My nesting instinct has kicked in today too. We’ve just had some house renovations done so I’ve been out and bought and few bits and was all ready to paint….and then the nausea hit. So now I can’t get off the sofa without feeling like I’m going to vomit

lpylou · 30/03/2024 11:56

I just want to scrub my 18 month olds playmat, we have most of the floor in the kitchen living area covered in it and I've come back from a work trip, it's just so grubby. Maybe when the jet lag wears off I will do it.

WickWood · 30/03/2024 12:18

My nesting instinct definitely hasn't kicked in yet, but I am feeling much better sickness wise. I wake up with morning sickness, but tend to be okay if I eat something quickly!

I am feeling a bit rubbish about what to wear, my jeans were digging in me so much I had to keep unbuttoning them, so I went shopping yesterday. I'm 13+5 with my first pregnancy and I swear I'm showing already, is that normal? None of the clothes suited me at all, I really am not a dress/linen pants/leggings sort of person, i dont feel comfortable in them, so I ended up buying some jeans a few dress sizes up! I couldn't find any maternity clothes anywhere. I really don't know what I'll wear for work when I have a big bump and it's the middle of summer, dreading it!

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend x

ButterflySkies · 30/03/2024 13:01

@WickWood looking at photos i had a bump at 14 weeks with my first, definitely not bloat but a tiny visible bump! So totally normal 🩷 by best advice is to invest in decent bras and underwear and wear, try a few types, i found if my undies were comfy the clothes didnt matter so much. I couldn't get on with maternity clothes until i had an actual bump last time. By summer you'll have a better sense for what's right for you and what you're comfy in. H&M do decent work stuff, i quite liked new look and top shop too last time. Seraphine have a sale on if you want nice work stuff 🩷

WickWood · 30/03/2024 13:37

@ButterflySkies Aww thank you! I will check out Seraphine. I did get a nice casual top from H&M yesterday and I tried a few things on in New Look, just leggings and long tops, they're probably fine but I think I'm just not used to seeing myself in anything other than jeans!

mrssunshinexxx · 30/03/2024 16:31

@WickWood check out maternity over the bump jeans on vinted they are cheap.
I lived in maxi dresses in summer

JLT24 · 30/03/2024 16:40

@WickWood im only 11 weeks and my normal leggings are getting too tight! Going to order some Lovall leggings this week and then some Bae or H&M cropped jeans in the next few weeks for summer. I’ll probably get a couple of maxi dresses too. Asos and New Look have a few nice tops too.

Bee49 · 30/03/2024 17:25

@WickWood it’s my second so I’m definitely bigger earlier but I was in maternity jeans at 8 weeks. I’m pretty sure I had a bump by 12 weeks last time and maternity jeans soon after that. It was probably only visible to me but I was sure people at work would have clocked on! This time people who know keep pointing out my bump and I’m struggling to hide it at work. My scan isn’t until 14 weeks so I’ve still got another 2 weeks of hiding to go.

@Nervous764367 also feel like a crap mum to my toddler. I feel sick constantly and I have zero energy.

Sorry can’t remember who and don’t want to loose what I’ve typed but I’ve also got the horrible taste. I found today that lemon hard boiled sweets helped a bit. Got to be lemon though!

RobynC28 · 30/03/2024 18:08

@rachisamumtobe if it makes you feel better I also had brown discharge /spotting plus cramping and had a scan at the epu at 11+2. Everything was fine - they thought it might be the placenta taking over causing the cramping and bleeding.
All the best with your scan!

rachisamumtobe · 31/03/2024 16:56

@RobynC28 thank you so much Robyn xxx I will think positively

CosyGreyLion · 31/03/2024 21:57

@IsLarryFromSomething I haven’t been on for a couple of days because I’ve just needed some downtime. Things haven’t been good at home at all. My husband went out and got very drunk on Friday and turned quite verbally nasty. He made it quite clear that he really didn’t want me to have this baby, that’s he doesn’t want our lives to change, he thinks me having the baby will ruin our business ect ect…. He eventually fell asleep and I’d made the decision that when he woke up in the morning I was going to end our marriage because I can’t cope with the stress of things anymore (not just the baby) except when he did eventually wake up he broke down crying full of apologies and saying how scared he was to have a baby at 41, how much he didn’t want our lives to change, how he didn’t mean anything he had called me ect. I was booked in for a private scan on Saturday afternoon so we ended up going for that. I guess I was hoping that him seeing the baby would make him come to terms with it a bit more (I’m 9+4 ) he has said he is going to try and be more positive now but I’ve told him he needs to get some help with his anger. I guess I just don’t feel like I’m good enough to carry his child. We have been together since my youngest were 4 (twins) they are now 12 and my oldest is 20 and he has brought all my children up like they are his own. He has one son who is 18 now. I too was scared when I first found out but then I felt so proud that I was going to give him another child. One that was ours together. Now I’m just left feeling so confused. Sorry for rambling on xx

IsLarryFromSomething · 31/03/2024 22:31

Oh I am so sorry to hear that. That sounds so difficult and scary. Ramble away, we are all here to support each other xx

I guess I just don’t feel like I’m good enough to carry his child.
Absolutely not the case. Does he make you feel like that?

dancingqueen345 · 01/04/2024 09:06

Hi ladies, apologies I'm not caught up on these threads but glad I've found it!

