as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

Morning all, been up since 4 because I needed a wee, now can’t get back to sleep because I feel sick and my husband keeps snorting in his sleep which makes me gag each time 😭. Have spent the last hour reasoning that it’s not fair to wake him up and tell him off for it 😂.

Xur · 03/03/2024 08:23

@rupertbear91 congratulations on the lovely scan 💚

@Lillers I had that on Thursday-to-Friday night. I tried to kick my hubby to make him turn to the side but it didn’t work 😂 I told him off the following day, during a random conversation 😂 he doesn’t snore often or hard so he didn’t get offended.

I have been up since about 5 but not because of snoring it was the cat who woke me up. Slowly feeling my energy creep back now Iv hit 12 weeks so I think I’m going to try and use that time to do some exercise before work this week as I have barely moved in 3 months.

Aw definitely a bump!! Mine looks similar and I’m 12+3. My scan is Wednesday morning 🙌🏻

sansol · 03/03/2024 12:05

Any working second time mums nervous about letting work know they're pregnant? I returned in July and have recently been promoted into my old managers role. It's weighing on my mind. Due to go back on maternity leave in September, exactly 14 months after I returned, due 30th Sept.

siobhanmt247 · 03/03/2024 12:09

@sansol i went back to work in July too and I was having discussions with directors in December about progression opportunities and they're trying to push a promotion through now. I'm telling my boss next week after my scan. I'm so nervous and would rather wait but people are already eyeing my tummy and I can't hide it anymore :(

@MrsM89 mine is tomorrow at 3pm. Hate that it's so late on the day

sansol · 03/03/2024 12:17

@siobhanmt247 our situations sound very similar. Have you spoken to many people about it for advice, what have they said?

Wasn't sure if I was being dramatic feeling how I do. Part of me thinks I shouldn't need to choose between mum and career. Another part of me knows people will be shocked how soon I've fallen and right on top of applying for my managers role, albeit it's only being announced tomorrow but I applied in October, found out I didn't get it in December so we started trying and fell in Jan, then found out I got the job the day after I found out I was pregnant. I almost said something on the spot but that would have put them in an awkward position and I was so early on.

The weight of it has been overwhelmingly stressful at times, they're finally announcing it all tomorrow and I'm 10 weeks today, so know time is running out and I need to say something after my scan.

To add to the stress, we havr a work trip to US which 2000+ people will fly in for and I'm going to be 13 weeks, not drinking and showing. Fine for my manager and a few key stakeholders to know but I would rather the whole company didn't.. working mum fun.

sansol · 03/03/2024 12:18

@siobhanmt247 just saw your scan is tomorrow. All the best for it.

Lovely bump pic! What time is your scan tomorrow? Mine is at 11:20am tomorrow. Although 90% certain that DH won't be able to come now, as DS has yet another bug from nursery so looking likely he will have to stay home to look after him 😔

MrsM89 · 03/03/2024 12:59

Mine is 11.50. Eeek I'm so excited to see baby again but also so nervous too. X

Sydney1988 · 03/03/2024 13:07

@MrsM89 Lovely bump! You’ve inspired me to get out my leggings and try a dress! I’m 12+4 and also have my dating scan tomorrow, at midday. Excited/nervous. Going to tell friends and family after that, all going well. Already had NIPT results which were lowest probabilities thankfully! Best of luck for yours x

MrsM89 · 03/03/2024 14:09

@Sydney1988 thank you. I live in dresses.
Did you find out gender with the nipt? X

Cat2022 · 03/03/2024 14:19

@MrsM89 mine is tomorrow at 11

@sansol I am only back at work 2 weeks after 14 months off including holidays so will only be back for around 7 months max.

Sydney1988 · 03/03/2024 14:19

@MrsM89 I did - a girl! Was convinced it was a boy but a lovely surprise. I feel like we found out so early but was too impatient!

sansol · 03/03/2024 14:22

@Cat2022 how do you feel about letting work know you're expecting?

Cat2022 · 03/03/2024 14:33

@sansol not great but equally it is what it is I guess. In some ways it’s a bit easier as Iv been out of the loop and therefore off track for promotion. I am planning to wait until around 20 weeks if I can just to let myself get settled back in a little.

Bakerbean · 03/03/2024 14:44

Is anyone else feeling really bloated right at the top of their tummy? I feel like my stomach already feels squashed but I keep telling myself that’s surely ridiculous at this early stage (13+5)?! Definitely feeling bigger now, but as my ‘bump’ is so high up I’m guessing it’s all bloat rather than baby. Can’t wait to start to properly round out in weeks to come so I can feel pregnant rather than just big and bloated!

I really need to invest in some more maternity clothes, specifically more comfy bottoms. I so wish there were options available to try on in high street stores rather than having to guess the sizing ordering online - unless I’m missing a shop that has them in store?

siobhanmt247 · 03/03/2024 14:57

@sansol yes I confided in my mentor and one of the other women in the leadership team. She actually got her last role when she was 6 months pregnant. She said they will wait for the right person and these days they are more ok with stuff like this happening

Emmaev · 03/03/2024 15:11

@Bakerbean im 13+6 and totally feel this. It feels like my belly has risen right up which feels impossible as the baby is the size of a lemon haha. But my acid reflex is right in my throat pretty constantly. I’m feeling so round, but some of it must be baby by now 😂

Bakerbean · 03/03/2024 15:55

@Emmaev it’s always so nice knowing you’re not alone! 🙈 I compared photos of me from 5th February to today, and there has definitely been growthhhh, I just feel huge and uncomfortable in my own skin at the moment, but I know it’ll get better the more pregnant I look! 🙏🏻 Is this your first pregnancy?

Lillers · 03/03/2024 16:18

Has anyone else had issues with dry heaving? The last couple of days I have still felt as nauseous as ever, but when I think I’m about to be sick I end up hanging over the toilet bowl dry heaving for ages. All the normal body convulsions etc associated with vomiting, just not actually bringing anything up. I can’t tell if it’s better or worse than actually being sick, and whether this is a sign that my sickness is getting better, or just entering a new and equally annoying phase?!

SC126 · 03/03/2024 16:18

@Bakerbean im so bloated and uncomfortable in the evening. I do have a small bump but my stomach swells like 3 times the size by evening due to bloat and is always rock solid. I can't wait for that to go away.

sansol · 03/03/2024 16:22

@Cat2022 that's true, I'm quite the opposite and have been back 7 months so just enough to get the job job and fall pregnant to go again. I worry it looks like I'm taking the mick but the truth was I found out I was pregnant and the very next day they told me I was being reconsidered for the role. I was told almost 2 months before I didn't get it.

MrsM89 · 03/03/2024 16:28

@Bakerbean totally feel this too. Feel like everything has been pushed up despite baby being so small atm.

@Lillers yes my sickness has progressed to this delightful stage. I'm still occasionally sick but much more just the motions of it without anything coming up. Like you I'm not sure what's worse.
