@LiviaX I’m sorry to hear you are struggling too; do make sure you talk to someone if you’re finding things too much, it’s such a difficult and lonely time. I know what you mean about time going slowly - I found out super early, about 9DPO, and I swear these last 5 weeks or so have been the longest weeks of my life! And I think it’s okay to feel happy that you’re pregnant but also feel rubbish - there’s so much pressure to ‘enjoy’ pregnancy and I am definitely not enjoying it so far! I think we just have to hold onto the hope that this will pass and it will get better - so many women say they feel so much better in their second trimester. I’m at my parents’ house at the moment and I had a little cry to my mum and she showed me her pregnancy journal from when she had me and the difference between what she said during her first trimester and second trimester is night and day! That’s good you’re snacking on fruits and veggies though - I feel like all I have eaten for the last couple of weeks is carbs and cheese, plus fizzy sweets as they help to cover up the horrible metallic taste in my mouth…

Thanks so much ❤️ I’m really lucky in that my partner has been super supportive and I have actually been having counselling to help with going through infertility treatment, and I’m hoping they’ll let me carry on seeing the counsellor as I’ve found her really helpful. I think they offer counselling in general for pregnancy but I don’t want to start all over again.

I’m glad to hear you have your mum to rely on and support you. That’s lovely.

I guess the grass is always greener, as I wish I could eat more substantive foods because fruit just doesn’t fill me up enough! I am grateful not to have had the weird metallic taste though.

Anyone dealing with awful back pain keeping them up at night? I'm 7 +4 and had this for a good few weeks now but it's getting worse. I'm tossing and turning all night and then when I wake up for my 2nd wee in the early morning I give up going back to bed because I'm that uncomfortable. Never had this issue before but not sure how to reduce the discomfort and get a good nights sleep, it also hurts throughout the day but is way worse when keeping still for a long time.

Anyone struggle with this too? And have any suggestions?

RobynC28 · 18/03/2024 11:49

My baby girl is fine! We saw her wriggling around today and heard her heart beat. Feel so relieved.

The midwife thought the bleeding could have been caused by the placenta taking over which makes sense dates wise.

My morning sickness has never been as bad as this weekend but I think that was mixed with anxiety - horrible combination!! Already feel less sick.

Thanks for everyone's support!

Nic2908 · 18/03/2024 12:25

@RobynC28 yey, how exciting for you. That’s so lovely. I’m still waiting for my results. Can’t come quick enough. 12 week scan a week today and I am low key petrified.

Strawbs92 · 18/03/2024 12:52

Hi all,

I am 9 weeks tomorrow and had cramps and bleeding yesterday (red this time) so managed to get a scan today and luckily all is okay!

So strange how my second pregnancy is so different as i never had bleeding with my first, this baby is keeping me on my toes!! Glad all is well though.

She didn't appreciate me asking for a scan photo though.. oops.

AppleTree16 · 18/03/2024 13:08

I think nausea may be starting to lift here finally. Still feeling very tired though. We have a private scan on Saturday as I want to tell my family over Easter but our NHS scan isn’t until the second week of April.

Joey2011 · 18/03/2024 14:03

@Seashells4 I'm also 10weeks this Friday 😁
I'm feeling so nauseous today and with a headache that's been pretty bad on and off now since last week. The exhaustion doesn't help with the headache as a trigger for me is either too much time asleep of too much screen time! And as I'm too tired to do alot I find I'm on my phone/computer or watching TV alot atm!
I've got a private reassurance scan booked for this Saturday so that can't come quick enough 😊

Missingpotatocroquettes · 18/03/2024 16:07

Hello everyone! Joining a bit late but I'm 9 weeks pregnant tomorrow and nausea has been killing me. Slightly better today though I think, I went through a period of throwing up water which really made me worry but that seems to have passed🤞🏻.

The anxiety waiting for my first appointment is something else though and still not for another 2 and half weeks! Terrified something will be wrong when we get to the scan.

Trifficult · 18/03/2024 16:11

@Missingpotatocroquettes welcome, I'm 9 weeks tomorrow too so I guess we're due date buddies. Is this your first bubba? As hard as it is try not to worry!

CluelessInLondon · 18/03/2024 16:20

@RobynC28 @Strawbs92 Glad you have both had good scans and all is looking okay!

Welcome and congratulations @Missingpotatocroquettes. Have you had any scans already or are you just waiting for the 12 week one?

Missingpotatocroquettes · 18/03/2024 16:23

@Trifficult Thanks! And woo hoo, due date buddies! And yes, first and surprise baby. I won't be giving birth in the UK either so that's equally nerve-wracking.

Have you had any cravings yet? The only thing I've wanted is potato croquettes but I can't find them here 😭

Missingpotatocroquettes · 18/03/2024 16:26

@CluelessInLondon Hi! Thank you! It'll be my first scan, I'll be 11 weeks 3 days. Unfortunately, private scans aren't a thing here or I would have booked one if I was home in the UK because I've been so anxious something will be wrong.

