Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

When is everyone's next midwife appointment?

Hotmalibu94 · 28/02/2024 16:12

@Suchardchoccy next Monday at 25 weeks 😊 it's my first baby.

DemelzaRobins · 28/02/2024 20:03

Mine is in a week and a half (28 weeks). Got to start thinking about the birth!

When I saw the midwife for my 25 week appointment last week the baby kicked the doppler when she tried to listen to his heartbeat.

Suchardchoccy · 28/02/2024 22:06

😍 amazing!!

I know you get a 25 week appointment when it's your first baby but my midwife has offered me one at 25 weeks even tho it's my third 🤔 it seems the home birth team are quite flexible

cosylife · 29/02/2024 06:00

I’m 26+5 and got my c section date yesterday! Sooo odd knowing your child’s birthday before they’re born 😂 I had a 25 week appointment and I’m having my 2nd but I’m consultant led so that might be why?

Hope everyone is feeling okay!

oop · 29/02/2024 07:08

I also had a 25 week appointment for my second and I'm low risk midwife led so no idea why. But not complaining 😃
My 28 week appointment is next week.

I went in for reduced movements last weekend (this damn placenta) but it was really straightforward and everyone was lovely. In and out within the hour feeling reassured. And she's been kicking lots more since.

We're in a non NHS health authority but I'm first time and 40 and didn't get a 25 week! I'm fine though and have a 28 week coming up so whatever!

They've been a bit chaotic with my appointments, first I knew if my glucose test was the reminder text from the hospital 48 hours prior 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mountainview8 · 29/02/2024 08:54

I had a 24 week appointment but not much happened, just checked urine and blood pressure and discussed antenatal classes. Only when I got home I realised she hadn't checked the baby's heartbeat. I have my next appointment at 29 weeks (should be 28 but I'm away on holiday).

15rainbow · 29/02/2024 08:57

Mine is in a week and a half at 25 weeks, it's my first and under a consultant so have quite a few appointments

PurpleIsTheColour · 29/02/2024 13:22

26 weeks today and can’t believe the second trimester is almost over now🥳
I have my next midwife appointment at exactly 28 weeks and a consultant appointment on the same day to discuss my chances of a successful VBAC. I think that I will book a c section at 39 weeks and if labour starts earlier on it’s own I’ll give it a go, but if not I’ll just go for the surgery. My previous birth experience was an absolute joke and I didn’t manage to bond with my DD for the first few months due to the trauma, so the planned c section is my main preference at the moment in the hope I will get a bit better experience.

I’ve now officially also requested my mat leave to commence at 39 weeks and will use a couple of weeks of annual leave before that probably to try and relax before the madness starts again.

Our trust finally announced that dads will be allowed to stay overnight in the postnatal ward so I feel a bit more relax about having a c section. My DD was a lockdown baby and visits were only allowed for 1 h a day, which was a nightmare as I had to rely on the midwives to pass me the baby and everything else pretty much, and at times they didn’t come in for over 15 min, which my hungry baby wasn’t particularly happy about. Obviously it also means that it will be extremely noisy but I can deal with that for 24 hours🤣.

Suchardchoccy · 29/02/2024 13:32

@oop you're a bit further along than some of us then!

Oh yeah the placenta is masking my movements a bit tbh, I bet as soon as you got to triage there was loads of kicking 😂 that happened to me with my first

oop · 29/02/2024 16:39

@Suchardchoccy yeah I was moved ahead a week at my 12 week scan so due date is actually the very end of may. Still expecting it to be a June baby though as I know when I ovulated 😁

Yep plenty of kicks once she could feel the monitor on her haha. Always the way.

When would you worry about not feeling much movement? I'm 23+6 and hardly felt anything today. It's hard not to compare myself to others. A colleague's wife is a week behind me and they have videos of her stomach moving away. I've had nothing like that. I have a tendency to overthink and worry anyway with my history so I'd be on the phone to triage daily if I just called when I'm worried!

glasshalffull0 · 01/03/2024 17:15

@15rainbow I'm 22+5 and the same as you, some days I don't feel her move as much some days she's constantly wriggling! My midwife said not to worry until around 30ish weeks (I can't remember exactly when it might have been 32), as she can still be moving but because she has a bit more space I might not feel it as much compared to later on

I find that sometimes she responds to a tap on my stomach and if someone is talking loudly or there is music on

MorningsideMaisie · 03/03/2024 12:56

Hi all! We found out at our 20 week scan we’re having a boy - fortunately we’ll inherit lots of boy clothes from my sister as I have two nephews. Struggling with boy names though, girl names are so much easier!

