Hello ladies,
as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

Can totally relate on the butter, it just looked really weird and smelt disgusting one day at 4 weeks and I couldn’t look at it again until 12 weeks. Even buttering my daughters toast made me want to hurl

HRP1990 · 02/03/2024 10:54

Is anyone taking weekly bump photos? I’m going to start today at 12 weeks with my instant Polaroid camera - pretty sure the majority is bloat right now lol but it’ll be nice to track progress

Xur · 02/03/2024 11:41

@Decaffe After the diagnosis, will you consider changing the GP?

I took one on the day of my booking appointment, and because I’m terrible at remembering to do things like that I thought maybe I’d just do it on days when I have appointments so I can sort of track progress that way!

@Decaffe After the diagnosis, will you consider changing the GP?

Unfortunately I’ve seen lots of GPs in two different cities and they all blocked an onward referral. Even my IVF consultant told them I needed a referral - nothing. An anaesthetist told them I needed a referral (due to goitre) - nothing.

The most recent time I asked for a referral the GP’s actual words were “I’m not going to refer you because there’s a very long waiting list,” I felt like saying “yes but if I’d been referred eight years ago when I first asked I’m sure I’d have got to the top of one by now!”

Decaffe · 02/03/2024 12:03

@HRP1990 I am 11 weeks on Monday so not yet sure if what I have is bump not bloat! 😁

I’ve been using an app called “1 second everyday” where you just film a 1 second video, to show my belly growing! It looks silly at the moment as I’ve just been bloated for the last few weeks 😂 but I think it will be nice to look back on later to see when the changes really become noticeable!

Ooof, that is weird and shameful from all the doctors involved. I know someone who had hormonal issues related to other organs and she went to a private clinic for the test (also because GP refused to investigate), came back with the test results and showed them in her GPs face and NHS has to facilitate therapy for that. Even if they didn’t diagnose. 10 years is a really long wait for a thyroid issue.

@Decaffe The gp's sound terrible. Worth pu tting in a complaint?

@RachSmile That app sounds good, think I'll try it in a few weeks

Has anyone tried Nozecco or other alcohol free drinks? Or would you just give them a miss?

HRP1990 · 02/03/2024 14:57

@Butterfly2000 I had an alcohol free Kopperberg (flavoured cider) on Valentines Day and you couldn’t tell the difference!

VT6 · 02/03/2024 15:00

@Butterfly2000 the best one I’ve tried is the freixenet 0%

Butterfly2000 · 02/03/2024 15:07

@HRP1990 @VT6 Thanks both. Ooh I didn't know there was an alcohol Freixenet. Was just mindful that there can be trace amounts of alcohol.
I've got some of the kopparbergs and schloer as a back up

Decaffe · 02/03/2024 15:53

I’ve been really impressed with the Noughty drinks, I’ve tried the red wine and the rose Prosecco so far and have really liked them. 🥂 I tried some of the non alcoholic cocktails and G&Ts (eg the cans from M&S) but I thought they were all far too sweet.

40andhopeful · 02/03/2024 16:31

Agree with noughty drinks, although I have only tried their Prosecco.
I have a bottle of the Kylie Minogue alcohol free pink Prosecco but haven't tried it yet. The alcoholic stuff was surprisingly quite nice (drank over Christmas before I was pregnant of course!)

rupertbear91 · 02/03/2024 17:13

Had my scan this afternoon. Little bean was sleeping with its hand over its face but heartbeat strong and measuring a few days ahead again so now 11+1 🥳

Due September 4.5 🐣♥️🧡💜
siobhanmt247 · 02/03/2024 17:14

Congratulations @rupertbear91 :)

Lillers · 02/03/2024 18:00

@Butterfly2000 I don’t mind Nozecco, but agree that Freixenet 0% is nicer, and love the alcohol free Kopparbergs! Unfortunately at the moment all I can stomach is squash though, so having to put the nice drinks I bought at the beginning on hold for a few more weeks 😂. Also don’t worry if some drinks have trace amounts of alcohol - it’s about on a par with things like orange juice.

Kate543 · 02/03/2024 18:53

nipt came back all low risk 🥳 I was so surprised they called on a weekend and found out we are having a boy

feel like I can relax now

That’s great news - and another boy for the thread! 😁 What company did you have it with?

Kate543 · 02/03/2024 19:03

@decaffe it was a place called scan linc but not sure if they have other branches or just in Lincoln 🤷‍♀️

Decaffe · 02/03/2024 19:07

@Kate543 Oh that’s interesting thank you, I’ve just googled them and they use the Concepto lab for their NIPT tests. My private clinic tomorrow also uses Concepto so it’s good to hear their turnaround is quick! Was it ScanLinc who called you or Concepto themselves out of interest? I read that they (a general ‘they’) only telephone if it’s a high risk result so good to know that’s not necessarily the case.

Honeyandsunshine1 · 02/03/2024 19:11

Congrats on all the lovely scans and positive test results 😍🥰 I know you were keen to have your NIPT back in order to relax @Kate543. You already have a daughter am I right? Meaning a boy gives you one of each, are you excited?

Do we have any confirmed girls here?! I’m so torn on whether to book a private gender scan, wait until 20 week scan or just keep it a surprise 🤪

Fik88 · 02/03/2024 19:27

Congratulations on all the scans. Not been on for a bit, getting really nervous for my scan next week now, trying not to think about it too much. I think we are going to pay for a gender scan if all goes well next week instead of waiting until 20 week scan. We could do with knowing so we can sort out whos going in which room, we have a boy and girl already, we didn't find out with either of them

Kate543 · 02/03/2024 20:11

@Decaffe it was scan linc who called and I think they always call as soon as they get the results but I had told her how anxious I was about it and they were so good :)

@Honeyandsunshine1 yes I have a girl already so one of each is lovely :) to be honest I was so convinced it was a girl 😂 my husband is buzzing I know he was secretly hoping this one would be a boy!

HolyMoly24 · 02/03/2024 20:29

Congrats on the scans and NIPT results 😍

If anyone likes lager, B&M do a fab alcohol free one called Freedamm (lol) which is so nice. It's super cheap too so god knows what's in it but nice as a treat every once in a while.
