@msp2023 I think lethargic to me would be more that she's not alert, not moving, poor tone to her body etc, or sleeping all the time. Glad she perked up a bit and fed lots

DmcinT · 18/03/2024 16:56

Thanks @LavenderSweetPea and @A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 she seems to be fine but I’ve been so worried and annoyed at myself all day. I know it’s only 4 hrs the bottle can be used, I’ve had to dump bits here and there that’s not been drank, I think it was a mixture of tiredness and baby brain this morning 🙈

@msp2023 hope ur little one is still doing ok,up and about, bright & alert and feeding all sounds good ❤️

msp2023 · 18/03/2024 18:14

Thank you all! I love this thread - keeping me sane!
She's had a massive poo and plenty of wees today so I feel a bit more reassured.
Still quite lazy with the feeding but hopefully she's just having a few sleepy days and this picks up again! 😴

exileinsunshine · 19/03/2024 12:50

How are we all doing?

this is a baptism of fire! Loving it but bugger me I am knackered 😂

How often are your little ones popping? Had to bottle feed little girl and it’s every 3 days.

she is on co-lactase and Kendamil comfort drops as she is daily intolerant so need to break down the lactose in her milk and comfort drops as read good things to try and regulate tummy. She is only on day 3 of drops and weaning her on them so hopefully they help.

Cheetocat · 19/03/2024 13:26

@exileinsunshine wow, my little boy is EBF and he has poo in nearly every nappy!

msp2023 · 19/03/2024 13:44

I can't believe how different poos are!
We are BF with some formula top ups and usually get one massive poo a day, sometimes skips a day.

Hankthehonk · 19/03/2024 14:06

We're the same as @Cheetocat over here,EBF and the poop is never ending. Very unusual to have a nappy change without a poo haha

Cheetocat · 19/03/2024 14:52

So jealous of those getting one poo a day. 🤣 Yesterday we had a poonami and then he pooped again while being changed which needed another fresh nappy, then when buttoned up he did another poo. He's on antibiotics though which can mess with digestion.

DmcinT · 19/03/2024 15:14

We are EBF and poo in most nappies over here too, maybe one a day without

LavenderSweetPea · 19/03/2024 16:07

We're EBF as well, we were getting a poo nearly every feed. This has recently decreased to about 4 poos a day - apparently a decrease at around 6w is normal as their digestion if the milk becomes more efficient

undercoverhero74 · 19/03/2024 16:28

We are in the EBF camp and have a poo nearly every feed. I was starting to worry it was a bit much but seems it is absolutely normal.

msp2023 · 19/03/2024 16:45

Oh gosh now I'm wondering if we should be getting more poos! 😧

redxlondon · 19/03/2024 16:55

Is anyone using gripe water?

DmcinT · 19/03/2024 20:24

@redxlondon ive given it a few times on the dummy, have noticed maybe a slight difference but could be her muscle’s getting stronger too as she gets closer to 6 weeks, hard to know

CheeseAndCrackersx · 19/03/2024 21:20

Anyone else really struggling with congestion?
He's been nasally since last Monday, I give him a bath every night with the Johnson's vapour bath in it to try help a little for bed. We've done sitting in the bathroom for the steam from the shower, he has the snifflebabe nasal drop things - which he hates, essential kids vapour oil in the electric diffuser and I put a drop on his bedtime sleeping bag, cos I had 0 luck finding snifflebabe version.
And I feel nothings helping 🙈

I wasn’t sure if it was still recommended or not, I see Boots sell it but I’m sure I’ve heard people talk negatively about it. I might try it.

umbilical hernia appeared today, poor little man 😕

anony1111 · 19/03/2024 22:24

Is anyone else struggling to be able to put baby down in the day? As soon as I put him down he cries within 5 mins. I know we are in the fourth trimester and he's only 3 weeks but it's so difficult to get anything done. I do have a sling and do use that a lot but some things I just can't do with him on me.

I feel awful moaning 😢 but being on my own, I can't sit and cuddle every hour of the day, I wish I could!

Sunshineclouds11 · 19/03/2024 22:29

@redxlondon I dip her dummy in it aswell. Not sure if it helps either but I like to think so 😂

@CheeseAndCrackersx I put snufflebabe on the soles of my DS feet and it helped may be worth a try

@anony1111 if my DD is being like that I put her in the pram and rock to sleep and she seems to sleep abit longer

CheeseAndCrackersx · 19/03/2024 22:48

@Sunshineclouds11 is that ok at 5 weeks old? Do you mean the vapour rub or the oil? Xx

Sorry the rub.

Yes got advised by GP fine for feet and rub on inside of baby, it does leave an oil mark though

Sunshineclouds11 · 20/03/2024 00:56

Baby grow not the inside of your baby 🙃

Ebonythoughts · 20/03/2024 01:00

@redxlondon I’ve been using it for about 4 days but honestly couldn’t tell you if it’s made a difference.

We’re finally getting 4 hour blocks of sleep at night but then takes another 2 hours or so to get her back to sleep 😳 I think my body has adapted to the lack of sleep and 5 hours in total feels like such a blessing now lol

Anyone else growing out of things quicker than expected? My daughter is 5 weeks old and she’s already wearing 3-6 months baby grows with her long legs just about fits in her Moses basket. We bought a bedside bassinet thinking it would be more efficient since she’s in the room with us till 6 months as well as a Moses basket for when we’re in the living room during the day. She’s been refusing the bassinet the past week however so we’ve just been using the Moses basket and I think I’ll probably only get a few more weeks out of it before she outgrows it.

Our bedroom isn’t very spacious and I’m not sure a full size cot will fit in. Does anyone know where I can find a small/compact cot?

Also slight feeding dilemma! I’ve been wanting to reduce formula and increase my supply because it’s been low since the beginning. My ideal was to EBF but I’ve been really struggling to get my supply to keep up with the demands of a very hungry baby. Anyway the past week or so I’ve been religiously breastfeeding and keeping her on me so I can try and stimulate more supply and it seems to have worked! But here is the dilemma…since yesterday she’s been refusing the formula completely and only wanting breast and today I had to pop out for a house viewing and left her with my mum for an hour and she refused the formula bottle so I had to rush back. I seem to have enough supply to feed her but not enough to express so others can bottle feed so now I’m wondering if I made a mistake weaning off the formula because this means I can’t get support to feed her and do other things. Any advice??

Meeting · 20/03/2024 10:10

Has anyone been for their 6 week check yet? Just wondering what to expect

Mismatc · 20/03/2024 10:48

@Ebonythoughts With EBF they often refuse bottles (even of expressed breastmilk) and you cannot go far or for very long. I would currently need to take my baby everywhere I go. When my last two were 12 weeks or so I started being able to go out for a meal or a drink after they went down at 7-8pm and they would typically sleep until 1am but if they woke up I’d have to go home
