Pregnancy after loss support

Hi ladies, I've recently found out I'm pregnant again after 2 losses in a row. I'm very lucky to have a DS and I had another MC before I had him. So 3 losses in total. I'm only 4+4, but got faint positive 11 days ago at 9dpo and it feels like I've been pregnant for aaaages but time is moving so slowly. We've booked an early scan when I'll be 8 weeks exactly so waiting it out until then, and hoping nothing happens in between. I wondered if anyone else is in a similar position and wanted to share this early journey with me. I've decided not to tell anyone this time round, a lot of my close friends are dealing with newborns or their own ivf journeys and I don't want to add any load to anyone. But it feels like a huge load to me so would love to share with someone!

@Confusedandtired90 mine didn't see me I til I was dating 6 weeks, but other epus may be different, as the first time I thought I was 6 weeks 5 days but I was actually dating around 5ish weeks as no baby detected yet, but could see that was in correct place etc x

Good to know! I think I was seen at 5 weeks last time but the whole thing was such a blur that I can't remember.

Am going to try and hold out until the end of the week. I'm so convinced that it's in the wrong place but only time will tell 😣

SnookyPook · 01/04/2024 19:39

@Confusedandtired90 my first scan was booked for 7+2 but I measured a week behind at 6+2 and they could clearly see little one and a heartbeat (though heartbeat start time can vary up to about 7wks I think). I'm pretty sure they should be able to see things developing in the right place from around 5wks but would literally be to show the sac and things starting to form rather than the reassurance of a heartbeat etc. Absolutely get wanting that reassurance though. My previous loss was a pregnancy of unknown location and I was so nervous about an ectopic. Sending hugs xx

@SnookyPook thank you so so much for taking the time to let me know about this thread as I think it's just what I need on my moments of need, sometimes my husband just doesn't get it

You're most welcome! I think it's pretty much a universal experience that people's OHs just don't quite get it or don't know what to say or you don't want to worry them more etc... it is lovely to be able to chat with others on here who do just 'get it'. 💕

What’s the earliest that people have gone to the EPU and they’ve been able to see that the baby is in the right place? I’ve been having brown spotting since before my BFP which is continuing with a near constant ache on my right side.

terrified that it’s another ectopic but don’t know if I should put off going to the EPU in case they case see anything which will make me even more stressed?!

I’m technically 5 weeks but based on when I ovulated, probably more like 4 weeks or so? Got BFP on Wednesday night

Please do not be put off by seeing the EPAU if you've had a previous ectopic.
You need to see someone and have a scan to see if baby is growing in the correct place, as you know ectopic pregnancies can be dangerous.
I get the worry and the anxiety of going through it all again, at the same time its better to be safe than sorry.

Just explain to EPAU that you're 6 weeks pregnant (lie a little if you need to, just to get seen) and you've had previous experience of ectopic. They will see you straight away!

@Figtree11 thinking of you sweet. Hope you're doing okay x

@Rockyslife gosh pregnancy is so hard isnt it? People walk around as though its so easy but never experienced loss.
The anxiety is ridiculously hard every day, but some how you'll always find the strength the carry on. Nobody wants to experience it over and over. Gosh i know i didnt want to! But i like to think, life puts me in these situations for a reason (probably testing my patience mind you..)
You'll always get through it with that bit of support. Welcome to the thread, here you'll get all the support you need from these lovely ladies x

Hi all, tentatively hoping to join the conversation - I had a reassurance scan at my EPU yesterday dating me at 8weeks. Have had 4 miscarriages in a row starting with a MMC at 11wks exactly 2 years ago. The reassurance of the scan lasted less than 12 hours hence the tentative hello!

Rockyslife · 02/04/2024 07:44

@LER2023 Good morning, thank you for your message you're so correct with what you're words, sometimes I do think how much more testing does one girl need in her life 😂 sometimes when I see how hard people have had it, it does bring more fear to me thinking I will be the same, but I guess everyone's paths are different, it's just so so scary how common and how often it happens reoccurring for so many ladies but then alot of ladies they never ever have to go through this pain. It's a crazy world x

Hello! 👋

great that the reassurance scan has gone well. It’s a nail biting journey but fingers crossed this is the one. We’re all in the same boat of worry here so it’s a nice safe space!

Figtree11 · 02/04/2024 16:10

Thank you all for thinking of me & your well wishes ❤️ I have a scan at the EPU tomorrow at 10. The spotting continues.

Had my GP appt today to get my referral, she was wanting me to do a pregnancy test, and an examination before she’d ring up! I said no to both, as the EPU said last time that they would see me regardless of any bleeding.

Rockyslife · 02/04/2024 17:56

Hey everyone, how are we all today? @Figtree11 how are you feeling about your appointment tomorrow? X

Confusedandtired90 · 02/04/2024 18:16

@Rockyslife ok thanks! Still spotting and crampy. Our fertility consultant has asked me to go in for bloods tomorrow so will be interested to see where my HCG is compared to previous loss.

made the mistake of checking in on by BBT stats and they’re all over the place which isn’t helping eeeek!

