@Nemo145 I'd say if you want to go, then go. It might be just what you need to have something to look forward to in the early days :)

Ebonythoughts · 09/01/2024 12:30

Aww many many congratulations!! I’m so happy for you! Hope you’re all doing well ❤️

Cheetocat · 09/01/2024 12:33

@FTMCHD Congratulations on your little girls!!

msp2023 · 09/01/2024 12:37

@FTMCHD congratulations, such lovely news!!

@Nemo145 I've put everything away into the drawers :) They won't get dusty or anything sitting in closed drawers for a week - I wanted the peace of mind of everything being ready to go!
I think the trip sounds like a good idea! Maybe see if you can book something with free cancellation/amendments so if closer to the time you can change it if you don't feel ready.

Anyone struggling with food? I feel guilty and as if I should be eating nutritious food but I just want all the bad stuff! I've been relatively good throughout my pregnancy but these last few weeks - I just want all the processed, crap food 🫣

Meeting · 09/01/2024 13:05

@FTMCHD congratulations! Such lovely news. Can't quite believe the first of our babies have started to arrive!

@Nemo145 I would love to have everything put away by now (I'm really quite obsessive about organisation) but my nursery furniture has been delayed a few times and still isn't here. Hopefully will arrive next week and I can get it all packed in

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/01/2024 11:55

To add, not all second babies!
But in my experience with friends and family no second baby has been late!

Please let this be true 🤣 I've had enough already and I'm the size of a whale 😂😂

Mangotango39 · 09/01/2024 13:28

@FTMCHD congrats how wonderful! Such a new year treat!!! Our first group babies!

I have my date now booked in for c section eeek . 3 weeks and 6 days to go and baby will be here!!
I am 100% confident in my decision to choose this over induction (because of being on insulin baby has to come around 38 weeks)
I have to be one of the first of day also as I can't fast for too long with GD so that's good to know.

Still have a scan next Tuesday to check in on growth so it's subject to change (forward) but they were already on the bigger size so hopefully they havnt shot up or anything out of the ordinary.

GD midwife and Dr have been very supportive .

will start harvesting colostrum next week and they have given me some syringes.

novamama · 09/01/2024 13:48

@FTMCHD such wonderful news, many congratulations!!

Hankthehonk · 09/01/2024 13:56

@FTMCHD wow congratulations, those are the first arrivals in the group right?! So happy your girls are here.

@Nemo145 I washed all baby clothes this past week and put them in drawers and cupboard. I loved doing it and it definitely makes everything feel more real!
Re your holiday - I would think in some ways taking a younger baby away for a short break might be easier than later when they're older. My friends just went away (also just a few nights in the UK) with their 2 year old and 9 week old and they said that the 2 yo was a handful but the baby was no bother!

CharXo · 09/01/2024 14:44

@Allthatglittersisntart im also “due”
valentines day but currently waiting for my section date which I’ve been told will be at some point in my 39th week. 3rd baby so very apprehensive about baby coming first as my second was born at 39weeks exactly!

@Nemo145 mine are also bagged up.. in size order! I still need to get some drawers sorted, just keep putting it off but I guess I need to pull my finger out really and sort it out

amyg1985 · 09/01/2024 14:53

Thanks for sharing @Mangotango39 - am still waiting to speak to my midwife/consultant about delivery options with GD since baby hasn't been measuring too big so far (75th percentile) and haven't needed the insulin quite yet.

Good to know that they were supportive of a section though, since I think that, if I can't have spontaneous and physiological labour, that will be my preference.

Cheetocat · 09/01/2024 14:56

We're off to ikea in the next couple of days to get storage for baby, my partner is working on finishing clearing out the spare room so we can put all of baby's stuff in there, we've been using it as a dressing room and probably will continue to until baby is ready to move in there but we'll have it painted with his stuff in there too. No idea what colour I want to paint it, I like bright pastel colours but I don't want it to be too stimulating either.

Allthatglittersisntart · 09/01/2024 11:48

I’m expecting close to 41 weeks(Valentine’s day💖) as a FTM(reading statistics in ‘Expecting better’) and due to every one of my Mum’s babies being late!
Why is everyone else posting here expecting early? Is it based on family history/previous?

That book has a good chart that shows the range of due dates you can expect … it’s quite wide! Definitely not a certainty it will be late for the first. I’m hoping I’m not early before my booked section but it’s on my mind that it could happen.

I went for Little Greene Acorn - it’s really relaxing, a pale green colour.

