I no it was early to go but I had my reasons.

I've just had a scan at 6+2 saw the yolk sac and going back next week for a re scan.

I'm also on the google train after having a loss and I'm terrified of history repeating itself it's more of a rollercoaster of emotions this time than with my first and I agree I don't feel like I can get excited like I did before and I feel guilty about that too x

Fullofconfusion · 09/02/2024 14:57

Well I definitely feel pregnant now, I’ve felt nauseous for a week now but I was just on the phone to a customer and had to run to be sick! I partly blame the cold that I’ve got making me cough but I suspect it’s also to do with the little bean growing inside me.

I intend to tell my partner tonight. I think I’m probably 6 weeks now although not entirely sure as my periods were a bit all over the place and some had been super long. I have a little one from a previous relationship but this will be our first together and his first baby so super special for him.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

I had to tell my mum about the pregnancy becuase of having to go into hospital and I need her to look after the littlest, but other than that, I was not telling other family members until 12 weeks. I didn't make an announcement for #2, so apart from people I saw every day, no one in my wider circle knew.

We'll probably do the same tbh.... I've never been one for attention. Didn't have a baby shower for either of my 2. I think a part of that us having a rocky road to get pregnant has weighed heavily even after our little family grew to four.
Three losses, four round of fertility treatments and seven long years. Slight ptsd I expect from enduring seven years of other people's pregnancy and birth announcements. I still stay away form social media just in case.

Been feeling SO tired today. Also very fluey which I felt with #2 at an early stage too.

Anyone at the stage where they'll need three carseats? No idea what I'm going to do. I only just upgraded DD, can't afford to buy 3X slimline ones 🙁

Shootystealy · 09/02/2024 17:28

@SeaBridge thanks for the post! I posted on this thread a while back but have just been lurking since then as I'm so nervous about another chemical. I'm one day further along than I was last time. Im going to try follow your advice and control what I can 💛

Hoping I can jump on. Currently 4+6 and went for a transvaginal ultrasound today. Nothing could be seen so have been told to come back in a week. Got an early scan as I've previously had a mc at 6 weeks. Really worried it's going to be the same this time or ectopic. Don't know what to make of my hcg/progesterone levels either as on Monday hcg was 157 and today it was only 381 (assuming it was over 300 yesterday then I guess it's still doubled in 72 hours) progesterone went from 82 to 78. I have to go for bloods again on Monday but absolutely terrified as it's been a long journey and for the first time in 4 years I got a positive test again! X

@CluelessInLondon anxiety is really hard. I have good days and bad days. I have major scanxiety. I’ve actually reached back out the the counsellor that brought be back to life after losing my daughter to have some additional sessions to help me to manage my anxiety. I think it’s about understand it will never disappear but I can control it through different mediums and thinking today I am pregnant.

@nervousn3lly so beautiful, have as many scans at what ever time you need. What a lovely moment, and something to look towards next week.

@Fullofconfusion how did it go telling your partner?!?!?

@pm24 welcome! It sounds like to have really been though it the last few weeks not to mention the last few years! We’re a lovely bunch

Oct24 · 09/02/2024 23:42

@pm24 4+6 is super early for a scan. Try not to worry. I know easier said than done.

@CharlieBalf I know what you mean. I'm exactly the same when it comes to announcements and showers etc. it's all seems so over the top and I have no desire to participate lol. With my son, we told friends and close family but that was it. No Facebook announcements, no gender reveals and no shower. Our little boy was a miracle and I had zero desire to carry on and create a circus around my pregnancy. It just seemed so presumptive to assume I'd have a live baby at the end of it all. Even now I don't post photos of him online.

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 06:13

How soon is everyone getting a scan? Can’t decide to wait until 5w+3 or 8w😅

spudnik1 · 10/02/2024 06:26

I didn't have a baby shower with my last one, and don't want one for this. I am not a centre of attention person.. the complete opposite .

I have an early scan booked next Friday. I should be 7+3 . We didn't scan early last time just waited till 12 weeks, but we have a big holiday booked for August and the final payment date will be at 12weeks. It needs to be cancelled before to get money back. I haven't cancelled yet as I kept thinking if the worst happens .....

What I have done this week is buya pair of maternity legging Shock my work pants are getting a bit snug . Can still fasten them but by the end of the day I have undone the top button.

spudnik1 · 10/02/2024 06:28

I don't know what went wrong with that emoji it was supposed to be shock !

