Scan day for me too! It's my first scan as just couldn't justify the cost of an early scan this time round. Can't wait to see them!

Missingpotatocroquettes · 11/04/2024 09:28

@LiviaX I'm also vegan! Currently struggling with healthy meals and snacks to eat whilst pregnant though. Could I ask what kind of stuff you're eating?

TeainanIV · 11/04/2024 10:13

Lots of love to all with scans today ❤️ our first one today too xx

TubbyCustard11 · 11/04/2024 11:07

Hi everybody, hope you're all doing well. I got the blood test results back yesterday which check for Down's syndrome/Edward's and Patau's syndrome. Came back low chance and results for ds is 1 in 2858, Ed and pat is 1 in 5000.

When I had my dd 2 years back results were also low but her figures were 1 in 42731 for ds and 1 in 100000 for Ed and pat.

The numbers are SO different! Anybody understand this?

Hello ladies 👋
Very very late to this thread but i only discovered Oct 2024 babies thread 1 this morning - when the first posts started i had only just conceived! I am exactly 12 weeks today with my first baby, EDD 24th October, although i am type 1 diabetic so I won't go to full term, so i'm expecting to be induced early/mid-October. I have my 12w scan on Monday and i am literally counting down the hours (part nerves/part just how i deal with my anxiety). We've told our immediate families but i am desperate to tell my friends and work - partly to justify why i'm putting on so much weight so quickly! 😂really nice to have found a community i can talk about this stuff with, because my husband zones out after a while! xx

PineappleBella · 11/04/2024 11:55

Good Morning ladies ❤️

Does anybody have experience of window to the womb? I have my gender scan this Sunday when I’ll be 15 weeks!

Btowngirl · 11/04/2024 13:03

Hey I am interested that you say you are due 24th October! I had IVF so do know when I conceived, me and the clinic believe I am 12 weeks tomorrow and due on 25th October (interestingly my 12 week scan is the day after your 12 week scan too haha) but the midwife has dated me as EDD 27 Oct. I know it makes no difference really (except if I’m overdue and need inducing!) I just find it interesting how different places are predicting diff due dates for me based on the same info.

Anyway welcome to the thread 😬

I went there at 10w for a reassurance scan as i was convinced i'd had a silent miscarriage and couldn't wait til my 12w scan as i was driving myself mad. They are really efficient, very calm and professional and afterwards they send you your report and they give you a picture of a scan and opportunity to buy more pics/videos too 😊

Ooh thats interesting! Well i am wondering if maybe my EDD is going to change after the scan on Monday! I had a scan at the Early Pregnancy Unit at 7w and they said that was my initial due date but wouldn't be confirmed til the 12w scan. The date of my last period was 17/01 and there's only 3 dates of possible conception due to my husband being away for work after that. I'll update on Monday if my EDD has changed!

CluelessInLondon · 11/04/2024 13:30

@MF94 Welcome and congratulations! Even if you have a pretty good idea of when you conceived they might adjust your due date anyway based on how the baby measures - I had two early scans in this pregnancy due to previous loss and baby was measuring a day behind at both based on LMP but by the time of my dating scan it was measuring a few days ahead so they moved my due date earlier on that basis. Technically I should now be in a September babies group but I feel invested in everyone on this thread so I've stayed here. 😄

WickWood · 11/04/2024 13:36

@TubbyCustard11 Mine said 1 in 5000, I too thought that was fairly high, even though it said low risk! It's my first child though so not sure, but the numbers are vastly different. I believe age and BMI impact on the outcome?

Fullofconfusion · 11/04/2024 13:52

I’ve had my 12 week scan today and measuring 12 weeks exactly.

Baby refused to be in the correct position for measurements so didn’t think we were going to get any but finally decided to play ball and got the measurements for the testing after what seemed like an age!

Feeling so happy to see a very active bouncing baby even if it wasn’t the right way up most of the time!

They’ve recently changed the numbers on the risk profile. If it says low risk, then you are low risk. Don’t compare your numbers from last time to this time as it’s pointless.

You are older now, every couple of years dramatically increases the odds they give you. I had three years between DC1 and DC2 and was still in my twenties with both, and I took was struck by how much higher the odds I was given were in pregnancy 2. I'm waiting this one and I'm now 30 so I know it will be much higher odds again, that's the case for everyone as they get older.

