Also part of the breathless brigade @WolfMother326 Reminds me of when I had covid 🥴

@SC126 i got my scan date by email on the same day as my booking appointment. Not too long now and you should get yours

fleur89 · 18/02/2024 20:40

Yeah I'm breathless going up my stairs at home too 😂

I've my private 12 week scan at 11+6 in 8 days' time. I only told the nhs I'm pregnant on Friday after receiving my NIPT results due to past terrible experiences. After my miscarriages their system didn't flag problems and I kept getting hounded for not turning up to scans, it was so upsetting. So I really didn't want to let them know until I had greater confidence this one would stick. I've changed hospitals too as cannot face entering the same one that dealt (poorly) with my missed miscarriages.

I think sugar has the opposite effect on me. I ate a whole bag of haribo gummies (standard size) and it caused my nausea to become stronger. I’ve been nauseated all day today. Was trying really hard not to vomit in the tesco superstore on Isle 3 🥴

MrsM89 · 18/02/2024 22:00

Feeling like such an idiot tonight. Came away for the night to visit family and left my progesterone pessaries at home. 😭. Thankfully 111 have been amazing and hubby and sister have just driven a hour to an open pharmacy to get 2. I feel so guilty ruining everyone's night away.

But the fear of 2 missed doses would eat away at me.

X

Yes @WolfMother326 I could be having a normal conversation with someone and then feel winded halfway through. Also the stairs if I have to do it more than once in the morning.

I told everyone over the last few days, reactions have been great- funny too lots of shocked faces!

Khanga27 · 18/02/2024 22:32

Hey all, is anyone thinking about antenatal classes yet? We are debating between NCT and Happy Parents Happy Baby (we can’t do bump and baby club because we can’t make the first session for one best suited to our due date).

Xur · 18/02/2024 23:57

Have any of you ladies have ever had like a slight discomfort or pain around your belly button? I’m having a weird sensation, it’s like a light ache. It continued for about 3 minutes in like waves, specifically somewhere around belly button. Def not above, more like under. I read it’s common in second or third trimester to have it, but seems early. At 11 weeks to have this.

Kiwi23 · 19/02/2024 06:13

Anyone else feeling terrible this is my 4th baby and never felt like this and September seems so far away

HRP1990 · 19/02/2024 06:48

@Khanga27 I haven't thought about it yet, but it’s definitely something I’ll be doing! I still speak to the girls daily, and my daughter is almost 2. It was the best thing I ever did!

Lillers · 19/02/2024 06:50

@Kiwi23 I’ve been feeling terrible pretty much the whole time - I’m back to work today after a week off and literally sitting here trying not to be sick right now before I have to leave the house in 10 minutes 😔

If I had any paid sick leave remaining I would absolutely take this week off. I spent the weekend feeling grim. And I feel as if I’m in a limbo period now as it’s a fortnight til my next reassurance scan. Time seems to be moving very slowly.

That’s really good. Which provider did you get classes with last time and were the classes good?

HRP1990 · 19/02/2024 08:10

@Khanga27 it wasn’t a big name or anything, just an antenatal course run by midwives locally! It was a group of 5 of us over 4 weeks.. and it was free. It covered everything we needed and they offered a support group afterwards which we took the babies to regularly just to get out the house.

I know how lucky I was to find it at the time, having realised now how expensive these classes can be!

MrsB2019x · 19/02/2024 08:47

Has anyone else had bleeding after sex?

11+5 today and we had sex this morning (first time since being pregnant.. I know I know 🫣) and came down to a small amount of fresh red blood and orangey streaked CM (sorry for TMI!) Having some mild cramps too. Not sure if this is worth bothering EPU over as my dating scan is on Thursday?

WolfMother326 · 19/02/2024 08:50

@MrsB2019x I had this in my last pregnancy at 11 weeks. It's probably just your cervix being agitated. We found certain positions made it worse (me being on top it didn't happen), and just trying to take it gently. I knows it's freaky but happens to many people.

fleur89 · 19/02/2024 09:10

@MrsB2019x I personally would do a walk in a EPU for peace of mind but I have a challenging history. I'm sure everything will be fine and if you feel comfortable waiting and the bleeding / cramping stops then you could wait.

At my first scan around 7 weeks they noticed a pooling of blood in on top of my cervix and pulled me off aspirin, they told me I may bleed and not to worry. I never bled but you could have something similar and sex triggered it coming out. Another cause could be a sch, again usually not serous and the same symptoms.

MrsB2019x · 19/02/2024 09:39

I called EPU just for peace of mind, they said if the bleeding/cramps get worse I’ll need to go to my GP/midwife and they will refer but they are fully booked this week so wouldn’t be able to scan me soon anyway 😂 my dating scan is on Thursday so I’ll just wait it out. Thanks for the reassurance ladies x

@MrsB2019x I’ve read about cervical erosion, that can cause spotting after sex.
Or it can be to do with not enough lubrication so to say. (I’ve had that outside of pregnancy)
I’ve not had any spotting (knock on wood) and we’ve been having sex atleast once a week, but obviously being cautious in terms of positions, speed and force.

Bakerbean · 19/02/2024 11:09

We booked our place on our local Bump & Baby class today, for babies due end August - end September. It’s all slowly starting to feel more real! £185 for 5 classes and an extra social get together, seemed much more reasonable than the £299 for 4 NCT classes! 😳

Can anyone recommend a really great baby book for new parents? My OH and me would like to start reading some together, but there is SO much choice out there, it’s really overwhelming!

Fawklight · 19/02/2024 14:44

Guys don't know what to do.

My work place is very understaffed and we've tried to get a new person in. But it's looking like that isn't happening which means when I go on maternity leave there will only be 2 people who can do my job. We are very over stretched.

I really don't see how I can go on maternity leave, as I don't want to leave people stressed and over worked.

Catmumma2 · 19/02/2024 15:06

@Fawklight I work in HR and I would honestly give you the guidance that you and your maternity plans are the priority. Whilst it can sometimes seem impossible the business will adapt and survive in your absence. They should be looking to actively recruit an FTC cover with plenty of crossover with you to avoid any disruption. If they aren’t able or willing to do this it is their problem to sort not yours. If you need any guidance I am more than happy to support.

Xur · 19/02/2024 15:45

@Fawklight as a manager myself, I’ve had several pregnancies in my office and I tell you as a fact-the business will cope. It’s their duty to come up with a maternity cover and it’s really not your burden how do they plan to arrange this. Your job is just to provide them with a date when you’re going on maternity and once that day comes what happens in that office is not of your concern.

I cannot be any more serious about this, your maternity leave is literally a legal right that an “understaffed office” cannot take away from you.

Fawklight · 19/02/2024 15:52

@Catmumma2 that's the thing, they won't because they just don't think we need the cover. We are almost on our knees on breaking point and they are just like Nope.

I did consider talking to HR my self saying I don't feel able to have maternity leave at all even my legal required 2 weeks because of the stress and guilt I feel. I genuinely feel bad about continuing my pregnancy. Because of how stressed my colleagues are.

My manager is very very hands off and doesn't even know how to do my job.

Fawklight · 19/02/2024 15:53

@Xur it bearly functions when one of us a holiday. How is it going to function for 4 months.
