Thanks lovely @MudandMoet how are you getting on? ❤️

Emmaev · 27/02/2024 21:06

@Wibbles64 i just pop a tiny bit of water in a glass (enough to dissolve them) and down it as fast as I can. They taste really gross. I’d prefer the ones that didn’t need to go into water

Wibbles64 · 27/02/2024 21:12

@MudandMoet they aren't even soluble but dispersible, apparently the least likely to kick off any stomach trouble. Have been warned off the normal tablets so it's the soapy chalky water for me unfortunately.

@Emmaev thanks for the tip - will try using less water tomorrow!

SC126 · 27/02/2024 21:16

@Emmaev @Wibbles64 dispersible aspirin can actually be taken whole like a normal tablet if it's preferable. Not sure if taste would be better or worse though as never taken it before to judge.

MudandMoet · 27/02/2024 21:27

@Honeyandsunshine1 Im doing okay! Mostly!! 14 weeks tomorrow and the more I realise this baby is sticking around the more I'm aware shit's getting real and my life is never going to be the same again. I just have to convince myself on a regular basis it's for the better!

@Wibbles64 I'm wondering now if I should be taking dispersible ones and not the standard tablets. Will ring and ask consultant tomorrow. Soapy chalky water doesn't sound pleasant at all. Mine are gastro resistant whatever that is (assume gentle on the tummy)

Due September 4.5 🐣♥️🧡💜
SC126 · 27/02/2024 21:32

@MudandMoet exactly same ingredients in both dispersible and Gastro-resistant tablets and you are correct gastro resistant does mean gentle on the tummy. It's just what the doctor felt like prescribing on the day and you are fine to take either. Usually dispersible tablets are cheaper and they choose that. I work in pharmacy so not some crazy person that randomly knows fun facts about aspirin (ok a tad crazy) 🤣

MudandMoet · 27/02/2024 21:39

@SC126 phew, that's great thanks for the rapid reply, no doubt saved me an unsuccessful call to the consultant chap tomorrow.

10 weeks today, finally in the double digits!

10 weeks today, finally in the double digits!

Eek congrats! I’ll be there tomorrow!

I’ve had to call in sick again today. I was really sick last night and am just completely exhausted this morning. I know I have to do what’s right for me, but it is so hard not to feel guilty for being unreliable. I wonder if it would be better to just be signed off for a fortnight rather than having random days off here and there, but some days I am absolutely fine being at work and surely being there most of the time and keeping on top of things is better than not being there at all if I’m able to be in.

I think I’m just finding it tough being a bit flaky when I’ve always been a reliable worker.

rupertbear91 · 28/02/2024 08:25

Out of interest how often has everyone has scans? Because of my vanishing twin I had weekly scans from week 6-9 so 4 in total and now my dating scan isn't till week 13 which is 2 1/2 weeks away still and my anxiety is through the roof. I'm tempted to book a private scan for the weekend but is that excessive?

@Lillers I am about to go into my 5th week of being signed off work because of HG. I feel terribly guilty I have never had time off work sick before but sometimes it's just easier to take a proper step back. In my firm we get pulled into HR meetings for repeat sick days so it's actually better to be fully signed off as mad as that seems

WolfMother326 · 28/02/2024 08:27

@Lillers I know what you mean, I feel bad about how poor of a job I'm doing at work, but I'm just so tired I almost don't care. I have to commute and give a lecture on Mondays and Tuesdays, yesterday I felt barely awake and forgot to record it and ended up having to leave a little early. I'm almost 13 weeks (tomorrow), hoping I feel more lively soon.

I am curious have the pregnacare tablets made anyone have a stomachache? I switched to them a few weeks ago and have had stomach problems, not nausea, ever since.

Emmaev · 28/02/2024 08:28

Update on the fainting, got to work today it was so hot that I almost passed out there and then. I think I’m gonna speak to my doctor today and try and get a sick note. I’ve never actually got one before I don’t even know how they work?

Bakerbean · 28/02/2024 08:30

I’m a bit behind and have lots of individual messages I’d like to try and reply to later! But I just wanted to pop on quickly and say to all those struggling with the dissolvable aspirin, I dissolve mine in a very small bit of fruit juice & it makes it SO much better. I was told to do this by my doctor after cancer treatment 10+ years ago as I was so sick I couldn’t stomach it in water. Honestly it’s a game changer 🥰

Scan day today, at last! 12+3, scan at 3.10pm. Relieved the wait is over, excited, and very anxious. Will update you later 🙏🏻🤞🏼

Emmaev · 28/02/2024 08:32

@Lillers this is exactly how I feel, I barely ever have days off. But I feel awful, it’s so hard to not feel guilty when you are a hard worker, then all of a sudden work just absolutely drains you. Some days I also feel fine, which is why I’ve not wanted to get a sick note. But maybe it is the best thing to do ultimately.

