@CharlieBalf That's good news that you've now got the reassurance that baby is growing in the right place - keeping fingers crossed for you that you get to see the heartbeat on Monday!

@Sunandsea13 @spudnik1 I'm glad I'm not the only one who is absolutely phoning it in at work this week! I've been alright up until this week but the only thing I can think about now is my scan on Friday. Doesn't help that I'm having dreams about it as well!

@ll1988 @cm3212 @Leonarda89 @JLT24 Welcome and congratulations to all of you!

@tryingforbaba My dreams haven't got weird yet (although they did last time I was pregnant) but they are very vivid and definitely reflective of what I'm thinking about when I'm awake, I've dreamt two nights in a row about going for my first scan.

@Sunandsea13 I haven't changed any products that I'm using - my understanding is that the only thing you really shouldn't use on your skin during pregnancy is retinol and I don't use any products with that in. If you're using any prescription products (e.g. medicated shampoos) you should check if they are safe for use in pregnancy but any normal shampoo, moisturiser etc. is fine to use, anything harmful wouldn't be in sufficient quantities to get to baby.

aussiegirl89 · 13/02/2024 09:50

I'm not having weird dreams as far as I can remember them but I'm really not sleeping well! Super tired in the evenings then bam! Awake at 1am with a start.

Today I have started craving beige food - had cheerios for dinner and the threw them up about 2 hours later. 🤣🙃

Has anyone had any weird pregnancy cravings so far?

ttcchapter2 · 13/02/2024 09:59

@aussiegirl89 had the weirdest craving for a prawn mayo sandwich which js odd cos I've only ever had it once in my life!

Also craving ice so got myself some Jubbly ice things 😂

But i wake up and feel nauseous but never actually been sick yet.. I think if I eat something I'll feel better but then I don't after eating so just in this constant state of feeling pretty awful 😂

Question for mums with 2 or more DC: We put an offer on a 3 bed cottage before we found out about #3 and if it works out (fingers crossed) two of ours will have to share. My DS will be 4 when baby comes and DD will be 18 months. What's the best situation? If its a boy should I put the baby and the 4 Yr old in together or the baby and the 18mnth?

I only really think it will be an issue if its a boy. We don't plan to find out as we didn't with our other two and honestly I live for that surprise right after the birth!

Anyone else planning on a surprise?

Bee49 · 13/02/2024 11:16

@CharlieBalf I’ve been told babies generally don’t wake the older one up but I think I’d probably keep baby in our room for a bit longer than 6 months in that situation. I’m not sure when they’re that young that it really matters the gender and sharing a room? I’d go for the two younger ones in a room together.
Just my opinion, sorry no experience! Mainly commenting to say yes, we’re also having a surprise. We did the same for our first. Seems to be more common to find out these days though.

polkadotpixie · 13/02/2024 12:03

@Ems1992 Your hamster dream is my recurring nightmare when I'm stressed🤣

CharlieBalf · 13/02/2024 12:25

@Bee49 I think we're leaning toward that exact situation, a year with us then in with the youngest.
Most people I know who are preg at the moment have opted to find out. That rush though when you first see baby! Can not match it 👌

Haggardly · 13/02/2024 12:31

Hi everyone 👋

I'm in very early days here at 11 dpo, have had progressively darker positive tests since 9 dpo. Period is due the day after valentine's day 💘 according to the NHS due date calculator, my due date if this bean sticks is 25th October!

californiacooper · 13/02/2024 13:48

@Sunandsea13 I'm using faith in nature shampoo and conditioner and body wash, Jason organic hand wash (it smells so lovely). I've removed a lot of my skincare products :( particularly tretinoin or anything retinol containing, and also hydroquinone, and glycolic acid serum 😭)
I have medic8 bakuchiol peptide serum at night, just a gentle foaming cleanser, vitamin C serum and a moisturiser in the day with SPF.
I am absolutely gutted I didn't get my hair done or top up my Botox before I took my first test!

CluelessInLondon · 13/02/2024 13:58

@CharlieBalf I will definitely be going for a surprise, if I get that far - I could probably be swayed to find out the sex if my husband wanted to, but he's adamant he doesn't want to know in advance.

@Haggardly Congratulations!

