Did anyone in here have issues with on off spotting during first trimester? I'm 12+2.

Had my last scan at 10 and everything was fine (measuring a little behind coz little bean was super curled up).

But I've been spotting on and off, pink or sometimes little streaks of red in discharge.

Next scan is in a week.

WolfMother326 · 17/02/2024 07:15

Thanks for the new thread :)

We got our NIPT test results earlier this week and it was all low risk, such a huge relief. Now really looking forward to the dating scan which will be on 1 March at around 13 weeks.

We found out the sex (another boy). I feel really good about it as I love my son and also love this baby and am just so grateful to be having another child while turning 40 next month, but my husband was definitely disappointed as he's always wanted a daughter and this will be our last. He said of course he'll love the new baby no matter what but did seem a little let down. I know he's entitled to his feelings and I did feel that same way briefly when we found the sex of our DS1, but I wonder if maybe finding out so early isn't a good thing, as he hasn't seen the baby at dating scan etc or felt it kick, so not much chance for bonding yet. Anyway been kind of a roller coaster week of happy but also complicated feelings.

I also am just over 11 weeks and having random days of extreme nausea. It's been very hit or miss since 8 weeks so I guess I'm lucky, but yesterday was really rough. I hope it fully stops soon!

@WolfMother326
I read a study that said most men properly bond with their children only after they hold them in their arms for the first time. It’s to do with the way men’s brain is wired. Men’s psyche is not designed to benefit from compassion and love in others, but from egoistical choices that benefit them directly . Whereas women’s psyche is naturally gaining the sense of reward from helping others (such as kids and spouse). So psychologically he will bond with the baby after he holds it. Don’t be worried if now he is going through some motions regarding the gender. It’s normal for him. He is designed to be more selfish. :)

Hi! I’m new here!
Just wanted to say to the people struggling with morning sickness - don’t suffer in silence! Especially if you’re finding working hard. I’ve been prescribed cyclizine by my GP and it’s had a really good effect. There’s also other medications available as it’s not a one size fits all and what works for one won’t work for another.
You don’t have to be at the “spewing your guts up morning, noon and night not able to keep anything down” level of sickness to get help either. Mine was mostly nausea but I was finding it so unbearable that I called the GP and it’s really helped me. It’s not got rid of my symptoms completely but it takes the edge off and means I can get through the working day.

I picked the one with the fasted turnaround - 3 days. Also one within walking distance that offered the complete Harmony package, which is what I did with my daughter. I live in central London so am fortunate to have plenty of options. I booked it at 11am on Tuesday for 2pm that same day, results came back this afternoon.

Thank you, what was the name of the company you used?

I’m thinking of booking one for 11w so the results would hopefully be back for my NHS scan at 12w1d.

Emmaev · 17/02/2024 10:35

I’m 11+3 today and my sore boobs have been gone since 9 weeks. I’ve been getting terrible acid reflux though and popping rennies like no tomorrow

Im due on the 4th September although could all change with the 12 week scan. But a private scan dated babes for then. I did however have my daughter 6 weeks early due to pre eclampsia so I’m on aspirin this time. Hoping to make it to 37 weeks which would mean a mid August baby. But they come when they wanna come so who knows

longingtobe23 · 17/02/2024 11:07

I’ve nothing but extreme exhaustion, I am dreading back to work on Monday - I’ve had half term off! But I’ve spent most of it driving up and down the motorway and visiting family or asleep!
truly hoping this disappears by 12 weeks - only 3 to go…. 🥵

fleur89 · 17/02/2024 12:08

@Decaffe I went with London Private Ultrasound on Welbeck Street. They use the Doctor's Laboratory on Wimpole Street around the corner who have the fastest turnaround for blood test results - you deal directly with the lab and the nurses are so good at taking bloods. They emailed me my scan photos and report write up before I even left the building on the day and test results took 72 hours exactly x

MrsB2019x · 17/02/2024 13:13

Can’t believe how many boys we have already! I don’t think we have a confirmed girl yet do we?

MudandMoet · 17/02/2024 13:40

@WolfMother326 pleased that your NIPT results were low that must be such a big relief. Did you save much from having your son that you can use again?

@MrsB2019x not seen a girl confirmed on here yet, so far we're a very boy heavy team 💙

longingtobe23 · 17/02/2024 14:06

Interested to know those who have found out gender - was your Chinese gender predictor correct!
only a bit of fun haha - but I’ve always been intrigued!

WolfMother326 · 17/02/2024 14:55

@longingtobe23 no the Chinese gender predicted incorrectly haha

@MudandMoet thank you ♡ and yes, we can use everything again! Very helpful.

