Happy Mother's Day 😊❤️

Xur · 10/03/2024 08:22

Happy Mother’s Day ladies! 🥰
Mother’s Day hasn’t really started off well for me. I had a nightmare I was having a miscarriage, it was blood everywhere and I cried heavily in the dream. I got woken up before 7am by my work phone one of my employees who’s supposed to be working today isn’t coming to work. I was already covering a holiday yesterday so here I am day 7 at work, by myself. Tomorrow back to work of course, nothing changes, I still have to do another 5 days. Ehh..
Like my husband said today morning…this is the life of a manager. While others get to call in sick or whatever, we have to take up the work, regardless how tired we are. Sometimes I wish I could revert back the careless life of regular employee, but I’m overqualified for that now.

Happy Mothers Day!

@Xur Oh no, I hope the day at work will pass quickly and your DH has a nice dinner ready for you when you get home!

Bakerbean · 10/03/2024 09:11

Happy Mother’s Day everyone! I woke up this morning to a very sweet little surprise in the kitchen from my OH. I find it very, very hard to cry and haven’t been able to release any emotion since finding out I was pregnant, but this tipped me over the edge and I balled messy, happy tears for about 20 minutes! Isn’t it mad to think that this time next year we’ll be holding our squishy babies. I don’t think I will fully believe it until baby is here in my arms. The anxiety is still very much here for me every day, but like @Xur said, I’ve almost made peace with it now. Each day feels like a massive milestone & I’m just hoping for the best for myself, and all of us ❤️

I have also been really enjoying all the talk about names! We are 100% keeping our name choices to ourselves in our ‘real lives’ as I know there will be opinions from friends & family, and quite frankly - I can’t be arsed to deal with it! My Mum keeps saying “Well if I don’t like it, I’ll just call them something else” 🙄 kind of joking, kind of not…………….. she would soon see a more protective and unpleasant side to me if that did end up being the case!

We thing we are pretty settled on our boys name (Sullivan, or Sully for short) & will be using my OH’s Dad’s middle name (Nicholas) as we lost him very suddenly to sepsis 2 years ago, and my grandad’s middle name (John) as our boys middle names. We’re less sure on girls names… we have a few options, 2 in particular that we like. One is more mainstream (Imogen - or Immie for short), and one slightly less common (Indie), which I really love, but I worry would be one that my family wouldn’t approve of so much. I’m trying not to care, but it’s hard. We also like Remi. Girls middles names, we do like classics like Rose, May & Grace, but we also would still like to honour my OH’s Dad, so are thinking of possibly using ‘Halia’, which means remembrance of a loved one ❤️. We will keep looking and listening out for names we like throughout the rest of the pregnancy, as ultimately we won’t decide until they’re born!

I’m happy to discuss names freely here as there’s a lot less pressure, and hopefully if you don’t like our names… you can scroll on 🙏🏻😂

fleur89 · 10/03/2024 09:46

We're having a boy and both like Felix and Henry. Concern is Felix reminds me a bit of cat food and Henry is quite common 🤔

Our first was a girl and we had loads of options, find boys names much harder!

HRP1990 · 10/03/2024 09:50

@Bakerbean that is so, so sweet! Bless your OH! I really like Sullivan/Sully - I’m really into names that are “normal” but less commonly used. Really sweet that you’re honouring family members with middle names too. We did this with my daughter’s middle name as my partner lost his Nan suddenly, so her’s is Sylvia.

RosiePH · 10/03/2024 09:53

I’ve always like Oliver for a boy, but DH teaches a particularly naughty Oliver this year and feels the name is ruined for him! My sympathies to all the teacher wives here trying to name their babies!

We both quite like Noah, and DH suggested Arlo yesterday. Arlo feels a bit ‘out there’ although it does seem to be quite popular. And if we ever had a girl, we’d go for something traditional like Charlotte or Emma. So I think Noah might be a better option. I keep trying Arlo out in my head though.

SC126 · 10/03/2024 09:55

@Bakerbean I love Indie! I don't feel like it's too out there tbh.

Cinai · 10/03/2024 09:56

I love name talks 😍 our front runner for a boy is currently Julian. I also really like Jonah but we’re both not religious and I’m worried that the bible connection is too strong. I also like Florentin. Not sure about girls’ names, I like Ella but DH doesn’t.

Bakerbean · 10/03/2024 09:58

@RosiePH we loveeee Arlo too, and Alby & Arti have been on the list at one point as well. Ultimately we decided that Arlo seems to be becoming a bit too popular at the moment and we would like to try and avoid choosing a name that might be used multiple times in the same classroom growing up. But who knows! It’s still a really cool name & it does keep slipping back into my mind!

Lillers · 10/03/2024 10:01

@Bakerbean Aw, that card is so lovely!

@Xur I’m sorry your day has been derailed - so frustrating.

