Is anyone struggling to find the sheets which fit the bedside crib? The ones I look at always seem shorter in some way 🙈

Kelb79 · 16/01/2024 00:15

Ladies…. Is anyone else really swollen down below?? Is it normal?? I’m not itchy or anything but seriously puffed up 😳😳😳

Shrillwaffle · 16/01/2024 00:15

@Sugarplumw never think you’re being too paranoid, if your ever concerned always stay until you aren’t. They can always call the doctors down if need be, it’s better you going and leaving reassured than sat worrying xxxx

Cheetocat · 16/01/2024 00:19

I'm freaking out, I did some research on expressing colostrum and I decided to try out feeling where the ducts are and stuff and a little bead of colostrum came out immediately. I was only touching my boob for about 15 seconds but now I'm worried because I know breast stimulation can be associated with labour and I'm only 35w2d.

Cheetocat · 16/01/2024 00:20

@Kelb79 Shockingly it's normal with the extra blood flow and also the pressure from baby. It should go back to normal after healing from birth though!

amyg1985 · 16/01/2024 08:09

Yes, welcome to the GD club @CharXo

I had a late-ish diagnosis too and panicked. We don't need curve balls at this time do we?!

I'm diet controlled. Take a look at www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk which is really helpful. You'll get a good sense quickly of what you can and cannot eat without your blood sugar spiking but it's mainly common sense. Eggs are definitely your friend for breakfast!

Just shout if you have any questions. Important thing to remember is that the risk for baby is re: growth and it is, in the huge majority of cases, only for the duration of your pregnancy. You already have a section booked and have made it this far so it will all be ok.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/01/2024 08:40

36 weeks today 😮
Crazy!
Growth scan later 🩵

CharXo · 16/01/2024 08:44

Thank you @Cheetocat @Mangotango39 & @amyg1985 .. I’m also diet based as it’s such a late diagnosis and only 3 weeks + 2 until section! It’s a lot to get my head around but I guess I’ll get there! Looks like cucumber & carrot sticks will be my go to as there is so much on the “allowed” list that I don’t like 😂

@CheeseAndCrackersx i am also struggling for sheets! The measurements for mine seem to be different to others!

Mangotango39 · 16/01/2024 08:59

@CharXo I have a peanut butter smoothie for breakfast or Greek yogurt with low carb peanut granola/berries.

low love carb chicken or ham salad wraps for lunch.

dinners I can tolerate most things just smaller portion.

For snacks , low carb bars , berries, glass of milk, cheese strings, cheese and crackers

Meeting · 16/01/2024 09:10

@CheeseAndCrackersx Amazon has been the best place for me for sheets, they seem to have every shape and size!

Ladies who have suffered with PGP/SPD how are you coping as you get further along? Have you got any tips on how you're dealing with it for me please?
Up to last week I was coping ok with it but the last few days have been agonising for me 😫 I'm not sure if baby has moved further down or what but the pain has certainly got worse! I'm dreading going to bed on an evening and absolutely miserable through the day because of it now.

I use a pillow between my legs to sleep, using paracetamol, hot water bottle, doing my exercises physio have given me amongst other things but it's not helping now. Is this it until I give birth now 😔
I'm sorry to sound like an absolute moaning cow but I'm so fed up.

I've had it for a few months but the last few weeks have been awful!
It's excruciating to roll over and get out of bed (apparently I growl in my sleep 😂).
Doesn't help that my ribs hurt on each side after half an hour so there's a lot of rolling over involved!

I've tried the same as you and have just accepted that it is what it is 😩 Just a few weeks and hopefully it all goes away once our babies are born.

amyg1985 · 16/01/2024 09:54

You might find you can tolerate more than you think @CharXo - I struggle with flour based carbs but am generally ok with potatoes (which was a nice surprise). And as @Mangotango39 says, you can always just have smaller portions. Balancing out carbs with protein (meat/cheese/nuts) works really well and going for a walk immediately after meals is effective too.

Good luck!

