Seems we got to the end of a thread. Not sure if a new one has been set up.

Any other second timers feel they are already pretty obviously showing?! I'm only 7+1 and feel like it's very obvious. Even if it's just bloating I look evidently pregnant 😬

tryforbabynumber2 · 10/03/2024 17:19

Should add I'm already wearing maternity leggings!!

tryforbabynumber2 · 10/03/2024 17:22

This was 5 weeks ago xx

WickWood · 10/03/2024 17:24

@tryforbabynumber2 Aww that's an adorable little bump!

tryforbabynumber2 · 10/03/2024 17:25

@WickWood thank you! I'm in disbelief to be honest that it's already so obvious at 7+1! Only planning to tell family at 10 weeks and work after that so think I need to wear lots of baggy jumpers until then! Xxx

spudnik1 · 10/03/2024 17:38

@tryforbabynumber2 I have been in full-on mat clothes for a week now . Was planning on letting it be general knowledge at work after my 12 week scan ( 2 weeks time) no idea how I am going to be able to hide it that long . I am massive . I did have split stomach muscles after last time, but that was 8 years ago !

tryforbabynumber2 · 10/03/2024 17:41

@spudnik1 my previous pregnancy was 7 years ago! I think I also had split stomach muscles but never saw anyone about it so maybe that plays into it? I've always felt that my stomach has kept some of the "roundness" around the navel area since pregnancy xxx

spudnik1 · 10/03/2024 18:17

@tryforbabynumber2 They gave me some exercises to do which did improve things and a compression bandage to wear. Am thinking of getting a waist trainer for afterwards to help hold things in place

CDD · 10/03/2024 18:29

@wickwood So we are due date twins unless our scans change things for us… I am counting cannot wait to see my little bambino and make sure everything is ok as I have finally decided to wait for my 12 week scan and not have a early one….

@tryforbabynumber2 I am so glad I am not alone with the early onset bloated/bump… I have got a 14 year age gap and didn’t have any issues with my muscles as I didn’t really have a bump with my DD as she was only 4lb 8oz and I had a c-section at 38 weeks due to having various issues… So I wasn’t expecting to show this early on but as they say every pregnancy is different..

mrssunshinexxx · 10/03/2024 19:42

Is anyone else going to be attempting a vbac2c or vbac?

WeightoftheWorld · 10/03/2024 20:23

How are you today @givemecoffeee ? I'm having a much better day today since I went to the max dose on my anti sickness medication yesterday, so definitely going to stay on this dose.

Does anyone else have this issue with the app where the tag feature only works for one tag per post?! It's so annoying.

I wanted to say my bump at 8 weeks looks like yours too! I can't wear any of my more fitted clothes or it's going to be visible immediately. Luckily most of my tops are quite long/loose etc but it's the trousers that's the issue. I wore my combats with the top button unfastened all day today for comfort Easter Blush

Regarding stomach muscle separation, that happens to everyone in pregnancy, it has to to make room for the womb. But obviously some people recover better from it than others afterwards. I saw a physio once who said you can always immediately tell from a woman's abs if they've had a full term pregnancy before because they will all have a small separation permanently which is normal up to a 2cm gap.

Trifficult · 10/03/2024 20:25

@mrssunshinexxx I'm planning on trying for vbac

CDD · 10/03/2024 21:25

@mrssunshinexxx @Trifficult
I am also planning on trying for a Vbac

Nervous764367 · 10/03/2024 21:50

@mrssunshinexxx i had a VBAC with my last baby (it was a homebirth actually) and am planning on the same again this time.

it was magical beyond words xx

mrssunshinexxx · 10/03/2024 21:57

@Trifficult @CDD @Nervous764367 I'm glad I'm not alone, this will be vba2c for me so expecting abit of push back from my consultant but I know the stats and risks and taking into consideration reasons for previous sections.

@WeightoftheWorld I have literally about 3 months ago closed my diastis recti with reformer Pilates and this was not a planned pregnancy so I'm sad as I was just getting muscle definition after about 4 years ( 2 b2b pregnancies ) hopefully this will motivate me get get back on it. planning to continue with pilates the whole way through

OneSunnyFox · 10/03/2024 22:10

Can I ask for the people planning a VBAC rather than another C, what’s pushed you this way?

I’m a first timer and some of my friends have had both and said they’d choose the C. So I’m interested to hear the other side!

Nervous764367 · 10/03/2024 23:25

I imagine if you’ve had a highly medicalised traumatic first birth that the calmness and control of an elective section might feel like the better/safer option.

I personally wanted to experience a physiological birth and I can honestly say, for me , it truly was the best experience of my life. I think of it daily still and get goose bumps. I’m in awe of what my body achieved and for me it really helped with birth trauma from previous births.

I think it’s very personal to the individual and there is no right or wrong answer. As long as someone is making an informed decision for what they think is best for them, I think that’s always the best choice. Xx

spudnik1 · 11/03/2024 06:15

I had an emcs last time.
Long labour- took 4 days to go from 4cm to 7cm never got past this point.
I developed high blood pressure at this point which they struggled to control.
Turns out he was back to hack and a 10lb baby !

I point blank asked the midwife which she would go for.
Given second babies are typically slightly larger ( not always) I have high blood pressure before pregnancy the chance of having a emcs is high if I went in to labour .

In the end the aim to is both come out the other end alive and well. So I am going for an elective section. Really trying not to think about it the recovery took me 6 months last time. But I had been labouring for a considerable amount of time beforehand so hopefully without that it will go more smoothly.

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2024 06:53

@OneSunnyFox if you and baby are healthy and well personally I don't see why you'd choose to have major abdominal surgery. It is also much better for baby to be born vaginally when they are squeezed through the birth canal it clears all the mucus from their lungs.
I've had 2 EMC and the recoveries were brutal. Made harder by no support and my husband works away so after 2 weeks pay leave I was alone. I managed but it was hard.
I am so so hoping I get my vaginal birth this time

Jacky86 · 11/03/2024 07:29

I had a horrendous labour, birth and recovery. Still traumatised ten years later. This was followed by two blissful c sections with very fast recovery. It’s definitely a personal thing.

JLT24 · 11/03/2024 09:11

I’m going to request a c section as I have a medical condition that would make a prolonged labour very difficult and could cause a relapse meaning I’d be unable to take care of myself or baby. I’m so nervous asking for it. There’s a lot of medical gaslighting around my condition and I’m dreading my appointment this week where I intend to bring it up.

Eiremogra · 11/03/2024 09:26

This is my first pregnancy and I have my first midwife appointment next week. I feel clueless as this is all very new to me. In terms of a preference for vaginal or CS birth..how much control do we have over that? I always thought CS births were out of necessity not preference?

OneSunnyFox · 11/03/2024 09:35

@Eiremogra you can dictate a C Section if you are adamant that’s what you want.

Thanks for the feedback, it’s really interesting to hear the other side of the conversation!

mrssunshinexxx · 11/03/2024 10:30

@Eiremogra these days it's maternal right for a c section but you will need two consultants to sign it off

Eiremogra · 11/03/2024 10:40

Thanks @mrssunshinexxx is there a medical criteria that needs to be met for CS? I need to do some research, I’m not even thinking that far ahead yet but if I’m asked my preference at my first midwife apt next week I want to be prepared x
