Grad thread: TTC after loss carry on

Wise0wl · 26/03/2024 10:25

Hello all,

I just thought I'd set up a grad thread from our TTC threads, now there are quite a few people with their bfps so that we can keep in touch, and there's a forum for those on their TTC journey to check in with us!

I've sifted through the previous threads so think this is a reasonably full list:

*@SnookyPook
*@wyto
*@Aaliyahrae
*@SunSparkle
*@graceinc22
*@Gem0302
*@Bali200
*@Oxalis00
*@GeorgeR28
*@CluelessInLondon
*@HerbaceousPerennial
*@NphysT
*@GoldDustWoman90

I'd love to hear where you all are in your journey. I am approx 4 +2 (so very early!), after two MMCs. Feeling remarkably relaxed as, although I like a plan, I've resigned myself to the fact that there's little I can do to alter the fate of this pregnancy so until later down the line, I just sort of have to roll with it.

@Bali200 ah that sounds lovely - enjoy your time with your partner. And how exciting that she will be here so soon 🥰 I think that's absolutely right that inductions post-term are a different kettle of fish as your body is already pretty much there. Most of my reservations for myself are linked to it being a month early and baby being so small. I'm sure you will smash it whether she comes of her own accord or needs a little nudge! 💗 Can't wait for the update! 🥰

SnookyPook · 15/07/2024 19:10

Well ladies - a week today I should be snuggling little man!! C-section booked for Monday 22nd! Eek!!! 🥰💙😳😆💙🥰

@Bali200 hope you're doing ok 💗

CluelessInLondon · 15/07/2024 19:19

@SnookyPook Ahh, so exciting! Bet you really can't wait to meet him now that you have a date!

samilicious · 15/07/2024 21:01

@Bali200 deffo something in being overdue and being induced. Amazing that you're already 2cm!I think most people slow down and need more intervention because they panic. The more you can do to stay in a positive headspace and avoid light the better. It's something to do with us being mammals and bringing in dark spaces like cats 😂 sounds crazy but definitely helped. And why some people slow down once they're in a hospital setting (why eye masks are good)

@CluelessInLondon glad it was helpful 🥰
Some people laugh off birth plans but mine was a saviour when I struggled to communicate when I got to hospital. I used a different template to the NHS one which was just one a4 page (had 13 page nhs one as well) so easy to pick up and read

@SnookyPook ooooh just on the cusp of a Cancer ♋️ then! My favourite person in the world has this star sign - she's lived to be a very healthy 86 year old (and still counting) so getting all the healthy vibes for your little man

Bali200 · 17/07/2024 10:04

How exciting to have the confirmed date @SnookyPook 🥰🥰🥰 our babies may be born on the same day as bubs is showing no signs of arriving on her own accord so I’m fully expecting to be induced on Saturday. I’ve done absolutely everything to try and get the oxytocin flowing but she’s obviously too comfortable in there.

And of course the weather is getting warm over the next few days to make sure I’m even more uncomfortable in my 42nd week of pregnancy 😂

samilicious · 17/07/2024 15:29

@Bali200 oh noo sorry baby isn't budging!

Ladies I've well and truly lost my marbles 🥴
I thought the wiping was bad in the TWW, it's reached a whole new level of crazy now.
Taking a pic of CM on a tissue in a public toilet to show DH to ask him if he could see a tint of red or brown in it because I couldn't focus with my contacts

Really cant wait until 12 weeks - this waiting is killing me and I'm sure time is going extra slow. So glad I have a scan on Monday first thing

@Wise0wl how are you doing?

CluelessInLondon · 17/07/2024 16:38

@Bali200 Oh no, you must have made it so comfy for her that she doesn't want to come out! Keeping everything crossed that she's ready to put in an appearance really soon, and that things don't get too uncomfortable for you in the hot weather.

@samilicious I remember the first trimester anxiety well, I was constantly inspecting the loo roll and my knickers every time I went to the bathroom looking for signs of something being wrong. Not too long to go until your next scan though, although I'm sure it feels like ages right now!

@Wise0wl Was today the day of your 20 week scan? Hope it has gone well. ❤

Wise0wl · 17/07/2024 22:01

@Bali200 DC1 was the same, he didn’t want to come out either! Best of luck for your induction 🩷

@samilicious if it makes you feel better I still get pink spotting and still check tissue every time I go to the loo at 20 weeks. Maybe I always will? I even wonder now if I’ll ever stop spotting, even when I’m not pregnant! Nobody has been able to tell me why it happens either.

thanks for checking in as well @CluelessInLondon, how are you doing?

