as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

I'm just over 9 weeks and this morning I have woken up feeling no way near as sick as I normally do, I have been really bad since about 6 weeks, I'm not complaining but can't help but worry a little, when did everyone else's sickness ease? X

Lillers · 25/02/2024 08:38

@hol92 I’m 9+3 and yesterday was the first day I haven’t thrown up for ages. I still felt sick on and off, and thought I was going to be a couple of times, but it didn’t actually happen.

I’ve woken up today actually feeling a bit better - still slightly queasy, but well enough that I actually asked DH if he wanted to have a go at DTD this morning (first time I’ve felt like I could consider it - unfortunately he has a headache today 😂🥴🤦‍♀️)

longingtobe23 · 25/02/2024 08:49

Sorry I don’t like to be insensitive to those who’ve had awful news. I am so so sorry and think of you always ♥️

wanted to say thanks to those that checked in - it went as expected and bub had progressed finally matched dates I believed I was. I need to try to relax into it for the next few weeks. My lack of symptoms just get me nervous! But I really need to be grateful for the ease 🫣

MadsAngel · 25/02/2024 08:53

Morning ladies, I have had a huge lack of symptoms the last week and due to extreme stress at work etc it's got me really worried. We have a private scan today at 11am. I'm really hoping everything is okay but expecting the worst😓

Caroline2023 · 25/02/2024 08:54

@hol92 I’ve had the same, I felt awful just before 9 weeks and just after, but the last few days have felt a lot better in terms of nausea. I’m now 9 + 6 and had a scan yesterday that confirmed all was well, so I am assuming it can be pretty normal?

Emmaev · 25/02/2024 08:58

Most of my symptoms went at week 9, they did come back a little in week 10. I’m now 12+6 and only have acid reflux.

The golden time of 2nd trimester is approaching so hopefully gives us all some respite from symptoms

Cat2022 · 25/02/2024 10:00

I’m around 11 weeks now and feeling barely any symptoms. It started to get better end of 9th week. I do still get bouts of nausea but it’s nowhere near as bad. Such a relief as last time I had full on sickness till 20 weeks.

fleur89 · 25/02/2024 10:19

I'm 11+5 and they've died down a lot but I still feel nauseous if I'm hungry

Xur · 25/02/2024 10:21

@hol92
I’m 12 weeks today and my symptoms started to ease on week 8. Week 9 I had them only a couple times per week and week 10 I had none. Then on week 11 they came back and uglier than before.

I spoke too soon - definitely still sick today, just spent the last 20 minutes throwing up 😂

NotGeorgina · 25/02/2024 11:26

Has anyone else felt mentally battered and/or a blocked nose? I’ve had both of these and honestly it’s been a JOURNEY. Since reaching 12 weeks, I feel a lot better but Christ, mentally I have been feeling low and unmotivated and almost depressed. Plus not being able to breathe through my nose and just feeling generally unwell.🤧

longingtobe23 · 25/02/2024 11:46

@MadsAngel hope it goes well today 🤞🏻I also don’t have symptoms except for tiredness every pregnancy is different so I am trying to remember this it’s okay to have nothing

Bakerbean · 25/02/2024 11:56

@Xur our symptoms on each week have been uncanny! A rollercoaster of ups and downs with the nausea. I’m also 12 weeks today ❤️. You’ve already had your 12 week scan haven’t you, it was this week I think?

@NotGeorgina I’ve had a stuffy nose since just after Christmas, such a weird symptom. I am also really struggling with motivation & I’ve put it down to the fact that my drive for being productive is being squashed by anxiety over the what ifs of pregnancy. I feel like I’m unintentionally putting my life on hold because I’m waiting to be able to share the news of being pregnant openly with everyone (will do this if all is well at our 12 week scan on Wednesday 🤞🏼🙏🏻). I think the fear and the waiting is making me much less motivated to crack on and do things. I just feel like time has been stood still since we found out at 4 weeks & a lot of the time when I’ve felt particularly nauseous and knackered, I’ve just wanted to curl up in bed. You’re not alone ❤️

MadsAngel · 25/02/2024 11:57

All is well and saw our wiggly little baby waving arms and legs around🥰 Measuring as it should be at 10 weeks

Bakerbean · 25/02/2024 11:58

@MadsAngel congratulations! What a fabulous relief, enjoy this lovely high! ❤️❤️

Bakerbean · 25/02/2024 12:02

Please can I ask for any recommendations for any of the following from those more experienced than me ❤️:

