Hi Ladies, thank you for the advice, I called triage last night and went in, they checked the fluid and said there was some amniotic fluid there but it was small they weren’t concern. My contractions have got stronger but are still irregular so they just advised me to go home and wait it out a little. They wanted to examine me to check my cervix and dilation but I didn’t want it at this stage.

Definately appreciate the encouragement to go in, just for peace of mind, even though I’m always worried about wasting people’s time when midwives are under such immense pressure, thank you.

37 weeks tomorrow I can’t believe it, officially full term, thankfully no more worries about pre-term labour

msp2023 · 16/01/2024 12:16

Ladies - what are you planning to put baby in when coming home from the hospital?

I've packed vest, sleep suit, slightly thicker knitted cardigan with hood, and a standard hat. All of this with a standard knit blanket to cover legs in the car seat.

Just considering how cold it is, if this is enough! Mainly for the walk from the hosp to the car - considering a thicker knitted hat?

Also wondering if the cardigan is too thick to wear in the car seat:

First day of mat leave... I'm definitely overthinking everything now!

Hankthehonk · 16/01/2024 12:20

@babythreeincoming No wonder you have so many questions, could you ring your midwife and ask, certainly about when they'd want you booked in for a section?
My baby is currently also breech (34+4) and if he is still breech at 36w scan I'll be in the same position as you so I'm interested in whatever you can find out. Sorry I can't help though!

Sunshineclouds11 · 16/01/2024 12:45

@msp2023 I've packed the same thing for her to come home in.
Also a cardy more or less identical to that.

Will be fine for the walk from hosp to car.

amyg1985 · 16/01/2024 12:46

Pleased you went in and are being monitored @Ebonythoughts

msp2023 · 16/01/2024 13:42

@Sunshineclouds11 thank you :) put my mind at ease!

Cheetocat · 16/01/2024 13:43

@msp2023 For my little boy to come home in I've packed a long sleeve vest, tights (not interested in fiddly newborn socks), a babygrow, a knitted cardigan and hat made by MIL and a nice warm blanket. The weather is so unpredictable, I'll skip the blanket if it's a warm day. I'm only bringing newborn size to the hospital, he's measuring bang on average.

Musicalitymum · 16/01/2024 14:56

Don’t worry @CheeseAndCrackersx my baby was 4lb11 last Thursday and I’m 36 weeks today. I’m only 5 foot tall though and a geriatric mum at 42. I’d be worried if I was having a big baby. I’m being induced at 39 weeks if he doesn’t come before then x

novamama · 16/01/2024 15:33

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/01/2024 10:52

So had the growth scan. He's fully head down 😳
But he's only 5 pound 7, I feel rather gutted cos that feels small. I know 4 weeks left but I don't want him to start slipping now

@CheeseAndCrackersx just had mine too, and my baby is 5oz 15. But this is only after re measuring the HC, which was below <1% originally 😳. Now HC is 13% but I am not confident at all in that measurement so potentially my baby is even smaller. I feel you. Not sure what we can do about it 😓

anony1111 · 16/01/2024 16:03

@msp2023 I agree the ball sometimes causes more pain, especially in the hips for me! Your probably right the pain of labour will take over 🙈 I just keep telling myself, it will be all worth it when baby boy is in my arms 🥰

Has anyone got any recommendations for a carrier or sling suitable from new born please? There are so many options 🤯 and I didn't use one with my first but thinking it will be much easier for the school runs.

Clueless13 · 16/01/2024 16:23

@undercoverhero74 my baby was originally 8th early in my pregnancy but dropped below 3rd, I’ve been having regular scans every 2 weeks and he’s been bouncing between 3rd and 6th, so I wouldn’t worry too much (easier said than done) but if they’re really worried they will probably induce you to get baby out so you can feed and grow - hope that helps! xx

Sugarplumw · 16/01/2024 16:59

Thanks for everyone's concern, baby is moving normally now. I'm 36+3 and midwife told me today baby is 3/5 engaged. Anyone else in a similar position?

Sunshineclouds11 · 16/01/2024 18:01

I know people have spoke about swollen vaginas etc but omg!
I had a look today as I'm so sore! It's swollen, red, itchy! It's horrendous.

I've got MW tomorrow so will talk to her about it but wondered if there's any instant relief?!

LavenderSweetPea · 16/01/2024 18:04

@CheeseAndCrackersx growth scan went well, he's now 5lb11oz at 36+3 so very similar to yours. For us this meant a massive improvement as he's now at 20th percentile which is fantastic as previous was hovering close to 10th so I'm chuffed with that.

