@Honeyandsunshine1 aww look at us go! It’s so funny how everyone’s opinions on names is so different and when you find someone with similar preferences, so many names are a ‘yes!’

Do you have any girls names picked out at all? What are your two boys called? ☺️

Bakerbean · 10/03/2024 14:15

@Babyplease23 aww thank you, that’s really lovely to hear! I know not everyone will agree, and that’s absolutely ok! But we love the ones we have in mind so far. I’m so excited to find out what we’re having now (roll on the 23rd for scan day!). I’ve just been out baby browsing with my Mum for the last couple of hours, it’s such a treat to indulge in looking but I’m apprehensive to start shopping yet - partly because it feels early still, and partly because I’m keen to find out the gender first. We definitely won’t go ‘all pink’ or ‘all blue’, but it will still affect my decisions on purchases.

Babyplease23 · 10/03/2024 14:19

@Bakerbean It's so exciting isn't it, and how lovely to be able to share that excitement with your mum too! Totally get what you mean about it feeling a bit early. I have purchased a couple of small bits. There's lots of lovely neutral baby clothes which makes it a bit easier when you don't know what you're having. Although the 23rd isn't far away now!

HRP1990 · 10/03/2024 14:50

We’ve shared the news with our mums this afternoon - both on separate occasions, but funnily enough when we handed over a framed scan picture they both went, “aww isn’t that lovely” thinking it was an old scan of our daughter 😂 took them both a while to cotton on!

It’s nice for it to be out in the open now! Has anyone else shared today, too?

MudandMoet · 10/03/2024 15:27

@Bakerbean I love your names and the reasons for them. Remi is a particular fave of mine. Indie is fab too!

I've heard of quite a few Arlo and Albies recently around here and in our local little school (I'm chair of Govs so there often) I think they're lovely names but think there'll always be more than one in the same class. I always check popularity when I think of a new name as I like things that are different but not too out there.

@Lillers sorry about your experience today but couldn't help but lol at the angry cleaning! It's amazing how much vigorous cleaning we get done when we're angry right ? 😂

@HRP1990 I've shared today. My mum (actually step mum but call her mum) cried and cried tears of joy. My Nan kept saying well whose baby is it? She was thinking we were having her on! She's happy for us but was so shocked! DH dad was over the moon. He's a man of few words but he was clearly delighted. Telling my brother later via FT. He'll blart because we're so close I just know it.

SC126 · 10/03/2024 15:31

@HRP1990 my parents and in laws and that knew ages ago but yesterday I told my grandma which was nice and made her day. My husband also put a photo up on social media today so I suppose we shared with everyone else too 🤣 I don't mind though. I hate trying to hide it and I'd have told everyone at work tomorrow anyway. Saves me repeating conversations.

HRP1990 · 10/03/2024 15:38

Aw @MudandMoet that is so lovely - it’s the best seeing others reactions 🥰 how do you feel how you’ve shared? I’m sure I remember you saying something about wanting to keep it quiet for longer?

@SC126 aww 🥹 made grandma’s day! Yes - that’s very true! We’re going to try and tell everyone personally if we can, before anything goes on social media. I had to tell my mum/partners mum not to share lol, I know what they’re like and it would have been posted yesterday if we didn’t say not to! They’re v fb happy

Lillers · 10/03/2024 15:40

@HRP1990 We told dh’s Mum today - she came round for Mother’s Day and we gave her a card saying “Happy Mother’s Day Granny” - she was over the moon!
My side of the family already know, but we still need to keep it a bit quiet until FIL’s birthday (he and MIL aren’t together) when he’ll get a birthday card for Grandad - that’s not until the end of March so still quite a while to keep quiet!

SantasRubiksCube · 10/03/2024 15:55

@Butterfly2000 thanks, it's rubbish that when we should feel happy and proud about what our bodies are doing, we feel self conscious instead. I did really well to lose a stone and a half steadily last year then got put on medication where one of the main side effects is weight gain so ended up putting it all back on 😔 I dreaded my weigh in at booking appointment and felt really embarrassed. I'm sure we look better then what we imagine, I don't know about you but I'm my own worst critic but I try to remind myself that this is the last time I'm going to do this so I might as well enjoy it and work on losing weight after the pregnancy.

Lillers · 10/03/2024 16:17

@MudandMoet As annoyed as I am about why I was cleaning, my goodness the house feels lovely now 😂

Lillers · 10/03/2024 16:45

DH is definitely trying to make it up to me for this morning - he’s currently trying to source me a second hand bbhugme ❤️

MudandMoet · 10/03/2024 17:16

Tbh @HRP1990 it feels great! The relief is immense and just chatting freely about it feels much better than I anticipated. We've years of trying and heartbreak hidden inside which we quickly mentioned and twice as quickly brushed aside so that's all out now and I just feel great! Hope I've not jinxed it all now.

We don't do social media (I have an insta home account but wouldn't post this stuff on there) so like you most of it will be face to face with people.

Lillers · 10/03/2024 17:34

@HRP1990 Ooh I’ll let him know - he’s just made an offer on one on eBay that he could collect from across town so will wait to hear how that goes!

