Hi everyone, been lurking for a while but not posted before. I’ve got my booking in appointment tomorrow - anyone know how long it’ll take? I’ve told work about an hour and am now worrying I’ll be later.

My first scan isn’t until 19th (which is also my birthday!) - totally empathise with everyone saying these couple of weeks have felt like they’ve taken FOREVER.

Xur · 06/03/2024 18:30

Nice to see all the bellies! ☺️

I shall join the show, here’s mine. It’s not that big of a deal at the moment.

Due September 4.5 🐣♥️🧡💜

You guys have all such neat little bumps. I look like I've swallowed a hippo

Lillers · 06/03/2024 18:53

@BadLobster Hey, welcome! My booking appointment was just over an hour, but a lot of that was because I fainted when they took my bloods so they had to keep me for a while until I was safe to leave 🤦‍♀️.
A lot of it will be dependent on your medical history. If there’s anything that will require any explanation it might take longer, whereas if it’s all straightforward it won’t take as long.

YellowZ · 06/03/2024 19:01

@siobhanmt247 don't worry I'm in the hippo club too. It feels more wobbly than bump-y.

HRP1990 · 06/03/2024 19:07

Aw your bumps are so cute! My bump seems to be from belly button down, like I’ve got a beer belly or something 🥴

MudandMoet · 06/03/2024 19:09

Thank you @HRP1990 and I agree with you and @VT6 it's so lovely to have this little secret but I think I am ready now for talking about it. I see my Nan (who's really with it to say she's 90 this year) at least twice a week and I know she'll be over the moon so I'm really looking forward to be able to talk about it with her and take her along to scans etc.

Hi @BadLobster I was around an hour with my booking in appointment, I think that's pretty standard unless as @Lillers says, you have health issues, then it could be longer. What a lovely birthday that will be having your scan that day too xx

@Xur your bump is so cute!! Just a nice round little shape. I can't wait until I'm showing properly and people can tell it's pregnancy and not just extra pounds!

Emmaev · 06/03/2024 19:39

I feel huge compared to all of your cute little bumps. I’m just gonna blame all the bloating and the fact my muscles must be super relaxed after my daughter haha

I keep getting wow you’re only 14 weeks you’re big 🙄

Xur · 06/03/2024 19:49

@Emmaev
wow wow wow! That is a bump!

@MudandMoet thank you! I think mine looks like extra kilos aswell though😂 the maternity jeans make it help look more like a small bump. I got mass/fat growing on my back/ behind hips as-well, which has never happened before. Do you have it aswell?

@cd24x what is it that you are you worrying about? Is it things going wrong or what people think. How did work/your circle take the news?

cd24x · 06/03/2024 20:08

@MudandMoet it's such a constant worry. I don't remember feeling like this with DS. I guess it's going to feel like this until baby is here and healthy.

@lpylou it's the worry that things will go wrong. Not helped with having a molar pregnancy and miscarriage last year. Work have been great about it, already starting to plan for maternity cover. And all family/friends are so excited. I guess the main worry is what would happen if things went wrong and then I had to tell everyone and deal with the disappointment. But I can't keep myself in a bubble for the next 6 months!

I think if it keeps affecting my sleep, I'll speak with the MW. I've had issues with anxiety in the past and at my booking appt she did say to let them know if it feels like it's becoming an issue again.

So glad we've got this thread to chat about stuff like this.

BadLobster · 06/03/2024 20:09

@Lillers and @MudandMoet thanks so much! I’m pretty healthy, although a bit older for a first pregnancy, so hopefully it should be on the quicker side!

TripleESept24 · 06/03/2024 20:23

Hi all,

New poster :) Due 13th September.

Today I have had THE MOST severe constipation I have ever had in my life!!!!! I never thought it would come out and I was hysterical crying. 😪

Had it during my first pregnancy (2003/2004! Big age gap!!) and ended up having an op after baby born due to fissure. Always suffered since with haemorrhoids but they come and go.

I'm snacking on prunes and trying to drink as much water as possible!! Is there anything I should avoid?! Anyone else had it this bad and am I right in thinking things could only continue for the remaining 6 months 😭

TIA (Also my 29 YO DDs name 🩷)

20 year old DD 🫣🙈 not 29 lol

MudandMoet · 06/03/2024 20:42

@Emmaev that's a great bump and definitely doesn't look like weight at all, just pregnancy.

