as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

@fleur89 what a beautiful wee baby!

FirstTimeMum897 · 26/02/2024 13:01

@Wanderlust86 I wasn't going to buy anything big yet (I'm 13 weeks today) but someone in my area was selling a bugaboo in almost new condition for £250 😅 I jumped on it, so I now have a massive pram in my hallway I haven't figured out where to put yet. I don't have anything else.

Wanderlust86 · 26/02/2024 13:31

@FirstTimeMum897 wow what a bargain! I don't even know where to start with looking at prams/travel systems stuff, it's a whole new very expensive world. I had a brief look online and decided I can worry about that later.
I haven't bought anything yet but have loads of things saved in various baskets online 😆
Just researching and saving items to potentially buy later seems to have stopped me going mental.

MudandMoet · 26/02/2024 13:51

Lovely scan pic @fleur89 🥰

@Martibum don't be sorry for ranting... that's what we're all here for, to share experiences, the highs and the lows. I think the fact you've already acknowledged your low mood and what could be triggering it is a good start. Also that you are going to mention it is a great way to make sure it doesn't spiral without any help you may need. Please don't feel alone with these feelings, I still have low moments with worry about how everything is going to change also with no family support, wondering if DH will step up (as I still want to work asap) it's just the unknown and if I'm being totally frank, it scares the absolute shit out of me.
It's sounds crazy but the things I'm questioning and wondering like how it'll all work, I can't possibly know until baby's here. Also my biggest issue is that I find it hard to open up and talk so I just bottle everything up and never say anything - unless on here as it's anonymous!

I feel like I have a few days relaxing and enjoying the pregnancy then bam! I'm back into panic mode. I'm sure the lack of sleep right now isn't helping. The thought of PND/PPD scares the crap out of me too as I've heard somewhere it affects around 1 in 7!

SC126 · 26/02/2024 13:57

@Wanderlust86 my tip for buying baby items particularly those high costing ones is to just wait for the sales. We are preggo for such a long time there are usually at least 2 big sales during that time. I got my mamas and papas travel system £300 cheaper during the sales when I was preggo with my eldest.

WolfMother326 · 26/02/2024 14:45

@fleur89 what a beautiful scan photo!

I'm looking forward to my dating scan Friday. Hopefully all will be well to tell wider family and friends.

I've just started buying a few maternity things. Last time I really liked Next, Asos and Seraphine (though some of the sizing can be really off so had to return things and exchange) I actually am a bigger size than before my son so will need to get a few new things.

I didn't realise there was a new thread, missed that. thanks @Nic17 for alerting me, makes sense!

Martibum · 26/02/2024 14:58

@MudandMoet my tag line in life is "I'm fine" or "don't worry, I'll get it sorted" etc but I don't think it's going to fly this time! Giving birth seems like ages away but I need to actually learn how to drive, get stuff done to the house, fit 2 more people into both my uterus & my already cramped house.
I'd definitely outline what you need from your H, i didn't and i ended up in a bigger MH mess. Now I telling him either he does the housework or hire a cleaner etc. Seems to work though.

Xur · 26/02/2024 15:45

Oh good news baby’s test results came back and low chance for trisomies. What a relief!!! To be honest quick results, I gave blood on Thursday and Monday my results are in! And that’s NHS not private.

1 in 1000 for Downs
1 in 5000 for Edward’s and Patau’s

@fleur89 what a beautiful scan photo 😍

@Xur thats amazing news, I’ve not had my results back yet, we had it all done on Wednesday so hopefully won’t have to wait too long. But when the sonographer looked at the scan on Wednesday she said it was in range.

Finally 13 weeks today and officially in the 2nd trimester!!

Xur · 26/02/2024 15:59

Congratulations🥳🎉 @Emmaev

my pap-a is a bit smaller than should be, I read online it should be 0,4 and higher, mine was 0,34. Anyway it’s not far off so I presume it’s not dangerous.

hi ladies - currently sitting in A&E where my GP sent me. Fun Monday! Was having heart palpitations over the weekend and now feeling very faint and dizzy. She wants to rule out a blood clot/DVT. Trying not to worry - I’m sure they are just overly cautious being pregnant. Has anyone else had dizzy spells etc? I’m 12 weeks on Wed x

FirstTimeMum897 · 26/02/2024 16:33

@Sydney1988 oh yes definitely very dizzy here. I have very low blood pressure, always have even before pregnancy. My OB said it will get worse as I get bigger.....How high was your heart rate? My heart rate is around 90 now when I'm just sitting which feels high, I was wondering if it's something I need to bring up.