LavenderSweetPea · 16/01/2024 10:07

@Cheetocat son't panic, I've been doing exactly the same from about 34 weeks - just trying expressing every now and again to see if anything actually happens 😂

I told the midwife at my last appointment and she said not to worry at all - the increased risk is low - if baby isn't ready to come then squeezing your boobs is very very unlikely to suddenly set off labour. She just said if I noticed I was getting braxton hicks during/immediately after it would be best to stop trying until 37 weeks

undercoverhero74 · 16/01/2024 10:20

Good morning ladies, so I have just been for my second growth scan and baby has dropped from the 9th percentile down to the 4th! The sonographer didn't seem too concerned and has booked me in for another scan in 2 weeks time but I can't help but worry.
Has anyone else had this? If so did it improve by 36 weeks? The heart and cord were functioning as normal so I'm hoping she is just a petite little thing but it's still a concern 🙁

babythreeincoming · 16/01/2024 10:25

Morning ladies!

I was in triage yesterday morning at 10.30am and got home in the evening. Went in with high blood pressure which calmed down then baby went a bit crazy on the CTG. Had a scan as midwife could hear a lot of "swooshing" and wanted to check everything.

Baby is measuring 7lb 5oz (38 weeks) and is extended breech with excess fluid. Waited to see the doctor afterwards who has booked me in for another scan next week at 36 weeks. I've been given the ECV leaflet and can either go for that if baby is still breech next week, book a section date or try a breech delivery (although the latter is probably a no given his position and size).

Has anyone got experience of this? Never had this with my first two! My first was 8lb 10oz (40+2 weeks) and second was 8lb 13oz (38+2 weeks).

If I was to go ahead with a planned section, when would they roughly booked this in? Will they wait until 40 weeks given his estimated size?

Hope you're all ok xx

mummylove24 · 16/01/2024 10:37

Hi ladies, hope you’re all doing well 💙💖
So my home blood pressure is averaging over 140/90 for the last 2 days, I called my midwife and she told me to continue monitoring morning and evening only. Strange thing I feel absolutely fine, just “normal” fatigue, aches and 3rd trimester symptoms. They mentioned if I have bad headaches swelling or vision problems to go to the DAU.
Has anyone else blood pressure increased at this stage?

babythreeincoming · 16/01/2024 10:40

@mummylove24 Mine was just below that and that's why I was in yesterday! They wanted to see me but baby was moving a bit less so probably that encouraged them to see me more. If you feel like you need to be seen, I'd give them a call. No harm in being checked over and hearing baby 🥰

mummylove24 · 16/01/2024 10:40

@babythreeincoming ha I just posted about this now about my blood pressure, I’m 34 weeks though x

@babythreeincoming Oooh that’s why you went, my baby is moving as usual. The midwife did say if I feel like I should go in, to go, I think I will actually. Just cos I feel OK but still it’s always worth them checking bubba x

anony1111 · 16/01/2024 10:50

@msp2023 sorry your struggling with it too 😫 honestly being in bed is awful isn't it?! Growling 😂😂 that's funny but not at the same time as obviously your in pain.
Looks like we have a long few weeks ahead of us 😔

How are you feeling about labour and coping with the pelvic pain? I'm quite worried and anxious about it now the pains have got worse 🙈
I pray it disappears for us both once baby has arrived, it's exhausting!

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/01/2024 10:52

So had the growth scan. He's fully head down 😳
But he's only 5 pound 7, I feel rather gutted cos that feels small. I know 4 weeks left but I don't want him to start slipping now

Thanks you, it's so easy to worry about everything pregnancy related when it's all brand new. I'd feel so guilty if I caused baby to come early and he wasn't ready. I'm really fascinated by colostrum and milk production though, our bodies are amazing!!

I don't think I've had any kind of braxton hicks or contractions yet in this pregnancy, it's crazy how we're all so different too!

LavenderSweetPea · 16/01/2024 11:27

@CheeseAndCrackersx that's still a cracking weight for 36w :) did they book you in for another scan or is that it now? I'm 36+3 and got my growth scan today. I feel like mine has been behind yours at our other scans but I'll let you know what my estimate is.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/01/2024 11:42

@LavenderSweetPea they said I'll have another at 39 weeks. But I guess I'll see if he arrives before then 😄 I'd rather see him than a scan at that point x

msp2023 · 16/01/2024 11:47

@anony1111
Ahhh I haven't even connected the pain with labour - it's my first baby so I think I won't even know any different! I'll just think it's all labour pain 😅

I just try not to worry about it too much - sometimes I feel like using my birthing ball during the day makes it worse at night! So no idea what else I could possibly do.

It will soon be a distant memory!