HRP1990 · 10/03/2024 17:40

@Lillers aww I bet she was so over the moon! We’re same, still have to tell Dad’s (both sets of parents aren’t together) so it’s 🤫 a little while longer.

@MudandMoet aw I’m so glad! You will definitely not have jinxed anything by saying that, but I totally know what you mean. Haha yes I also have a home account - I’m interiors obsessed.

RosiePH · 10/03/2024 18:58

Now I know I’m having a boy, I’m starting to feel a bit cheated by all these pregnancy symptoms 😂all the old wives tales were pointing to a girl and I keep reading about how easy boy first trimesters are. Please someone tell this to my cystic acne, awful fatigue, greasy hair, pasty skin and nausea!

I had to have Friday off work and I’m contemplating phoning the GP tomorrow to see if they could sign me off. Feeling very overwhelmed by the fatigue (and also because I’ve had spotting for a week now, which the EPU did tell me would likely happen again as I had a small bleed in the uterus which had dislodged a week ago at my NIPT scan - but it’s stressful all the same! The EPU discharged me though and said not to worry about spotting in my case, by telling me not to worry is easier said than done!).

longingtobe23 · 10/03/2024 19:11

I have just got that set bbhugme and paid full price doh! But its worth it and that's a steal someone snap it up!!

Love seeing all these names it's cheered me up. I am feeling anxious.

We told Grandma's and quickly the news got out (got to love grandmas) and lots of congratulations text messages are arriving.
But its made me so nervous all of a sudden. I am over 12 weeks but not had my dating and bloods and now I am a nervous wreck.

My DS 8 is Noah
I like Rafferty for a boy - Raffy
Genevieve for a girl - Gigi (after said grandmama also my sister's middle name so nod to them both)

I have a huge list but these are definitely top!

siobhanmt247 · 10/03/2024 19:26

Hoe eryone. Happy mothers day. I've been feeling sad all week and dreading today after I lost my mumat the end of last year. Decided to create some happy memories and shared out news online and I cooked a roast for my grandparents and mother in law. I only have 1 girl name and 1 boy name. I'm really hoping it's a girl as I'll be honouring my mum. We shared our chosen name from quite early and I loved it. Everyone asked after baby by name as the pregnancy was progressing

MudandMoet · 10/03/2024 20:00

@HRP1990 fellow interior obsessed girl here 🙌🏼 I'm all #cottagecore 😂

I'm guessing you're similar and trawling Pinterest and insta home accounts for nursery inspo! I'm giving myself headache with it.

I've just told my brother and SIL they're so happy and they've just had a little baby girl so have listed umpteen things they're gifting to us (we'll definitely see them right for it)

He mentioned the Ewan the sheep deluxe - says its been an absolute godsend for their daughter (7 weeks) so that's gone straight in the Amazon basket. Anyone else heard of these?

SC126 · 10/03/2024 20:13

@MudandMoet we had an Ewan with our eldest and I hated it 🤣 I suppose it's just preference but it ate batteries so quickly and in the end I binned it and just used a white noise app on my phone. It was probably one of the worse purchases I made 🙈 it was 5 years ago so they could have changed since then.

Babyplease23 · 10/03/2024 20:15

@longingtobe23 Rafferty/Raffy has been top of my list since before getting pregnant. OH is absolutely not having it 😔 I need to work on my persuasion techniques 🤣

ForeverHopeful67 · 10/03/2024 20:57

@MudandMoet we have an ollie the owl, my daughter absolutely loved it and it was so handy when we were staying away too, we've not long transitioned to a tonie box and she's almost 3 🤣
My husband also grew very accustomed to the white noise and struggled sleeping when she moved out of our room 🤣

Xur · 10/03/2024 21:17

Oh what a day what a day!! I’ve done so much today, unwillingly though, I cannot imagine ever scraping around for any energy to do any of this on week 6,7 or 8. I am exactly 14 weeks today, I feel weird. I’ve stopped craving protein and food in general, I feel like my tastes are changing again and I’m not sure if that is good or bad.
I’ve also decided I will not be nominating names until I find out the gender. I don’t know if it sounds horrible, but I think I am wasting my time breaking my brain over names if I don’t even know what’s in the oven.
I browsed baby clothes yesterday. I think I’m going to be one of those moms who use and apply all my style and creative inspiration on my kids. Whoever saw my house must take me for a very bland person. All my walls are white and all my furniture is either white or gray, but I have a creative sense of style and art and I am itching to dress my kids up really fun and colourful.

@Babyplease23 my OH didn’t love our sons name at first he went 5 days without one but ultimately I knew it was his name… just takes them a little longer ;)

Lillers · 10/03/2024 21:23

I had a mini breakthrough this evening - I went back for seconds at dinner! I haven’t done that for weeks. I’ve felt pretty rough all day, and am feeling crap again now (just got into bed for an early night) but I realised while I was eating dinner that I was actually enjoying it, and it didn’t taste like ash (which is what pretty much everything tastes like to me).

Small wins, but I’m grateful for every positive I get!