YellowZ · 26/02/2024 16:42

@Xur just got mine too! 1:5000 for all conditions, hooray. My bloods were taken on Thursday too, also v impressed they're back already.

Emmaev · 26/02/2024 16:46

Hope you’re ok @Sydney1988
Ive been feeling very dizzy if I do a bit too much, my bp has been low though. My midwife said dizziness was very common in pregnancy. Look after yourself ❤

MudandMoet · 26/02/2024 16:50

@Martibum I hear you with that one 'I'm fine' 'no worries' 'all good thanks' are what rolls of the tongue sometimes when I'm feeling anything but! Agree, I need to have words with H about what's expected at the least. Good on you for saying to yours. I really don't mean to typecast but I'm not your typical farmers wife and I'm fiercely independent and I don't want that to change.

@Xur brilliant results! One less thing to worry about 🥳

@Sydney1988 I get the odd dizzy spell but also did before pregnant due to low blood pressure. Hope you're okay!

Sydney1988 · 26/02/2024 16:54

Thank you lovelies @Emmaev @FirstTimeMum897. Sure it’s normal and everything will be fine! I don’t mind the Monday A&E trip as I’d rather know everything is OK. My heart rate is 88 sitting in the waiting room at the moment according to my Apple Watch. I had a very active weekend so maybe overdid it also!

fleur89 · 26/02/2024 17:40

Thank you ladies!

Re stretch mark creams I used the very affordable Palmers range with my first and had zero stretch marks, although I know a lot is to do with genetics.

fleur89 · 26/02/2024 17:49

@Sydney1988 I regularly passed out in my first trimester with my first born. I put it down to living in Hong Kong and having to wear a mask in 40+ degrees. The locals there told me to always carry coconut water for rehydration and dried fruit for sugar. If I ever felt funny again I'd reach for those and it resolved things almost instantly.

Lillers · 26/02/2024 18:41

My work risk assessment was circulated to all relevant parties today, meaning several more people are now aware that I’m pregnant (I knew this would happen and it is necessary - these are the people who’ll have to be involved if I have any kind of medical incident at work).

A man that I’ve always thought of as a bit of a plonker came to check a couple of the finer details with me, and we ended up having a lovely conversation about how in awe he was of his wife when she was pregnant, and how difficult parenthood is but how incredible all the best moments are. I’ve never seen that side of him before and it made me realise that I’m walking into a whole new life where I’ll be able to connect with people on a completely different level. It was really lovely!

longingtobe23 · 26/02/2024 19:19

I am so tired it is so frustrating 🤦🏼‍♀️
anyone got at miracle cure for this!? As I can’t do too much coffee and I am off the taste anyway!
im over this I spent ALL day doing nothing on my very precious day off and it’s embarrassing 😂🤦🏼‍♀️🥱

VT6 · 26/02/2024 19:32

@Lillers its a lovely feeling when you can actually talk about it out loud aswell!
Parenthood is a club I’m very excited to join 💕

FirstTimeMum897 · 26/02/2024 19:36

@longingtobe23 fellow tired pregnant woman here. I'm 13 weeks and have not had that magical energy boost everyone talks about yet. My blood pressure is sooooo low, I can barely stay awake. 200mg of caffeine is not cutting it for me.

Emmaev · 26/02/2024 19:48

I’m totally exhausted, between feeling faint and wanting to sleep, I’m forever contemplating phoning in sick. The thought of running around for a 12 hour shift tomorrow in a fast paced care home makes me wanna crawl into bed

longingtobe23 · 26/02/2024 19:51

@FirstTimeMum897 yes I just did my BP and also very low

i just sent husband to shop for fizzy sweets as my head told me to eat them 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I’m still half comatose on sofa!
