Hi all,

I've just found out I'm pregnant and due Nov. I've found Mumsnet so helpful during conception so wanted to start a thread on pregnancy if anyone wanted to join. I'm feeling VERY tired, I've had cold feet (literally) and jelly legs today. I had very heavy implantation bleeding last time (which ended in loss about 4 weeks later) and none of that so far so hoping that's a positive sign. Have the strangest feeling already that it's a boy. How's everyone else doing? Xxx

@piechipsgravy omg that is not what you expect to hear from a scan. How old are, if you don't mind me asking?
Is this your first child?

I'm 29 and this is my first pregnancy.

Kinsters · 06/03/2024 12:19

Sorry to hear that @piechipsgravy that must have been an awful shock. Be kind to yourself as you process the news x

Mummysparrow · 06/03/2024 12:21

Oh bless you. In your twenties you think you have plenty of years left. Maybe once you have had baby have some further tests so you get a better idea on what is happening.
Did it take you long to conceive?
Good news that the scan went well though and baby is where it is supposed to be.

shohopeful · 06/03/2024 12:22

Hey @piechipsgravy that's great news re: the baby. What I will say re: news about the ovaries is that this is only one persons opinion. It's also a lot for you to take in on your own when that wasn't why you were even there. Really unfair of them. They should have asked you to come back in for further tests. Hope you're ok. Lots of people are able to have babies when told chances are low. My cousin had 2 rounds of IVF to conceive after trying for years only to fall pregnant by accident just after he was born. Was told that could never happen, and it did naturally. One step at a time xxx

@piechipsgravy sorry for the shock, like @shohopeful has said though, it’s really unfair of them to bring this up at your scan because that’s not what you went for. After the baby is born, I would ask for further investigations from someone who’s an expert, because from where I live, the EPU is run by nursing staff and not fertility experts.

really glad your scan of the baby was positive xx

muddlingthrou · 06/03/2024 13:47

@piechipsgravy - I'm so sorry for the blindside - that sounds like very intense news to digest! Hopefully this pregnancy will go smoothly.

If it's helpful, I was also told I am at risk of premature menopause when I went for my first fertility investigations at age 33. They said I had much, much lower egg reserve than expected for my age - a fact that was borne out by my poor response to stims during IVF. However, I got very lucky in that it seems for me it was more about quality than quantity, and I am now pregnant for the second time through fertility treatment (first pregnancy I had my DD at 34). Plus the science is advancing all the time.

So whatever plans you have for your family, please don't give up hope xx

Loz365 · 06/03/2024 14:02

@piechipsgravy so sorry you had such a traumatic first scan. Lovely to hear that baby is all good but how upsetting for them to break that news at the same time. Hope you're okay, and as the others have said, it's only one person's view and sounds like he wasn't really sure what the potential implications were so I would definitely ask for more tests after this pregnancy.
Take care of yourself 💐

piechipsgravy · 06/03/2024 14:45

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. They are helping. I feel a bit in denial about it all- we got pregnant this time in our first proper month of trying and I was tracking ovulation prior to that and confirmed ovulation through BBT for several months so I'm really hopeful I have a few years in me yet. DH and I have just said if we are lucky enough for this pregnancy to be successful we would start trying again very soon afterwards. Worst case scenario would be an egg donor but I might still have a couple of fertile years left- or a subsequent scan might be more positive. Letting myself wallow today (haven't gone into work and just lying in bed crying!) then will need to move on tomorrow to focusing on this pregnancy and keeping it healthy and stress free as much as possible.

Sarah268 · 06/03/2024 15:28

@piechipsgravy so sorry to hear that. Give yourself all the time you need to cry! As others have said, it is just one persons view. I’d be getting a second opinion & further testing for sure given you are 29 and how quickly you have conceived.

as you said though, try to focus on this pregnancy journey and look after yourself xx

1yearplan · 06/03/2024 15:45

@piechipsgravy glad to hear the pregnancy is progressing as it should. Stay healthy little bean!
What a shock though from the person doing the ultrasound. I echo what the others have said. It's just one opinion, it sounds like everything was working well according to your tracking. Rest up today, watch some rubbish on tv.

Kinsters · 06/03/2024 15:55

Definitely a good idea to have a wallow @piechipsgravy . I found it really helpful after an upsetting experience to allow myself to dwell for a set period of time and then after that carry on as normally as I could.

Loz365 · 06/03/2024 16:06

@piechipsgravy you definitely deserve a day or two on the sofa. The fact you conceived so quickly is really positive so, like you say, once you've processed the news you can then focus on this pregnancy.
I've got my first scan on 18th March so we can be nervous wrecks waiting for that together 😆 x

Sparksi · 06/03/2024 16:15

Hello everyone! Tentatively joining, due our first baby November 19. Conceived first cycle after a miscarriage last month, just had a BFP today at 8dpo.

Is there a Facebook group to join? Congratulations to everyone on here - how exciting xx

Meatballsandpasta · 06/03/2024 16:42

@Sparksi Congratulations! And your due date is so close to mine - Nov 15th! I had my BFP only yesterday too. So similar. I wonder if we'll match up after our respective dating scans 😂

Meatballsandpasta · 06/03/2024 16:49

@piechipsgravy just read through your updates. I second the comments others have made about it being one person's opinion, and things can change/there are options. That being said, I am wishing you a boring, routine pregnancy with health at the forefront.

GreatestGatsby · 06/03/2024 23:58

Hi there!

