How long did people's screening results take to come back after the 12 week scan?

I had mine last Thursday and I've still not had my notes updated on the app and not recieved a letter. They said they update the app and post in 24 hours. I've had the nipt which was fine so less worried but would be good to know for sure. Post where I am is awful so not suprised I've not received anything, but would expect the app to have been updated.

I've emailed my midwife this evening when I came home to no letter. I presume they will call and leave a voice mail and try to contact quite urgently if there is a problem but has anyone else waited this long ?

WickWood · 27/03/2024 18:22

@RobynC28 I was told if something showed up I'd be contacted within 5 working days (but probably sooner) and if all is low risk I'd receive a letter within a couple of weeks.

@Oct24 my scan is booked for 12th April. Cant wait for it and hoping everything is still ok. Cant wait to tell everyone 😊
I'm coping alright without any pain relief atm I'm just a bit stiff and sore.
If it gets worse I'll speak to someone. But still I have no contact number for my midwife and she only works on a Monday 😕

Mine is also 12th April! I was surprised because it's in the evening. That probably makes it easier for partners to attend, although it didn't matter for us as he took the school holidays off.

My pregnancies were 2017/18 and 2021 and I definitely waited over a week, perhaps even two, to receive my screening letters saying there was a low chance. No news is good news I'd say, they contact more quickly if there is a concern.

Nervous764367 · 28/03/2024 06:59

@mrssunshinexxx Glad they are being supportive of your choices ❤️

My first baby was actually a vaginal delivery…but assisted with Kiwi cup. Second ended in C section. So I learnt my lesson and stayed home with my 3rd and they were born perfectly at home with no intervention at all.

One of my very close friends had her VBA2C and also my SIL sister had a VBA2C. You can do this 💪🏽

I have my 12 week scan this morning and I’m a nervous wreck. I really hope everything is ok.
I’ve had two losses in the past, so my anxiety around scans is really high 😞. Literally haven’t told a soul that we’re pregnant either, so if everything is ok it will be nice to start slowly telling people.

mrssunshinexxx · 28/03/2024 07:06

@Nervous764367 what was reason for your section ?
That's amazing love hearing about people having a vba2c. Did either have any regrets I guess my biggest fear is ending up with a huge tear / prolapse from a vaginal birth and recovery taking just as long as section plus then having a wrecked vag plus a wonky scar 😂
I also have bad haemorrhoids I was actually due to have surgery on them in August so very nervous about pushing stage and what would happen after.
I honestly had no idea the impact pregnancies could have on our bodies when I got pregnant with my first

Trifficult · 28/03/2024 07:17

@mrssunshinexxx when I had my booking appointment I was quite surprised at how positive midwife was about vbac. I think there has been a change in attitude surrounding it.

mrssunshinexxx · 28/03/2024 08:58

@Trifficult it's good isn't it but think consultant will be a different story tbh. What's your plan for birth x I want to really avoid an epidural this time and I have this niggle that this ones going to come fast from previous

Trifficult · 28/03/2024 09:05

@mrssunshinexxx I'm hoping for no epidural I think I'll be happier being able to move around. I remember being stuck in bed due to constant monitoring when I was induced with my son (ended in emcs). Its hard to know as not gone into labour naturally so fingers crossed I do this time around!
What about your plan?
Does consultant app come after dating scan?

Holl89 · 28/03/2024 09:08

@Nervous764367 I also have my 12 week scan today and I’m also a nervous wreck I feel sick 🥺
I’ve had a MMC in October and a chemical in Jan, so I know how you feel.

Wishing you all the luck 💕

mines in 35 mins - pray for me 🥺 x

rachisamumtobe · 28/03/2024 09:51

@Holl89 good luck hope everything goes to plan xx

WeightoftheWorld · 28/03/2024 10:31

@Nervous764367 @mrssunshinexxx My experiences are different from yours but similar in that I've had two utterly horrible births and so wish it would be different this time. Both of my kids were born by ventouse because I spent 2+hrs pushing with both and they just wouldn't come out and were both showing signs of distress (which was confirmed in the cord bloods they took too so they really did need to come out when they did). There wasn't really any 'reason' why that happened, they werent very big babies, I didn't have an epidural, or anything like that. So I have no confidence in my body to birth this one but then I don't really like the idea of a casearean either so feel stuck. Considered elective for my second but decided against it in the end as the odds were so much better so I was devastated that history repeated itself! I'm already starting to have nightmares about birth and worry about it so I think I will ask my midwife to refer me to the maternal mental health service about it when I see her at my 15 week appt.

In other news, DH was right, I should have got signed off work, cos I definitely overdid it as felt so sick yesterday and then was violently vomiting again at night. Gutted as had been feeling much better Sunday & Monday!

aussiegirl89 · 28/03/2024 10:50

@Sunandsea13 and @Oct24 good luck for the NIPT tests! Great news on your scan @Sunandsea13 💫💫💫

PineappleBella · 28/03/2024 12:37

Just had my 12 week scan! I’m slightly further along than I thought which is amazing. I’m 12 weeks 4 days, due October 6th if anybody has the same due date as me?

