Checking in! I have reported the thread to ask MN change the title! 😊

Just at the hospital, I have met my consultant for the first time and she is very nice! Waiting for a second attempt to take my booking in bloods now.

Is anyone else on the higher dose of folic acid? I just realised Iv not been taking them right as was supposed to take the normal one on top of it 😅 praying it won’t have made any difference

Lillers · 16/02/2024 09:51

@Decaffe I hope it goes well at the hospital!

Yes all good thank you. Will be consultant led with a c-section agreed. Got my 12 week scan date, 12th March. 😊

tierneytarny · 16/02/2024 12:09

@Cat2022 I am on the higher dose. I’ve checked the leaflet that came with the tablets and it says “to prevent neural tube defects in a babies, where women are at risk of having an affected child: 5mg a day …throughout the first three months”. Provided you’ve been prescribed 5mg folic acid, you’ll be ok to take just that tablet.

Cat2022 · 16/02/2024 12:18

@tierneytarny okay perfect thank you I was only prescribed them at 8 weeks too but was taking the generic dose before that. I didn’t even get prescribed the higher one last time and everything was okay so fingers crossed.

I was also prescribed the iron that they said is a trial they are going for all women now but I haven’t been able to take those all the time as they upset my stomach. I have been craving a lot of red meat though so thinking I should try and take the tablets.

tierneytarny · 16/02/2024 12:21

@Cat2022 of gosh, I never do well with iron tablets. If you find you have issues with them, in my first pregnancy my midwife recommended spatone and that got my irons levels back to normal and didn’t give any nasty side effects

Caroline2023 · 16/02/2024 12:25

Thank you for setting up the new thread @MrsB2019x

Our NIPT came back today. All low risk!! So now ready to tell siblings and a select few others (our parents already know).

We opted against gender so that wasn’t in the report, but we may change our mind for the 20 week scan.