JLT24 · 11/04/2024 14:44

Had my 12 week scan today and pleased to say it went well. Couldn’t get the baby to move into the right position though as it was looking down so they were unable to take the NT measurement. This meant we couldn’t have the combined test done so we have been booked in for the Quad test at 15 weeks instead. This only tests for DS. Pretty disappointing but just have to have faith that everything will be ok.

Fullofconfusion · 11/04/2024 14:46

@JLT24 this was us too! Luckily a walk and a bit of jiggling eventually moved baby into the correct position. Must have been something in the air today for upside down babies!

JLT24 · 11/04/2024 14:47

@Fullofconfusion they had me doing star jumps and everything. Baby just kept doing a 360 back to face down lol

Fullofconfusion · 11/04/2024 15:05

@JLT24 it’s so frustrating isn’t it! You just want to tell them to turn around for a moment. Mine was turning halfway and then going back to being on it’s tummy

LuxeBiscuit · 11/04/2024 15:44

@Btowngirl my midwife explained they always go by LMP until the 12 week scan (dating scan).

Every day until 13/14 weeks has a measurement and corresponding gestational age. So if your baby is a growing a few mm more or less than the measurement your EDD will change.

Essentially, if you're a few days out don't worry.

@Fullofconfusion and @JLT24 congrats on the positive scans and active babies!

Btowngirl · 11/04/2024 15:51

@MF94 will be interested it compare final due dates after the 12 week scans haha.

@LuxeBiscuit thanks for the explanation. I totally get it can change and is based on measurements, the parameters have to be somewhere etc! I just think it’s funny that when they found out it was via IVF they had additional dates they wanted from me but it still generated off my LMP which is irrelevant and they had the embryo transfer date 🤷‍♀️ my wife carried our toddler and they formally changed the due date every scan until we asked if they could stick with the 12 week scan dating (not that it mattered as she was 11 days early lol)

LuxeBiscuit · 11/04/2024 16:06

@Btowngirl oh I see. I was the same then. My midwife asked for my egg collection and transfer dates but still used LMP for the dates that she inputted during the booking appointment.

Btowngirl · 11/04/2024 16:10

@LuxeBiscuit maybe I am being too pedantic over things that don’t matter (very likely!) Could be hormones, could not be hormones who knows haha

LiviaX · 11/04/2024 16:22

Missingpotatocroquettes · 11/04/2024 09:28

@LiviaX I'm also vegan! Currently struggling with healthy meals and snacks to eat whilst pregnant though. Could I ask what kind of stuff you're eating?

I’ve had huge aversions to anything greasy or fatty so all I’ve been able to eat are generally vegetables and carbs. I’ve been fine weirdly with curries so long as they’re not greasy so things like Dahl with rice have been a bit of a godsend. But otherwise I can’t say it’s been the most balanced meals. I find myself having pitta bread and houmous or toast for snacks most days. I also have a lot of bananas because they’re so portable but I’m now soooo bored of them. I’m just taking the view that I’ll make up for it with more balanced meals and proteins from the second trimester as I’m nearly there!

I’ll admit every time I see your username i fancy a croquette 😂

Missingpotatocroquettes · 11/04/2024 16:47

@LiviaX oh phew, that makes me feel better about what I've been eating. I've been feeling guilty about not eating a perfect balanced vegan diet and worrying about it harming the baby. Hopefully the prenatals are doing their job though.

Good shout on the Dahl! I forget how much I like Dahl. I'm planning on making a coconut chickpea curry next week too. One of my favourites and my husband doesn't eat anything with curry in the name (because he's annoyingly picky) so I always have loads of leftovers to last me a few days.

Oops, I'm passing on my croquette cravings 😂. I'm just hanging on until I'm back in the UK and I can eat as many potato croquettes as I like lol Having said that, I haven't had a potato croquette since I was a kid and I'm not even sure if there's a vegan version available.

mrssunshinexxx · 11/04/2024 17:21

Re iron chat @LiviaX I'm on spatone already 3 times a week to try combat it this time. My last pregnancy I was very anemic and had the lowest b12 my midwife had ever seen I felt like actual death and had a crash course of 6 injections when I was 39weeks instantly felt better, there's no way I could of given birth feeling that poorly
