@Khanga27 Ah fantastic! Congratulations! I have mine next Friday when I’ll be 11+5. How quickly did you get results? I’m going to Ultrasound Direct for mine.

Thank you!! This has been first time I’ve let myself feel properly excited about things.

Our test was with Ultrasound direct on Monday late afternoon, and we received today via email at 1.20pm. Happy with the turnaround time, and the scan beforehand the sonographer was so friendly and talked through everything so we felt at ease on the day too.

Sydney1988 · 16/02/2024 14:37

@Khanga27 I can imagine - a huge relief. Looking forward to that moment too, fingers crossed. Enjoy telling friends and family! I’ve been impressed with UD so far - had a couple of reassurance scans and the sonographers have been fab.

Bakerbean · 16/02/2024 15:00

@Khanga27 congratulations! That’s fantastic news 🤗🤗

MudandMoet · 16/02/2024 15:49

Congrats @Khanga27 lovely that you can get excited now 🥰

@Cat2022 Im supposed to have been on the higher rate folic acid but my MW is useless. I had my booking in appt at 6 weeks, I'm now 12 weeks and have finally got them today! I've rang and been to collect the prescription so many times but she's either off or said she's done it then hasn't. I've been taking 6 of the 400 ones and know that's nowhere near enough but wasn't happy taking 11/12 of them! I've tried to up foods with folic acid in too. Hope everything is okay in there due to the late stage of me getting these. Also I've got to take them throughout the whole pregnancy, have you? X

HolyMoly24 · 16/02/2024 15:54

I've been desperately waiting for a part 4, I accidentally 'hid' the last thread and couldn't figure out how to undo it. Been reading along by following the link in part 2 but it wouldn't let me post anything. Luckily you're a chopsy lot so I didn't have to wait too long!

I've had my booking in appointment which was nice. No mention of my weight at all and I wasn't weighed thank goodness. They also didn't do any blood tests or anything which I thought was odd.

Got my dating scan booked for the 15th March when I'll be 12+2. I have a big day out with my friends the following day so hoping it's good news and I'll be able to tell them all then. Glad I won't have to come up with an excuse for not drinking too!

Was sick for the first time yesterday, in the shower of all places. As a result I'm sporting burst blood vessels all around my eyes and my neck is covered in them. Lovely!

Kate543 · 16/02/2024 15:59

Had another scan today and they managed to get the nt measurement woohoo :) they are going to phone me with the screening results so I don’t have to wait to long and I’m feeling more chill about everything :) no more scans until 20 weeks now though!

Lillers · 16/02/2024 15:59

I think I’m starting to get a bit dehydrated - I’m trying really hard to drink enough but now I’m being sick more regularly I know I need even more. I’ve got a headache today that feels like a dehydration headache. Still weeing regularly so can’t be too bad I suppose.

Does anyone know a way of checking whether you’re dehydrated? I know how to check it for my cat but not for me 😂

californiacooper · 16/02/2024 16:12

It's me, (checking in), Hi, I'm the problem it's me

longingtobe23 · 16/02/2024 16:14

Had my scan this morning - all progressing and all looking well! Caught up on dates and still EDD 23rd September

“Discharged” so to speak from EPAU thank goodness I can go to the local ultrasound place now 15 mins as opposed to the 1hr car journey I had been doing

So relieved I can’t explain it - I don’t feel pregnant at all. So can’t believe there is even a little one in there…
I am telling people as I see them, but they’re all just guessing gender and saying “oh it’s a boy obviously”

does this piss if anybody else? 😅🤦🏼‍♀️ does it matter? And why do they always want to be right!?

Xur · 16/02/2024 16:15

@Khanga27 I’m happy for you regarding the good news!
@Lillers yeah the dehydration is a problem of mine aswell. Actually one of the best indicators is -the conditions of your lips, and the colour of your wee. If it’s very yellow and has a strong odour-you are dehydrated.
May I suggest you consume watermelon? It’s what I’ve been actively doing, watermelon is loaded with water. I’m actually in the process of having it now.

Lillers · 16/02/2024 16:20

@Xur Actually the lips one is a really good point - mine have been really dry and cracked pretty much from the start, so that probably is a bad sign. I’m not a fan of watermelon but might get some anyway and see if I can tolerate it enough to add it in as a snack.