Lillers · 28/02/2024 08:36

Thanks everyone, it’s so hard not to feel guilty. I might go and speak to HR tomorrow (if I’m in) and just straight up ask which would be better for me - to keep doing what I have been or just get signed off for a fixed period.

SC126 · 28/02/2024 08:42

@Lillers @Emmaev im currently in my 4th week signed off work. Due back next week. Until this I've never had to get a sick note before however I work at a hospital and I just couldn't hack being on the hot wards and around patients when I felt so sick. I also couldn't concentrate properly in a job role where it's important not to make errors. To get my sick note, I made a GP appointment and spoke to my GP about how sick I felt and how I felt at work. The GP was super understanding and they will firstly go through some ways you have tried to manage the sickness without medication which I had tried everything, ginger etc. She then prescribed some cyclizine and spoke to me about how long I would like off. I originally chose 2 weeks but I extended this as I still felt unwell. I hope this gives you some idea of how to go about it and what to expect if your worried. Luckily my workplace are very good with me and at the end of the day I have to put myself and my family first. I love my job but it's only a job and I know I'll go back to bossing it when I feel better again.

Emmaev · 28/02/2024 10:00

Thanks so much for the information @SC126

Im off to the doctors in a moment so hopefully get some answers about why I keep feeling faint.

I work in a care home the rooms are ridiculously hot and all the running around. It’s not a place if you’re not feeling with it, because as you said you make mistakes and it’s people’s lives.

SSP is terrible money though, but I also can’t carry on pulling myself through work.

SC126 · 28/02/2024 10:06

@Emmaev ahh i always forget how rubbish ssp is! I get paid sickness in the NHS and it's been a long time since I worked elsewhere. You might be able to get like a week off each time so you can go back as soon as you are feeling more up to it.

RedFox24 · 28/02/2024 10:13

@rupertbear91, I felt the same way as I had a vanishing twin too. I had a scan last week at 11W and booked in for my 12W scan on Friday. I’ve had 3 scans in total so far.

The anxiety is awful but the sonographers have all told me not the worry as VTS shouldn’t affect the healthy baby.

Have you spoken to your midwife about it as mine offered me an early NHS scan. There’s no harm in asking, especially if it’s causing you so much stress x

Thanks for the response. Other than my booking appointment I have had no contact with my midwife it all seems very disjointed care in this area. They actually moved my original scan which was at 12 weeks back a week due to staffing issues so I should only have had just over a week to wait. I don't think it helps my sickness has been so bad I can only lie on the sofa or in bed so lots of time to think!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/02/2024 10:30

@MudandMoet I remember you saying, a lot of change heading your way, but! You come across to me as very resilient and headstrong, I feel like you’ll be able to adapt and progress wonderfully. Sometimes we fear change because it’s the unknown, but sometimes (when we’re as knee deep in it as we are now; hello second trimester 😨) we just have to embrace and welcome it. I think you’ll be absolutely grand. And just try remember to speak up and ask for help if you ever need it. I know it’s tough sometimes, but you have us here emotionally! And also, your husband physically ans emotionally (although I do remember you saying you’re so headstrong that you don’t like asking for help, if I remember correctly. Don’t burden yourself with that if it gets too much!)

You got this mama!!

💛💛💛

Honeyandsunshine1 · 28/02/2024 10:33

Good luck at your scan today @Bakerbean ❤️❤️

also congrats on reaching double digits @HolyMoly24!!

Hope your appt goes well @Emmaev 🩷

Sydney1988 · 28/02/2024 11:09

To top off my 12 hour stint in A&E on Monday, think I’ve contracted norovirus or something similar whilst there. Woke at 5am and have been throwing up bile at 20 minute intervals ever since. Trying to get fluids in even though they mostly come straight back up. FFS!!!!

HRP1990 · 28/02/2024 11:12

I hope you’re scan goes well @Bakerbean!

I’ve got a long day of events today in London. I’m having to travel back in rush hour and considered asking for a “baby on board” badge to make sure I get a seat lol

Xur · 28/02/2024 11:15

@Sydney1988 oh no that is not good 😨if this keeps going you might want to get your hands on electrolyte drinks to help the body cope. I hope you feel better soon!
