Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

OP posts:

@Mrsttcno1 it's funny you just wrote that on the walk today I used the slight incline flap I have on mine for the first time and she was perfectly happy just having a nosy. Full of smiles n no tears. It was nice to see her properly on the walk too felt like she was actually enjoying it.

firstswear · 25/06/2024 18:44

I know this is an April due date thread but was wondering if those that have changed the pram settings to the next one up and how many weeks old their babies are?

Mrsttcno1 · 25/06/2024 19:37

Hi @firstswear I have changed to the next pram seat up, my baby is nearly 10 weeks old, but my “next pram seat up” is actually also suitable from newborn as it lies totally flat. I think if your pram doesn’t go fully flat the advice is not to change to that seat until your baby has good head control x

firstswear · 25/06/2024 20:25

@Mrsttcno1 oh perfect. My lo is 10 weeks old and I have the bugaboo fox. We actually don't have a issue with the bassinet, she takes her naps in there. The only issue we have is that it is so bulky with the bassinet on x

firstswear · 25/06/2024 20:28

And also is anyone's baby so so so fussy these days. I know the heat gets to them but we live in a north facing vic terrace so it's not very hot actually in the house but she is so unsettled today for the past few days and was wondering if there was some developmental leap. She's 10 weeks old x

sugarplum33 · 25/06/2024 22:14

@firstswear Not sure about a leap but my 10 week old has been horrendous the past few days, yesterday he barely slept the entire day and was absolutely miserable. I had a cry when he finally fell asleep in the evening it was so draining.

Cora24601 · 25/06/2024 22:32

They say weeks 6-8 are the highest in terms of crying but honestly I've found weeks 8-10 the worst! My son is 10 weeks and seems to just be turning a corner now. Still fighting naps and all of a sudden now cries when in the car but generally better 🙈 fingers crossed it continues! @sugarplum33 I've been there a lot the last 2 weeks! Fighting sleep is the worst! Chin up, it has to get better surely 😊

SummerOak · 26/06/2024 15:33

Hi everyone, glad all the babies are doing well. Mine is almost 12 weeks, can't believe how fast time goes now. He still likes walks in the pram and car seat. He absolutely hates any kind of carrier so I need to hold him over my shoulder all the time. He's getting heavy already, not sure how I'll keep that up past 4 months.

MumDaisy1980 · 29/06/2024 02:39

Hello everyone, curious to know how’s everyone getting on with the night feed? My son is 13 week old, I had a couple of times that he slept from 9pm to 5.30am. He definitely regularly feel sleepy by 9pm but not yet sleep through to 5 or 6am. I am breastfeeding. At the moment he sometimes wake up 2am or sometimes at 4am. Wonder when will he naturally off the night feed?!

Cora24601 · 29/06/2024 10:16

@MumDaisy1980 I was actually going to post to ask this! My son is 11 weeks and I'm desperately waiting for him to drop a night feed! Currently he does 9pm, 11 (when we go to bed) 2am, 5 am and then 8am. And this is on a good night! Sometimes he likes a random 4am feed as well! I feel like this is still a lot and should probably have reduced by now. He also still feeds every 2 hours in the day. His weight is fine and definitely getting enough he just seems to be a hungry boy! On the plus side he is getting more efficient at feeding so not taking so long anymore.

sweetdreams23 · 29/06/2024 11:00

@MumDaisy1980 @Cora24601 completly noemal for them to wake in the night for feeds. my first daughter woke probably every 2/3 hours every night for a feed until about 1 years old. And carried on with wakes even once we finished breastfeeding. Probably only just got her sleeping through now at 4 years old.It was hard.My baby girl is just waking once in the night at 11 weeks and has been for a good month or so. every baby is completely differenty! but totally normal for them to wake multiple times. Although the broken sleep is hard for sure

MumDaisy1980 · 29/06/2024 11:28

@sweetdreams23 thank you! I wonder why no one on earth has ever said that would last for a year without full night sleep!! So many people congrats us and saying how beautiful these moment of our life and we should take tons of photos everyday!! When every day all I want to do is to sleep!! Ha. Joke aside, thank you for sharing. Overall the experience is gradually improving just at times really hard to bare!

@Cora24601 ha, you are not alone! Seems all the April mama are with you!

