@WeightoftheWorld Keeping fingers crossed for you - if it's just a tiny bit then hopefully it's nothing to worry about. I hope you can get through to the hospital soon for some advice.

@peardeer @LampLamp Welcome and congratulations to both you, I'm sorry to hear what a tough journey it has been for you both. Wishing you lots of luck for trouble free pregnancies this time round.

LiviaX · 16/04/2024 15:12

Got our NIPT results back and all very low risk which is a relief. Also found out we are having a boy so now DH and I are going to have to take seriously figuring out a name!

SELE97 · 16/04/2024 16:41

This scan was done last week at 10+6, my mother pointed out that you can see baby's eyes, nose and mouth but I really didn't see this before just looked like a blob to me but now I cant I see a little face. What do people think?

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow so hopefully everything goes okay and a decent photo would be a bonus❤️

@LampLamp Congratulations! But sorry you've been having a difficult time. Are you having the abnormalities blood test? Cheeky baby not playing ball!

They said they could only now offer me the quad test at 16 weeks along with head measurements.
I did think they would do the bloods anyway but apparently I “missed my opportunity”.

WickWood · 16/04/2024 17:00

@LiviaX Aww congratulations! 🩵

@SELE97 I can definitely see eyes, nose, mouth and legs! Good luck for tomorrow!

@LampLamp I'm confused at that, surely you should have been offered bloods anyway, following the 12 week scan, even if they couldn't get a good measurement? I thought that was routine? (I may be wrong, it's my first baby, but that's the impression I was under!) I don't see why not getting the measurement would impact your ability to get bloods! That seems unfair to you!

JLT24 · 16/04/2024 17:04

@WickWood @LampLamp the same thing happened to me last week. Baby wouldn’t turn to get a good measurement so they won’t do the combined test only the quad test is offered now, must be standard NHS procedure

WickWood · 16/04/2024 17:07

@JLT24 Ah I see! They must have their own reasoning!

rachisamumtobe · 16/04/2024 17:08

@WeightoftheWorld hope you're Ok xxx

Btowngirl · 16/04/2024 17:11

Had our 12 week scan today, we are 12+4 but baby is measuring at 13 exactly so that’s a nice bonus, they look leggy to me but only on 42nd percentile. New due date is 22nd October 🥰

@LampLamp They need both the bloods and the NT measurement to do the combined screening, which will be why they didn't do your bloods at the 12 week scan - if they can't get the measurement then the bloods on their own aren't enough to give you your risk score, so there would basically be no point doing them.

CosyGreyLion · 16/04/2024 18:38

Evening Ladies. I hope everyone is feeling ok. I’m so much better now my sickness has gone ♥️ I’m 12 + 2 and my husband has just taken a picture of my stomach. I definitely look further along than what I am 😂 I’m on countdown at the minute as we have a big family holiday in 6 days (18 of us in total going to Turkey for 2 weeks) I’m ready for some relaxing as we own our own cafe and it’s very busy so I’m going to enjoy some time not working and been on my feet for hours on end.

I had some bloods with my midwife at 9 weeks - sickle cell and the regular infectious disease/STD test.
I expected to have more bloods, even when she said she couldn’t get the right measurements on the scan but she was certain it that nothing more couple happen until 16 weeks as I had “missed my chance”.
She was very nice and reassuring about it but it did seem weird. I’m trying hard to put it out of my mind and focus on the fact that the baby still had a heartbeat and was measuring at the right size - a novelty for me given my history.

I would still be interested if anyone else couldn’t get a nuchal reading at 12 weeks due to position of baby, whether or not they had bloods taken at the same appointment or if they had to wait.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Edit: I should read all posts before replying! Thanks for letting me know JLT24, at least it seems standard and we’re not alone in it.

Thank you! I did wonder if that was the case because it’s essentially adding up all the factors with the measurement isn’t it?
She was so nice about it but seemed to brush it off as though I should expect it.
A leaflet wouldn’t go a miss there!

Shootystealy · 16/04/2024 19:36

Highly recommend this pillow I've been using for the last few weeks.

@CosyGreyLion Aww that's a lovely bump! Is this your first baby?

@Shootystealy That looks so comfy! We only have a double bed though, so I'm worried my OH wouldn't fit in also 😂

tryforbabynumber2 · 16/04/2024 19:44

@CosyGreyLion 12+2 here as well (albeit with twins) 🤰🏻

I know what you mean - there seems to be so much in pregnancy that midwives and sonographers just assume everyone knows even when it's their first baby, it's been driving me crazy for the last few weeks!

Thank you ♥️ No it is my fifth pregnancy, 6th baby. My last was twins 12 years ago 😳 so a bit of an age gap. My eldest is now 20 x

That’s a perfect little bump. My last pregnancy was twins and even though my girls are now 12 I still look at them and I’m so proud that I got the chance to have twins. My girls are identical ♥️

We have a double too and it fits fine. I honestly don't know I'd do without it!

WickWood · 16/04/2024 20:26

@tryforbabynumber2 Another adorable bump!

@CosyGreyLion Aww, great ages to help out with their new little sibling!

WickWood · 16/04/2024 20:27

@Shootystealy Ooh thanks that's good to know!

tryforbabynumber2 · 16/04/2024 20:27

@CosyGreyLion awww how lovely 😍 We've been told these are most likely non-identical. We don't know the genders yet but will hopefully be finding out on 3rd May ❤️

Bee49 · 16/04/2024 21:07

@LampLamp as others have said there’s no point them taking bloods as they can only give you a risk level if they combine it with the NT measurement. We had the same problem at ours and baby was so tucked into my pelvis that they couldn’t get a good picture to take a measurement. They offered the quad test at 15 weeks (it’s a blood test only) but it’s not as accurate and only tests for Down’s syndrome. I wasn’t happy waiting and wanted to know risks for all so I went for a private NIPT test (our trust doesn’t offer them at all even if you get a high risk result in a screening test). It’s not cheap but I needed the peace of mind.

Fullofconfusion · 16/04/2024 21:16

So I got the dreaded telephone call from the hospital today to say combined screening has come back higher risk. Booked for NIPT tomorrow
