I had a bebecar classic style pram for my first and second. It was white and is near 9 years old so I'm looking at just getting a new carry cot part for it as I have 2 chassis - bigger classic wheels and a more compact frame.

Car seat wise I think we will be looking at a britax again as had one with my little girl. Not looking for it to fit the pram wheels as baby shouldn't be in car seat position long so would rather transfer to pram anyway.

Xx

HRP1990 · 05/03/2024 12:47

For my daughter we use the Joie 360 which spins - it is so much easier to get her out the car when she faces you vs reaching in and grabbing her.

For this baby I’m considering the Cybex cloud - has anyone used this? I like the idea of the lay down function, rather than being in the seat for too long and transferring, sounds ideal to remove them from the car in the seat and recline it!?

MudandMoet · 05/03/2024 13:11

@VT6 jumping on this pram convo... I'm really fancying a really decent three wheeler pushchair as we're always outdoors or up the farmyard. I'm wondering if to go cheaper on a pram (thinking nearer 1k than 2k!) for the first colder 6/7 months then invest in a really good 3 wheeler as that'll get way more use. Thoughts anyone please? Is this a daft idea? Just thought, unless there is a decent 3 wheeler pram system?

SC126 · 05/03/2024 13:21

@MudandMoet not used it personally but I've heard the out and about nipper is really highly rated as a 3 wheeler. A lot can come with a carrycot attachment as well to potentially save you buying two prams but if you did I would definitely go cheaper on the less used pram.

Cat2022 · 05/03/2024 13:24

@MudandMoet i would definitely look at the out n about nipper and you can get a carry cot so would t need to buy 2 prams. I wish I’d got one last time but will be getting the double version now just make sure you get the nipper and not the sport as that’s just for running.

Cat2022 · 05/03/2024 13:25

@SC126 sorry I didn’t see your reply till after I’d posted so said exactly the same thing haha

YellowZ · 05/03/2024 13:44

@MudandMoet we've got a baby jogger citi mini GT for DS which is good on bumpy tracks, the beach etc. Not sure if it would be hardcore enough for a farm, but worth checking out the brand? It folds really easily, has a good break, is still comfy for bigger toddlers. We'll get a carry cot for it for the new baby.

Oh dear, hope you ladies that are sick are feeling better soon 🙏.

I haven’t posted in awhile, but just wondering if anyone over 13 weeks is still feeling awful/ getting sick/ nauseous?

I’m 13 + 3 and I’m still vomiting daily (started around week 7). I thought it was easing as I didn’t get sick on Sunday, but last night and this morning it’s back with a vengeance. Im working from home today and would love to crawl back into bed but I’ve already taken some sick leave due to the vomiting. Just praying the blissful second trimester is around the corner

I’m 13w4d and still getting sickness as well unfortunately! thought I was over the worst of it but then had to take a few days off work the end of last week due to the sickness coming back strong. Fingers crossed for a more settled second trimester!

MudandMoet · 05/03/2024 15:48

@YellowZ @SC126 @Cat2022 brilliant thanks girls! 🤩

Gives me something to go on when I properly start looking. Love the idea of one that will do both jobs! I'm tempted to have a sneaky look now but I'm working and have a finance meeting shortly so better not else it'll be a rabbit hole few hours I'm sure.

On a side note.... this is my first meeting since being pregnant and usually I ring DH as I'm leaving and he has a lovely, very large G&T ready for when I get in to relax me. Not tonight sunshine, not tonight! 😫

Sorry to hear you're in the same boat @RachSmile . I'm hoping it eases for us both over the next week and we can enjoy the second trimester!

I use the Uppababy vista v2 as my day to day pram with my daughter. We bought a second hand yo-yo babyzen for travelling. Highly recommend both! IMO car seats that clip onto prams are always rubbish. I was given a free doona from a friend and hated it - baby hated it so much she refused to go in it!

cd24x · 05/03/2024 16:40

@VT6 we used the IB Stomp v4 for DS. We got the travel system bundle including car seat. We really rate the pram system. DS was a chunk so didn't have issues with him sliding down once he switched to the stroller seat. I wouldn't recommend if you're going to be doing a lot of off path walking though. The car seat we had no issues with, however when we transitioned to a Cosatto all in one spin after DS outgrew the IB car seat, we realised it wasn't as sturdy on the isofix base as the new one. So I'm now thinking of buying a new car seat for baby. Definitely recommend a spin car seat, especially if you have C section, as DH had to get DS in/out of the car until I recovered. We barely used the car seat on the pram system, so don't think it's worth paying extra for car seat adaptors or worrying about not having a seat that comes off the isofix base.

cd24x · 05/03/2024 16:45

Oh, just to add, for travelling, and if DS is not feeling like a walk, we use the Joie Brisk Stroller. Less than £100 so we weren't worried if it got damaged/lost when flying (it actually got lost on way back from our holiday last year and we replaced). We used it from when DS was about 18 months, but it does lay flat so technically suitable from birth.