Blackberry95 · 13/02/2024 14:09

Hello little update from me, I had my EPAU 6 week scan this week and got to see my little bean and their heartbeat- huge relief after my ectopic experience though I still feel very worried about something going wrong!! Hope I get to feel more calm and excited soon x

Bee49 · 13/02/2024 14:10

@CharlieBalf my first was born under general anaesthetic so unfortunately didn’t have that magical moment. Hoping for it this time around though!
We have a little boy so of course it would be nice to have one of each. I’ll probably tell myself it’s another boy just to avoid any chance of disappointment!

nervousn3lly · 13/02/2024 15:15

I just rang my maternity ward as hadn't heard anything and was shocked to be told "yeah that's normal if u haven't heard anything by 10weeks contact us" that seems very late to me x

73pheonix · 13/02/2024 15:15

@Blackberry95 lovely news 🥰🥰

I have mine on Friday at 6+1 and I can’t focus on anything else!!

Blackberry95 · 13/02/2024 15:51

@73pheonix thank you, i was 6+1 when I went on Monday 💕 wishing you luck x

4LeafCloverBaby · 13/02/2024 16:02

@nervousn3lly mins is the same, I’m in West Sussex & I’m not allowed to chase until I’m 10+6! Lol

aussiegirl89 · 13/02/2024 18:36

Congratulations @Blackberry95 that is such a relief! I was the same after my last turned out to be ectopic and I'm still waiting for it all to go wrong. The anxiety is a real joy killer hey!

nervousn3lly · 13/02/2024 18:38

@4LeafCloverBaby it's crazy isn't it xx

JLT24 · 13/02/2024 19:49

Sunandsea13 · 13/02/2024 09:24

Is anyone else changing skincare, haircare, make-up etc? Don’t know what to use and what not. A lot of American sites basically ban everything, but read about the risk of using hairspray, so it is all a bit unclear.

I have switched to simple skincare as their website says it’s safe for pregnancy, but can’t see any make up sites that confirm this.

Shampoo and Conditioner also seems a bit difficult with lots of sites saying different things.

It’s all very confusing.

I’m not changing much yet but I stopped using my BHA/AHA face mask from when we were ttc. I also wouldn’t use retinol whilst pregnant but I haven’t used that for a while anyway. I’m using a vitamin c serum in the day and advanced might repair in the evening as I think both of these are fine?

I switched to a natural deodorant a few months ago.

I’m just looking to whether I need to stop having BIAB nails done which I get done every 3 weeks but the advice is not clear at all!

Vik27 · 13/02/2024 20:13

@Sunandsea13 I’ve stopped wearing perfume and use a natural deodorant. Same as what the others have said about no retinol, glycolic acid and salicylic acid. I use natural washing powder and conditioner but I was using this anyway before as my skin reacts to any harsh laundry products.

Lover0196 · 13/02/2024 20:30

Hello! New here :)
I am 27 and this is my first pregnancy.
I got my BFP on 04/02, clear blue test said 1-2 weeks, date of last period was 02/01/24 so I think I’m 6 weeks today? Is that right? have first midwife app 04/03 feels ages away!
only symptoms I’ve had so far is feeling tired and disliking food I normally like.
I also keep getting twinges in my tummy on the right side & sometimes the left, is anyone else experiencing this?
So anxious not knowing things are okay!

cm3212 · 13/02/2024 20:34

Hope everyone is ok ❤️

I did my first digital test today .. clearblue said 2-3 so as I expected will be 4-5weeks.

My local private scan place say to wait until 2 weeks after a positive test if you have irregular cycles (which I do). My first test was Thursday .. do you think the 23rd will be too soon? By the clearblue I reckon I would be around 5-6? Or should I wait a bit longer?

First time here and just want that reassurance everything is in the right place and as it should be. I do have an appointment tomorrow for beta hcg.

4LeafCloverBaby · 13/02/2024 20:50

@cm3212 wait for 6 weeks so you can see the heartbeat

Sunandsea13 · 13/02/2024 21:35

Can anyone reassure? Just nearly slipped twice in the kitchen and each time my stomach jolted. Is there any risk of problems? :(

4LeafCloverBaby · 13/02/2024 21:44

@Sunandsea13 You will be fine hun. Baby is only the size of a grain of rice & so tucked away. Don’t worry