I had my 20 week scan yesterday afternoon, which went well. But they pressed really quite hard as it was difficult to get a good view of baby’s kidneys (they seemed happy enough by the end though) and I’ve had some spotting again today but more pink than usual, which is why I’ve been a bit quiet. I’m hoping it tapers off, and despite having an anterior placenta I just felt a bit kick so am hanging on in there!

It’s so exciting to be awaiting baby news @Bali200 and @SnookyPook, and your scan is soon isn’t it @samilicious?

CluelessInLondon · 18/07/2024 10:35

@Wise0wl Glad to hear that things were looking good at the scan, but the spotting must be worrying - have you spoken to your midwife or triage at all or are you just waiting to see if it stops by itself? Hopefully as you've had a bit of spotting before it's nothing to worry about (seems as though some pregnancies just involve a lot of random spotting for no obvious reason), and definitely a good sign that you're getting a bit more movement too.

Bali200 · 18/07/2024 13:00

Just wanted to announce my baby girl arrived earthside 🌍 at 9.01am this morning after going into spontaneous labour last night with a bit of a rollercoaster labour ending in an emergency c-section this morning. Could not be happier to have her here safely 🌈

Hope you’re all doing well 💗

Wise0wl · 18/07/2024 13:32

Thanks @CluelessInLondon! It seems to have subsided, so I’m just keeping an eye for now.

And HUGE congratulations @Bali200! What a journey, enjoy those newborn snuggles. (And separately I found it helpful to keep on top of the painkillers, even when you think you don’t need them it’s better to stay on top of the pain than have to get on top of it) sending so much love ❤️

CluelessInLondon · 18/07/2024 13:34

@Bali200 Hooray, what wonderful news - so pleased for you that she is finally here safe and sound! Hopefully the recovery from the c-section goes smoothly and you are up and about before too long. ❤

ThelastRolo20 · 18/07/2024 13:47

@Bali200 wonderful news 🥰 congratulations!!! Xx

SnookyPook · 19/07/2024 00:12

@Bali200 congratulations on the safe arrival of your daughter!! 💗 Hope you're doing ok and recovering well from the difficult birth. So happy that little lady is finally safely in your arms 🥰💗🥰

Bali200 · 22/07/2024 06:38

Thank you everyone for all your kind words, I am so over the moon with my little girl. I still can’t believe she’s here and how perfect she is 💗

Wishing you all the best of luck for your section today @SnookyPook I hope everything goes smoothly for you and that it’s not too long till your little guy is in your arms 🩵

If it helps, my section experience was really positive, despite being unplanned, and my recovery is going really well, I only have some discomfort when standing/sitting up so hopefully you should have an even better experience with it being planned.

Look forward to your next update 🩵🌈🥰

Hope everyone else is doing well? Good luck for your scan today @samilicious!

Has the spotting subsided @Wise0wl?

samilicious · 22/07/2024 09:31

Amazing news, congratulations @Bali200 !

Just had my scan, measuring 7w exactly when according to my dates I'm 7w3d/5d depending on if you count my shorter cycles or not. Strong heartbeat though. Ugh I don't feel any better honestly pretty sure I just feel worse. Also found an anechoic area adjacent to the sac "suggestive of a subchorionic haematoma". They didn't seem worried but just the idea of bleeding randomly (I know it's normal for most people but only ever had bleeding when things haven't been ok before). Good to know about it so if I do bleed I'll know it's that but still. Just want to get the the point where I feel like there's a chance this might actually happen. I thought this first hurdle would feel like progress but just going back to the hospital and speaking to the screening people has just bought a load of stuff back up :(

CluelessInLondon · 22/07/2024 11:59

Thinking of you today @SnookyPook , looking forward to hearing about the little guy's safe arrival. ❤

@Bali200 Glad to hear everything is going well with your recovery. Are you managing to get much sleep?

@samilicious Sounds overall promising from your scan if you've seen a nice strong heartbeat, although the haematoma is always going to be worrying. They are really common though, so fingers crossed there are no problems for baby. When is your next scan going to be? It's so difficult at these early stages to get a lot of reassurance from them, especially when you're so acutely aware after a loss of all of the things that can go wrong in between them - but I think you have to just try to see the positives, that it has shown that baby is doing okay as things stand. It's a day by day thing - I went through the first trimester just thinking each day "I'm still pregnant, I have no reason to suppose I'm not" and didn't really get into thinking in terms of weeks until I was past the dating scan and screening.