Less chuffed with his position though... head down but back to back.

Cheetocat · 16/01/2024 18:15

I had an obstetrician appointment today and got swabbed for Strep B, it was uncomfortable but only took two seconds. They did a quick scan and baby was doing some lovely breathing practice which the doctor was very pleased to see. He was breech at my previous appointment but he's got his little head down where it should be now.

amyg1985 · 16/01/2024 18:25

Aww, sounds like baby is getting ready @Cheetocat

Do you mind me asking how many weeks you are now and how many weeks you were at your last appointment? My baby was breech last week and trying to gauge their chances of turning before my next appointment next week.

Cheetocat · 16/01/2024 18:44

@amyg1985 I'm 35w3d. He was breach on a scan the 27th of December when I was 32w4d I think? I think he might have flipped last week in my 34th week, he was head down on my last scan on the 11th but we weren't sure if he'd stay put.

I did not feel him turning, he rolls a lot but I didn't notice a distinct flip. I did do child's pose a few times before sleeping and did some stretches and light bouncing on a yoga ball.

amyg1985 · 16/01/2024 18:50

Thanks @Cheetocat - I'm a bit further along but it gives me hope!

Callmemummynotmaaa · 16/01/2024 18:50

sling wise for newborn - I borrowed a close Caboo for Ds2 and loved it (so much that I bought one). I do transition up to a more structured sling after a few months, but I have little babies and it’s one of the few soft ring sling type set ups I felt secure in/could feed in!

Hankthehonk · 16/01/2024 18:53

@Callmemummynotmaaa I'm exactly the same I can't recommend the close caboo enough! I had one with my daughter but gave it away so just got another one secondhand. I have an ErgoBaby for when he's bigger, love that too

Shrillwaffle · 16/01/2024 19:16

@msp2023 i think I’ve totally overpacked 🤷🏻‍♀️😅 it’s pretty cold atm so I want a few different things. I do and sell embroidery for a living so she has personalised hats, blankets, baby grows and sleep suits I’ve made and I’m taking a pram suit and also a jacket as she may need both. I have socks too and mitts. I’m not sure which I’m gonna put her in yet I’m hoping I have enough variety of sizes 🙈

I keep joking at scans that what if she’s not a call because everything has her name on it and pink which is ‘Lena’ if we get surprised and she’s actually a boy we’ll have to call him ‘Lenny’ 😅 (they did say definite girl though)

what are you thinking of a home outfit?

Meeting · 16/01/2024 19:21

Thanks for the recommendation @Callmemummynotmaaa and @Hankthehonk I've bought virtually everything now except for a sling because I just couldn't choose one!

msp2023 · 16/01/2024 19:35

@Shrillwaffle awwww how sweet! Do share if you have social media / website to order from 😊

I stared at the hospital bag today overthinking it all and wondering if I should pack extra warm layers. It is absolutely freezing and if baby comes in the next week or so, I'm worried that the walk to the car will be too cold :(

I've just got standard vest, sleep suit, knit cardigan with hood (Borg lined) and a nice blanket.

I suppose I could just add an extra thick blanket just in case and then peel off layers in the car.

Kelb79 · 16/01/2024 19:40

Omg I’ve overthought the hospital bag to the extreme! My mum and OH have been laughing their socks off at me coz it took me about 4 hours (and still isn’t finished!) and I’ve got everything organised into marked zip lock bags and pretty much my whole newborn wardrobe as I just don’t know what to dress them in 🤣🤣
any advice on how many vests/babygrows etc to take and what I should take for them to sleep in if we have to stay overnight from somebody who’s done this before would be so appreciated!!!

@Sunshineclouds11 er yes!! It’s terrifying isn’t it?! I’d love to hear what your midwife says, im not seeing mine for another fortnight now x

Shrillwaffle · 16/01/2024 19:46

@msp2023 Yeah sure ☺️ I do custom things too if anyone is interested it’s www.mcbuttonclothing.com or mcbuttonclothing on Etsy I’m new on there.

sounds like that’s fine to me! Think I’ll probs do the same and de layer her in the car if needed. Depends how long this cold snap lasts, I feel really paranoid about keeping her temperature right all ready 😬 I’ve got a changing bag that has all like nappies and some ready made formula just incase things like that. Then a wheelie suitcase with all clothes blankets and stuff and another wheelie bag for mine and hubbys things is that too much? I don’t know! 🤯🤯🤯

what about you how many bags have you ladies got?