My Mother’s Day hasn’t got off to the best start. I was awake early feeling rubbish, went down to have some breakfast because I ate too late yesterday and felt crap all day, then came back up to go back to sleep for an hour. This was when DH got up and went downstairs. I then hear from the kitchen, “Oh I’ll empty the dishwasher then shall I?”

He has been amazing so far, has literally done everything to keep the house running, but clearly it’s been building up and he let it out today. I was so angry I got up and started angry cleaning the house. I’ve not been able to do much recently so this was a big surge of adrenaline that got the living room, kitchen and bathrooms cleaned.

When DH then gave me a card and flowers from the bump, I was still so upset that I barely acknowledged them. He knows he shouldn’t have said what he said, but I also understand that he’s only human and as hard as this is for me, he’s finding it hard too and while I have outlets and people I can talk to, he just let it build for too long.

I feel bad for what he’s saying being true. I feel bad that I wasn’t able to acknowledge his lovely gesture properly. I feel sick as a dog for having spent all that time aggressively cleaning instead of sleeping. And I feel especially bad because his Mum will be round soon and we’re telling her about the baby today, which DH has been so excited about all week.

We’ll fix this, we’re normally really good at conflict resolution. I just wish that for the moment, I could curl up in a dark room and sleep instead of having to put on my happy face for our visitors 😔.

ForeverHopeful67 · 10/03/2024 10:01

Happy Mother's Day to you all 🥰 my day started off with my toddler having a poo on the toilet whilst I'm in the shower - if that doesn't sum up Mother's Day I'm not sure what does 🤣

I’m the teacher in my marriage, and honestly, the connotations with certain names will absolutely ruin them for life! Luckily for mine, I’ve never taught anyone with our girl name. I do currently teach 2 boys with our boy name (secondary school, so different year groups) and luckily they’re both lovely kids. There is a challenging boy in the school with the name but I’ve never had anything to do with him, so not a strong enough link to rule the name out.

Love that 😂 my partner came into the bedroom with a huge bunch of flowers this morning.. he gave the cards to my daughter and said “give these to mummy” which she replied with a swift “NO” 😂 she’s too sassy for her own good

Xur · 10/03/2024 10:29

@HRP1990 😂😂😂😂 did she get the temper from you or from her dad?

@Cinai my husband’s name is Julian. I absolutely love that name! It’s so elegant.

@Lillers 😂 I can relate to that. Today my husband had the balls to comment that I got to “escape” housework as I had to go to work today.
He was not delighted how since I am at work and going to be doing a 12 hour shift, he will have to do the jobs I normally do on a Sunday. That is-do the laundry, do the groceries, prepare food for the week for him, prepare food for the week for me.
Now when I am doing that every week it’s nothing special, when he has to do it “it’s a lot of work and a busy day”.
That comment didn’t sit well with me, so I told him I never want to hear him speak about this like that ever again and that it makes me not like him.
He said he was joking, but I know it was only about a 50% joke.

Awww!! 🥹🥹 Great taste!! Sully is going to be our boys name, too! I heard it last year and can’t get it out of my head. We still haven’t found out what we’re having yet though, however, we already have 2 boys so I’m convinced we’re due another 🤣💙 Indie and Immi are also gorgeous. There are a pair of friends in my children’s nursery with these names, and they’re so lovely so I have very position associations to these names. I think your taste in names is fab 😍

Happy Mother’s Day ladies, next year we will have our little ones with us 💕💕

Babyplease23 · 10/03/2024 11:39

@Bakerbean You have great taste in names! We had such a long list of girls names but typically we are having a boy 🤣 I love unique names but OH doesn't. Only one OH has suggested that I semi like is Leo!

SantasRubiksCube · 10/03/2024 11:49

Loving all the names, I think I've picked up a few I like from this thread now 😁 has anyone else been struggling with body image? I was large and unconfident before getting pregnant but now I feel like I'm just ballooning all over rather then getting a nice bump. I know it will pop out at some point but I've been trying to put off wearing maternity clothes as haven't told work yet, just been wearing a larger size trousers and baggy jumpers but because it's not maternity wear it's making me look like I have an extreme B belly (especially as I'm very small in the bust department) I just feel like a fat bloated mess rather then a blooming, bumpy pregnant lady 😂

Honeyandsunshine1 · 10/03/2024 12:08

Butterfly2000 · 10/03/2024 13:50

@SantasRubiksCube I know what you mean! I feel like I just look like a big round ball! I'm plus size anyway and currently extremely bloated but look like I'm about 6 months pregnant. I never even thought about how I would feel about my body before pregnancy but didn't think I'd feel this bad. I want to start trying to lose some weight sensibly and tone up asap. I have a hen do this month and am dreading figuring out what to wear each day
I'm sure we feel bad but look great as people keep telling me. Hormones probably don't help us feel very good. Wear whatever you're comfortable in, bump will be bumping before you know! 😊
