Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

OP posts:

@Ek21 How has your little one's sleep been? My DS was up from 12-2:30 then woke at 3:30, 4:30, 5:30 and 7. No idea what got into him but wondering if it's the same thing your little one is going through. He didn't seem particularly hungry or upset just really struggling to stay asleep. I meanwhile was really struggling to stay awake!

Janeykat · 01/07/2024 09:52

My daughter's longest block of sleep now seems to be 2 hours😭finding the broken nights difficult, she is 11 weeks tomorrow and I really need a solid chunk of sleep soon. I expressed a bottle for my partner to give her yesterday but she just drank it all and then cryed until he brought her to me, she wont settle for him at all.

Heya everyone, I wonder if anyone started resume some sort of fitness with the aim to lose weight. I did lose confidence at times, looking at my waistline not as before but I have no clue how to lose weight - given I am also eating for two for breastfeeding.

Also anyone been swimming? I am considering do a swim but had this silly thought thinking what if I am leaking or shooting off milk! which happened at times when I am bathing or showering.😅

Mrsttcno1 · 01/07/2024 12:38

@MumDaisy1980 I’ve been back exercising from 6 weeks postpartum. I do swimming class with baby every week now but obviously I don’t get to swim then, she loves it though! I’ve just gone back to my previous exercise gym/running but built it up very gradually and listening to my body as to what is “too much”. I didn’t resume with the goal of losing weight, exercise is good for my mind and I really missed it when I was hugely pregnant but obviously weight loss has come with it x

Ek21 · 01/07/2024 14:46

Hi @sugarplum33 my little one has been much better the last 2 nights, she slept 11.30-7.45 straight and last night it was 11-3.30 and 4-7.30. She had been waking similiar to your little one but hopefully she is past that now. Here's hoping your little one settles as well!

Iamcatmum · 01/07/2024 16:13

@Janeykat @Cora24601 glad I’m not the only one who has a baby who still feeds constantly and wakes constantly. Last night was a new low he slept for about an hour total between 1am-8am. He has potential food allergies and silent reflux, and is also tracking very small so I’m hoping things will improve as he puts on weight. Rotavirus vaccine has also thrown him further out of sorts for the last 2+ weeks, to the point we may need to postpone or cancel the second dose. Do your babes have any problems to pinpoint why they are waking so much?

Feels like everyone on my NCT has babes that are only waking once a night and they all seem to have tonnes of energy to go to baby groups/do fun things during the day. I know they say every baby is different and don’t compare but it’s really hard😩

Janeykat · 01/07/2024 16:46

@Iamcatmum my daughter has suspected CMPA so I have cut out dairy and soy but she still has a slight rash on her face and loose nappies so I am unsure if she is reacting to something else. She also had a tongue tie that was cut, I think that may be impacting on feeding. I finally have a pediatricians appointment tomorrow so I will ask him about sleep/feeding and report back :)

Petris123 · 01/07/2024 16:50

@Janeykat glad to know the pain has improved! I hadn't thought about the mouth getting bigger and the possibility of that changing the way they latch, let's hope so! I'm hoping that would reduce the pain!
@sugarplum33 @Ttcmumma @Janeykat any of you also feeling completely physically drained by breastfeeding? I got cuts at the side of my mouth which I think can be down to lack of vitamins, they went away once my mum came over and fed me like crazy for 3 weeks. It seems they're reappearing now so trying to keep up with the food intake
I was wondering what do you eat in a day if you don't mind sharing?

Ttcmumma · 01/07/2024 17:04

@Petris123 honestly way too much is what I eat! I eat cereal for breakfast, usually curry for lunch and my dinners vary everyday. I snack constantly and large quantities. Usually cereal before bed too. I eat a lot. I have a very active job of dog walking that I've been back to since baby was a month old. I am exhausted but I don't get much time to sit down in a day and then up feeding and pumping in the night so don't know if it's lifestyle or the breastfeeding draining me!

