Hey guys, new thread for the April due dates.

Looks like the other thread maxed out before someone could make a new one, so I'll tag a few people and then if they could tag a few and they tag a few and so on, so we can try and get everyone in.

There's no way I can get everyone tagged myself, it's a nightmare on mobile.

OP posts:

@Janeykat yeah my girl is 5 weeks today and acting the same. She was crying n awake from 7-11pm last night which is really unlike her and all throughout the day she was unsettled just napping for an hour or so. She was the same on Saturday too.
I also tried a dummy it worked for about two days. She occasionally has it now but most of the time she spits it out or knocks it away.
I know how blessed I am and I'm sure I'll look back on this time n miss it but is anyone else looking forward to the fourth trimester coming to an end and the next chapter starting 🫣

I just want to sleep again 😭

sugarplum33 · 27/05/2024 17:55

@Janeykat There's a big 6 week growth spurt so if your little one is wanting to feed constantly it could be to do with that. My little boy is 6 weeks today and was really frustrated and hungry feeding from about 8-11 last night with no break which isn't like him.

Janeykat · 27/05/2024 18:18

@Aprilpudding24 @sugarplum33 thanks, its reasurring to know that others are experiencing similar, hopefully it is that 6 week growth spurt and will be over soon🤞 I have noticed she no longer fits her newborn clothes! I dont mind the feeding so much, its the not being able to sleep for more than an hour even at night😖but managed to express a bottle of milk today so will give that to my partner this evening and hopefully get a few hours🤞🤞

Mrsttcno1 · 28/05/2024 16:20

@Janeykat my baby also has recently gone through this but it only lasted a few nights! She only naps during the day if she’s being held but she’s always been like that, I put a muslin in my bra all day and put that under her at night so she can still smell me and I wait until she’s in a deep sleep on my chest before transferring to the next to me, then I just keep my hand on her tummy all night- not the comfiest for me obviously but it means we get 3-4 hour stretches of sleep at night so it’s worth it!😂 and she is also always awake for 2-3 hours at a time during the day, sometimes 4, I think she’s just nosy and doesn’t like to miss out! X

Janeykat · 28/05/2024 20:42

@Mrsttcno1 i think it may have only lasted a few days for us too-- she slept in blocks of 3 hours last night in her cot, and had 2 hour naps today... I really have my fingers crossed for tonight 😅🤞 we used a tighter swaddle last night and I think that really helped too, her arms were waking her up. Thats a great idea about the muslim, definitely going to try that, thanks. That is impressive that you are able to keep your hand on her all night, im not sure I could do that! Hope we all start getting some nice stretches of sleep with our April babies :)

sugarplum33 · 19/06/2024 06:41

How are all the April mums and babies getting on?

DS is 9 weeks now and it's lovely to see him more alert and interactive. He's pretty chilled when he's had enough sleep but a real misery when he hasn't- a bit like me 🤣 he's still a bit slow gaining weight but going in the right direction and most definitely growing longer as I'm having to start getting the 3-6 months bits out. I think with how bad the weather has been the 0-3 summer rompers may have missed their chance :) hope everyone is well!

Cora24601 · 19/06/2024 10:46

Hi! My little boy will be 10 weeks on Friday and we are in 3-6 month babygrows as well! His feet are big and he's just so long 😂 loving the smiles and getting some laughing and real personality its brilliant! I can tell he will be a social little guy, he's got a smile for anyone he meets! Same as you @sugarplum33 though, a right misery when not enough sleep and he's started fighting his naps! I used to be able to put him down whenever but now as soon as he gets put down he's awake and crying! He also won't have any of this drowsy but awake business! Yesterday he had 2 30 min naps from 9am until 7pm! I don't know how he fights it so much! It took me over an hour to get him down for one of those naps! 🤯

Ek21 · 19/06/2024 14:00

I am also finding it so hard with naps. My little one used to sleep during the day fine, but has started fighting it, then gets overtired and screams. Has anyone any tips/advice on how to get past this stage?