How are you getting on?

Rockyslife · 02/04/2024 18:22

Oh bless you, when anything changes we literally just go into flight mode don't we and it's absolutely petrifying. I am glad you're having your bloods checked tomorrow and that they're checking on your correctly, there's nothing worse than feeling like you have no support. I am feeling a little less anxious today as since taking the progesterone pessaries, touch wood the spotting has stopped for now.. just trying to forget about it all the best I can as I am going stir crazy 🤣

Confusedandtired90 · 02/04/2024 18:29

Great news that the spotting has stopped! Hopefully shows that progesterone is doing its job?! Long may it continue for you

H20202 · 02/04/2024 18:30

@Figtree11 good luck tomorrow! X

TamsynR · 02/04/2024 19:15

Hello,

Hope it’s ok to post. I’m 5 weeks pregnant, after having a miscarriage at 8.5 weeks last October. It’s nice to be talking to people who have been through similar. Very excited, but more nervous to be honest. I was wondering if anyone managed to get an early reassurance scan at their EPU or whether you just went private? I’m sure the doctor told me I could get one when I was there in October, but not 100% sure. I just can’t wait for the next seven weeks to be over!

Tamsyn x

SnookyPook · 02/04/2024 21:12

@Figtree11 will be thinking of you tomorrow 💕

@TamsynR welcome! I got an early scan at the hospital but I had had 3 losses over the previous months - not completely sure if they'd have done it without it being a recurring loss situation but it's always worth asking! Trusts seem to vary vastly in this regard. Mine have been so fantastic at anything to ease anxiety and clearly see MH as an important part of the 'healthy mum' package. Other places seem much more by the book and jobsworth-y.

Figtree11 · 03/04/2024 06:59

Thank you all. I feel sick with anxiety. Pretty confident what the outcome will be, but I just can’t bear the thought of going for the scan

Hopingrae · 03/04/2024 07:57

@Figtree11 thinking of you this morning lovely.

@TamsynR welcome to the thread! Sadly my local epu don't do reassurance scans, and like @SnookyPook I've also had 3 previous losses. It really varies by nhs trust sadly. So we arranged a private scan at 8 weeks and we have another booked tomorrow at 10 weeks. Then my first nhs scan is booked for when I'll be 12+4. I know what you mean about wanting the next few weeks to pass... they absolutely will but might feel a bit slow, I found out at 3 weeks (shorter cycles) and I feel like I've been in the first trimester forever. Getting past the 12 week scan and blood tests feels like what I'm aiming for at the moment!

@Confusedandtired90 good luck with your bloods today, hope you don't have to wait too long for the outcome!

@Rockyslife glad progesterone seems to be working, that is positive!

Rockyslife · 03/04/2024 08:25

Morning everyone, hope we're all ok on here today! I've had a bit of a disaster with my progesterone, is anyone else having to take the pessaries? I have decided to do it rectally due to the other way causing me so much fright and irritation (because it's always dripping out) this morning I needed to go to the toilet and alot of them seemed to be the pessaries and now I am so scared that two days of pessaries haven't been working!

Sez281 · 03/04/2024 08:41

Thinking of you this morning @Figtree11 🙏

@Rockyslife I've just stopped progesterone after 12 weeks on the advice of my consultant (I'm assuming the placenta has taken over) I was 2x400mg vaginaly. I wouldn't worry too much about some excess on your underwear or in the toilet. From what I gather the mess is actually from the waxy exterior and the main stuff is absorbed internally rather quickly. Obviously if you go to the toilet immediately it might not be as effective but I think if you can lie down for around 20 mins before going to the toilet or walking around then you'll be fine

Holl89 · 03/04/2024 10:07

@Rockyslife don’t worry!! I couldn’t stand doing it vaginally so I’ve been doing it rectally for weeks now. I think as long as you don’t go to the toilet for a no.2 for an hour, whatever comes out is just the wax and the progesterone is absorbed!
My no. 2’s have looked disgusting every time 🙈

Confusedandtired90 · 03/04/2024 10:09

Good luck today @Figtree11 - thinking of you!

SnookyPook · 03/04/2024 10:45

@Figtree11 sending hugs and hand holds 💗

Figtree11 · 03/04/2024 11:03

Thank you all so much for the well wishes. I can’t actually believe it but it’s good news!
Baby in the right place with a heartbeat measuring 7+5.
No reason for the bleeding could be found. I’ve been given progesterone pessaries to have until 16wks which she warned could cause spotting still.

I’m actually stunned, I can’t believe it, was fully expecting bad news

Confusedandtired90 · 03/04/2024 11:25

@Figtree11 Amazing news! What a relief - so pleased for you. You must be so relieved