I had another midwife appointment this week (just turned 23 weeks) and got my MatB and baby box forms - so have formally told my work and set dates for mat leave, which makes it all feel very real. Planning to go off with annual leave from early June (due 27th) then go back April and my husband will take 3-4 months before baby starts nursery at about a year old. We had to get our name down on a nursery after our 12 week scan and still don’t have a definite start date!

Feeling fortunate that everything is going well so far (touch wood) and only really have minor niggles - the worst of which is waking early and not getting back to sleep. Most mornings I’m awake from 4/5am and can’t always get back to sleep, which is knackering.

Feeling a lot more obviously pregnant though, definitely have a visible bump and feel like less of a fraud! Started some aquanatal classes, which have been nice for relaxation and to meet other future mums. On a waiting list for a pregnancy yoga class - everything seems to be in high demand here!

We got a second hand cot (will buy new mattress) and are researching buggies, slings and car seats but finding it hard not get overwhelmed! Has anyone started buying? I think we’ll do a John Lewis nursery appointment so we can try a few things out before we commit, but maybe leave to closer to the due date. Very torn between wanting to be prepared and not wanting to fill the house with baby equipment until we need it!

DanisEndo · 08/03/2024 15:52

How’s everyone doing?

I only have 3 weeks of 2nd trimester left and am feeling mixed! On one side we’re still not even a little bit ready, but the whole pregnancy seems to be flying by and I’m LOVING feeling her wriggling around in there.

anyone else found their nipples leaking already? I was so shocked I thought it’d be right by the due date !

oop · 09/03/2024 08:22

I'm in the third trimester as of this week! Crazy stuff, it's going so fast!

I'm already getting those nesting urges, keep finding new things to redecorate in my house and then hating the mess while we do it 🙈

OP posts:
Suchardchoccy · 09/03/2024 13:16

25 weeks today!

DemelzaRobins · 09/03/2024 13:26

I am 28 weeks today and nesting urge is definitely kicking in.

Unfortunately, what I assume is PGP has also kicked in and I can barely walk! I'm seeing the midwife on Monday thankfully.

I had a growth scan yesterday. It was 2 and half hours behind so I spent ages sat on a hard, uncomfortable waiting room chair. The scan took ages as people kept summoning the sonographer for other things and then we had to wait ages for the report - it was nearly 7pm before we could leave.

Baby is still measuring on 94th centile and I need a GD test. I had a HBA1c blood test at 21+6, a few days after my 20 week scan and that was normal. Hopefully I've just made a big baby.

Anyone else find their scan reports don't reflect their appointment? Mine says they discussed risks of a large baby like shoulder dystopia with me - they very much did not!

Ad12345678 · 10/03/2024 22:11

@DemelzaRobins there is a 20% margin error for all ultrasounds after 16 weeks. In other words the baby may be 20% smaller or larger. Just something to research/remember if they offer you interventions

Couggstar123 · 10/03/2024 23:36

I’ve been measuring 3rd centile with fundal height but 75th centile on growth scans…it’s wildly inaccurate 😂 both the sonographer and my midwife have told me that but still hard not to worry! Hopefully my bump will start to expand and make a bit of space for him soon cos I feel like a stuffed turkey!

DemelzaRobins · 11/03/2024 14:43

The sonographers at the fetal medicine centre I have my scans at are quite doom and gloom generally.

Midwife measured me today and said my bump measurements/fundal height remains spot on for my dates. Got my glucose tolerance test next week.

I know someone who was recently told their baby was big and would be somewhere between 9lbs and 10lbs and, once born, the baby was less than 7lbs 7oz!

Goldie1234 · 11/03/2024 15:55

I. Am. Exhausted.
Anyone else not able to do much? I've rested allllll weekend and all day today but still totally shattered. Feel like my bump is really big and slowing me down. Any tips ? Or snacks that are good for energy ?
26 weeks this week. How many weeks does 3rd trimester start at ?

Suchardchoccy · 11/03/2024 16:05

@Goldie1234 I'm 25+2 and feel the same already. I think the third trimester starts at 28 weeks 🤔

Suchardchoccy · 11/03/2024 16:06

@Goldie1234 p.s no tips but I would appreciate some too!
