Hi everyone and welcome to thread 3.
Please ask if you’d like the link to the private Facebook group. It expires after a couple of days so I won’t add it to this post.

Thank you for everyone's replies! I'm taking notes ☺️

Aww @waryandbored that sounds awful, I hope the GP is helpful. Interested in the double buggy chat, I'm wondering if I can get away without one as my youngest rejects the buggy quite a lot of the time, and I think there are some fun buggy board options? I have (and love) a mountain buggy.
I love love love slings but yes to buggy, you'll find you wear the sling a lot inside to get stuff done/get them to sleep/keep your sanity and it's nice to be able to put them down sometimes! And have somewhere to put the changing bag, although I'd always have a carrier in the bottom of the buggy when they're wee anyway. Buggy walks with a podcast while they nap are pretty crucial for my mh when they're little! I'll need a new car seat and maybe mattress but they really don't need a lot to begin with. And for the big awkward stuff I'd get second hand and sell on when done (there are great deals on second hand buggys too, at NCT sales etc)

sabretoothtigger · 23/04/2024 20:22

Oh @waryandbored that sounds horrendous! Definitely sounds like you need something different. Really hope your GP finds something that works for you. Must be really tough with a little one as well.

@piechipsgravy hope you get your results back tomorrow

And thanks for all the suggestions. I had to look up what a starsnug is - so cute 😍 and looks like Ewan the sheep might make it on to my list as well. And a pram of course 😂I still have a pretty minimal list though especially as I know my family would go OTT.

And thank you to whoever mentioned hypnobirthing. I'm really hoping this will also help with my fainting tendency as well around anything medical (thankfully fine with needles though).

MrsS11 · 23/04/2024 20:23

Ooh but mine have all loved white noise. You can get it on BBC sounds on your phone but we got given a myhummy which is great and starts up as they start to move. Will get another of those

muddlingthrou · 23/04/2024 20:42

@waryandbored - I've found only a combo of prochloperazine and cyclizine works for me. I also had a 5 day course of metoclopramide when I was at my worst, which stopped the nausea but made me feel like I was wading through quicksand!

All to say, there are more options than just cyclizine so please do go back to your GP and explore the options. I feel like a different person now compared to earlier weeks.

The non stop retching is the worst - my throat and stomach muscles were in agony! I eventually got referred to the gynae dept of my local hospital and the doctor made it a priority to stop the retching as she said it put me at risk of a detached retina 😱 I'm not saying that to scare you but to let you know they should take you seriously. Wishing you all the luck and keep us updated xx

UnravellingTheWorld · 23/04/2024 20:57

Think we're going to need a second Ewan the Sheep. I seriously doubt my son will be convinced to share his!

Kinsters · 24/04/2024 02:28

I never bought a changing mat! I just used a towel on the bath mat, bed, rug etc.

mrssunshinexxx · 24/04/2024 05:55

@strawberrycake12 agree with no baby shoes but defo need thick socks or booties for a winter baby x

PeachDahlia · 24/04/2024 07:49

@waryandbored so sorry you’re feeling so sick! I’ve had bad sickness too (HG) and ended up in hospital for iv fluids etc and the only medication that has helped is Xonvea. It takes a few days to start working but I’ve been on it for around 4 weeks now and it’s definitely helped, some days I’ve still been sick but it allowed me to eat and drink. I’m 12 weeks today and didn’t feel sick at all yesterday so hoping the sickness is finally going. Hope you feel better soon!

piechipsgravy · 24/04/2024 08:13

@waryandbored so sorry you're struggling so much. Definitely speak to your GP about trying other medications to find the right fit.

This week I've thrown up exactly one every day in the morning. I've noticed after being sick this morning that my glands in my neck are even more swollen and pronounced. Does anyone else get this?

Meatballsandpasta · 24/04/2024 11:00

Struggling to get out of bed these last couple of days as I get very dizzy standing up. Breakfast in bed it is... and then trying to resist the urge to go back to sleep 😴 anyone else?

Have you had your bloods taken yet? Mine have come back low iron so my midwife is sorting some supplements for me. Apparently you feel better again after a few days of them. Deff tell your midwife if it's getting too much x

LegoBear84 · 24/04/2024 14:43

Has anyone been told they'll have to have clexane injections?
Because I'm 40 and have IBD I've flagged up as moderate risk... I knew I'd be consultant led as was last time but didn't know about the clexane 😭

SouthwestSis · 24/04/2024 15:07

@LegoBear84 I had to have clexane after my last pregnancy because of delivery complications, it was quite unpleasant but better than a pulmonary embolism!
Is there any way you can reduce your clot risk? Are you able to keep active? Is your IBD well controlled atm?

Yes, a couple of weeks ago. This feels different to anaemia (which I've had before) but I'll flag it if it keeps happening 🤔

It could also be blood pressure related, or blood sugar. Definitely mention it to your midwife.

Good point, could be many things. My thought on it being first thing is it's likely to be calories/fluid insufficiency 🤔 Just checked blood pressure and it's normal but I'll leave my machine on the bedside so I can check it in the morning if it happens again.

piechipsgravy · 24/04/2024 16:41

Hope everyone is ok today.

I still don't have my results back 😩 there's been more cases this week so definitely was right to not go in but getting really frustrated now.

waryandbored · 24/04/2024 17:17

I’ve been signed off for another 2 weeks due to nausea and sickness. They’ve asked if I want to try another medication so I think I will as the cyclizine isn’t really doing it for me. Even today with no toddler to look after, I’ve just been totally wiped out, been sick twice and felt nauseous 99% of the day. I’m so sick of it. 10 weeks today - cannot wait to get to the second trimester now.

That is very frustrating. Are your workplace supportive?

@waryandbored glad you got signed off for longer and offered some different meds- hoping you get some relief soon.

I had a good chat with my manager on Monday and she was lovely and supportive but I've not heard since so I'm not sure if their good will is wearing off now it's not a 1 day thing. I'm just getting a 'thanks for letting us know' when I message each day to say still no results which always makes me paranoid they're annoyed at me! Luckily my co teachers are being nice and helpful re covering my class so that's something.

Oh yeah I know it would be to avoid anything nasty.
My Crohn's is completely under control at the moment and I'm quite active both at work(school) and out of work.
I probably should have questioned it further but I was a bit shocked. It's not a definite as I'm only moderate risk, not high risk.

CurlyWurly1991 · 24/04/2024 19:11

Has anyone else started up with pelvic girdle pain (PGP)? I had this with my first pregnancy quite severely and at just over 9 weeks I’m starting to suffer with it this evening. Have self referred to nhs womens physio but no appointments available yet and I’m wondering what else I should be doing to prevent it getting worse
already use a pillow between legs at night, haven’t been doing breaststroke legs when I (rarely, recently!) swim. Have been guilty of crossing my legs a lot today and yesterday while sitting in meetings so wonder if that’s what has set it off. Struggled to walk up the stairs without a lot of pain and am now trying to rest it off in bed 😞

JL1989 · 24/04/2024 21:04

Had my second scan at the EPU today, and relived to be measuring right on track for 10w4 and HB of 178z After a TFMR followed by MMC last year, and loss of symptoms from 9 weeks, the anxiety was real, but feeling like I’ve hit my first milestone, now to get through the NIPT 🤞🌈🌈 Hope you’re all doing okay.

1yearplan · 24/04/2024 21:36

Ahh, that's great news @JL1989.
Keep growing little one!