I'm 11+3 with baby number 2. Had a really easy pregnancy with no.1 but have been struggling with nausea for the last week, although there's been a lot of illness in my family so hoping it's just that!

I was in a group with my last baby (which eventually moved to Facebook) and still speak to them all almost daily for advice and a chat. Xx

WickWood · 01/04/2024 11:02

@CosyGreyLion I'm so sorry things are so difficult for you. If you did leave him, would you manage? X

I'm 14 weeks today, the baby is the size of a lemon/hamster! Still struggling with brushing my teeth, my gums are hurting and I have a few ulcers, tried to give them a good brush last night and ended up gagging and then throwing up all of the food I'd eaten. My mouth feels really unclean but just can't brush more than the front few.

Hope everyone has enjoyed the long weekend x

OneSunnyFox · 01/04/2024 13:05

@CosyGreyLion if you haven’t already, I found this page on Tommys which may be a good resource for you on options.

mrssunshinexxx · 02/04/2024 07:09

We announced to some friends and family this weekend including telling our little girls who are 2 and 3. Such a sweet reaction they both put their hands on my tummy and I welled up as did my husband. Precious moment. However since then 3 year old permanently asking for a girl and can we call it Elsa 🤣

aussiegirl89 · 02/04/2024 10:43

@WickWood I have exactly the same issue! Every time I brush my teeth fully I vomit everything in my stomach.

I'm finding using mouthwash 3 x a day really helpful. It doesn't make me gag but is definitely helping with plaque and that grim mouth taste.

Although I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and maybe the end is in sight as today I was able to brush my teeth and only gagged - no vom!

Joey2011 · 02/04/2024 13:07

It's been very quiet in here these past week. I hope everyone is doing OK? I'm just on countdown till the 12th for my scan and then the week after I'm going away to Copenhagen. I can't wait for a weekend break.
Going down to my DH parents the weekend of the 17th so if all goes well, we will be announcing to family 😊

WickWood · 02/04/2024 13:22

@aussiegirl89 It's rubbish isn't it! That's good that today was better, long may it last! I'm still feeling extremely nauseous at 14+1, I keep thinking I'm better then it returns!

Is anyone (who hasn't had bloods) getting an early sex scan? I hope to have mine in 2 weeks. So excited! X

WickWood · 02/04/2024 13:23

@Joey2011 Have a fab time away! X

mouldygrapes · 02/04/2024 13:40

Urgh yes I'm the same with teeth. Good shout re mouthwash. I've also got the lovely bleeding gums/blood when blowing nose, joy. Not even started aspirin yet!

OneSunnyFox · 02/04/2024 14:37

@mouldygrapes im glad I’m not the only one with nosebleeds.

I’ve found brushing my teeth a struggle; particularly with an electric toothbrush. If I’m feeling really bad I’ve also found using a manual one doesn’t trigger my gag reflex as much - I think the pressure of the electric is part of the issue.

@WickWood I’m also still vomming at what is now 14+2! Had 2 days of respite over the weekend and celebrated and got reacquainted with the toilet bowl this morning. I’ve heard 16 weeks is the corner from one of my close friends I confided in.

LuxeBiscuit · 02/04/2024 14:58

@mouldygrapes do you have your exemption certificate for free dental care?

This is the first time in my adult life that I've not had to pay for prescriptions/ dental care. It felt very strange when picking up my medication lol

spudnik1 · 02/04/2024 15:58

@mouldygrapes I have the nosebleeds . I find if I use the saline nasal spray when I first get up it helps to prevent them.

tink3rb3ll · 02/04/2024 17:16

Afternoon all, I haven't really done much chatting on the group due to fears of miscarrying.

Been for a scan today, now measuring 11+1.

I've been feeling quite ill with bad fatigue, I started feeling sick in the evening only, now it's all day, not actually been sick though.

I'm older (early 40s) I haven't told anyone or even been to the doctors yet, basically if my doctor knows then my work knows and I'm not ready for that yet. I'm supposed to be going away for 6-8weeks with work next week too. Panic is setting in.

Here's my scan pic, any guesses on the gender? I've always felt like I'm having a boy for some reason.

Booked myself in for a NIPT on Sunday.