Oh I recently upped my intake of fruit and smoothies and it massively helped baby poo more often as she was going up to 7 days without poos before and becoming very unsettled with it!

For those with fussy babies, unlikely the be the same but something I've worked out with my little one. When breast feeding they say to give baby vitamin d drops daily. These drops give my baby severe belly pain and she screams all day long. When I stop them, she's the happiest, chillest baby! The doctor prescribed her a different vitamin and it's made such a difference for her. I never would have thought a vitamin could cause so many issues but it really did. I trialled it multiple times too, giving them for a few days, stopping for a week then trying again etc. it was definitely the drops!

Cora24601 · 01/07/2024 18:04

@Iamcatmum wow, that sounds like such a tough night bless you! I hope you have gotten a nap in today! Every night is different and not having a routine of sleep is really tough, I never know how much sleep il get!
it does seem that everyone else has babies that are starting to sleep through which can get really disheartening but I've known mums have it harder with sleep believe it or not!
My boy is in 3-6 months clothes but only on 15th percentile for weight (within his curve though) but they are happy enough with his weight atm just hoping it stays that way. It does make me worry he's not getting enough if he's so hungry all the time.
Not sure why he eats so often. He has a crazy startle reflex still which wakes him up but in all honesty I think he's just hungry or that's all I can't think of! Where he doesn't nap he seems to eat to sleep so think he's falling asleep before a full feed but I can't keep him awake sometimes. That is unless I put him down, he always seems to wake to that 😂 sometimes I think babies just are the way they are, no issues with reflux or allergies on my side. My son has always fought sleep, he's always been more interested in being awake and looking at things, I think it's just part of his personality!

sugarplum33 · 01/07/2024 19:10

@Ek21 That's great to hear, hopefully it settles for us soon too

@Iamcatmum That sounds really tough :( sounds like your little one has a lot going on, are you getting support with the allergies?

@Petris123 I feel okay but I do eat plenty, you need an extra 500 calories a day breastfeeding so definitely make sure you're eating enough. I was told off by the midwives in the early days as I was regularly skipping meals as I just wasn't prioritising myself and at that point hubby made sure to bring me a huge bowl of porridge every morning to start me off. Oats are good for milk production so they're a good thing to eat, I often have porridge or quickly meal prep some overnight oats. If I'm having a bad night I've been known to eat them in the early hours for an energy boost. Then good solid meals and sometimes snacks too. Today I was healthy and had salad, fruit and yoghurt and other days it's pizza and biscuits 🤣

Ek21 · 01/07/2024 19:22

@sugarplum33 i should also say that my little one loves to fight her sleep and naps can be short 30-40 mins.

Thank you for sharing! It’s also in my plan to go for some sort of mummy and baby class. But somehow everyday just gone so quickly - feel like by the time I get baby and I freshen up in the morning is already mid-afternoon. Ha~

ASGIRC · 01/07/2024 20:23

Hey guys!!

My 3 month old is doing great! Shes still sleeping from 11ish to 7ish, and then down again until 11am, pretty consistently (it can be midnight to 8am, but shes pretty good)

She is holding her neck up really well and hating tummy time a bit less, now that she can look up, but still not a big fan!

She is bottle fed, and only feeds 5 times a day, around 150ml each time, so thats really under control! Were going on a trip next weekend! Her first time on a plane!

And today I heard back from the nursery, saying they have a place for her in September!!! So yay!!!

It’s definitely worth trying them if you feel up to it! We do baby sensory, baby & mama yoga, baby swimming lessons and then baby massage and it’s just nice to have something planned in the day to get out and about! And my baby has come on loads since starting each class so it’s lovely to see them developing and seeing all the babies starting to notice each other x

