@californiacooper @Bakerbean thank you ladies that's really reassuring ๐Ÿฅฐ

It's so nice to come on here to chat everything through and for support!

@Fik88 that must have been awful for you! I'm so sorry that happened - it's one of my worst fears too ๐Ÿ˜” keeping everything crossed that all goes to plan for you this time!

Fawklight · 25/01/2024 22:38

@siobhanmt247 yes I have looked. There is nothing. No notes, no letters nothing. ๐Ÿคท

Fik88 · 25/01/2024 22:45

@ForeverHopeful67 Thank you, i have everything crossed that it goes to plan this time.
I think its nice to come on here and chat too, we haven't told anyone yet so only got my husband to talk to if i didn't come on here

HoneyandSunshine · 25/01/2024 23:08

Hey gang!! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ sorry, I find it hard keeping up with everyoneโ€™s usernames, I wish there were display pictures of something so I could differentiate everyone ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ but hope youโ€™re all ok!

I see a lot of NIPT talk; can I ask, why do you opt for these over/as well as the NHS ones? Not asking in a snobby way, more of a โ€œmaybe this is something I should look into too?โ€ Xx

@HoneyandSunshine theres definitely not a right or wrong as from percentages both sound high from an accuracy front. The below is from the NHS Nottingham website.

https://www.nuh.nhs.uk/frequently-asked-questions-faqs/#

What is the difference between the NHS screen and the NIPT screen?
The NHS screening programme offers a First Trimester (Combined Test) screen or Second Trimester screen. The First Trimester Screen comprises of a blood test to measure biochemical markers, the results of which are combined with the measurements from an antenatal scan to generate a screening chance for Downโ€™s, Edwardsโ€™ or Patauโ€™s Syndromes. The Second Trimester Screen comprises of a blood test to measure biochemical markers to generate a screening chance for Downโ€™s Syndrome. The First Trimester screening test has a detection rates of 86% for Downโ€™s Syndrome and 80% for Edwardsโ€™ and Patauโ€™s Syndromes. The Second Trimester Screen has a detection rate of 80%.
NIPT is a more accurate test as it analyses the DNA of your baby and has a detection rate of >99% for Downโ€™s Syndrome and Patauโ€™s Syndrome and >91% for Edwardโ€™s Syndrome.

Should I have NHS screening and NIPT screening?
It is not recommended to have both NHS and NIPT screening. The NIPT screening test is more accurate and may produce different results from the NHS screen, causing unnecessary concern.

Kate543 · 26/01/2024 01:35

The nipt was discussed at my booking in appointment today and although previously I was made to believe we would need to go private the midwife is going to campaign for us to get one on the nhs so fingers crossed๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

screening tests are an uneasy subject for me๐Ÿ˜… still determined to have a more definitive answer this pregnancy even though it doesnโ€™t change anything ( and we do love our daughters extra sparkle โœจ)

WolfMother326 · 26/01/2024 01:49

@MudandMoet I did the harmony version but it looks like that's no longer offered so I will do the safe one too.

Glad they offer it near you! Yeah you can wait to see if you get a high risk result after the 12 week scan and they may offer the NIPT (I think the person you spoke to is wrong, they usually offer it instead of amnio). I'd rather not wait and go through the stress for longer, but it is expensive so might be worth seeing what your result is?

WolfMother326 · 26/01/2024 01:55

@Kate543 it's good that they'll offer it to you โ™ก

californiacooper · 26/01/2024 06:00

Good morning everyone!
So. Anyone else NOT sleeping well at all? I think might be the most likely to be because of the general anxiety this week after finding out. Or. Is that a thing?? Insomnia??
Also... I've been putting it of my mind but I think I'm feeling increasingly nauseous, and everything smells gross. And my boobs are starting to be sore. So I did my last digital CB and got a 3+ this morning... I had my 2-3 5 days ago but that was the first day I tested. I feel like I might be able to mentally fully admit myself to this club soon.
I'm off to a 2 day work conference (which is normally very heavy on coffee all day and drinks all night) I think dry January is the excuse for now.

hol92 · 26/01/2024 06:37

When are or did everyone contact the GP about being pregnant? I'm not sure how many weeks to wait x

HolyMoly24 · 26/01/2024 06:51

@hol92 I told my GP just before I was 4 weeks but that was because I had a smear test booked in for the following day and wasn't sure if it could go ahead (it couldn't) probably would have waited until 5 or 6 weeks otherwise.

