Yesterday was a really stressful day at work, and on my way home I felt like I had a sore throat. Just put it down to talking all day. Then I was more tired than usual and went to bed early - woke up at midnight because the pain in my throat was worse. Then over the next few hours of not sleeping, I developed a headache, cough and started sneezing. I guess combo of lower immune system for pregnancy and lower immune system when you’re stressed means you end up with a super-accelerated onset of cold symptoms!

I had this last week @Lillers turns out it was a chest infection and high temperature. I was given antibiotics which cleared it in the end, so definitely keep an eye on things! I wasn’t so worried about the cold/cough but the temperature turning into a fever which isn’t ideal in first trimester!

VT6 · 05/03/2024 08:00

Ladies I know it’s early on still but I’m a control freak and like to be super organised so been looking into travel systems 😂
Have any of you 2nd/3rd time Mumma’s used the brand Ickle Bubba?
I’ve found a bundle that is an amazing deal but want some proper reviews on the brand.
I love love love ICandy but the price is insane😭 I’m a first time mum and will need to get everything & also need to save as self employed so maternity leave is a no 😂

Lillers · 05/03/2024 08:13

@HRP1990 Oh no, that doesn’t sound good! I hope you’re feeling better now. I thought about calling the GP for an appointment today but figured I wouldn’t actually have much to tell them yet beyond having cold symptoms. If it gets worse I’ll call this afternoon to try to get an appointment for later in the week if necessary.

Xur · 05/03/2024 09:44

@HRP1990 oh no! 😟 I hope you feel better soon! I thought I was about to get sick last week as I had random series of sneezes and an itchy throat but it ended up just being a scare.

something funny happened yesterday. You k is what is one thing that I really don’t want to have, but it looks like it’s happening-baby brain.

Sunday I was cooking soup for my partner. Yesterday (Monday, so a whole day later) on my way from work I had a random thought that I don’t remember putting the potatoes into the soup when cooking it. I went home and headed straight to the fridge. I opened the fridge to see the potatoes still there. 🤦‍♀️
So I boiled the potatoes and added them to the soup 😂 I didn’t want to admit myself to forgetting the potatoes, so I had to hide that something was cooked shortly before he came from work, so I made some spinach pasta right after 😂
Turned out he had already eaten one bowl of the soup before and didn’t notice the lack of potatoes. After yesterdays dinner he didn’t notice that the potatoes have appeared in the soup either😂

Oh dear, hope you ladies that are sick are feeling better soon 🙏.

I haven’t posted in awhile, but just wondering if anyone over 13 weeks is still feeling awful/ getting sick/ nauseous?

I’m 13 + 3 and I’m still vomiting daily (started around week 7). I thought it was easing as I didn’t get sick on Sunday, but last night and this morning it’s back with a vengeance. Im working from home today and would love to crawl back into bed but I’ve already taken some sick leave due to the vomiting. Just praying the blissful second trimester is around the corner

Starlight11111 · 05/03/2024 09:59

@VT6 one of my friends has an IB and got on really well with it. She's starting to struggle as her little girl has turned 18+ months as the foot rest can't be raised and her little one slides down in the seat a lot. Apart from that she loves it

HRP1990 · 05/03/2024 10:04

@Xur @Lillers I feel loads better thank you, especially now I’ve finished the course. I know nothing it too TMI around here - but I was coughing up hard mucus 🥹 disgusting.

I have my scan tomorrow so I’m glad the cough has shifted otherwise I’m not sure they’d let me into the hospital lol

Fik88 · 05/03/2024 10:13

@VT6 i too like to be super organised and been looking at travel systems. I looked at the ickle bubba too but there are quite a few bad reviews on the carseat you get with the bundle so put me off a little bit, but that bundle on their website looks fab

SC126 · 05/03/2024 10:21

@VT6I personally never used the ickle bubba but my best friend had one and really rated it. The car seat isn't so highly rated safety wise so might not be worth getting the bundle for that reason. I would think about any potential sales that can come up between now and September as all the travel systems get massively reduced. My pram bundle with my eldest was mamas and papas in a sale and was really good price with everything included and also included a well branded maxi cosi car seat and isofix base etc. So definitely shop around.