@Xur thank you, that's actually really comforting (and quite funnily accurate). With our first, he worried so much about becoming a parent but the moment he met our boy it was pure love and devotion. He's such a good dad.

hol92 · 17/02/2024 15:12

Measuring a few days behind what I thought but all good otherwise :) why can't we have a scan every week and for free haha

I can’t stand eating noises at the best of times, but my tolerance is at an all time low. My husband does try to eat quietly but he’s naturally a chomper, and I can usually breathe and cope but god it’s hard at the minute (especially seeing as I hate food right now 😂)

I’m currently upstairs, he is downstairs with the tv on really loud (also annoying) and I can HEAR HIM EATING. He clearly is not trying to keep it down because he logically thinks it can’t possibly be bothering me several rooms and a floor away, and I’m not going to be a huge bitch and complain at him now, but whyyyy has my sense of hearing become more acute? 😂

FirstTimeMum887 · 17/02/2024 16:30

@MrsB2019x @MudandMoet boy confirmed here too 💙

Martibum · 17/02/2024 16:40

Anyone struggling with headaches/pressure behind their eyes? I'm in bits. I got my eyes tested last week and they done a few other checks to make sure all was OK and it is. Panadol makes me puke. I had this on my first but normally water and dark room helped. Not sure if a twin pregnancy means feeling things twice as much :(

Emmaev · 17/02/2024 17:02

Congraulations on all the boys how fab!

Does anyone have any feelings about what they may have? My partner said he had a dream we had a girl, and I keep finding myself gravitating towards looking at girls clothes. I’m not bothered what we have as long as they’re healthy.

HRP1990 · 17/02/2024 17:10

@hol92 happy for you! I’ll happily campaign for 1 free scan a week 😂

@Emmaev I’m thinking boy as I feel different in this pregnancy than I did with my first (girl). Although I kept everything of hers, so a girl would make sense in that respect!

SC126 · 17/02/2024 17:23

@Emmaev im predicting boy because I already have one and I can only ever see myself as a boy mum. I wouldn't know what to do with a girl 🤣 however my 5 year old is the most loving boy so I'll be happy with that. Proper mummys boy.

ForeverHopeful67 · 17/02/2024 17:25

Marking my place in the new thread 😊

Thank you for all the kind messages on my scan pic!

@Xur in response to your question they will rescan if you're too early or if they can't get all the measurements they need! ( sometimes baby might not move from an awkward position) With my daughter I needed to be rescanned as they couldn't get her head measurements!

I have a feeling I'm having another girl... just as both my mum and her mum had two girls, and all the old wives tales, higher heart rate, morning sickness, Chinese calendar etc are suggesting girl too!

Lillers · 17/02/2024 18:01

@Martibum Currently lying down in a dark room as I type. I have been getting headaches, and they’re always bad on days when I’ve been more sick, so I think for me there is a correlation with hydration. I feel shocking though.

On the plus side, my heart absolutely just melted - my cat isn’t a huge cuddler (she’ll lie on my legs at 4am and that’s about it), but she just jumped up on the bed, pushed her way under the covers and curled up purring against my tummy! It was the most adorable feeling ❤️

Lillers · 17/02/2024 18:04

As far as predictions for the sex go, right from before I even knew I was pregnant I strongly felt this was a boy, but more recently I’ve felt like it might be a girl. I don’t mind what we have - I’m from a whole family of girls, and my sister has girls, while my husband is from a whole family of boys. I don’t really mind what we have - husband really wants a girl.

Martibum · 17/02/2024 18:20

My husband is convinced its girls. I have no idea at all, not even a hunch. We'll find out at a later scan so we can tell our daughter that's she's having new brothers/sisters. We didn't find out first time and the excitement on labor day finding out was lovely! This time it's just practical, I'm either washing all the clothes I saved or getting rid of the girl stuff!
On that, any good sibling books to prepare a child? She's 3.

MudandMoet · 17/02/2024 18:20

@FirstTimeMum887 ahhh another!! Wow amazing!!! 💙

You watch, I'll be the first girl on here (I wouldn't mind at all and I also seem to gravitate towards girl things too when looking online for things for some odd reason but my DH really wants a boy, like really really)

Bb542 · 17/02/2024 18:23

Lillers · 17/02/2024 07:07

@Bb542 I’m a teacher as well and have found it really hard being at work - I’ve already taken time off because I was just so tired and nauseous. When I have been in work, the ginger biscuits have helped, but I have also had a bag of mint imperials in my desk so I can suck on one of those during lessons, and that really helped with the nausea stage.

I’m now into the full on throwing up stage, which has been manageable this week because of half term, but I am worried about how that will work back at work, especially seeing as mine is hitting suddenly at random points in the day.

Oh I'm so sorry to hear you've been so unwell. Teaching is so hard when you've 30 (or more) children/teenagers relying on you and you can't actually leave the room. Is your classroom near a bathroom? Mine is at the other end of the corridor so I've got at least a 20 second run to the bathroom (that's after I find another teacher to watch my class). Will definitely buy some biscuits tomorrow to keep in my drawer. I've been off all week too on half term, so I'm very worried about going back on Monday. We'll get through it ❤️