@longingtobe23 I’m like you, I’ve just been letting people know as and when I’ve seen them, and you’re absolutely right - they’re all obsessed with not only wanting to guess the sex, but also with trying to get me to say what I’d prefer! Funnily enough, I’m not going to tell anyone that, because when I do know what it is I don’t want random people thinking I’m disappointed when I’m not.

fleur89 · 16/02/2024 16:26

Just received NIPT results back and all clear & a BOY 💙

I'm on all sorts of meds for high nk cells through my recurrent miscarriage clinic (private) and have already had 4 scans, the latest one being today at 10+3.

Waiting on the 12 week NT scan hurdle before telling close family and friends. That scan is 3 days before my daughter's 2nd birthday so we will reveal on her birthday (1 March) all being well. Start weaning off medication at 12 weeks too, looking forward to no more insomnia 🙏

Won't be announcing on social media, as per with my daughter. Having being through several miscarriages I understand how triggering that is and I'm friends with people who are struggling. Plus tbh I won't feel 100% safe until I have a healthy baby in my arms. Everyone is different though, it's a personal decision.

HRP1990 · 16/02/2024 17:00

Has anyone thought about if they’re going to share due dates? I know it’s all TBC at the moment until we have 12 week scans, but I remember last time all the “have you had the baby yet!? “Any sign!?” Questions!

Ideally it would be nice to enjoy the last few weeks without being pestered and also an uninterrupted newborn bubble for a little while 🥰 getting very ahead of myself here lol

Edited just to say.. I know it comes from a good place of course!

Decaffe · 16/02/2024 17:13

How does anyone choose which NIPT provider to go with? The choice seems overwhelming and the costs differ by quite a bit.

MudandMoet · 16/02/2024 17:30

@fleur89 we won't be announcing on socials either - well I'm not on FB, though I do have insta, we're very private people so it's just not us to do it that way. Another little boy added to the thread - amazing amazing amazing!!! 💙

@californiacooper 😂

@HRP1990 do you mean if the thread carries on right to the due dates and beyond, will we be keeping in touch etc? I'm happy to if everyone else is. Be nice to share stories when we have right from the very beginning right? Or do we not do this? I'm clueless!!

Lillers · 16/02/2024 17:34

@HRP1990 I’ll let people know it’s end of September/early October (estimated due date for me based on LMP is 26th September), but I won’t tell anyone the actual date except for maybe my mum.

HRP1990 · 16/02/2024 17:41

@MudandMoet I actually meant friends and family lol I’m happy to update female strangers on the internet if there are any labour signs obviously 😂

@Lillers that’s what I was thinking.. perhaps a mid September (13th based on LMP) and obviously whoever is having our daughter for us!

californiacooper · 16/02/2024 18:18

@MudandMoet I know the October group have a WhatsApp group chat going already!
Can someone share the fb group again!? I haven't joined since I almost left you all a few weeks ago xxx

fleur89 · 16/02/2024 19:05

@MudandMoet Ahhh thank you 💗 Yes we are similar and not particularly active on social media.

In terms of due date I'll tell close family and friends, the date itself is a bit meaningless as you rarely deliver on time. I was overdue with my daughter and induced, while my sister gave birth at 38 weeks just 3 weeks ago. It can go either way.

MrsB2019x · 16/02/2024 19:08

I’ll be happy sharing the due date with anyone who asks, I’ll be having an elective section so baby will probably be out at least a week before anyway 😂

Cat2022 · 16/02/2024 19:11

@HRP1990 I went absolutely insane last time as it was my first and I went a full 13 days overdue and every day from about a month before my due date had people asking me so this time they will get told we are due start of October to prevent it. My husband thinks I’m being ridiculous but it was his family mostly doing it and much harder to be blunt with the in laws.

fleur89 · 16/02/2024 19:13

Decaffe · 16/02/2024 17:13

How does anyone choose which NIPT provider to go with? The choice seems overwhelming and the costs differ by quite a bit.

I picked the one with the fasted turnaround - 3 days. Also one within walking distance that offered the complete Harmony package, which is what I did with my daughter. I live in central London so am fortunate to have plenty of options. I booked it at 11am on Tuesday for 2pm that same day, results came back this afternoon.

fleur89 · 16/02/2024 19:16

@Decaffe some offer a scan as part of the package and some don't - that drives a lot of the cost difference