SC126 · 05/03/2024 10:23

@Firsttimemama403 im still having days where I'm feeling really nauseous. Today particularly. I had a month off work but I'm back this week and we have agreed I can do some working from home which is a relief.

Bakerbean · 05/03/2024 10:33

Just jumping on quickly to ask if anyone can please explain my combined screening results to me? 🙏🏻 Not sure if this means my Papp-a is a bit low? And also don’t understand the two different measurements for chance of down’s?

TIA if you can help! X

Low PAPP-A is considered 0.41/0.40 and below so yours is a v good level. They’ve given your chance of downs with age alone being 1 in 726, and then factoring in all your bloods etc, they’ve adjusted it to 1 in 5000 which is all good as far as I can see! 🥰❤️

VT6 · 05/03/2024 10:45

@Nic17 @Fik88 @SC126 thanks ladies ❤️
there is a pram shop/warehouse near me so I’m going to have a look next weekend to see what kind I like then just keep an eye on sales 👌🏽x

HRP1990 · 05/03/2024 10:54

Just thought I’d say it’s worth checking Facebook for any new/good condition prams. I ended up buying a new Bugaboo Fox but only used it for about a year and then bought a Yoyo stroller. So it didn’t really get as much use for the money we paid! Deffo should of bought it second hand instead

SC126 · 05/03/2024 11:05

Yes I second what @HRP1990 says. Don't spend a fortune on these fancy travel systems even though I can fully admit they are gorgeous. You will use it for only like a year and soon be sick of dragging around the big heavy pram and just end up buying a stroller. Also as the baby gets bigger it does become heavier to push so when you try them in store they feel lovely to push then in reality it's not as fun 🤣

Fik88 · 05/03/2024 11:07

@HRP1990 I've been looking on Facebook marketplace and there are quite a few travel systems on there that look new apart from the odd scuff to the frame, definitely considering buying second hand just can't decide which travel system I like

Bakerbean · 05/03/2024 11:08

@Honeyandsunshine1 thank you so much, that’s really kind of you to explain 🥰

wingingitandsoaring · 05/03/2024 11:11

@VT6 I used ickle bubba with my first and really rate it! Looks as good as the expensive brands in my opinion and it's really sturdy. I have the stomp V3 travel system and I'll be using it again with the new baby

VT6 · 05/03/2024 11:26

@wingingitandsoaring thank you! They are gorgeous aren’t they! And the bundles they have at the moment at insane!

as it’s my first I want to buy new for my pram- not a snob & happy to have secondhand for some things but there is something special about buying the pram

wingingitandsoaring · 05/03/2024 11:37

@VT6 totally understand wanting to buy a brand new pram for your first. It's definitely a special purchase and so exciting to buy!!

Martibum · 05/03/2024 11:57

@VT6 throwing this in but I bought an oyster 3 and it was/is amazing. The tires never deflated, it was so easy to use. You can get adapters for maxi cosi seat too. My mother has 7 other grandkids and she would always comment how my pram was the best to use, even compared to icandy one my brother was using for him.
We used it up to 2.5 years for my first as there was no need to get a smaller stroller.

Only thing is, doesn't convert to a double if that's your near future plans. Go have a look around the baby shops and take them out for a test drive round the shop floor. Also, see how they fold down so you can see if it will fit in the boot of the car.

VT6 · 05/03/2024 11:59

@Martibum thank you! I think that’s the best thing to do so I can see what one both me and my partner like the best

Martibum · 05/03/2024 12:07

@VT6 I had my heart set on an Egg stroller until I tested it out! It all depends on your lifestyle e.g public transport, footpaths vs country roads, size of your boot etc. My brother got the icandy and it can't even fit through their front door 😒

VT6 · 05/03/2024 12:13

@Martibum I live in a village and have a dog so need it to be able to go on country walks so will definitely be looking at lots of options!
there are just soooo many to chose from