Although the NHS website says to notify them as soon as you know you're pregnant ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

Bakerbean · 26/01/2024 06:51

@californiacooper my sleep schedule is completely off. Iโ€™ve started needing to go to bed crazy early, any time from 8.30pm some days?! Then I find that I need to get up for a wee in the early hours, then struggle to get back to sleep. Last night was a bit later, bed at 10pm, awake at 3am for a wee, then properly awake by 6am. Feels like itโ€™s going to be a day of nausea over here today!

Bakerbean · 26/01/2024 06:53

Just saw this on my social media feed and Iโ€™m sure so many of you will relate?! Never have I experienced a month pass so painfully slowly than this month when I found out I was pregnant! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I rang as soon as I found out as I figured if something happened I would want to log it on my records

HRP1990 · 26/01/2024 06:57

@hol92 I havenโ€™t actually spoken to the GP. I had to self referred at my preferred hospital who then set up my booking in appointment which is with a midwife at my GP. But to an answer your question, I think I was 5 weeks and then waited about 5 days for appointments/scans etc to come through!

VT6 · 26/01/2024 07:28

@hol92 I did my self referral form when I found out. The appointment came through within a few days and itโ€™s scheduled for Monday ๐Ÿซฃ I canโ€™t believe Iโ€™ve actually made to it the booking in appointment (I didnโ€™t get this far last time)
the first time I phoned the doctor and they said they no longer do the booking in appointments and itโ€™s based at my local hospital.. if you are unsure ring the gp and they will advise you xx

Caroline2023 · 26/01/2024 08:23

@californiacooper yeah my sleep has been awful! For the last 3 days I keep waking up at 4am and then really struggling to get back to sleep! Great that you have 3+ CB now

Fawklight · 26/01/2024 08:36

Ive had more bleeding

siobhanmt247 · 26/01/2024 08:46

@Fawklight im sorry. Have you called epau?

Fawklight · 26/01/2024 08:52

@siobhanmt247 they won't see me. Just said some women bleed and won't see me.

Bakerbean · 26/01/2024 08:55

@Fawklight Iโ€™m so sorry it sounds like youโ€™re receiving such heartless care. I wish I knew who to suggest you could turn to be seen & heard properly. Is this both GP and EPU giving you such blunt answers?

Fawklight · 26/01/2024 08:57

@Bakerbean GP just said it's probably a miscarriage last time I went so I don't want to go back. Honestly I think I'm just going to cancel my pregnancy care because it seems everyone else has given up so why shouldn't I.

Bakerbean · 26/01/2024 09:01

Oh @Fawklight thatโ€™s so awful. Pease donโ€™t give up hope, youโ€™re not out yet. I know two friends who have bled and gone on to have healthy pregnancies. I just canโ€™t believe youโ€™re being left to โ€˜wait it outโ€™. Thatโ€™s agony.

Weโ€™re all here for you โค๏ธ

Xur · 26/01/2024 09:02

@Fawklight
NO! donโ€™t cancel anything, you pay hundreds of pounds monthly for national insurance! Are you just going to give them money without service provided?!
donโ€™t let that happen, please! You deserve to know! Itโ€™s your body! You deserve better! I swear I would be all up their front yard, and if that wouldnโ€™t work I would go higher up and be all up in their fronts yards!

RedFox24 · 26/01/2024 09:03

morning everyone! Just wondering what week everyone had a call back from the midwife to arrange the booking appointment and what week have you got it booked for?

I rang at 4/5 weeks and I was told Iโ€™d get a call back between 6-8 weeks. I called back at 7 weeks as I hadnโ€™t had a call back yet, and they said someone would call. Iโ€™m now 8 weeks and no call!

Just wondering if this is normal and I just need to be patient, or if I need to start nagging of the phone ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

any advice appreciated!