WeightoftheWorld · 18/03/2024 16:35

Sorry lots of you are feeling shit too. I had to go off sick this afternoon and will be off sick at least tomorrow and Wednesday too. I'm not saying why though just saying I've got vomiting. I don't trust my manager to keep it to herself/HR and I don't want everyone to know yet.

Called DM to tell her too, DH was insisting pretty much and I do get why. We are all very close and now that I'm ill enough to take some time off work it would be hard to hide without her worrying about what's wrong. She was surprised which surprised me but didn't say anything negative other than "three will be a handful though". I'm one of three myself so fair enough she's speaking from experience at least, haha.

I'm going to call the GP tomorrow too and ask to try ondansetron to see if it improves the sickness enough for me to go back to work later this week/next week. Was on it in my last two pregnancies and it did help but I was more sick then still so doubt it will get me better than I am now, but we will see.

CaptinKitty · 18/03/2024 16:43

I posted last Monday to say that I was feeling worried as we had gone for a scan expecting to be 7+2, but the measurements came out as 6+1. Spent a lot of time fretting over it either being normal due to a later ovulation or something indicating baby wasn’t growing properly. I booked a follow up scan for 2 weeks later to see how things were looking and to give things time to develop.

But after lots of fretting, I Decided to go for another scan today (a week early) and see what the situation was and am so glad I did. Baby has grown by 8 days over the last week, so it looks like I’m most likely a later ovulator/implanter.

This scanning place also measured the heart rate at 149bpm, which she said was nice and strong and in the middle of what they would want/expect at this point (120-160bpm is the range)

Breathing a big sigh of relief for now! It does mean that my original due date of the end of October is now looking much more like early November though (and bang on my birthday!)

rachisamumtobe · 18/03/2024 17:08

@WeightoftheWorld feeling terribly nauseous all the time it's really getting me down! Hoping things improve after the first trimester

rachisamumtobe · 18/03/2024 17:09

@Missingpotatocroquettes have you had your first midwife appointment yet? I did last week at just over 8 weeks, I am waiting for my first scan which is just under a month away and hoping everything will be ok!

Missingpotatocroquettes · 18/03/2024 17:20

@rachisamumtobe No, no midwife appointment. I'm in Germany and I got a referral to an OB through my husband's work insurance. Not sure how everything works over here yet but I took the first available appointment they had!

WickWood · 18/03/2024 17:54

Sorry to hear of everyone struggling so much with sickness, I really did feel better around week 10 I think! In the moment it doesn't ever feel like it will be better!

I'm feeling slightly better chest infection wise, I managed some sleep last night. I'm still not managing to eat much, threw up like 10 times yesterday, but thankfully I haven't yet today! I've had half a celery stick, half a babybel and 2 rich tea biscuits. I'm just about to have a small portion of pasta and cheese, really hoping I'm not sick!!

IsLarryFromSomething · 18/03/2024 19:40

I had several people tell me I looked pale/tired/unwell today. It's going to make so much sense to everyone when I get to the second trimester and tell them.

My headteacher is really supportive though, she checks on me every day and has been so kind it makes me want to cry.

WeightoftheWorld · 18/03/2024 19:56

Hope you are on the mend @WickWood . In my second pregnancy I got a horrible viral illness (sore throat/sinusitis etc) around the same gestation as you and I had HG on top and oh my word it was utterly horrendous. So I've been feeling for you so much reading about your poor health, hope you keep your tea down and are feeling much better tomorrow!

JLT24 · 18/03/2024 20:13

@Strawbs92 @Trifficult @Missingpotatocroquettes I’m also nine weeks tomorrow! I had a scan at 7 weeks which gave me some reassurance. My 12 week scan has been booked for 11th April when I’ll be 12+2, it feels so far away!

WickWood · 18/03/2024 20:32

@WeightoftheWorld Thank you! It's horrific, isn't it?! I don't even feel pregnant anymore (I know the baby is fine though)

I am feeling much better than I was though, I ate about 2 spoonfuls of pasta and I'm now eating cheese pie with some mash. It's taking me a long time but I'm slowly nibbling away and haven't been sick yet today!!

CosyGreyLion · 18/03/2024 20:35

Hi Everyone, has anyone had an early scan and not seen a heart beat? On the 16th I went for an early private scan. I thought I was 7 weeks and 6 days. Last period was 22nd jan. The lady said the sac was measuring 7+4 but she couldn’t see a heartbeat so I’m to go back in 2 weeks for another scan. This is my 5th pregnancy (6th child) I haven’t had an early scan before so I’m a bit worried now. The lady said that it was normal but I can’t help but worry. I have still got awful sickness. Not actually been sick but constantly feeling sick all day everyday. Xx

tryforbabynumber2 · 18/03/2024 20:37

@CosyGreyLion sorry you're worried. My twins were measuring 7+4 and could see both heartbeats, but I imagine lots of things can influence it like how old the equipment is they're using, positioning of the baby etc xxx

CosyGreyLion · 18/03/2024 20:43

Thank you @tryforbabynumber2 my youngest are identical twins (12) My uterus does tilt so it did take a while for her to find what she was looking for. I’m really struggling with feeling sick constantly but I’m also thinking it’s got to be a positive??