Pinkstuffs · 19/06/2024 14:07

My DS is 8 weeks now and we are still in newborn 🙈 just getting into a few 0-3 months bits as he needs the length! He weights about 9lb but is following his little curve on the 2nd centile so doctors aren’t concerned.

@Ek21 my DS is the same with daytime naps, I can’t put him down for sleep in the house as he won’t nap so I end up walking miles with the pram or the carrier. Not ideal with the rain we are having but good for getting us out. He’s started sleeping through 10 - 5 more often than not so I’m just grateful for that!

My little one used to sleep great in the carrier or pram but in the last week or so she even hates them! Unless she is really asleep going into them she won't stay asleep. It makes going anywhere quiet difficult so I hope it passes soon.

Janeykat · 19/06/2024 20:03

My little girl also hates the pram, carrier and car seat at the moment which is making things challenging😅 she sleeps fairly well (ish) swaddled in a dark room, but that is very hard to do for naps as also have a 4 year old.
Jealous of people getting long streches of sleep, we've had 3x occasions where she slept 6 hours overnight, but mostly every 2/3 hours😴 but she has suspected cmpa and I am only 2 weeks off dairy so I feel that may have caused some of her unsettledness.
Its crazy how the time passes and how quickly they grow, my girl has started cooing we have been having little conversations :) how much tummy time is everyone doing? I must admit I have been a bit lax, she really hates it

Cora24601 · 19/06/2024 23:48

@Janeykat my boy doesn't mind tummy time but my partner tends to have him on his chest when he's laying down and he loves that but his favourite is being on my shoulder. He was on my shoulder when the health visitor arrived a few weeks back and she mentioned that it's actually a form of tummy time because it really encourages the use of all of the neck muscles so maybe just carrying her like that would be better for her if she enjoys that instead of being laid out on her tummy.

Pinkstuffs · 19/06/2024 23:50

@Janeykat my baby also hates being laid on his Playmat on his tummy but will lay for hours laid on me or on my shoulder. His head control is quite good from doing that.

sugarplum33 · 20/06/2024 01:40

We are getting lots of nap fighting too @Cora24601 @Ek21 so frustrating when you can see they're so tired. I'd definitely not fight anybody trying to get me to take a nap right now.

@Janeykat The dark room sounds familiar, my DS sleeps fairly well in the dark with white noise and no distractions. Add his four year old sister into the mix and it's impossible.

We also hate tummy time here 🤣 we try instead lots of shoulder time and a bit of flying him around like an aeroplane haha. I'm not stressing about it this time, the HV had me really worried and arranged a follow up as DD was so bad at tummy time, talk of potentially needing physio. A few months later and after never really getting on with tummy time could crawl up a whole flight of stairs at 7 months and hasn't stopped moving since haha. They'll get there :)

Mrsttcno1 · 20/06/2024 10:16

Yep we have nap fighting here as well🙃 even though she’s yawning, she will fight that nap until the very last possible second!

We do quite a bit of tummy time, I do a few baby groups and all of those incorporate tummy time which she much prefers to doing it at home, but she’ll now tolerate tummy time on her play mat and blankets etc!

MumDaisy1980 · 24/06/2024 19:59

Just joining the convo saying my 12 week old son generally sleep fine. But recently not settle due to gas or wind. Could see him very uncomfortable. He didn’t poo for two days but fart. Only. Then when he made a huge poo, he sleep nice and sound. However, I believe he could manage to sleep through the night. Just that it had been my boobs so full and leaked. It’s me have to wake him up to feed to off load the milk. Anyone got any tips to address this?

how’s everyone coping with the heatwave ? My baby struggle to sleep all day time. He was on short sleeve sleepsuit. The room was 25 degree. But surprisingly after I added on long sleeve sleepsuit he sleep well.

glad to hear from everyone!

94kj · 25/06/2024 02:27

Hi all, hope you and babies are all doing well! How were your babies after their 1st jabs around 8 weeks? My little girl had hers om Friday and has become progressively sleepier since then, she's also feeding less and I can't wake her up for a feed in the night (she has a go but it literally lasts about 1 or 2 mins) whereas she usually wakes up once or twice per night for a feed. Her soft spot is more sunken now too but still lots of wet nappies. Took her to the GP today who said she can't find anything wrong!

