@Kofifi I went also by recommendations from 3 close friends and my sister and got a BBhugme
sadly they’re still using theirs, so I couldn’t pinch/use second hand! But I did get a discount code online - I could have used vinted/Facebook market but no luck!

it isn’t the cheapest but they all swear by it and use it afterwards and for feeding and propping up in the sofa etc. sleep is HUGE for me so I was willing to part with the money 😂 if I don’t sleep I am miserable.

hope that helps! I am 12 on Saturday and scan isn’t until following week so I’ll be storing it away for 2 weeks until I feel certain to use it, but they recommend not belly sleeping from 14 so I’ll whip it out then X

HolyMoly24 · 04/03/2024 10:07

I had a brilliant pillow last time by Terraline I think it was called. However my DD sleeps with it every night now and I just know there's no way she will part with it so I'll have to invest in a new one. I think it's worth paying for a good quality one, you can't put a price on a good nights sleep!

WolfMother326 · 04/03/2024 10:45

Hello everyone, hope all are well. I'm feeling stressed because I found out yesterday that the hospital I registered at has just had its maternity service rated inadequate in its last report, issued 2 weeks ago. The report suggested the service was understaffed, not clean and that patients had experienced excessive bleeding and lack of care/ not given needed procedures etc.

I had signed up to this hospital which is a little further from my home because its new in the last 10 years, had a good reputation and my gastroenterology consultant was based there (I have yet to actually see them, I moved to the area a year ago and they keep putting me off, also not a good sign!) Also I had my surgical management of miscarriage at the hospital nearer to me and wanted a fresh start. The one nearer seemed over crowded and really chaotic.

But now I'm thinking of switching because I had such a traumatic birth first time around (in London, in part due to understaffing and improper monitoring). Any thoughts?

fleur89 · 04/03/2024 11:15

@longingtobe23 second the bbhugme. Used this with my first pregnancy and my sister borrowed it for hers - need to get it back 😆

@WolfMother326 trust your gut and don't compromise on your care would be my recommendation. I live in central London so am lucky to have many to choose from. I'm purposely not choosing my closest option due to poor ratings, poor personal experiences there dealing with my miscarriages and poor experiences had by local mums that I've heard about

HRP1990 · 04/03/2024 11:16

@Kofifi @longingtobe23 I got mine out the loft a couple of weeks ago and forgot how nice it was - my partner keeps stealing it lol. I have a bbhugme pillow which is expensive but soo worth it!

Emmaev · 04/03/2024 11:24

I really need to invest in a pregnancy pillow.
I finally bought my first maternity item yesterday and got some jeans. Had to admit defeat, no way I’m getting a pre pregnancy pair on.
But 14 weeks today! Feels like it’s going quickly but so slow at the same time

VT6 · 04/03/2024 09:55

I’ve got my scan on Friday and already I’m a nervous wreck! How I’ll get any work done this week I do not know 😂

@VT6 Mine is Wednesday and I’m feeling the same lol. I just got a text as a reminder (like I’d have forgotten🙄😂)

I’ve just bought a frame to pop the scan picture in to surprise my mum for Mother’s Day. Hoping I haven’t jinxed anything 🤞🏻

VT6 · 04/03/2024 11:39

@HRP1990 its awful isn’t it! I had my reminder last week 😂
We are doing the same with my partners nana, I need to still order the frame 🫣
Our mums already know & have done for ages! Its been nice to have them to speak to about things as they’ve both done it multiple times 😂

Catmumma2 · 04/03/2024 12:32

Hi everyone, I have been very quiet here so far. Had my 12 week scan this morning and all looking good so far. Baby was not being very cooperative so they weren’t able to do the screening as it kept looking over its shoulder! Due date is 11th Sept (hoping that’s not unlucky!). Sad that I wasn’t able to get a printout as they haven’t had any paper in a while due to a shortage of it apparently. At least we were able to take a picture of it ourselves. Exciting times ahead.

Hello, a quiet lurker here! I’m having my NIPT today. Should be about 10+4. Feeling so nervous though! I don’t like needles at the best of times and I feel like the private clinic won’t be as good at taking bloods as the midwives are. Also, very nervous about what the results could reveal (and the potential to create far more anxiety than they may solve!).

Had an EPU scan due to spotting and cramping last week, but all was well so hopefully it still is.

