Hi there. Have been asked to start aspirin 75mg daily starting 12 weeks. Is this a common medication prescribed for IVF pregnancy?

Im type 1 diabetic and have also been advised to take aspirin, except i have to take 150mg per day from 12 weeks (i started mine yesterday!). I think its to help reduce the risks of pre-eclampsia.

WickWood · 12/04/2024 21:18

@APSR Hi, I'm on aspirin, not an IVF baby, I was told its bacause I have a higher BMI x

APSR · 12/04/2024 21:49

Thanks for letting me know.

WickWood · 12/04/2024 22:14

@MF94 Do you know when to stop taking the aspirin? Is it right up to labour?

Hello ladies 👋
Very very late to this thread but i only discovered Oct 2024 babies thread 1 this morning - when the first posts started i had only just conceived! I am exactly 12 weeks today with my first baby, EDD 24th October, although i am type 1 diabetic so I won't go to full term, so i'm expecting to be induced early/mid-October. I have my 12w scan on Monday and i am literally counting down the hours (part nerves/part just how i deal with my anxiety). We've told our immediate families but i am desperate to tell my friends and work - partly to justify why i'm putting on so much weight so quickly! 😂really nice to have found a community i can talk about this stuff with, because my husband zones out after a while! xx

Hi. My daughter is also pregnant wirh her first baby due 23rd October and type 1. Hope you're managing your diabetes ok

My due date is the 24th so we’re basically identical! Thank you, it definitely adds another level of difficulty but im trying so hard to make sure my levels are good and in range as im so scared about the risks/side effects of bad control 😔hope your daughter is managing ok as well x

rachisamumtobe · 12/04/2024 22:37

@WickWood I've been prescribed it too for the same reason.. not sure if I should

mouldygrapes · 12/04/2024 22:37

yep, I'm also on aspirin 150mg, told to take from 12 wks to 36 wks.
For me it's because my last baby was small for dates, although I took it when pregnant with her as well, but that was due to high BMI. I've lost weight between pregnancies so didn't qualify on the BMI front this time.

also had my scan on Weds, touch wood all looks good. Baby was very wriggly and rolling side to side. Waiting for screening bloods too, hate the feeling of limbo.

@Joey2011 we are due date twins!

mrssunshinexxx · 13/04/2024 06:58

@APSR I was on it for last 2 pregnancies due to severe family history or preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. The midwife has said I don't need it this time as nothing every progressed but obviously in my mind I'm wondering did it not progress because my BP was well controlled so going to push to be on it with consultant phone call early May . You stop taking it usually at 36/37 weeks as it's a blood thinner so higher chance of having a PPH in or after labour if still on them

Fullofconfusion · 13/04/2024 08:09

well after the excitement of my scan and seeing a lovely little bean wriggling all over I’m now having a pretty awful weekend.

I’ve got shingles! I think I’ve been super stressed recently and obviously when you’re pregnant you’re more susceptible to picking up immune things. I feel dreadful. It’s so painful, my skin feels like it’s on fire and it’s totally stomped on my pregnancy happiness.

Hope everyone else has a lovely weekend

Joey2011 · 13/04/2024 12:21

@Fullofconfusion so sorry to hear that your not feeling well 😔 hope it goes away quickly.
Since yesterday I've had terrible backache and my nausea has been as bad as it has ever been. Still the same today but also add in dizziness aswell 😔
Got work at 1 too but fortunately only till 9.

ButterflySkies · 13/04/2024 15:34

Sorry to hear about the shingles @Fullofconfusion - im so sorry! Rest up and hope it passes soon for you lovely!

I've just tentatively signed myself up for a home birth at my history appointment... has anyone had a home birth before? Xx

OCTOBER 2024 BABIES :) THREAD 3
LiviaX · 13/04/2024 16:37

@mrssunshinexxx mine was secondhand experience. One of my friends got such bad iron deficiency in pregnancy she couldn’t even walk and it took her so long to recover. That scared me enough!

@ButterflySkies thank you! I’m going to sending my husband off to M&S for croquettes now!

CosyGreyLion · 13/04/2024 16:42

I have been for a private scan today after convincing myself that I’d had a missed miscarriage. I literally don’t feel pregnant at all after feeling sick 24 7 ect but little bean is perfectly healthy and was kickings its little legs around. I’m 23 weeks tomorrow but got my official nhs scan on the 23rd. I can finally relax now.

What is the best time to take aspirin? Read it’s good to take it during the day. Any opinion on this ?

mrssunshinexxx · 13/04/2024 18:15

@Chlaribo98 I'd be very surprised if that's not a boy!

WickWood · 13/04/2024 19:57

Love the baby scans and @Chlaribo98 I'd say boy too!! 🩵

Feeling pretty rubbish, still coughing from my chest infection weeks/a month ago, it's getting worse and I'm back to coughing lots up, heaving etc. I'm going to have to call the GP again on Monday. My nose will also not stop running, just constant, I've used 2 rolls of toilet roll since last night and it kept me up throughout the night, so annoying! My nose is bright red and so sore. And still being sick. Feeling a bit low really. Sorry for the moan!

But in brighter news, at 15+5 I think I've just felt my baby flutter 🩵 I was just lay down and it felt like butterflies in the right hand side of my stomach (where he is) Hoping this helps me feel more connected to him.

Aher hba1c has gone from 110 to 49. They are so pleased wirh her.
She is suffering with sickness and has some tablets prescribed for it
I don't know if all pregnant ladies with type 1 have their babies 2 or 3 weeks earlier. She's was only diagnosed at 19 so nearly 2.5 years

30somethingttc · 14/04/2024 07:50

Morning all. Hope you enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday!
I just wondered if anyone else started to feel quite a bit better after 11 weeks? I’m 11+3/4 today and I still have a faint case of nausea throughout the day but overall just feeling better than I have been the previous few weeks!
I have my 12 scan on Tuesday but scanxiety is creeping in and feeling very anxious somethings wrong!

LuxeBiscuit · 14/04/2024 08:44

@30somethingttc my nausea started to ease off around 11 weeks. I had no morning sickness by the time I had the 12 week scan. The placenta starts to take over around the 11 week mark.

I hope your scan goes well next week.

ButterflySkies · 14/04/2024 09:07

@30somethingttc im on paper 13 weeks tomorrow but measuring behind on scans - my sickness is letting up too. I still dont think i could face anything tomato based without throwing up BUT ive just had a weak coffee, fruit and yoghurt and feel fine! Which is a real turnaround, even from a week ago. My benchmark is 15 weeks, that's when I was definitely through the fog with my first, had a small bump and it felt glorious! I remember wanting to put make up on and socialise, rather than hide and avoid smells! You're very nearly there xx

Trifficult · 14/04/2024 10:34

@CosyGreyLion

Trifficult · 14/04/2024 10:34

Sorry meant to say you're quite far ahead of us at 23 weeks!