DmcinT · 09/01/2024 17:10

@FTMCHD huge congrats on ur baby girls, they were a great size. Please god you get them home now soon 🎀🩷🎀

I am the same with food, some days I’m ok but lots of days over the last week or 2 I just don’t feel like eating/cooking so pick at really unhealthy bits all evening🙈

the itch from my PUPPP condition has really taken off now too so I’m a bit of a misery, using cool towels and menthol moisturiser to try cool/calm it but my skin is just crawling 😫😵‍💫 2 more weeks until I’m in for stitch removal and please god that kicks things off

Shrillwaffle · 09/01/2024 17:50

@FTMCHD wowowowow!! 🤩 congratulations that’s amazing news 🥳 first group babies! I’m always checking for us all to start having our arrivals 🤗🤗

@Nemo145 so my sister in law gave me looaddddssss of clothes that were my nieces 🤯 so I’ve had no option but to sort them out 😅 I have two rails in a wardrobe so the first rail is first size/newborn/0-3 months and the second rail is all 3-6 months spring/summer clothing then I have in a bag 3-6 months colder wear clothing and a bag of 6-9 months I haven’t touched yet apart from a quick glance 😅 I have a drawer in the wardrobe too and bought a draw divider for socks, mits, booties, hats, accessories, bibs etc.

in my changing table drawers are nappies etc etc blankets and towels, crib/cot sheets, Muslin squares etc

A pale green sounds lovely!

xTinkerbell · 09/01/2024 18:22

@DmcinT I feel for you. I have PUPP with my first and it was awful. Keep your moisturiser in the fridge I found that helpful.

Had the midwife today who said there was nothing in my notes about my section date. She phoned up and they said there’s a provisional date in for me but the letter isn’t done yet so until it is it could change so I’m not sure whether to assume it will change or not. I’m 36 weeks today and just want to know now

@amyg1985 I think that's good they are not too big - shows you might have caught and got on top of GD soon.

they said my baby is pretty big all over so may just be that I make big babies or GD influence but head was 98th percentile jeez . I'm not huge bump wise?
Still barely any weight gain myself (3.5kg total)

I think if I wasn't on insulin it would have likely been around 39 weeks they briefly mentioned way back. I was half expecting a fight but it was fine and I didn't even need to over explain my reasonings.
you know what's right for you x

DmcinT · 09/01/2024 19:24

@xTinkerbell thanks for the tip, god its horrible, I hadn’t even heard of it before the last few days🙈 just wondering when u went into labour with ur first, I see it says if it’s really bad they will induce u early, did they offer u this?

that’s frustrating waiting on ur date, I’m the same with getting my stitch out, they can’t give me a day until late next week because it depends on how busy maternity is, I’d love to just know what day I’m going in😅

Ihatewinding · 09/01/2024 19:49

Congratulations @FTMCHD can't believe the babies have started arriving! It hadn't clicked the previous thread had finished and I thought was a bit quiet!

Just had my 36 week appt at 35+6 today, accelerated growth so just under 97th centile now so being referred to hospital for review. Had a GTT just before Xmas for glucose in my wee but that was negative and urine clear today so don't think GDM. Probably just from excessive weight gain from overindulging over Xmas tbh! We stayed with my parents and got absolutely spoilt as they are both fab cooks and I lazed around resting for most part😅

SPD/PGP flaring up so in 2 minds what will do if end up being offered induction. My plan was to commence what I'm calling "Operation Eviction" from 37 weeks as I'm really struggling with aches and pains. Have kicked my other half out of our bed so can have a huge pillow fort and got my gaviscon advance (this is way better as per PPs and worth the price tag), codeine and paracetamol in bed with me.

Nursery is basically done. This is our second so have done so many laundries sorting 0-6m clothes from loft, and washing pram bassinet and next-to-me bits, and bouncer covers that were stored in garage, etc. Thankfully all done with work after tomorrow and then onto batch cooking!

xTinkerbell · 09/01/2024 20:33

@DmcinT Not what you’ll want to hear but I had my first at 42 weeks exactly. Booked in for induction at 41&6 and went into labour the night before.

They wouldn’t induce me earlier even though I was crying in a midwife appointment at 40 weeks.

It’s true that it disappears instantly as soon as you have your baby though. I really feel for you such a difficult thing to have because it’s constant.

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/01/2024 20:47

@xTinkerbell when did you have your first?
I thought you weren't allowed to go over 41 weeks now?
My MW confirmed at my last app

DmcinT · 09/01/2024 21:26

@xTinkerbell oh god 🙉🙈🙊 well I am seriously hoping getting the stitch out in 2 weeks and the added pressure on my weakened cervix is enough to start labour but we will see 😅
u poor thing I can imagine u were scratched out by 42 weeks❤️ I’m surprised they didn’t induce you as a lot of things I’ve read have said they can do with bad PUPPP symptoms

another thing I’m wondering (and maybe it’s due to PUPPP) but is anyone else’s bump just constantly rock hard all day, sitting, standing etc.. doesn’t matter it’s just so tight and hard feeling🙈

MummyTo4BoysXXXX · 09/01/2024 21:57

@FTMCHD congratulations to you 😊

@Nemo145 I have still got to put our little girls clothes away aswell still in bags on top of her drawers and 🤦‍♀️ just have so much to do tbh I feel overwhelmed by it all especially when I'm running around after 4 boys too! just don't think theirs enough hours in 1 day 😂 also we have booked a holiday for the end of July when little one will be then 6months. If you want to go on holiday - go! At 10weeks your little one should be in an established routine by then so shouldn't be that bad I would of thought x

Kind of feeling bad/lazy reading all the posts about washing clothes from the shops though tbh something I have never thought about or considered? Is their anybody else who doesn't wash clothes from shops they have just bought? :/