I wear oversized baggy clothes generally but when mine rounds off to a proper bump I'll be so proud I won't be able to wait to show it a little in the odd outfit a little more fitted.

@Xur I think my ass and/or thighs have got bigger as my knickers have been digging in this last week or two. Need to invest in some nice big granny pants!

@BadLobster you should be fine, I think most of the time it's if they're running behind that causes delays when having appointments 🤞🏼 they're not.

Hi @TripleESept24 no advice but I had it too, I've been a lot better since I came off the pregnacare vitamins and took individual ones. Are you on those by any chance?

TripleESept24 · 06/03/2024 20:45

Hi @MudandMoet

I am on the pregnacare multi vits! And only just started them this last week! Was taking just folic acid and b12 before that!

So it could be those! What individuals do you take?

Thanks :) x

SantasRubiksCube · 06/03/2024 21:06

Hi all can I join please, just joined Mumsnet (I was on here years ago when in the trenches of hyperemesis with DD1) am now working on baby number 4, due 5th September 😁

ForeverHopeful67 · 06/03/2024 21:15

Loving seeing all the bump photos 🥰

And welcome to our newer members!!

I'm 14 weeks today, had a pop up on my phone that said welcome to the second trimester and was like :O how are we a third of the way through already!!!

lpylou · 06/03/2024 22:11

@cd24x so sorry to hear about your molar pregnancy and miscarriage, that's a lot for one year. Sharing definitely helps and not having thoughts spin around in your head. I wonder if there is a CBT method of recognising the thoughts and having a distraction to stop the remuneration. I'm saying this as I have the same remuneration challenges and feel exhausted at the end of some episodes. Have been thinking of ways to manage it.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 07/03/2024 01:07

Had the NIPT blood test today. Decided to do it due to the 1 in 950 chance of one of the trisomies. That’s not a high chance, but when my last pregnancy they were in the 10,000s, I think I just need peace of mind.

also means we will find out the gender in no later than 2 weeks. EEK 🥹

I’m placing my own bet here as boy 💙💙

HRP1990 · 07/03/2024 07:06

Morning! I was just wondering if anyone is carrying on with exercise/taking up any exercise now you’re pregnant?

I went to my reformer class last night and there was a quite obviously pregnant lady there and I thought - good for you! She was amazing, did everything everyone else was doing! I’m hoping I can carry on as long as possible 💪🏻

fleur89 · 07/03/2024 07:15

@HRP1990 I'll be exercising throughout. With my daughter I was induced for being overdue, on the day I gave birth I did a 2 hour hike, an hour of yoga and a strength training class... was on maternity leave and had nothing else much to do 😂

I did some form of exercise every day during that pregnancy and it's the same for this one - I do a mix of strength training (so important!), yoga, spin, stair master / walking uphill on a treadmill, barre, resistance band workouts and swimming. I cut high impact - usually I do CrossFit style training with loads of burpees, snatches etc.

After I gave birth I had no stretch marks, zero ab separation, and lost the baby weight within 3 weeks. My sister recently gave birth and did the same as me with the same results. I'm sure it's partly genetic but I think remaining active throughout played a huge role

Xur · 07/03/2024 07:27

@HRP1990 yeah I will be, just waiting for the 14 week mark to restart. I didn’t feel safe doing anything earlier.

Is anyone else suffering with nosebleeds?
On my entire life I can count how many I’ve had on one hand. This pregnancy I’ve had about 4 and every time I blow my nose it’s bloody mucus
Ive had so many different symptoms this time, it really is true no two pregnancies are the same

HRP1990 · 07/03/2024 07:57

Wow @fleur89 that is so expressive!! I was worried about core exercises at first but my instructor said about important it is to strengthen our core.

I only walked in my last pregnancy (just walked the dog to the beach for about an hour a day) never had back ache, pains etc and my recovery was fairly was straight forward. However I’ve been going to reformer classes for over a year now so I’m hoping it’s going to pay off even more so in pregnancy and recovery 💪🏻
