as per suggestion in respect to the owner of the previous thread I’ve created a new (continued) thread for us.

How was everyone's nausea week 9? I read it's the worst for pregnancy symptoms, it's been very up and down this week. Currently the nausea has stopped. My second pregnancy and I do remember symptoms coming and going. Had a private scan at 6 weeks and all was well.

wingingitandsoaring · 29/02/2024 08:40

@Decaffe I was still tired in week 10, it only started to get a little better last week and I'm currently 13 weeks. I never nap during the day usually either but I have been having regular 2 hr naps while my 2yo is at preschool!

hol92 · 29/02/2024 08:59

@sansol I had nausea 24/7 from about 5 weeks I am 10 weeks tomorrow and this week it's definitely been more up and down which I'm grateful of! But also then when I read 9 is the peak it confuses me 🤣 but same as you I'm sure I remember it coming and going later on with my first x

sansol · 29/02/2024 09:29

@wingingitandsoaring I'm going on a work trip to west coast America when I will be 13 weeks. How big is bump? Could you dress to hide it, it's my second and I'm not sure how early to expect to pop. How are you feeling now you're 13 weeks, does that mean the napping is still ongoing?

wingingitandsoaring · 29/02/2024 09:34

@sansol bump is definitely popping, but I can dress to hide it. I'm about the size I was at 18 weeks with my first! Crazy how much faster it grows. I'm still feeling tired / low energy but not needing to nap anymore, and the nausea has pretty much gone except a few mild waves here and there, and my nausea was bad from week 7-10

cd24x · 29/02/2024 09:50

@Decaffe Week 10 has been the worst in terms of tiredness for me so far. Most days has been a nap on the sofa in the afternoon when I'm supposed to be working. I'm really hoping it starts to subside soon!

HRP1990 · 29/02/2024 09:54

Congrats on all the 12 weeks scans! I’m 12 weeks today which feels like a massive of a milestone 🥹

I saw another thread this morning with girls Due Nov 2024 which is just crazy! Things really are kicking on, I swear I only pee’d on a stick like the other day lol.

Bakerbean · 29/02/2024 10:23

I really cannot tell at all from my scan what the gender is, I can’t wait to find out! Any predictions welcome! We hope to do a private gender scan at almost 17 weeks ☺️

Xur · 29/02/2024 11:00

@HRP1990 yeah I saw the November thread 🤣 and the same way there’s a thread Due March 2024 in which ladies couldn’t believe they are already there, at the end 🤣

OP posts:
Xur · 29/02/2024 11:02

@Bakerbean I think it’s a boy! 🩵

OP posts:
sansol · 29/02/2024 11:04

@Bakerbean boy based on skull :)

YellowZ · 29/02/2024 11:12

@NotGeorgina I'm going to say girl as well ☺️

rupertbear91 · 29/02/2024 12:15

@Decaffe I'm week 10 too and fatigue is really bad. My HG and lack of food isn't helping but it's such an intense fatigue and sleep is my favourite activity!
Im waiting for the miracle lift and burst of energy I'm promised in a few weeks 😂

My anxiety got the better of me and I couldn't wait another 2 1/2 weeks till my dating scan so booked a private one for Saturday 🤦🏽‍♀️

WolfMother326 · 29/02/2024 13:38

Thanks everyone for sharing thoughts on pregnacare. So I'm not the only one. I will go back to the Holland and Barrett ones which I took for months and are fine for me and cheaper anyway!

On the topic of maternity clothes, I have been buying some. My clothes aren't fitting now, even living in leggings which is hard with work. But any recommendations for jeans or leggings that are good for 2nd trimester/after birth? Everything I've bought for lower half is massive. We're going on holiday in 2 weeks and I want to feel comfortable but not sure what to wear.

WolfMother326 · 29/02/2024 13:39

Also dating scan tomorrow, feeling excited/nervous.

HRP1990 · 29/02/2024 14:49

Good luck for tomorrow @WolfMother326! in terms of pregnancy clothing I bought a lot from Seraphine previously, and can vouch for the leggings, joggers and vests - great for after birth too. Not sure how much wear you might get out of them to begin with (however they say to buy your usual size and it grows with you) I thought this was a great bundle. https://www.seraphine.com/en-gb/the-mamas-essentials-set/

MudandMoet · 29/02/2024 15:35

Lovely seeing everyone's scans and updates on them. It's such a milestone 🫶🏻

Good luck with your scan tomorrow @WolfMother326

I need @sansol to have a go at predicting my 13 week scan pic from
last week if I can be so rude as to ask...pretty please 🙏🏼 (I'll attach the pic again) I'm just so curious even though we can find out soon!