We managed to get a nub shot too! Anybody into the nub theory that can have a guess at what this little one may be?

OCTOBER 2024 BABIES :) THREAD 3
rachisamumtobe · 28/03/2024 12:41

@PineappleBella aww look at your baby! How wonderful xxx

Nervous764367 · 28/03/2024 13:09

@Holl89 Sorry to hear about your losses and I hope everything went ok for you this morning❤️. I really really struggle with scans. Our scan went well and baby is measuring 1 day ahead of where was expected. Such a relief.

@mrssunshinexxx My second ended is c-section because she wasn’t in a very good position and I had an epidural after they broke my waters so I was strapped to a bed and obviously my poor baby wasn’t going to be able to move in the ways needed to descend. She was also quite big at 9lb15 but I truly believe if I have had freedom of movement and they hadn’t broken my waters it would have been a different story

@WeightoftheWorld I’m sorry you had difficult births too. Both my first and second child were malpostioned and then I had an epidural which would have impeded their movement. With my 3rd I really got serious about baby positioning and saw a pregnancy chiropractor who adjusted me right up til my birth. That and being at home made all the difference. Both my other labours were 24 hours long and my 3rd was born 4 hours start to finish. Might be worth investing in ?? Xx

tryforbabynumber2 · 28/03/2024 13:11

@PineappleBella I'm going to say girl! Xxx

tryforbabynumber2 · 28/03/2024 13:16

@Holl89 Hope your scan has gone well this morning ❤️

mouldygrapes · 28/03/2024 14:13

My god I feel horrendous. My toddler was sick yesterday with d&v, she's much happier today but I'm floored with it.
my husband is away until late tonight and so just struggling through with TV and easy things to entertain the little one.
I've vomited today for the first time in a while; not sure if that's the bug or because my Xonvea ran out and I couldn't get to the pharmacy yesterday with having to change nappies so often, and today I can't be far from the bathroom 😔

Holl89 · 28/03/2024 15:04

Thank you @tryforbabynumber2 and @Nervous764367 ❤️

Scan went well 🥺 baby is measuring ahead at 12+4 due October 6th 🥰
Im so happy - it feels so surreal! Xxx

OCTOBER 2024 BABIES :) THREAD 3
PineappleBella · 28/03/2024 15:08

@Holl89 congratulations! We’re due date twins ❤️ also due on the 6th of October!

mrssunshinexxx · 28/03/2024 15:47

@WeightoftheWorld
It's such a difficult decision isn't it u literally tortured myself last time and went with vbac and literally gave it my all got told I was 10cm and started pushing for an hour baby really unhappy doctor came in did a VE I was actually only 8cm so had been pushing against cervix which is dangerous. My scar started pulsing / burning sensation and babies heart rate was dropping even before a contraction she had the cord round her neck twice when she came out. But I did dilate from 2-8cm with her in under 2 hours so I know I can labour. I'm really petrified about actually pushing one out and tearing

CosyGreyLion · 28/03/2024 22:21

Feel so stressed out right now…. Does anyone else’s Husbands not want them to continue with the pregnancy? My husband had a vasectomy reversal 4 years ago, we spent a year trying and then decided that it obviously hadn’t worked and we was more than content with how our lives were anyway and that we didn’t actually want another child (we have non together) So, it obviously came as a massive shock that 4 years after the reversal it had worked and now I’m pregnant. The thing is, my husband really does not want me to continue with the pregnancy. The youngest are 12 now (twin girls) the oldest is 20 (girl) and 3 boys in between. 1 child is his, 5 are mine. He doesn’t want our lives to change, we own our own business , we do what we want, go on holidays when we want ect. He keeps making snide remarks to me everyday about the fact that I’m going to be an older mum (38), it’s going to ruin our business, it’s not fair on the other children (all of which are very excited) he is been quite brutal and nasty and I’m just so hurt. There is no way I am getting rid of this baby. I honestly feel like it has happened for a reason but I am scared of doing it on my own. I don’t feel like he thinks I’m good enough to have his child. X

Shootystealy · 28/03/2024 22:22

Is anyone else have pain when lying down and trying to roll to the side? Like I've been doing core exercises but in my pelvis. I'm only around 12 weeks and not sure if this is normal

I got my NIPT back and all low risk 😌 I asked my friend to look and order a little cake just for me and husband

WickWood · 28/03/2024 23:04

@Shootystealy I get sharp pains in my stomach when moving if I'm lay down or getting out of the car etc, as though I've briefly pulled a muscle. Not in my pelvis yet though!

@CosyGreyLion I'm sorry, that sounds really difficult. I'm not in the same situation, but at the end of the day, the decision is yours and it sounds as though you've made your choice. Please don't let him pressure you into doing something you don't want to do x