@mudandmoet just thinking, would a sling/carrier be easier for baby on the farm to begin with? I know some in my NCT group from having DS who live rurally used their carriers constantly for walking across fields etc

tierneytarny · 05/03/2024 17:02

@HRP1990 I used the cybex cloud car seat with my first two. One loved it, one hated it and wouldn’t be reclined in it. The only big criticism is that it is so so heavy. My sister has a maxi cosi car seat and it’s lovely and light.

I second the uppababy vista pram - I will be using it for baby 3.

I second the out and about buggy too. We got this primarily to be a running buggy but we’ve used it a lot - great off track and on beaches etc.

fleur89 · 05/03/2024 17:22

My daughter lived in her carrier for the first 7 months of her life as we lived in HK during that time and prams were impractical due to the terrain and narrow streets. Recommend the baby bjorn mini, I also treated myself to a discounted artipoppe as a fashion statement 😂 For the early days the baby bjorn mini is definitely better though and way cheaper of course.

longingtobe23 · 05/03/2024 17:23

I used a big bugaboo system for my first
plush and fancy and easy! But by the time he got to 6 months I was bored getting it in and out 🤦🏼‍♀️ I only used for long walks at weekend

I will be investing in a smart/slightly fancier from birth stroller and use both! I like the look of the Joolz Aer and EggZ if anyone has had these?

longingtobe23 · 05/03/2024 17:25

@fleur89 also really fancy an artipoppe 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ but not sure my other half will approve!
not that he has much choice in the matter I push out the babies …

fleur89 · 05/03/2024 17:27

@longingtobe23 I found a £50 off voucher online and just bought it on the joint account without asking 😂 He never ever mentioned it, my daughter was a few days old at the time so I reckon he knew he had no say!

fleur89 · 05/03/2024 17:28

I'll resell it once I don't need it anymore, I bet they do alright on Vinted!

longingtobe23 · 05/03/2024 17:28

@fleur89 yes I have a referral discount from a friend and the resale will be great! So why not good idea 🤞🏻🥰

once I’ve got the basics covered I’ll be taking the plunge!

I have an Artipoppe carrier too! Loved it, definitely going to use it again this time!

Kate543 · 05/03/2024 17:37

We have a mamas and papas travel system which I must say I still use with my nearly 2 year old (although she is small and not walking) we chose one with big wheels because we take the dog on long walks round the countryside every day and I have loved it! Have to look for a double buggy this time that gets on a bus easy but will withstand the walks 😂 worried it feels like a tall order

Butterfly2000 · 05/03/2024 17:41

Loving the chat about travel systems, you're a knowledgeable bunch! First baby for me so there's lots I haven't though of. But mindful of not going for something just because of the name.
@fleur89 What's the downside of car seats that clip onto prams?

SC126 · 05/03/2024 17:45

@Butterfly2000 car seats on prams are grown out or become very heavy in under a year and babies can only stay in the car seat for like 2hrs max and much shorter as a newborn.

My son hated being put down at any point in the day so I barely used my carrycot part of the travel system. Instead he lived in a sling and a carrier in and out of the house.

fleur89 · 05/03/2024 17:46

@Butterfly2000 I find they're not as sturdy, don't turn, and typically only suitable for when they are babies.

I'll check the brand of our isofix one once home. It's great as it lasts from newborn until age 4 (or older as it depends on weight)), you can have it rear facing or front facing, it turns to help you put the baby in the car, it's comfortable (my baby cried constantly with the pram combo one we were gifted and the yo-yo) and it's isofix so meets the highest safety standards.

Plus in reality I had zero situations in which I needed the combo. It's annoying having to reset up the pram, I always keep the car seat in the car and the collapsible pram (yo-yo and Uppababy ones I have both collapse) in the boot. Fixing the car seat onto the pram is a right faff, you have to make sure you buy the right adapters etc., plus I'm useless at this kind of thing - pain if alone.
