Hi, I've not posted yet but I'm nearly 11 weeks with horrible hyperemisis :( is anybody else going through this?

I also have a nearly 2 year old toddler and every single day is a struggle. I'm in and out of hospital and feel so guilty/tired/sick sick sick. Sorry to be a downer, just so hard to feel positive at the moment

Bakerbean · 15/02/2024 21:34

@TTCSoManyQuestions88 we’ve looked into the NIPT test but it’s £450 near us & that’s more than we feel comfortable spending at the moment. If our NHS screening comes back high risk we will be offered a free NIPT test, so we’re going to hold out until then. We are going to pay for a private scan at 16 weeks for finding out the gender though 🤞🏼🥰

Lillers · 15/02/2024 21:38

@Ploddingalong679 I’m sorry to hear you’ve been feeling so ill. I feel like mine is horrendous but not as bad as needing to go to the hospital or anything yet, thank goodness.

It does massively grind you down when you’re constantly feeling rough though. I am so fed up of just always feeling manky, sick and exhausted. I don’t have any other children to look after, but I feel horribly guilty that my husband is having to do absolutely everything round the house because to me, everything smells rotten.

I guess when you’re feeling guilty about your child, just remember you’re doing this for your family, and your little one won’t remember any of this when they’re older, but they will love the bones off their little brother or sister.

NorthernMammy · 15/02/2024 21:46

Thank you @Babno3 ❤️ not much at all, and none since 6pm now although I still feel a bit crampy. It's hard to know if that's just fear. I didn't have any with my first pregnancy and my daughter still feeds loads, we had to wean a bit to get pregnant but she's been trying lots since so I have got myself worried that's caused it. We'll see tomorrow!

Bakerbean · 15/02/2024 21:46

@MudandMoet 12 weeks!! Eeeek where has that time gone?! Wow 🤩🥰

@Cat2022 funnily enough that’s exactly what I went looking for online last night!

I hope I can embrace my body along the way. I do appreciate what it’s doing for me right now, I just find it difficult. I’m looking forward to buying a few maternity dresses and things to try and build my confidence, when the time feels right.

@NorthernMammy keep us posted, we’ll all
be thinking of you I’m sure. Fingers and toes and legs and arms crossed that it’s just old blood & nothing at all to worry about 🙏🏻

Babno3 · 15/02/2024 21:50

@NorthernMammy try not to worry too much about the cramping I had the worlds worst cramps last week, kept me awake and nothing would get rid of the pain so was convinced something was wrong but then it left so I think it’s so normal! Fingers crossed everything is ok 💗

MudandMoet · 15/02/2024 22:11

Thank you @40andhopeful @Bakerbean and @Xur I do feel slightly relieved but know I've got a long way to go yet so it's like a never ending worry still in reality.

I've got my 12 week scan next Thursday (will be 13 weeks) and I may feel better after that and then hopefully some not so scary results from whatever tests are to come around then 🤞🏼

@ForeverHopeful67 lovely pic, that middle finger is ace!

MrsB2019x · 15/02/2024 22:13

Ahhh wonderful news @ForeverHopeful67! Lovely that you get a bonus scan too 👌

@Ploddingalong679 So sorry to hear of what you’re going through, thankfully I don’t have any personal experience but I have looked after ladies admitted to hospital with HG and I think it’s one of the worst things you could go through. Take all the help you need, don’t push yourself and it will just be a blip for your toddler, just do what you can and that will be enough 🧡

MrsB2019x · 15/02/2024 22:14

We’re gonna have to start part 4 soon holy shit 😂

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 15/02/2024 22:19

@Bakerbean we had to pay about that amount too for the NIPT test. The catch is that termination is almost entirely banned where we live (British Overseas territory so you'd assume more progress but no) so we needed to know early if there is a potential for a big big problem which would need considering termination because we'd have to go abroad, could not afford to wait until the 20 week scan....horrible to think about, it was one of those times we were reminded we don't actually live in the UK anymore 😬

californiacooper · 15/02/2024 22:46

Is there an ideal time to have the NIPT test, or does it not matter? I definitely want to have as many screens and tests as (safely) possible. I haven't looked into where to go yet, is there any benefit to travelling to London to see a Pvt gynaecologist rather than a local clinic?

tierneytarny · 15/02/2024 23:52

Ladies, TMI but I’m suffering with awful constipation. Does anyone have any tips? Nothing seems be to working and I feel so ill with it.

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 16/02/2024 01:48

@tierneytarny LOTS of water (a lot more than you you're thirsty for), prunes or prune juice, also 2 kiwis, and as much veggies as you can have. You want to get on it because you don't want to get piles so early on. Good luck!

I found that when I eased my constipation, my nausea and bloating eased a bit too.

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 16/02/2024 01:52

@californiacooper you can have the NIPT from 10 weeks onwards. There's a few companies. I think Harmony was the brand I went with.

tierneytarny · 16/02/2024 05:39

@TTCSoManyQuestions88 Thanks so much. I’ll nip to Sainsbury’s on my way in to the office. Pregnancy is so glamorous!

rupertbear91 · 16/02/2024 06:09

Just catching up on posts @Ploddingalong679 I have horrendous sickness spent all day yesterday hooked up to fluids in EPU I hadn't realised how dehydrated I had become my blood pressure was dangerously low and they took 4 people to find a vein 😔 I only went in to be checked for a small bleed

HRP1990 · 16/02/2024 06:47

@MudandMoet omg I can’t believe how quickly the 12 week scans are coming around!! Mine feels make longer as I’ll be 12+6 too lol

@ForeverHopeful67 that's incredible haha

@VT6 another vote for bbhugme. It’s worth checking Facebook/vinted/ebay etc for a secondhand one as I’m pretty sure you can take the cover off and wash it. I’m going to get mine out the loft this weekend 😍

MrsB2019x · 16/02/2024 06:58

@rupertbear91 Hope you’re feeling a bit better after some fluids, that sounds awful 😥

Babno3 · 16/02/2024 07:45

@Ploddingalong679 oh I’m so so sorry hyperemesis is the absolute worst! My sister who is now 29 weeks has been off work since the start of her pregnancy. From 6 weeks she was sick to a different level around 20 times a day, lost 1 stone in weight and was in hospital several times, even after been given fluids there were still too many ketones to discharge her. So it is a rough journey. Only positive thing I can tell you is that they put her on a trial drug, not everyone gets it, only the worst cases but it changed everything for her, was able to go back to work etc and live a normal life! So hopefully you can mention this and they will give it to you! I’ll get the name of the medication xx

Sydney1988 · 16/02/2024 08:37

@HRP1990 Thanks for reminding me to check them out on Vinted - just got one for 80 incl postage! Still spenny - but I’m willing to invest as my sleep has been awful this past week and can only imagine it will get even worse! X

HRP1990 · 16/02/2024 08:46

You’re welcome @Sydney1988 It’s still a saving too! I buy everything for my little girl on vinted now, I think I’ll do the same with maternity wear too, especially as it doesn’t get worn for long.

I'm bowing out at this stage I'm afraid lovely ladies. There was no heartbeat and measured about two weeks behind. Good luck on your journeys and thanks for the support.

tierneytarny · 16/02/2024 10:28

@NorthernMammy I’m so sorry to hear this. Try to rest and recuperate. Look after and be kind to yourself.