  • Parenting books for new parents, preferably not TOO wordy and overwhelming
  • The best stretch mark cream
  • The best maternity leggings for anyone who is normally a size 16-18 ish. I ordered the XL from Asda but they’re way too big. I would prefer over the bump style 🙂

TIA! Xx

HolyMoly24 · 25/02/2024 12:10

@Bakerbean

We really liked this Expectant Dads book last time around. Even though it's aimed at dads I actually preferred it to my books

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Expectant-Dads-Handbook-pregnancy-beyond/dp/0091948045/ref=mpssa115sspa?crid=1IAXXQEZJ7OZE&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.F6lSnYlrBVA7wd7evWyTmEL7NN58rLO5dMQemwyRvsW2QczA9AbbajdRVCUWd44-u7x3ISMbuFwL97B03xuxbaUI47pbWCgX266uvfbEP59zJDJ8QflnjxvYjtH40Dpqo8jNJ84sSn4BfP0RC2xnu5gjXYXuMOtG-0lVo6IBNMQ-BsvU42uqbbsvAtq5ecU81ziCaJWcPPbfjAcmpikA.XXVXXHOXGWkPLwRRNEjVeoCq13xFtJvVwUoDRsP6fY&dibbtag=se&keywords=new+dad+book&qid=1708862835&sprefix=new+dad+book%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-5-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfbXRm&psc=1

I alternated between the Weleda oil and the one by burts bees last time and I didn't get a single stretch mark and I'm usually prone to getting them so I've started using those again. Although I'm bigger starting out this time to might not be so lucky.

SC126 · 25/02/2024 12:12

@Bakerbean have a look on Amazon for reviews on baby books though in my personal experience, the books didn't help me prepare for the reality of our new lives one bit. It was still quite a shock and you will certainly learn as you go and just know every parent will be googling crazy things like “is this poo normal” at 2am regardless🤣

I really liked bio oil or cocoa butter for stretch marks. I was very fortunate not to get barely any when pregnant with my eldest and I was very on it with the oils every day. I'll be doing the same this time but we shall see how the body fairs after a second giant bump!

NotGeorgina · 25/02/2024 12:22

@Bakerbean thank you for the reply, it actually means a lot to know I’m not alone, but I’m also sorry you’ve been feeling the same 💛

I have reached 12 weeks (no NHS scan yet) but it’s as if I feel so much better. The hormones have definitely affected my mood, rather negatively. Like you, a lot of anxiety and so I spent a lot of time worrying. I was even really worried that feeling so physically unwell would negatively impact the baby. I was convinced that I’d provided them with such a shit environment that id affected their development.

Feeling so much better now though. How many weeks are you currently? 💛

HRP1990 · 25/02/2024 12:36

@MadsAngel so happy for you! 🫶🏼💕

@Bakerbean I read a lot of books about birth, “Birth Better” by Siobhan Miller and “The Positive Birth Book” by Mili Hill were great in the last few months to prep for labour. I also bought “Your Baby Week By Week” but didn’t get round to reading it once she was here lol

Decaffe · 25/02/2024 12:59

Goodness me @Bakerbean, I could have written this myself. Word for word. You are not alone!

Bakerbean · 25/02/2024 13:21

Oh I love this group so much. Thank you all so much for your responses already 🥰

Kofifi · 25/02/2024 13:31

Hey all. Im now 10+5 and naseua is back.

Hate this waiting game for the scan. Have debated getting a private one a few times but I know it will only help for a day or so.
I'm feeling very self conscious about weight gain. The scale hasn't changed much but I've got a bigger belly and new double chin. Partner says i don't necessarily look pregnant just chubby, gee thanks.

Starlight11111 · 25/02/2024 13:33

Hi all! For those who have had NIPT results, what was your feral fraction? We just had ours, low risk yay, but fetal fraction only 3% and wondering if that's a bit low xxx

Emmaev · 25/02/2024 13:35

Aww so glad the scan went well @MadsAngel

@Kofifi i totally get the self consciousness, I got big really quickly mainly down to bloating and people have pointed out that I’ve got a baby belly already. I’m quick to point out it’s just bloating. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was huge and a random woman asked me at 18 weeks how far along I was and she proceeded to tell me she thought I was more as I’m very large. Thanks random lady, so that’s always stuck in my mind.
