Someone on here recommended Gaviscon Advance and taking it exactly as recommended, and I bought some after I couldn't get to see my GP and it's miles better than the combination of normal Gaviscon, rennies and diet changes I was making before!
Not sure if it's the formula, or me taking it exactly as recommended, but I've gone from regularly throwing up/being unable to talk etc. with acid, sleeping propped upright on a pile of pillows to it being a bit of a nuisance but that's all!
I'd definitely recommend to anyone struggling who can't see the doctor (or while you're waiting to).

Meeting · 08/01/2024 08:18

Thanks all for the suggestions and sorry to hear some of you are suffering too! Will try out some of these over the next couple of days to see what works for me until I see the midwife. In my surgery she can pass on a message to the GP to call me and provide a prescription and that is usually easier than trying to get an appointment.

Has anyone else who had a cold recently really struggled with bump & rib aches?

I'm full to the brim with a cold & My stomach hurts like it did when I had glandular fever but my neck is fine so I don't think it's that again. So unsure if it's just cos of baby combined with the standard body aches.
I've had hardly any sleep cos I just can't settle

Mummapenguin20 · 08/01/2024 09:31

Just had my growth scan at nearly 33 weeks baby is measuring 4lb6oz ❤️ x

Ebonythoughts · 08/01/2024 11:06

Yes my ribs hurt during and after having a cold and I think it was a combination of all the coughing and sneezing as well as the bump growing and baby changing positions. Ribs and back still ache now and think will continue until baby arrives.

34+3 and god pregnancy has hit me like a ton of bricks all of sudden!

finishing work earlier then orginally planned next week as I just can't go longer. It's a real slog.

constant heartburn
baby wriggling actually hurts
exhausted
still trying to juggle GD!!!

last appointment they gave me some info on induction vs c section (due to insulin baby has to come around 38 weeks) and have made my mind to push for a c section tomorrow . Midwife was really supportive when I said it but a few hoops to jump through before it's 'signed off' where I am.

They can’t do you any harm(unless you try to do something OTT on them) . I love mine for bridges and squats and just sitting! Every-one else loves it too because they bouncier than the gym balls!

Allthatglittersisntart · 08/01/2024 12:06

Has any-one less not bought the essentials yet? Ive bought lots of non-essentials and a pram but can’t decide on crib/cot! It seems like such an important safety decision.
Thinking of Snuzpod. Does anyone recommend that?
Ive seen some of the other popular brands have negative reviews (if set up wrongly). I would like something that is hard to set up wrongly as Ive never so much as put together a table!

msp2023 · 08/01/2024 12:18

36+3 today eek!

Got the bedside crib set up, car seat into the car etc and hosp bags packed!
Can't stop thinking about labour now that I have everything else prepared... have entered the terrified stage 🫣

We bought the tutti bambini cozee bedside crib and it was simple to set up! I did it on my own in about 10 minutes. Seems sturdy enough and does what I'll need it to - zips open etc.
Happy with it so far but of course hasn't been used yet so never really know if baby will like it but here's hoping :)

DmcinT · 08/01/2024 13:59

@Allthatglittersisntart we have the babylo next to me crib, I set it up in a few mins, it was very easy. There are so many options, it would melt ur head.

im wondering what everyone is using for daytime naps in a sitting room/living room area in the first few months, is everyone getting a second crib for there? Or are people planning on using a pram bassinet? I have neither yet but think I’ll get the bassinet for our pram and use that.

on another wonderful pregnancy symptom I’ve developed PUPPP which is just delightful😵‍💫 has anyone else the same? (It’s a hot red itchy rash on bump and now boobs too, it develops around week 35)

I thought about the downstairs sleeping solution for so long!!

I ended up deciding on the purflo baby nest (when supervised / I'm not alone and at risk of falling asleep). Will use the pram bassinet if needs be otherwise.

I'll probably have a lot of help at home for the first month or so, hence not concerned about the purflo and falling asleep by accident, leaving baby unsupervised.

novamama · 08/01/2024 15:45

@Allthatglittersisntart I've inherited a SnuzPod, will just buy a new mattress. I wish I could share reviews but my friend told me the baby wouldn't sleep in it so they ended up co-sleeping.

For downstairs sleeping I'm planning to use the pram bassinet. Our place is small so wouldn't have space for more baby items

LavenderSweetPea · 08/01/2024 18:12

@Allthatglittersisntart I got a snuzpod. They're easy and cheap to pick up second hand. It's got a lot of pieces and bits to bolt together - it's very sturdy but a bit of a faff. I've never had a proper inspection of any other options tbh but the mattress is incredibly firm (seems proper uncomfortable to me) I wonder if baby will hate it ...

Havanalily1806 · 08/01/2024 18:26

We've gone for the tutti bambini cozee bedside crib for upstairs, and the little green sheep co Moses basket for downstairs.

It's our first but expecting her to sleep a lot at first so somewhere for downstairs was key for us. We also expect to use the Moses upstairs for the first few weeks as I think the bedside crib is quite big and a lot of friends babies didn't settle in them at night straight away and preferred the Moses.

SunzPod is okay when set up, but it’s worse than an IKEA flat pack. Absolute nightmare to put together, I’m fuming it’s a flat pack for the price. I counted up something like 75 pieces.

Allthatglittersisntart · 08/01/2024 18:46

That’s ridiculous!

anony1111 · 08/01/2024 19:14

@Allthatglittersisntart I have the Snuzpod, although I did buy it second hand and just bought a new mattress so didn't have to build it. Obviously not used it for baby yet but seems very sturdy and I like that you can remove the bassinet easily so could use it in other rooms if needed.

I think all mattresses for babies are firm as that's one of the safe sleeping guidelines.

AllAboardTootToot · 08/01/2024 19:43

Brilliant @Mummapenguin20 ! So good knowing everything is going well.

we had a growth scan today too, little one is measuring 4.5lbs.

Mangotango39 · 08/01/2024 19:46

Iv got the tutti too!! set it up the weekend and seems great!

we are a bungalow so just just rolling it out to the living in the day is our plan (that's we wanted one with wheels)

CharXo · 08/01/2024 19:49

Those of you that have had / are having growth scans.. how long did you have to wait for them? I was told the hospital would phone me today but they never did and I’m worried

Mummapenguin20 · 08/01/2024 19:52

Mine was booked in at my booking appointment x

Meeting · 08/01/2024 20:15

I'm another one who bought the tutti Bambini and it's reassuring that so many others have gone for the same! I was tempted to get a snuz but we travel a fair bit so I really wanted something that folds down and I could take with me.

Hankthehonk · 08/01/2024 20:18

This is our second baby so we've already got a cot (that converts to toddler bed, our daughter is 3.5 and recently moved her into a single bed) and next2me bedside crib.
We're Scottish so we'll use the baby box downstairs, it has a mattress. We used it a lot for our daughter it's great, and now hers is a toy box! So excited for the box to arrive in the next week or two.
We were given a sleepyhead (think they're now called dockatot) for our daughter and found it really handy, obviously never unsupervised and not overnight. We gave that one away to a friend but I think I'd like to get another, we used it a lot.

AllAboardTootToot · 08/01/2024 20:23

@Hankthehonk is baby box worth getting? I haven’t filled in our form yet as not sure we would use it? So didn’t want to waste it.

Hankthehonk · 08/01/2024 20:27

@AllAboardTootToot oh yes I think it's amazing that we get it. It's full of lovely and useful things, and as I mentioned even the box itself is great to have as a sleeping space and later toy storage.
I find it quite moving that every baby in Scotland gets the same start to life with the contents of the box, I think it's a fantastic policy.