MumDaisy1980 · 25/06/2024 02:31

Hello , mine after 1st jab, yes very sleepy - slept through all afternoon. There was one hour window that he looked very unsettled. Then return to sleep 9/10pm as per usual. Evening I can’t remember of less feed so presumed one feed that evening again per usual.

I did give paracetamol as advices after the 1st jab.

Emilyj13 · 25/06/2024 07:13

Any tips with help for little one to sleep after night feed? He's 10 weeks and I’m now starting to feel shattered.
We are getting around 4.5 hours from around 10pm (which is much better since a couple of weeks ago where we only have x2 2 hours per night) but he will not settle after this long stretch so pretty much awake from 2am which is a killer.
I put him down and he just doesn’t sleep, moves a lot, kicks his legs in the air, chats away, moans. Doesn’t necessary cry until he’s obviously got too tired himself and then gets upset.

Emilyj13 · 25/06/2024 07:15

@94kj morning,
mine didn’t sleep more but when off his food and only a week later is eating a full bottle when we were lucky if he would eat half the week after. Also cried a lot! I don’t think it helped that apparently he was also in the fussy stage of leap 2.

MumDaisy1980 · 25/06/2024 07:48

@Emilyj13 I feel for you. It happened to me before also. did you feed again when he woke up like 2am?

whenver he unsettle my first call is feed first even just did a feed already. Then try change nappy presume he is not comfortable. Recently my son got gas so yes his legs in the air often , will do massage . I also play songs , I tried several clips from YouTube and this works for my baby to sleep . Tucked baby in cozily. A trick I learnt from Instagram (but I don’t use it often , I feel tired myself) . When holding baby, slowly rotate in one direction.

Glad to hear all the little babes are coming along lovely ❤️

Mine also isn't a fan of tummy time haha. Tbh at the minute she isn't a fan of much. Like some of you have said things she's used to enjoy like walks in the pram n carrier have gone. Must be phase around this time!

Does anyone else baby wriggle all the time!?. Mine never seems to keep still. In her cot she always makes her way to one side in the night n has her arm sticking out the side and wakes herself up wiggling it about! I'm Swaddling her to try n get her legs n arms to stay still but she really fights to get out of the swaddle every time. I'll go over to the cot in the night n she's just there big smiles wiggling looking pleased with herself for escaping my swaddle 😂

My babe really has a side preference too and I'm worried she's going to get a flat head on one side. I try moving it to the other side but she either moves it back or just wakes up then. Anyone got any tips to help in that area if they also have the same issue?

Cora24601 · 25/06/2024 11:48

@94kj my son wasn't great right after the jabs but also had a funny turn about a week after his jabs. We just gave calpol and he settled back. He would feed but scream whilst feeding. It was horrendous, not looking forward to the next ones. I was a mess also 😢

@Aprilpudding24 my boy is a very big wriggler! He also still has a really strong startle reflex where I know some babies have started to settle down by now. We haven't swaddled since he was a couple weeks old because he was so strong he could fight out of the swaddles and I felt he wanted to be out flailing his arms and he does! but we do use the tommee tipee swaddle sacks with his arms out. They might work for you with arms in? I do find he sleeps a little better in this and I do think he knows when he's in it it's bed time. The good thing is they are snug around the chest and body but loose on the legs so not sure if this makes a difference compared to other sleep sacks.

Mrsttcno1 · 25/06/2024 12:33

For those who have said babies are suddenly not liking the pram, it might be worth (depending on what pram you have) changing the seat. Some prams the next seat up from the bassinet is suitable from newborn as goes fully flat (mine does). My baby was suddenly really fussy in the pram and it turns out she was just frustrated she couldn’t see anything! So now we use the next seat on a very slight incline so she can look around and then pop it flat when she falls asleep x

Aprilpudding24 · 25/06/2024 14:20

@Cora24601 oh thanks I hadnt heard of those I'll take a look. I like the idea that she might know it's bedtime if I start using them haha.