Mrsttcno1 · 04/07/2024 16:19

Hi everyone, just hoping for some advice! My baby is 11 weeks old and for the last few days she is showing all the signs of teething, but surely she is too young to be teething? She has a slight temperature, her cheek is pink, she’s grinding her gums together and chewing her hands constantly (not hungry as happens all the time even immediately after feeds), and she’s drooling so much that I’m having to change her clothes every few hours because they are literally soaking wet! I called the health visitor to ask about it today and she essentially just said yes, sounds like teething, but no advice on how to help as the teething bits we’ve got she is too young for still so we’re a bit stuck. Has anybody else experienced this? Any tips? We have teething toys but because she is younger than expected she can’t consistently hold things yet and the powder we have for her gums says it’s not suitable for her age x

Ttcmumma · 04/07/2024 16:41

@Mrsttcno1 yeah the doctors told me sister her son was too young to be teething at 11 weeks too but that's a load of rubbish. My daughter's 12 weeks and 100% shown signs of teething. Including chewing on my finger aggressively and drooling everywhere! The powder for teething is 3 months and your little one is only a week away from 12 weeks which is 3 months so you can probably start using it soon. I hold the toys for my daughter. You can also buy mitten teethers they wear them on their hand so it's the same coordination as chewing their own hand but with a teether attached to it! You can even make little breast milk ice lollies or get water into a dummy teat and freeze it for her to suck on x

Aprilpudding24 · 11/07/2024 12:56

Anyone else's babe going through a sleep regression? My girl has gone from sleeping in her own cot at night n napping for 3+ hours at a time to only contact sleeping if that and 30 minute naps! Shes not unwell or hungry etc. I'm shattered, I was getting all excited for her next stage n feel like I've gone backwards! Just wondered if anyone else is walking the floor a lot at the moment 😭

Ttcmumma · 11/07/2024 12:59

@Aprilpudding24 I think we may have! Baby girl went from daytime naps fine wherever, nighttime sleeping in her own bed all night with two wake up for feeds. She still puts herself to sleep at night the first time but last few nights she's been waking a lot and crying until I hold her. She never usually cries in the night! Just moans for a feed then straight back to sleep x

This is literally my life the last few nights, goes to sleep fine on her own for about 3/4 hours then basically just wants to be held until morning. Praying it is just a phase! X

emilyelf · 11/07/2024 18:20

@Aprilpudding24 my 12 week old for the past couple of weeks has been a nightmare during the day. Her naps are like cat naps and then gets herself in such a state that she's inconsolable. Nighttime's we are ok (touching wood) but day time she's making my life miserable. She won't sleep in the pram for longer than 30 mins, she won't sleep in her cot for more than 30 mins and when she's awake for the next two hours once she wakes up from her 15-30 min catnap, she is a nightmare until she falls back asleep. I don't know what's going on as we aren't at the 4 month sleep regression where I experienced it with my first born which was at nighttime's but I don't remember experiencing a daytime sleep regression.

Aprilpudding24 · 11/07/2024 21:03

Sounds like we're all having the same issues. I've been desperately searching the far the corners of the internet in the middle of the night wide awake for advice n tips. I've downloaded the huckleberry app to see if it helps get her into a better sleep routine as some people who sound like they have been in similar situations say it could be due to overtiredness? Has anyone tried it?

@emilyelf my girl is also so inconsolable in between naps. It takes me forever to calm her down enough to get her back off to sleep for it to only last 20-30 minutes n I have to then start all over again. It's exhausting.

Mrsttcno1 · 12/07/2024 09:55

@Aprilpudding24 I’ve had the huckleberry app since she was born and just use it to track feeds and sleep but it hasn’t helped me get her to sleep better really, it just mocks me when I look at the chart at the end of the day and see how little sleep she’s had😂😂

Janeykat · 12/07/2024 10:42

My 12 week old was up 5 times last night and wouldnt go back without a feed, was pulling and fussing while feeding too...my poor nipples :( I thought that 3 month marks a time of less feeds/more sleep etc but we seem to be going backwards :(

Aprilpudding24 · 12/07/2024 11:29

@Mrsttcno1 haha aw no really. Just another washout Like everything else I've wasted money on trying to get this kid to sleep 😂 each time I'm convinced this will be it n it never is.
