@LiviaX I think it would be a lovely birthday present haha

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 08:06

@WeightoftheWorld us too! It's my husbands birthday and a lot of other family members in October lol

Joey2011 · 25/03/2024 08:28

I was trying to avoid November. Literally every family member, including myself, is born in November!
So hoping for not too late past my due date of 20th October 😊

Booked in to see the dentist this morning. Have had a bad night's sleep with the pain.

LuxeBiscuit · 25/03/2024 09:19

Random Monday morning thought. But do the midwives do a pregnancy test using the blood / urine sample at the booking appointment?

Home tests are very accurate but you'd think they would want to check themselves before starting antenatal care.

hopingforapeainapod · 25/03/2024 09:40

Is anyone else struggling with light-headedness / dizziness at the moment? I’ve always had low blood pressure but I keep feeling super faint and breathless out of nowhere - all the classic symptoms like wobbly legs, funny vision, super dizzy, suddenly feel really hot - it gets better once I lie down but between that and the nausea I am now worried about going anywhere / leaving the house which isn’t much fun… is this just normal pregnancy symptoms or should I be talking to a GP? I have my midwife booking appointment next week so am tempted to just try and hold out til then…

spudnik1 · 25/03/2024 09:45

Morning, just sorting out the appointments for work and I have to see the consultant. Anyone had a consultant appointment before ? Is it just like a midwife appointment. So back at work in an hour ?

LuxeBiscuit · 25/03/2024 09:55

@hopingforapeainapod I had motion sickness during weeks 8/9 but I don't have a history of low blood pressure so it wasn't too terrible. Are you eating frequently and are you dehydrated? If you're fainting I'd get seen by the GP as quickly as possible.

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 10:09

@LuxeBiscuit no they don't and the doctors didn't do one either 😂

No, not with mine. I gave a urine sample for the usual checks and she specifically said "I'm not doing a pregnancy test, everyone always asks if it's still positive, but we don't do them!"

Missingpotatocroquettes · 25/03/2024 10:16

@hopingforapeainapod Me! I faint in the shower, if I'm in there too long or if the water is too warm. Also when I'm doing the washing up, I think it's the hot water on my wrists.

Luckily, there's always the signs that I'm going to faint first so I have time to sit down.

Joey2011 · 25/03/2024 11:05

So dentist said that I have an infection brewing. Filed what he could to relieve the pressure and see if that helps. Didn't want to give me antibiotics as they are safer in the 2nd trimester. So will see if it settles in a couple of weeks 😔

Strawbs92 · 25/03/2024 11:23

I am 10 weeks tomorrow and my symptoms have eased.. is this normal?
I had a scan last week and all was okay.

I haven't felt very pregnant through out this pregnancy, my only symptoms are fatigue. I might just be silly but I am just so anxious 😓

This pregnancy is SO different to my first.

@Joey2011 oh no! I hope your infection eases for you, must be hard.

Strawbs92 · 25/03/2024 11:24

Nic2908 · 22/03/2024 20:18

Hi ladies. Bit of a heartbreaking post from me. Baby had no heartbeat at our 12 week scan today. I’m booked in for surgical management on Monday. Thank you so much for all your kind words and support. You are all wonderful and I really wish you all the luck with your pregnancies.

I am so sorry for your news 😔i hope all goes well with the surgery today.
Sending lots of love ❤

Missingpotatocroquettes · 25/03/2024 11:41

@Strawbs92 I'm also 10 weeks tomorrow and experiencing the same thing. It's been awful so a bit of relief is nice but now I'm worrying that my symptoms are disappearing because something's wrong with the baby :(. I haven't had any scans yet and my first appointment is on the 5th of April so I guess I'll find out then. Hope everything turns out well for you too!

JLT24 · 25/03/2024 12:01

@Strawbs92 I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and my symptoms of nausea, food aversions, sore boobs and metal taste disappeared about 4 days ago. My tiredness is a lot better but not gone completely. First pregnancy so was a bit worried but have read it’s normal.

Me but like you my blood pressure is usually on the low side and Im sure it's just extra bad rn because I'm not drinking enough due to the nausea. I've fainted a few times over the past few weeks but the last few days my nausea is a bit better and drinking more so been less light headed. Are you sure you are drinking enough fluid? That's the most common cause of low blood pressure. Make sure when you get up from sitting to always do it very slowly too.

Strawbs92 · 25/03/2024 12:23

@Missingpotatocroquettes Perhaps it is a good thing if we are both experiencing the same? I am sure they say from 9 weeks the placenta takes over so maybe that's why we have had some relief? I have only had scans as i have had on/off bleeding throughout so the EPAU has checked me out. I had my first booking appointment last week but i don't have a scan until the 12th April for my 12 weeks! Yes, same for you too. I guess if we are experiencing the same then it's a good thing.

@JLT24 Thank you for the reassurance! I have been taking a nap every day and yesterday was the first day i didn't need one 😐. I think it's something to do with the placenta taking over but it is SO hard when your mind is in over drive isn't it! Best of luck to you too.

LuxeBiscuit · 25/03/2024 12:31

@mouldygrapes @rachisamumtobe oh interesting. You'd think it would be the first thing they did!

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 12:42

@LuxeBiscuit yes I rang the doctors to confirm my pregnancy but they said I didn't need to do another test at the doctors. Anyway I know I'm definitely pregnant lol

hopingforapeainapod · 25/03/2024 12:43

@LuxeBiscuit I’m not actually fainting as normally my body gives me plenty of warning so I can sit down / lie down before it gets too bad….

@Missingpotatocroquettes yeah heat also really affects me! I’m a teacher and I was stood by a massive tall radiator on full blast in assembly the other day and I had to leave because I was over-heating and started seeing stars! It’s such a horrible feeling when it comes on…

@WeightoftheWorld I probably could drink a bit more tbh it is just hard because I feel pretty nauseous still!

I’m 9.5 weeks and reading all these posts about people finding relief around the 10 week mark and I’m really hoping the same thing will happen for me!! 🤞

IsLarryFromSomething · 25/03/2024 13:05

Thanks for the reminder that they do a urine test at the booking appointment. I'm on my way to mine but had a wee before leaving work, so I have to get some kind of drink on the way haha.

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 14:26

@IsLarryFromSomething have a good first appointment! X

lpylou · 25/03/2024 14:33

@Strawbs92 completely normal for symptoms to lift at 10 weeks. Happened to me and all is well, had a private scan at 11 weeks as had spotting too and was so worried but baby was wriggling around.

IsLarryFromSomething · 25/03/2024 16:02

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 14:26

Thank you! It was all really good.

Has anyone else's midwife suggested a home birth as an option?

I live a bit far from both hospitals so it is kind of appealing, I hadn't realised you could have one for your first baby but apparently you can. I haven't done any research on it yet though!

rachisamumtobe · 25/03/2024 16:05

@IsLarryFromSomething that's great to hear! X
