@Meeting congrats! I'm sorry it was traumatic for you.

I don't know how your feeding but I'm bottle feeding and been told today to get an extra bottle in through the day so she's not as hungry on a night.
I was feeding on depend and she would go 3 sometimes 4 hours in the day so been told to try every 2.45

Hawk901 · 13/02/2024 15:43

Hey ladies, my midwife messaged me today, I’m due tomorrow and have an appointment on Thursday, saying think about having a sweep. Did anyone else have one at 40+1? Just feel like it’s super early to be intervening x

Ebonythoughts · 13/02/2024 16:38

So I’ve had cramping since 4am this morning and lost my mucus plug with bloody show as well as loose stools… I really hope this means progress and it’s not another stop start 🙈🙈

Mummapenguin20 · 13/02/2024 16:45

Baby penguin was born at 747 saterday morning xx

congratulations all new mummas xxx

anony1111 · 13/02/2024 16:50

Congratulations to all the babies born in the last day or so 💕💙 hope all you mamas are doing well and enjoying your babies

@PeeBeee yes would be much better if you was over the cough. Either way this time next week you will have your little bundle of joy in your arms 🥰
@MrsW9 oh gosh, when are you due to go on mat leave?

@Ebonythoughts certainly sounds like things are moving in the right direction 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Sunshineclouds11 · 13/02/2024 16:52

@Hawk901 I was offered one at 39 weeks so seems pretty normal to me you've been offered one now.

@Ebonythoughts all sounds promising!

Congrats!
Hope your both well

Hawk901 · 13/02/2024 17:36

@Sunshineclouds11 did you accept it that early? Sorry I’m not sure if there was any reason they offered so early for you x

if you did accept, how did you find it? Did it do anything? X

Meeting · 13/02/2024 17:58

@Sunshineclouds11 thank you will definitely try that! I've been formula feeding every 3-4 hours too so will be good to see if this helps. Hoping at some stage to get into a set time schedule as at the minute have no routine x

I declined just due to don't really think they work! No reason other than she said they offer them at 39 weeks.

I did have two sweeps at hosp during induction, uncomfortable but nothing really painful for me.

I hope so 😅 she's been pretty greedy through the night so hoping it helps.

I don't think they work, either. They're useful for determining if labour is far away but that's all. Oh, and knowing how far down the head is. But they only start labour off if it was about to start anyway.

IMO obviously.

LavenderSweetPea · 13/02/2024 19:52

@TheShellBeach interesting that you also don't think sweeps do anything. That was my opinion so I was planning on declining if offered. Obviously given little one came early it didn't come up at the end of the day but I wonder why the NHS continue to offer sweeps when there's not much evidence of their effectiveness, given there is a risk of accidentally rupturing membranes and needing to do an induction because of it.

It's because so many women want to get their pregnancy over and the baby born.

You only have to read this thread to see the many methods the women on here tried in order to get themselves into labour. Sex. Pineapple. Bouncing on balls. Curry. More sex. Sex when it's frankly a struggle. Curry when you don't like curry. And so on.

When I was pregnant I too wanted to get it over with, but there isn't a way which rivals mother nature.

Induction of labour takes several days. When it works quickly, it's because (in my opinion) the woman was about to go into labour anyway.

When a woman has had a baby vaginally before, if you can break the waters the woman usually goes into labour. But not always. And then the woman needs an oxytocin drip, which often causes fetal distress.

Ach, you've probably guessed I'm not in favour of inductions.

CharXo · 13/02/2024 21:38

Anyone with a next to me crib struggling with baby sleeping in it? My boy seems so unsettled in it for some reason?! He seems to sleep so content everywhere else apart from in the next to me!

Allthatglittersisntart · 14/02/2024 07:52

40weeks . Painful pelvis afterwards made no difference presumably as she came 5 days later. Think I will stick with walking and bouncing next time.

MrsW9 · 14/02/2024 08:23

@anony1111 @PeeBeee Period-type pains back again this morning. Anyone else having this again?

PeeBeee · 14/02/2024 09:16

@MrsW9 yes! Woke up a few times last night with a sore throat (random!) and period like cramps but managed to keep going back over to sleep. Got up at 6.45 and it really bad period like cramps super low and really bad lower back ache that I had to go lie down and double over, started to think it could be the start of something but it’s gone again! Fed up now!

Angelslookingafterus · 14/02/2024 09:31

@CharXo
My last boy wouldn’t sleep in the next to me had to invest in a new mattress which worked wonders x

Angelslookingafterus · 14/02/2024 09:42

@Meeting not sure if it will help but when Noah was in neonatal nurses fed him every 3hrs even if he was sleeping, when I was leaving nurse said 2 to increase feeds through day don’t let him go over the 3hrs but let him sleep during night he will be 7 weeks on Friday & sleeping most nights 12-6 takes 6 bottles a day roughly 90ml hopefully all will settle soon x

anony1111 · 14/02/2024 09:49

@MrsW9 none for me but feeling very unwell with a cough/cold my whole body hurts 😫 I coughed so much through the night my bump is so sore this morning! I'm just feeling sorry for myself today 🤣

@PeeBeee how annoying that they keep coming and going. Maybe try go for a walk if you actually want to helps things move along? I know you have elcs booked so maybe it's a good thing they aren't progressing to more

PeeBeee · 14/02/2024 09:54

@anony1111 yeah i think its probably for the best now as I have a sore throat, cough and feel tired and just ‘off’ so best to get over this before baby arrives!

AllAboardTootToot · 14/02/2024 10:33

I could have written that very post @PeeBeee ! Rather they just come or go, not the in between!

walking and ball for me today, did spicy food yesterday and I’m sure I’m still trying to defeat the heartburn 😂