Cinai · 04/03/2024 13:07

Good luck @RosiePH! I had my NIPT last week, also done privately. I was so nervous, mostly about whether the scan will be ok, but it went very well and when she took my blood I could hardly feel it. Now waiting for the results.

hol92 · 04/03/2024 13:49

So I was meant to be telling all of my family Saturday at my baby's first birthday party :) but my scan isn't actually until next Thursday :( Am unsure what to do I don't really want to pay out for a private scan so close to my nhs one but also would feel weird to tell everyone Before my scan but it's so rare to have all of my family in the same place so would be lovely to tell everyone, I had a scan at 9 weeks and all was well - was just really hoping it would be this week

Butterfly2000 · 04/03/2024 14:06

I got a pillow a couple of weeks ago as I was quite uncomfortable at night, thought I'd try just a cheap one off amazon to start and have definitely been sleeping better!
Had to call sick today as I've had a migraine since yesterday and my nausea is off the chart!
Good luck @RosiePH
That's a beautiful pic @Catmumma2 How far along are you?

@RosiePH Good luck! I'm having my NIPT tomorrow and then my 12 weeks scan on Thursday. Also feeling very nervous about the results and whether the baby is ok etc as I had some spotting at 8 weeks but hoping everything is still ok. It's so hard not to worry!

luckyfaith · 04/03/2024 14:13

Another vote for BBhugme - really helped me with my sleep in my last pregnancy.

Butterfly2000 · 04/03/2024 14:17

@WolfMother326 Do you know when they were inspected? They may have made improvements by now. It might also be worth asking on here or local Facebook groups if anyone had given birth there recently.

@hol92 If it's easier to tell everyone together then go for it this weekend as planned. You can always share your scan pic once you've had it if you want to

MrsM89 · 04/03/2024 14:49

@WolfMother326 my local hospital mat services don't have a very good report either. - Ive had 2 babies there but the reports are since that. I'm really hoping things have improved.

MrsM89 · 04/03/2024 14:50

12 week scan all went good. I will post a pic later just a quick question. Has anyone been told thier placenta is currently covering babies exit route? I know there's time to move but being a prem due to placenta previa baby myself it made me nervous.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 04/03/2024 15:08

Hi everyone, just had my screening test results back. 1 in 950 isn’t very high I know, but it does seem it against 1 in 5000? In my previous pregnancy’s they’ve been 1 in 5000 or 8000. I don’t know what to think!

tierneytarny · 04/03/2024 15:35

Coming up to 11 weeks and still exhausted here. And suddenly nauseous after not having real symptoms. Eurgh.

rupertbear91 · 04/03/2024 15:35

So I know they say we shouldn't feel movement until 16 weeks but I ate a donut this morning and was lying in bed and I had the weirdest feeling in my belly like a washing machine twisting never felt like it before. I have a baby heart beat app on my phone I haven't found the heart on yet so stuck it over exactly where I felt the movement and got the heart beat for a good few seconds before it disappeared again and the feeling stopped! It was very surreal!

Xur · 04/03/2024 15:54

I’ve not been very active on here the last few days. The thing is, nothing is really happening. My symptoms have calmed down and I just don’t feel like anything. Some moments I’m still wondering whether there is a live baby still in there because of how normal I feel. I started wearing maternity trousers from today.
I went to see my good friend yesterday who delivered her first baby just a month ago and she taught me how to change a diaper. I changed a diaper for the first time ever just yesterday. I had never picked up a small baby before either, all the times when I had held a baby before they were already holding their own head, but this one is still learning and I had never picked up a baby like that. I just feel so weird and I struggle to believe I am cooking one baby like that in me.

OP posts:
HRP1990 · 04/03/2024 16:14

@Xur I feel exactly the same! Dare I say it, I almost feel normal (which I know is good but still makes me feel a little anxious!)

Also, I felt exactly the same before I had my daughter. Her nappy was the first one I had ever changed lol. Everything literally just comes naturally when it’s your own. Out of nowhere you just seem to know what you’re doing with a newborn! I definitely feel nervous holding other babies, but with my own it’s like second nature lol.

Martibum · 04/03/2024 16:26

@Xur you'll be surprised at how the baby will just naturally curl into you when you hold them :) keep an eye on parenting courses that are local to you. I'm in Ireland so might be different but I done a free online first aid course which was helpful.

I have such a mental block on buying things for the babies. I will need to get a double buggy but don't want to get rid of my single one just in case :/ feel like I'm tempting fate or something. My due date is 3rd Sept but it will be more likely end of July into August so I don't have that much time. I was advised to get nipt test (not standard in Ireland), scan was fine but more of a precaution, as it would affect both babies. I haven't even booked my bloods for that which isn't like me. 🙃

SC126 · 04/03/2024 16:51

@Xur parenting just comes to us all naturally weirdly enough. When my first was born I had never held a baby, changed a nappy or dressed one. That babygrow was definitely buttoned up wrong the first time 🤣 two weeks later my best friend had her baby and then I held my second baby ever 😂