Ttcmumma · 29/06/2024 14:11

My first born didn't sleep through the night until 4 years old either 🤣 I dropped the night feeds at 1 but that doesn't stop them calling out for you/wandering in your room. He only slept 20 minutes at a time, on my chest for pretty much 4 years so my daughter waking 2, maybe 3 times a night is absolutely bliss to me 😍

sugarplum33 · 29/06/2024 16:25

@MumDaisy1980 My little boy tends to sleep about 8/9-2 then has quite a long feed and wakes again at about 5. I thought I'd tinker with this last night and try a dream feed at 11 to see if that pushed his wake later but I ended up with him feeding at 11 and a bit tricky to settle then awake at 2 and 5 anyway so I didn't really achieve anything haha. 8-2 is obviously great but means I'm going to bed at the same time as the kids to get a good chunk of sleep and not getting any real time with my husband. We've got so many programmes on our sky planner we haven't had chance to watch yet 🤣

Ek21 · 29/06/2024 16:40

My little girl was sleeping 10/11 until 4/5 then again until 8 after afeed, but the last week she will not sleep in her crib for more than an hour at a time. Not sure why this is happening if anyone has any ideas? She had her first injections on mondatly, but was fine on tuesday full of smiles again.

sugarplum33 · 29/06/2024 16:45

@Ek21 Could it be a growth spurt? Is she waking hungry? Or maybe tummy troubles from the jabs. The rotavirus jab can give them a sore tummy and my little boy always struggles with wind and tummy pain most at night.

Ek21 · 29/06/2024 16:51

Hi @sugarplum33 Maybe it is a growth spurt, she is dribbling and blowing bubbles a lot. She doesn't seem to be in pain or have wind, I wait until she is asleep to put her in her crib, but she moves loads and wakes and i have to start rocking and soothing her again. She is ebf so i feed when she wants and she always feeds before going asleep. Not sure where i am going wrong...

Pinkstuffs · 29/06/2024 18:24

@Ek21 my health visitor gave me a really helpful handout which has all the stages where you can expect babies to be unsettled in their first year of life. There is a developmental leap around 8 - 10 weeks, so it could be this. My DS normally sleeps 10 - 5 as well but he’s woken up a few times the last week around 2 - 3am; he is 9 weeks old. I don’t think the heat has helped either.

Ek21 · 29/06/2024 18:48

@Pinkstuffs oh really? I am in Ireland so don't have that leaflet. Could you post a pic please? My little girl is 10 weeks.

Petris123 · 30/06/2024 12:55

Anyone breastfeeding who is finding it really hard? My little girl had a tongue tie which we snipped at 5 weeks, she improved a bit immediately but after a few days it was hurting again (she is almost 9 weeks). It seems she won't latch well. If she does she then changes the latch and it starts hurting again. I've been going to the lactation consultant, I know the theory of how it's supposed to be, but it just seems impossible to achieve 😟 I really want to carry on with breastfeeding but really unsure how to proceed, any advice?

As for sleeping, she feeds around 9, then 11, 3:30/4 and then 6 or 7.

Ttcmumma · 30/06/2024 18:10

@Petris123 my little one hadn't been keen on the nipple since my milk came in on day 3. She latches best with nipple shields, occasionally straight to breast. Usually if no shield she licks my nipple and laughs 🤣. I pretty exclusively express and she drinks the breast milk from a bottle. I try to put her on the breast at least once a day to keep my body in tune with her needs.

sugarplum33 · 30/06/2024 18:45

@Petris123 Breastfeeding has been quite a journey for us too and my little boy has been very slow to gain weight. My latch isn't great despite lots of support and a tongue tie snip and my nipples are always misshapen although I've never suffered pain with it thankfully. I totally get the theory vs reality, I'm just so uncoordinated trying to get him on and then if we do get a good latch then, like you, we quickly lose it. I'm getting yet another support visit tomorrow where she will show me how easy it is to just pop him on correctly and then I'll try and feel like I need an extra four hands to achieve it. I do really enjoy breastfeeding for the most part but it's not been an easy ride.

Janeykat · 30/06/2024 19:41

@Petris123 i have also found breastfeeding difficult, i lot of pain/damaged nipples at the start, my girl got her tongue tie cut at 3 weeks. Over time the pain improved and is now gone, but i dont think her latch is greatlike you and @sugarplum33 the latch can start off good and then we loose it. Her feeds can take agessometimes up to an hour which makes middle of the night wakes very long and tiring 😫 we are at 3 wakes per night currently which seems like a lot. I am hoping that as she grows and her mouth gets bigger her latch will improve and become more efficient🤞

Petris123 · 30/06/2024 20:48

@Ttcmumma oh so are you using nipple shields long term? I'm wondering whether I should use them too
@sugarplum33 same here, I have misshapen nipples and pain, it's not too bad for now, but I'm thinking of when she'll have teeth coming out?

Ttcmumma · 01/07/2024 02:22

@Petris123 yes, atleast to start the feed. Sometimes I can take them off hallway through and she will latch to the nipple but most of the time she will only latch if I use the shield.
