as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

@Bakerbean everything I wear at the moment makes me look about 25 weeks pregnant, and I feel so uncomfortable telling people I’m only 13 weeks. I’m sure they must think wow you’re huge haha.

This is my 2nd pregnancy my girl is almost 8 now. But i carried large with her too despite her coming out 3lb 8. Is this your first?

Lillers · 03/03/2024 16:55

@MrsM89 I feel like you’ve been my sickness twin a couple of times in this pregnancy 😂

californiacooper · 03/03/2024 17:25

Hi everyone.
Unhid this thread temporarily just to say hi and see all your gorgeous scan pics. Well done, they all look so beautiful and I'm so happy for you all. ❤️
I've had a terribly sad week, booked in for surgery on Thursday, just want this chapter to be finished so I can move on. Bring on baby in 2025... (I think I'll be pushing it for 2024 now🥹)
So pleased to see all of you doing well and I hope you're all over the sickness etc now.
Take care xx

Lillers · 03/03/2024 17:28

@californiacooper I was thinking of you earlier today. I still have no words, but I hope we’ll see you on a future BFP thread not too far from now ❤️

siobhanmt247 · 03/03/2024 17:42

Thinking of you @californiacooper keeling my fingers crossed for a rainbow baby for you soon x

Emmaev · 03/03/2024 17:45

Does anyone understand how dating works? I’ve been trying to figure it out since they put me 3 days ahead. I know the exact date of my lmp, we bd on the day I was predicted ovulation, then 2 days after. And that was it for the month. I don’t get it haha

Emmaev · 03/03/2024 17:46

Wishing you all the best @californiacooper in your ttc journey ❤️

They date you by CRL measurement, if that’s what you’re asking? So, even so much as a mm can throw dates slightly. In my scan she measured about 4 times, either being 13w3 days, 13w2d an 13w1d! So I was actually wondering what they’d “allocate” me 🤣 they gave me 13w2d in the end, but it just goes to show how even a slightly different measurement (of the same fetus) can really affect due date! X

Emmaev · 03/03/2024 18:14

Thanks @Honeyandsunshine1 this is what I thought as obviously they’re so small at that stage every mm counts. Was just struggling to get my brain around it haha

rupertbear91 · 03/03/2024 19:20

@Lillers I'm with you on the dry heaving. Dragged myself out to dog training this evening and didn't even get to bring the dogs back in the front door before I had to run to the toilet to just stand there dry heaving. At least being sick you're done and can move on 🤦🏽‍♀️

I'm certain from my last pregnancy they date on size alone. I just happened to have an enormous baby and still do, so they brought my date forwards by 1 week and in the end he ended up being 5 days after the original date (based on my last cycle) and 12 days late from the 'dating scan'. Maybe he was late but maybe he was just big and not due.

Lillers · 03/03/2024 19:49

@rupertbear91 Exactly, with the dry heaving I never know when it’s over! I was in the bathroom for nearly half an hour earlier because I was too scared to move in case I wasn’t really done!

MrsM89 · 03/03/2024 20:01

@Emmaev its by size but it should be roughly that the 40 weeks are counted from 14days before you ovulated. So basically you are 2 weeks pregnant before you ovulate technically.

I know I ovulated Xmas eve so mine should be counted from. 10th Dec. (currently they are counting from lmp 6th Dec until dating scan but all my early scans have matched my dates)

Butterfly2000 · 03/03/2024 20:42

@Bakerbean I know what you mean, my upper abdomen like near my ribs has popped. I definitely get more round and bloated as the day goes on

I enjoyed my 0% Kopparbergs yesterday so thanks for the suggestions and reassurance! x

ForeverHopeful67 · 03/03/2024 21:02

Evening ladies 🥰! Hope everyone is keeping well!

