Hello ladies,
as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

Thanks for the new thread @Xur.

I’ll be taking all vaccines offered. I had flu in December and it was horrific. The whooping cough and covid I’ll take too. I had Covid in late in pregnancy with my first and want to avoid that.

VT6 · 23/02/2024 07:03

Just marking my place in the new thread, still so upset about loosing someone at this stage. I barely slept thinking about it 😢

Marking my place in the new thread, its so sad to lose someone from the thread at this stage 😔
I am thinking about having flu and whooping cough vaccines but not sure about covid one

SC126 · 23/02/2024 07:35

@californiacooper I probably won't bother with the flu jab. I work in hospital pharmacy and get offered it at work but didn't bother with it this year. I've also chosen to never be vaccinated against covid and nearly lost my job over that decision a few years ago 🤣 I'm not an anti vaxxer though and my eldest has had all his jabs and I've had all others. I'll be getting whooping cough my midwife said I can have it from 16 weeks at my clinic appointment!

Bakerbean · 23/02/2024 07:36

Thank you @Xur for the new thread.

I had the flu vaccine back in November as routine due to asthma. Will say yes to the whooping cough vaccine, but am very unsure about the additional covid vaccine? My midwife mentioned it at booking in but I’m just not sure it feels necessary. I had the two initial covid jabs, but haven’t had any of the boosters & touch wood, have only had covid once (not long after my second jab) & rarely get general colds. My entire family had covid at Christmas and me and my OH never caught it, very lucky. Anyone else not getting the covid jab?

I’m starting to feel super anxious about my scan now. It’s on Wednesday next week when I should be 12+3. I’m still nauseous daily and exhausted by early evening, but I just can’t help but worry about what could have happened in there between now and our early scan. Yesterday’s awful news just brings it home how terribly vulnerable we all are. My heart broke reading the update 😓

Morning all, just checking in.

I know @VT6, it is desperately sad. I have read so many threads on here of MMCs at 8, 9, 10, and even 11 weeks that I means I really won’t relax until the 12 week scan.

Decaffe · 23/02/2024 07:51

I will be getting any and all jabs they offer me - the more I can protect myself and the baby the better. Especially as they will be born towards the end of September, so coming into winter and cold/flu season.

I did a deep dive into the Covid jab research last year and the results overwhelmingly say there are no ill effects on either baby or mother. It does not cause a miscarriage or anything like that. It is strongly recommended for pregnant ladies by the RCOG and JCVI so absolutely I will be having it.

Lillers · 23/02/2024 08:01

I’ll definitely have the jabs that are offered - I want to have every chance of being as well as possible, and of course to protect little one.

I’m not feeling as bad today and have gone in to work. We have half days on Fridays (we have longer days Mon-Thurs) so I only have to get through to 1.30!

Decaffe · 23/02/2024 08:02

Glad you are feeling better @Lillers, a half day sounds just the ticket!

Xur · 23/02/2024 08:04

Good morning ladies! ☀️
I am now looking at the maternity wear, two main places I’m looking at ar H&M and Shein.
obviously H&M better delivery speeds and better materials/quality.

shein on the other hand have a massive choice of products and are way cheaper.

the question of all questions is the fit. Do you have any experience with maternity clothing from either? Do the trousers fit well? Is the sizing reasonable? I really cannot be bothered travelling to an H&M shop just to find out they have no maternity section or with only 5 pieces of clothing there so I rather order online, but obviously then I can’t try it. Can you please share your experience with the fit and quality of clothing? For how long did one piece of jeans serve you?

If you’re open to other brands @Xur Seraphine would get my vote. The bra’s were amazing, especially for feeding, they also do some great joggers and leggings with the maternity banding around the waist. The quality was excellent. A bit more than H&M in terms of price but I wore everything afterwards for months too, so cost per wear was spot on.

VT6 · 23/02/2024 08:11

@Decaffe I feel the exact same! I spend a lot of my time worrying that everything is ok in there, I’m normally a very rational person and have the attitude of what will be will be, but wow! Pregnancy changes that completely doesn’t it 🤣

@Xur I ordered some maternity leggings from Amazon but sized up- they are too big right now so keeping them for later on. The quality is amazing so I’ve ordered my normal size (I’ll let you know what they are like when they arrive). I’ve been looking on shein but I’m reluctant to buy mat jeans, hoping I can get away with dresses/ jumper dresses and then leggings 😂

Caroline2023 · 23/02/2024 08:13

Thank you for making the new thread @Xur Like others have said, feeling sad to have lost someone from the thread.