Lillers · 29/02/2024 16:33

Hey everyone, just catching up on today’s messages!
I’m finally 10 weeks today - every week feels like a milestone, but this one feels the biggest yet (which I suppose would make sense, as it is, in fact, the biggest yet).
I went into work today after being off yesterday and spent the day being told how ill I look - always great to hear 😂.
My HR person wasn’t in today so I went and spoke to the Head and told her that if I keep feeling this bad then I’ll potentially get signed off. It just so happens that they were planning on asking my team to start working later on Fridays, but weirdly 20 minutes after I told her about me potentially being signed off, I got an email saying they’re reviewing the late Fridays thing and it’ll most likely be shelved…hmm I wonder what triggered that change of heart!

Xur · 29/02/2024 17:59

Last week I had my dating scan and the blood drawn for trisomies, on Monday I saw that the results were uploaded on the app and I am low risk for anomalies, however, I did notice that they noted my Papp-a was 0,34, but should be 0,4+.
So today I received a letter confirming I’m low risk for trisomies, but they attached more information about the Low Papp-a results.
I am now being placed under consultant obstetrician, I have an another letter that says I have an appointment booked in already in May and they’re telling me to take 150mg aspirin.
I will have to give urine at every midwife appointment. It says I will be offered additional growth scans.

Lillers · 29/02/2024 18:16

I hope you’re feeling ok about all that, @Xur - hopefully it sounds like they’re on it in terms of how to manage it. I don’t really know what Papp-a is all about, but having anything out of normal range must be a little worrying for you. Fingers crossed it’s all easily manageable!

Butterfly2000 · 29/02/2024 02:14

Hi everyone, would you mind if I join? I've been following but have been a bit anxious and getting my head round it all so decided not to post for a bit. This is baby no1 for me.Loving all of your scan pics their so beautiful! My 12week scan is in a couple of weeks. Isn't it mad that we're growing these little humans and no-one checks on them for three months unless we go private! Dh and I have resisted a private scan although I think it would have calmed me a few times albeit temporarily. I'm loving the honesty about how everyone's feeling mentally and physically. Really looking forward to sharing the journey and hope I can be a support to others

Hi, all.
I’m new here too! Trying to catch up a bit but so much to read.
this is my first pregnancy too and it’s all a bit surreal so far. im older too at 40 and therefore “high risk”” and consultant led (which I’m actually pleased about)
im 10 weeks + 4 and have yet to get my scan date through 😩 might chase it tomorrow. Due between 20-25th September
I had 2 scans due to an ectopic scare at 6 weeks so ended up at the early pregnancy unit and got the all clear.
feels like a long journey ahead! The nausea has been awful even with meds prescribed, I could sleep from 2pm until 8am.

YellowZ · 29/02/2024 18:22

@Xur good they've picked up on it and have a plan in place. I'm also not sure what papp-a is for?

YellowZ · 29/02/2024 18:24

Hi @Samwins and @Butterfly2000 👋🏼

SC126 · 29/02/2024 18:27

@Xur from the little knowledge I know I think having low papp-a increases chances of having slow growth. So they will monitor you with extra growth scans to keep an eye on the growth and making sure the pregnancy progresses safely. I wouldn't worry to much. In my eyes I would be glad it was found and can be monitored more closely. My friend had a baby on the 5th centile and was born weighing 5lb and she's now a super tall 5 year old with no issues whatsoever!

Xur · 29/02/2024 18:43

Thank you @Lillers @YellowZ @SC126 for the kind words 💜
I read up on low papp-a.
It’s a hormone produced by the placenta. So if it’s lower it means the placenta may not be working as good as it should. Nothing can increase this number, nothing I can eat or drink. You can manually force to increase the blood flow from the placenta by taking aspiring, there’s nothing that can make the hormone results better.
Low papp-a is not uncommon, but it is associated with low birth weight, miscarriage, still births, protein in urine and preeclampsia.
Apparently my data is what is considered a “gray area” for papp-a results.
As in its less than it should be, but it’s not what is considered dangerously low. Apparently dangerously low is 0,2 and lower.
Most pregnancies with low papp-a continue without issues.
My mom said I was small when I was born, so maybe she had it with me.
Im not sure what is my risk for preeclampsia because I have a naturally lower blood pressure…and it really rarely fluctuates. I’m the only person in my family that does not have chronic high blood pressure so I don’t know if this is going to be a thing.