Just catching up on messages

@siobhanmt247 @sansol in regards to your message about work. I had to tell two of my directors that I was pregnant very early on as I also got offered a promotion, I'm quite good friends with the one so would have felt uneasy keeping it a secret accepting the job and then telling her a few weeks later. But just wanted to offer some reassurance that despite the many sleepless nights stressing about this, my MD didn't treat me any different and I still got the opportunity and they were nothing but pleased for me!
It's worth noting too that legally your company can't discriminate / treat you any differently because you're pregnant!

Just booked in my 16 week appointment today, and got out my maternity pillow out! Feels all so surreal still.

Thank you for replying. I almost did that but I barely know my manager, he started in October and is based in US. I didn't want to put him in an awkward position but telling him, as then he couldn't make a decision. It was strange as over 6 weeks he told me I hadn't got it, then I got pregnant then he said I had. I do wish I had said something as now I feel like it will look bad. Taking the job then telling them.

ForeverHopeful67 · 03/03/2024 21:37

@lpylou the same with my MD I wouldn't have been comfortable telling him so luckily my director/ manager did and gave him the heads up before our meeting so that he had enough time to process it etc. In the end of the day you have done nothing wrong, and had they had not messed you round in the first place then you would have had the job before you were pregnant anyway ☺️ I'm sure it will all work out for you.
Selfishly the way I look at it too is it brings in more money before we're off on leave! X

lpylou · 03/03/2024 22:07

@ForeverHopeful67 thank you for your words. It's hopefully a long term role for us both so in the grand scheme of things probably ok.

The anxiety has reached fever pitch with it all being announced tomorrow. I feel like a fraud and like I've deceived them,

I then feel ashamed for feeling like and feel worse, ultimately I thought it would take 5-6 months but I'm so blessed to be expanding my family and to fall so fast.

In 20 years time, all being well I will have a 21 and 19 year old, and won't know any of these people.

Xur · 03/03/2024 22:20

I told my work via email, when I delivered also my relevant risk assessment forms and all that and I got no response from my boss whatsoever. 😂

Bless you all with work worries. Times like this I'm glad I'm self employed. Looking at MA I'm not glad.

Honestly don't feel bad at the end of the day you can't control when you are offered a promotion and what happens. Things will all work out for the best. Xxx

FuppinNora · 04/03/2024 07:43

At the end of the day a job is only a job! You owe them nothing. I told my team lead and she was delighted. I gave her the task of telling the overall manager who took about 5 days to ring me to congratulate me - she said this herself that it took awhile to sink in!! There is a big project coming up that I'm leaving right at the start of but guess what? They'll survive. I don't know why managers are like this. Years ago I would have been bothered by it but if I left in the morning I'd be replaced. Easier said than done but please don't be worried.

Is anyone finding pregnancies hard on their stomach? Even after a full meal it makes me sicky.

Had my 12 week scan and all went well. Putting me on aspirin for placenta as a precaution as last baby was small and they are also going to induce me a week earlier. Baby is measuring fine for now. Luckily I had read on here about aspirin so I didn't panic.

Good luck to all those getting scans this week. Exciting!!

FuppinNora · 04/03/2024 07:44

Haha pregnacare not pregnancies. Pregnancy is hard on the stomach alright!

longingtobe23 · 04/03/2024 09:43

I ordered a pregnancy pillow - not even ashamed, anyone else!? I keep waking up flat on my tummy which is how I normally sleep, fall asleep on the side but wake up star-fished!

I have no bump or anything to report yet, but once 13 weeks and scan/results come back I’ll rip it out of the bag and at least I’ll get my monies worth 😅

Kofifi · 04/03/2024 09:46

@longingtobe23 which one did you end up buying? I would love to get one soon so need to get some recommendations!

Im hitting 12 weeks this week! Feels like a huge milestone. Nervous and excited for the scan. I've been loving seeing everyones pictures.

VT6 · 04/03/2024 09:55

I’ve got my scan on Friday and already I’m a nervous wreck! How I’ll get any work done this week I do not know 😂