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 06:43

Also is anyone waking up really early? Every day I’m wide awake by 5-6am!

Shootystealy · 10/02/2024 07:17

@Sunandsea13 yes! And ravenous!

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 07:34

@Shootystealy same! I’m giving up and getting up now! Off to watch call the midwife and have a decaf latte! Also starving, obsessed with the idea of a Nando’s at 6am too 😂

Ellenn · 10/02/2024 07:40

@Sunandsea13 ive booked mine at 6+4 wks as I’m hoping will manage to get heartbeat then! You may not see heartbeat at only 5 wks so maybe wait a bit?

are you planning on doing more bloods? I sent my second lot off yesterday so really hoping will get result on Monday!

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 07:50

@Ellenn yes that’s what I’m thinking but we visit DH parents around that time and I’m struggling with nausea now so bit concerned they’d figure it out and would like to at least know everything is where it should be! Need to have a think 🤔

Yes I am redoing them on Monday too!

Ellenn · 10/02/2024 07:56

@Sunandsea13 nausea is the worst 🤢 seems to be worse for me in the afternoon but it’s not constant thankfully. Is yours at a particular time or all day?

you might see something that early but if your dates are slightly later might not see a lot! Suppose depends if you think it will worry you if you need another scan if not conclusive?

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 08:07

@Ellenn it seems to be early morning and then evening after 6/7pm. I’ve only vomited once but otherwise have had the impulse to be sick but nothing comes out (which is better then actual vomit I suppose!).

Yeah ideally I would wait until 6 weeks and then repeat at 8.5-9 but just can’t deal with having to go to DH parents and they figure it out without me knowing if everything is okay so a bit stuck really! Also concerned as I always have a drink when I’m with them and they often cook beef (pink) so I just think they’ll know!

4LeafCloverBaby · 10/02/2024 08:13

I’ve got my first scan tomorrow & I will be 6+4, really hoping to see the heartbeat 🤞🏼 I’m so excited!! ☺️

Ellenn · 10/02/2024 08:44

@Sunandsea13 sometimes I wish I was actually sick as maybe that would make me feel better than just nausea? Also can’t really drink coffee anymore which is sad 😢 but anything for a baby if it works this time!

could you maybe make an excuse you ate a dodgey Chinese or something the night before and your guts are a bit off or something? Then it covers you if you don’t want to eat the beef or aren’t feeling 100% for drinking alcohol?

Ellenn · 10/02/2024 08:45

@4LeafCloverBaby good luck for your scan!!! I hope it all goes well x

MegaManicMama · 10/02/2024 08:59

Lots of scans have taken place or about to, it's a very exciting but anxious time.
I had my early scan at EPU yesterday, I was 5+6, they confirmed this pregnancy is in right place and we saw the heartbeat - I was advised this is not always possible this early.
I was also been scanned super early at 4+3 and nothing was seen so this was a relief. Discharged from EPU now.

We won't be having a gender reveal or anything showy like that but fair play to those that do and enjoy that kind of thing. Not decided when to tell people, I'll see when feels right, it's such a personal thing and no right or wrong time.

I have been getting strong waves of nausea but no actual vomit, and the early morning insomnia is real for me too.

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 09:11

@Ellenn yeah that’s a good idea! I will try that!

Decided to cancel my scan and wait until I’m 7-8 weeks. Would rather that then worry for 2 weeks if it’s too early and they don’t see everything. At least at 7-8 you know they should see something if all well!

Not sure if call the midwife was a good idea now 😂😂

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 09:13

@MegaManicMama that’s wonderful news! Yeah we won’t do GR. We may do one with just us two (get a cake and cut it together) but just on our way. Or I am just thinking of leaving it a surprise!

MegaManicMama · 10/02/2024 09:35

Thank you @Sunandsea13 although I have had early scans and tests out of necessity and I was consultant led in my first pregnancy so had extra scans/monitoring then too, I do think all these scans cause extra anxiety..... For me anyway!

I am obviously thrilled with my outcome yesterday but also aware it can change at anytime so the relief is only temporary.

There is no way to escape the anxiety totally, I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. Wishing us all luck and happy and healthy pregnancies.

Sunandsea13 · 10/02/2024 09:40

@MegaManicMama yeah I totally see that! The whole thing is nerve wracking and so hard to not get excited and start planning things. Just praying for the best and taking things slowly!
