I started bleeding on Saturday night which lightly continued up to now not heavy like a period. This morning I had about an hour of the most intense contractions identical to labour. I have a scan on Wednesday. I was 6 week. What will happen on Wednesday, is it an internal scan?

I’m sorry for your loss, I’m in the same position with a scan on Wednesday and I expect to be told I’ve lost aswell.

This time round I’m asking them to do a transvaginal scan first as they usually do an ultrasound (find nothing on it) and then verify that with a TV scan … feels unnecessary. They usually give you a bit of time to dress and compose yourself before you go to a room and they ask you some questions, explain next steps … the nurses have always been kind x

Mrs777 · 04/12/2023 19:49

I hope your situation is better than mine 💓 what are the next steps if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just devastated can’t believe this is how it’s turned out.

I don’t want to give you false hope but if the bleeding is light then there is always a chance so wait and see what the scan brings.

I had a little bleed at 4 weeks but it stopped and only lasted a day - no cramps but no real symptoms and after 2 previous mmc’s I'm convinced this is a third.

If it is a miscarriage then at 6 weeks I’ve always just been told to ‘let nature take its course’ … all my losses (5) have been early so I’ve never had to have medical management thankfully. Hopefully that’s the same for you if you have lost.
Beyond that the NHS won’t run any tests until you have had three confirmed miscarriages which sucks.

if this is your first loss then please know that the chances of you suffering from recurrent loss is low (statistically speaking I think its like 1%) so there is a real chance you will be ok next time xx

Mrs777 · 04/12/2023 20:55

Thank you. I suspect the 1 hour of intense pain leads to a miscarriage as it felt like proper contractions, I’ve only had 1 pad on all day so my bleeding isn’t too bad, see what happens Wednesday. I’m so sorry for all your losses I can’t imagine how terrible that was for you. Xx

I also don't want to get hopes but I had 3 bleeds before 6.5 weeks. I also had bad cramps with the first bleed. I had subchronionic hematoma. Good luck with your scan x

LittleDoveLove · 04/12/2023 21:51

Meant to add I am now 23 weeks pregnant x

Mrs777 · 05/12/2023 07:56

congrats on being 23 weeks that’s lovely, I’m not hopeful although I wish it was going to be ok, I’m still cramping like a period. See what happens tomorrow.

How did it go?

OP posts:
Hoping4amiracle · 06/12/2023 14:13

How did you get on @Mrs777 ?

it was positive, there was a baby with dates bang on and we saw a heartbeat. First time in five pregnancies that we have seen a heartbeat so it was emotional.

Feeling anxious already about the next scan in a couple of weeks xx

Mrs777 · 06/12/2023 14:25

That’s wonderful congrats!!

Mine wasn’t good news, confirmed a miscarriage.

I’m so sorry @Mrs777 , I’ve been there and know how much it hurts.

I don’t think mentally you ever really forget, you will always wonder ‘what if’ but you will manage that hurt better with time. Find comfort where you can luv xx

Tokoro · 08/12/2023 10:36

How many weeks were you at the scan. My daughter has a scan on Wednesday. She had one last week at 6weeks (ivf so dates certain) no fetal pole or heartbeat. There was gestational sac and yolk. We aren’t hopeful the fetal pole and heartbeat will be detected on Wednesday. This will mean the end of this pregnancy. It’s heartbreaking.

Hoping4amiracle · 08/12/2023 10:59

Hi @Tokoro so sorry your daughter is going through this pain but I’m also sorry for your pain also.

I know my mum has cried every tear with me and feels utterly helpless watching me hurt so much. I don’t think I’d have the strength to keep trying without her.

Thinking of you both xx

Tokoro · 08/12/2023 11:09

Thank you. It is hard. I feel what she feels. I want this so much for her. I mean by a miracle it could be there on Wednesday but it’s not hopeful. So hard. Lovely you’re pregnant xxxx

Hoping4amiracle · 08/12/2023 11:28

Thank you, it’s still a fragile position but it’s a hurdle we have never got over before.

Miracles do happen so never completely give up hope but take your queue from your daughter as I know for me it’s easier to prepare mentally for bad news. I’m a cautious person Xx

Mrs777 · 11/12/2023 14:09

Sorry to hear this, hopefully you get a positive scan on Wednesday, I was 6 weeks at the scan and miscarriage was taking place.

She had a bleed on Saturday so had a scan on Sunday morning and there was heartbeat and sac had grown. This is very confusing. Another scan on Wednesday.

Tokoro · 11/12/2023 15:07

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so bloody not fair. I am prepared for the worst with my daughter but hoping for the best.

Hoping4amiracle · 11/12/2023 15:11

Hey, a heartbeat is definitely a positive @Tokoro . Did they give any steer where the bleeding might be coming from? Did they offer cyclogest as I think there is evidence that women who have suffered multiple miscarriages and present bleeding in early pregnancy should be offered cyclogest. X

Tokoro · 11/12/2023 15:22

It’s her first pregnancy. IVF. This scan wasn’t with her clinic as they’re seeing her on Wednesday. When she rang them to tell them she had a bleed (it was a huge one) they told her to go to EPU if it continued but it didn’t and then she just went for private scan. Her sac was only 9’m. It was 4mm on Wednesday so it has grown and there defo was a flicker but it’s much smaller sac than others who are at like 20mm.

Tokoro · 15/12/2023 18:15

Her scan on Wednesday showed a 6 week pregnancy (she 6 week 6 day ivf so exact). 116 Heartbeat. Bleeding was fine as could see it was hematoma nothing to do with baby. Said 50:50 as measuring 6 days behind and so it’s a wait and see. She wasn’t bleeding a lot.

Hoping4amiracle · 15/12/2023 22:39

Oh wow, so the pregnancy has developed and there’s a little one in there fighting away! That’s fantastic news and I know you have to be cautiously optimistic but if it’s one thing I’ve learned it’s to take the small wins when they come !

When is her next scan? Xx

Tokoro · 16/12/2023 02:05

She is having one on Thursday at another scanning place . However not until Jan 2 at her fertility clinic. They said give it 3 weeks but she booked another as too long for her to wait not knowing. I believe they think she will either miscarry before Jan 2 or there will be a big improvement. She just wants to see if there is any growth/increase in heart rate. So Thursday should give us more answers. It is a worry it’s 6 days behind with ivf. From what I read on here most lose the baby by 12 weeks when measuring behind with ivf.

Tokoro · 21/12/2023 19:14

Update. Baby is measuring 7 weeks 1 day and she is 8 weeks. Heart rate 152. Whooo hooo hooo.