Third trimester symptoms are kicking in for me now, which I'm not really enjoying! 30+2 now and it looks like I've developed carpal tunnel syndrome, so I've got sore fingers and keep waking up during the night with numb hands. 😩All the NHS advice says that it will "probably" go away after the baby is born, which isn't that reassuring! Had a bit of a meltdown on Saturday night and felt really upset - I've mostly been quite relaxed about the changes to my body during pregnancy (more so than I thought I would be, considering it was one of my big worries about having a baby in the first place) but I think the tiredness from not being able to sleep properly is getting on top of me a bit, plus my in laws were visiting over the weekend and they can be a bit full-on at times, so I just felt a bit overwhelmed and needed to have a good cry.

ThelastRolo20 · 22/07/2024 13:19

@Bali200 my section recovery was also really smooth ❤️ glad to hear yours is going well

@SnookyPook best of luck today!! How exciting 🥰🎉

I know all of these feelings so well. That difference is well within normal range. If it helps my baby jumped another 3 days forward between 6.5 weeks and 12 weeks! So it does change ❤️a strong heartbeat is a great sign. I also have/ had a SCH, bit of brown discharge and one clot leading up to 12 weeks but none since - can be scary seeing it though!

Unfortunately after loss I'm not sure when you will start to feel confident in the pregnancy. I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and still feeling anxious 🤷🏻‍♀️

SnookyPook · 22/07/2024 16:41

Thanks everyone! He's here safe and sound! So in love 🥰 5lbs7oz which is officially 2nd centile! But he seems so strong and not as tiny as I'd feared! I'm doing well. Surgery was really positive and we've been very well looked after. 💙 We think we're going with Samuel Arthur but just feeling it out!!

CluelessInLondon · 22/07/2024 17:02

@SnookyPook Wonderful news, congratulations! 💙 So glad everything went well and that you and your little man have been well looked after. Hope you are able to get home and start settling in before too long. Lovely name too - Samuel is one of our favourites for if baby turns out to be a boy. 😊

Bugdem123 · 22/07/2024 17:25

What a day to pop back onto this thread 🥺

@SnookyPook and @Bali200 congratulations to you both on your beautiful wee babies 🥺🥰 I'm so glad you're both doing well. It somehow feels like forever ago and last week we first spoke on the MC thread and it's really warmed my heart to read this today and has given me so much hope.

@samilicious im so delighted to see you here and see your scan went well 🥰 how have you been keeping?

@ThelastRolo20 I can't believe you're 15 weeks already! That feels like it's flown in (although probably not for you!) how have you been?

@CluelessInLondon like with Rolo, I can't believe how far along you are already! Carpal tunnel sounds awful. When are you planning on stopping for mat leave?

@Wise0wl im so glad to read your 20 week scan went well! How are you keeping?

ThelastRolo20 · 22/07/2024 18:05

@SnookyPook congratulations! And what a lovely name 🥰 @Bugdem123 I'm okay thank you - it's going a bit quicker now I'm past 12 weeks but can't seem to leave the anxiety behind.

How are you? Xx

Bugdem123 · 22/07/2024 18:53

@ThelastRolo20 I'm okay! I've found the anxiety quite hard going too, I'm 20 weeks on Friday and feel like I'm still waiting for something to go wrong. I have my anomaly scan tomorrow and am so worried about it. My husband is much more relaxed as we've had so many private scans. I can't feel any movement yet either so it's hard to just believe everything is fine!

Bali200 · 22/07/2024 20:11

Congratulations @SnookyPook 🎊🎊🎊 how lovely to hear baby Samuel has arrived safely and that everything went well. Enjoy the cuddles and hope your recovery goes well 🥰

@Bugdem123 thank you lovely, so nice to hear from you! How are you getting on? X

@samilicious urgh sorry to hear that you didn’t get the reassurance you needed. Like Rolo, my little one was measuring 3 days behind at 7 week scan, but this was in line with my ovulation date. By 12 week scan she was measuring +4 days ahead of LMP, so was actually measuring +6 days ahead of my original due date based on conception, so they can definitely catch up. Hopefully you can take some reassurance from the strong heartbeat, it’s such a great sign at this stage 💗
