I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

Consultant check went well this morning!! BP is back down, still a little raised but below the danger threshold and all my bloods and urine tests are good. Baby has gone from 36th to 53rd percentile so luckily no worries about him either.
thrilled to be home and not in hospital (with DS I was already in hospital and quite ill by this stage!) - hopefully we can keep this up a bit longer!

wannabe123 · 02/05/2024 20:08

@Morningcoffeeaddict that's great news! I bet you feel relieved.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 02/05/2024 20:24

@wannabe123 - big relief! When BP was up on Tuesday I thought it was history repeating itself some I’m very happy to be at home for a bit longer. Still having weekly midwife checks going forward but every extra day on last time around is a bit of a celebration

Oatmilktea · 02/05/2024 21:26

@Morningcoffeeaddict so glad to hear you’re doing well! Such a relief for you.

I have been discharged from hospital and have been told one more bleed and I’ll be admitted until delivery. Unfortunately as I’ve had a few bleeds it’s likely only a matter of time until I have another. I dread to think that I may end up in hospital for weeks on end but just need to take each day as it comes and be grateful that each day at home is a day less in hospital

@Oatmilktea - glad you’re back home again now as well. Definitely with you on being grateful for each day at home and the various staff who saw us in clinic today were saying the same thing that we’ll be grateful for each day not in hospital.
Take care of yourself and I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

Amberellaella · 03/05/2024 07:03

@Oatmilktea and @Morningcoffeeaddict glad you’re both at home now - much more relaxing than the hospital! And fingers crossed for many more weeks until you have to go in again x

KM8 · 03/05/2024 11:28

Hi ladies!
Just wanting a some advice, I'm 30 weeks and have had the most horrendous sickness bug since yesterday (I can't even keep water down). I have phoned my midwife and have been told if I'm no better later to call back.

I'm just worrying about being sick so much and the effects on the baby!

justanotherlaura · 03/05/2024 15:09

@KM8 I'm no expert but there are ladies that have horrendous HG for months on end and their babies are fine! Try to rest and hope you're feeling better soon

Jess725 · 03/05/2024 20:22

@Oatmilktea @Morningcoffeeaddict
so glad you’re at home now ladies. I hope you can relax a little bit, much better than hospital ❤️

I had 30 week appointment today and I was sent to be tested for ICP (Intrahepatic Cholestasis) due to severe itching and a few other symptoms

anyone had any experience with this?
I’ve been so textbook up until now so fingers crossed tests come back fine ☺️

happy bank hol ladies! I have no plans 😂

Morningcoffeeaddict · 03/05/2024 20:36

@Jess725 - thank you! My SIL was tested for that in one of her pregnancies but it came back all clear I think so I’m afraid I can’t offer much help. Hope all is ok for you too!

@KM8 - also not an expert but I had a horrible sickness bug at about 15 weeks with my first pregnancy and my midwife was similarly relaxed about it but she was right and it was all fine ultimately. Kept trying with little sips of water (when I was awake) until I finally managed to keep some down. If you get to the point where you’re feeling dehydrated then you might need to go into hospital for an IV for a bit but hopefully you’ll manage to keep fluids down before that point!

I had another growth scan today, 31w + 1. I'm getting them every 3 weeks as DS was tiny. Growth has slowed, so that's not great. Dropped from 48th to 31st centile. The sonographer told me to contact my midwife to see if I needed to bring forward my next scheduled growth scan from 3 weeks to perhaps 2 weeks. So I sent my midwife a message but haven't heard back yet. I already have a consultant call and a midwife appointment for next week, so I'm just waiting for those now. We'll see what they say. The consultant did mention that in older mums like me (I'll be 45 before the birth) the risk of the placenta not working correctly in the later weeks is higher. I was really hoping this little one would stay middle of the road growth wise!

Sorry to hear this but if it makes you feel any better my son was on the 20-30th centile and was born 7lb15! This pregnancy my bub is on the 35th at the moment and no one seems concerned although I understand it's the drop that's of worry. Remember even the growth scans are not always accurate xxx

Hello,

Catching up on messages.

@Oatmilktea a 0230 dash to the hospital must have been very frightening - sending love.

On the monitor side of things we are opting for the owlet as it’s high recommended for premature babies. I do acknowledge it might be more data than one needs on baby but I’m a tad paranoid after so many miscarriages.

Hoping4amiracle · 04/05/2024 05:53

@Bluebonnet3 i know it’s scary but at 31 weeks and 30th percentile baby is still doing so well. It’s also an estimate, baby might be a little bigger.

Make sure that as well as growth they are looking at the baby’s blood flow through the umbilical artery and the Ductus Venosus, this is for reassurance that the placenta is still meeting the baby’s needs.

Hoping4amiracle · 04/05/2024 05:56

UPDATE

My baby boy was born at 28+1 weeks, he weighs 1lb 10oz. He is stable, and only using C-Papp (no ventilators). Doctors are happy with his condition but it is early days , we are in for a long journey in NICU. xx

Savvy21 · 04/05/2024 06:58

@Hoping4amiracle Congratulations on your little boy's arrival. Sending thoughts and prayers for a smooth NICU journey and keep us updated on how he is doing x

Morningcoffeeaddict · 04/05/2024 07:23

@Hoping4amiracle congratulations on the safe arrival of baby boy! Only being on cpap is brilliant - well done little one doing so well!

on the monitor with preemies, with my 28weeker I found we’d done so much monitoring of everything all the time in NICU that continuing all the tracking and monitoring at home (even tracking sleep cycles and feeds etc on the huckleberry app) was too much for me and made me feel like we were still in nicu. I felt better mentally going minimal tracking and going by intuition which the nurses all advised, otherwise I got a bit obsessed and overwhelmed. It’s preference as I also have friends who loved the owlet so just one to be conscious of I think for whether it’s actually making you feel better or worse.

Bali200 · 04/05/2024 07:32

@Hoping4amiracle congratulations on your little boy’s arrival, glad to hear he is doing well so far. I hope your journey in NICU stays smooth and hope you are doing well also 🩵

Wow congratulations @Hoping4amiracle I hope you're all ok!

@Hoping4amiracle
Congratulations on the arrival of your boy!! Hope you both are doing well.

Hi ladies,
Hope you're all doing well.. I'm 28 weeks tomorrow, can't believe it. The kicks are getting stronger and painful. So is the round ligament pain and pressure down there.
Don't even know what to expect regarding Braxton Hicks if and when it decides to show up!
I can't believe we're almost at the end.
I had my pregnancy photoshoot yesterday and it was lovely. But by the end of it I was huffing and puffing and had to just stop. Couldn't even bring myself to smile anymore. 😅

Morningcoffeeaddict · 06/05/2024 07:24

@ceruleansky - I’m with you on it all getting a bit uncomfortable now (29 weeks tomorrow). Midwife is hopefully referring me to physio as I’m either getting the start of PGP or little man keeps sitting on a nerve ending and trapping one of my hips so I can’t walk for a bit. Happened yesterday and I was doubled over just trying to walk to the fridge to get a yoghurt for DS!
Almost a relief when he’s behind the placenta now and it cushions the kicks for a bit!
This is the most pregnant I’ve been so not sure about Braxton Hicks but think I had one (is that even possible to get just one?) the other night. Was crawling around tidying up DS’s toys after he’d gone to bed and suddenly had tightening up both sides of my bump higher up than round ligament pain has been. Gave up on the tidying and had a sit down and it didn’t happen again but have been wondering if they’d what it was?