May I join? I tested positive on Sunday (3rd), after a negative test on 23rd and what I reckon was implantation bleeding on 27th.

First day of my last period was 13th January so in the weird logic that is gestation I’m technically nearly 8 weeks, but I’m pretty sure I conceived 14th February (long cycle) so 5 weeks seems more logical! And gives me a due date of 6th November.

I’ve had zero symptoms except night sweats and maybe sore boobs today? Naturally I’ve convinced myself that no symptoms means it’s a chemical pregnancy!

If it’s real, it will be my first!

@piechipsgravy I’m so sorry about your news—but like everyone else said, it’s one opinion, and even if it turns out to be right, you’re young, you conceived quickly this time, and there are options. It’s rubbish and a shock, though: I’m so sorry.

Mummysparrow · 07/03/2024 05:04

Only tested positive on Tuesday but the tiredness, out of breath and dizziness is already kicking in 🤦

piechipsgravy · 07/03/2024 06:57

Welcome and congrats @Sparksi and @GreatestGatsby !

Thanks again to everyone for the lovely comments. It's great to be able to talk about it here, particularly as talking about it in real life would mean talking about this pregnancy which I'm not ready to do yet! But I've had a good night sleep (FINALLY) and am ready to put it to one side for a little while and focus on this pregnancy.

How's everyone feeling today? Any new symptoms? I still have periods of nausea that come and go as well as on and off sore boobs but nothing particularly exciting. I was hoping for some interesting dreams!

shohopeful · 07/03/2024 07:05

Morning @piechipsgravy I'm so glad you're feeling better today.
I've been having some crazy dreams (is that a symptom?) and I had a crap nights sleep last night because of cramping. It actually woke me up!! After a hot water bottle and a bit of moving around (and a fart I really had to push out haha) I was fine. So tired today as a result! I always make sure I have 30g of fibre a day but obviously still isn't enough as I go through these changes so going to absolutely tank the water today, hoping that helps. I've been drinking squash/diluting juice (Robinsons). Is this ok?

Farfarfarfarfaraway · 07/03/2024 07:05

My husbands away with work. My 2 year old was up at 4am and I’ve got a long day at work today (2hour round trip drive). I can’t even have coffee!! I’m exhausted 😴

Jellybelly888 · 07/03/2024 07:26

@shohopeful squash is perfect! They say not to drink too much actual real fruit juice as it’s very high in sugar but squash is great.

We went to see a private fertility expert yesterday due to my anxiety in my GP not addressing any of my concerns after my early recurrent miscarriages before I had my DS. I was put on progesterone pessaries when pregnant with him and the GP told me this time because I’ve had a ‘live birth’ between pregnancies that I would require 3 miscarriages again before they would consider progesterone pessaries again?! What?

So we paid through the nose to see a private consultant and he said straight away my TSH level is too high, I need progesterone and blood thinners due to the unknown cause of my recurrent early miscarriages. He did me a private prescription for fragmin injections (very painful but necessary), thyroxine and progesterone pessaries twice per day until at least 16 weeks.

I feel so much better. Ladies it’s your body and your baby, do not be fobbed off my GPs and if you feel there’s an issue, get a second opinion from an expert.

1yearplan · 07/03/2024 08:06

Morning ladies!

@GreatestGatsby Congratulations and welcome! I'm trying to count every day as a little win because I don't have any symptoms either. It helps me to feel a bit better. I'm really happy to be part of this group.

@piechipsgravy I'm glad you had a good sleep. I'd actually just popped onto the thread to ask how you were, so I'm glad to see your update.

@shohopeful I had the craziest dreams last pregnancy! I think it's completely normal. Ps I love a bit of squash, I think you'll be fine drinking it.

@Farfarfarfarfaraway I hope your day goes quickly so you can snuggle up on the sofa after work and have a snooze

@Jellybelly888 I'm so glad you have been taken seriously. It's a shame your gp wasn't as pro active. It's stress you didn't need.

I had an appointment with my GP yesterday about something different, however, I ended up telling her about my pregnancy, she's encouraged me to register the pregnancy, which I've now done.
She also told me to avoid stress 😂 I'm getting married next month and we are moving abroad in a few months, so it's going to be unavoidable. Weirdly I feel quite chilled about those two things at the moment. My hen do is in 2 weeks, so I'm going to have to tell the girls I'm pregnant, which is a bit sooner than I hoped to. It will be lovely to have their support early on though.

Loz365 · 07/03/2024 08:41

Morning everyone!

Welcome and congratulations @Sparksi and @GreatestGatsby !

@piechipsgravy so pleased you slept well, it can make such a difference having decent sleep.

@Jellybelly888 that's so interesting how differently the fertility doctor treated you. Thank goodness you booked the appointment.

@1yearplan by register the pregnancy was that to arrange the midwife appointments? I tried to do that but I have to wait until I'm 6 weeks in my area, which is next Tuesday for me.

I also have no symptoms. I have slight hunger/bordering on nausea first thing in the morning but it disappears once I've had breakfast. And other than the odd cramp I have nothing else. Anyone still find it surreal that they're pregnant?! 😅

1yearplan · 07/03/2024 09:03

@Loz365 I just filled out a form online. The midwives then contact me to arrange an appointment before 10 weeks. I'll be considered a high risk pregnancy this time due to unexplained losses at 15w and 16w3d for my last two pregnancies, so it might be a bit different this time round. I think it varies area to area though.