@Lillers glad you’re feeling better today. Hopefully it might be a sign of things starting to ease for you 🤞🏻

We have a scan tomorrow at 9+4 and feeling very nervous about it but hoping everything is ok.

SC126 · 23/02/2024 08:36

@Xur my eldest is also a sept baby. Because of being preggo during spring/summer I mostly wore dresses and leggings. Maybe something to bare in mind as you might not want too many jeans etc as it will feel hot! I swear summer 2018 was hottest of my life 🤣

MrsM89 · 23/02/2024 08:52

@Xur another vote for seraphine! Check out the next clearance page and also search seraphine outlet on Google (it's not visible on a tab on the website if don't think) for some bargains.
The quality is great and I have dresses that I've used for 2 pregnancies that I will be using again from there.
X

HolyMoly24 · 23/02/2024 09:06

I've ordered a few things from boohoo (never usually shop there but they had a some nice basics at really good prices) and off Vinted.

Emmaev · 23/02/2024 09:15

I’ve been looking at Vinted, I’ve found loads of lovely clothes on there barely worn. But I’ll be mainly wearing dresses and jumpsuits when I get really big through the summer.

Anyone else’s skin just that of a teenager? My rosacea has flared up so bad since I’ve been pregnant and I can’t take any of the usual medication for it. Where is this pregnancy glow?

rupertbear91 · 23/02/2024 09:29

So I already caved and got some maternity trousers as I haven't fitted into my normal jeans for a good few weeks.

H&M leggings even the thick looking ones are very see through when you bend over so would only recommend with a long top!

I got some m&s skinny jeans which are super comfy and just got my normal size.

I did an order of another pair of jeans from vinted, same size but way too big for now as my partner pointed out the fabric bit over the belly has already been stretched by a big bump where as the new ones stretch with you!

Wanderlust86 · 23/02/2024 09:38

It's been so nice seeing everyone's 12 week scans. I have mine this afternoon which I'm nervous about as I feel like everything has been building up to this scan! We haven't told anyone and hopefully will be able to soon. It will my parents first grandchild and me and my brother are in our lateish 30s so they have waited a while 😆
Looking forward to buying something baby related too.

Wanderlust86 · 23/02/2024 09:40

@Emmaev yes I look and feel like a hormonal teenager. My skin is usually fine but I keep getting loads of spots.

MudandMoet · 23/02/2024 09:42

@HRP1990 thank you, it went really well (didn't feel appropriate yesterday to say)
I'm measuring 13+2 now so they just put me one more day ahead so have a due date of 28th August now.

I was in there 3 hours, so much waiting about though. Scan first, wait, blood tests, wait, consultant chat and advice, wait and then flu vaccine. DH was absolutely chuffed to bits with the scan and seeing little baby moving around so much. The sonographer lady said I'm going to have fun when I can start to feel it as it was the most active she'd seen for a long while.

The constant movement made it awkward as baby was constantly turning its head away so I was laying there 25 mins while she was trying to get the measurements. NT was 1.4. Blood results should be back within a week, if high risk then straight back in for a NIPT.

Wanderlust86 · 23/02/2024 09:48

Aww congrats @MudandMoet great picture!

Emmaev · 23/02/2024 10:02

@MudandMoet what a beautiful scan picture. Love that you can make out they’re little legs too.

I found this scan so much more detailed than when I had my daughter even though they were the same gestation. Maybe the technology has advanced in 8 years haha

Khanga27 · 23/02/2024 10:02

Morning all. Had my NHS scan this morning, a few days ahead so due date is 29th August now. I have a subserosal fibroid (already known about) which is low down but so far not blocking anyway out for baby, so I’m on high risk monitoring so appointments with obstetrician as well as midwife, and possibly extra scans and discussions about delivery options closer to the time. Bit nervous but hopefully precautionary.
Was surprised that they charged for scan pics, anyone else had this at their hospital?

Emmaev · 23/02/2024 10:04

@Khanga27 yes we had to pay, £5 for 2 pictures
