Thought I'd make a new thread before the old one filled up completely.

Into the second trimester and beyond 😊

@waster86 @DemelzaRobins thanks for your replies. Definitely a tricky one, I’m leaning towards deferring especially as there’s a follow up day in November where you have to present how you implemented your learning and sure I’ll be on Mat leave soon after the course.

hold you’re both feeling well!

Wheeeeee · 23/01/2024 08:03

I've now come down with a stomach bug 😕 perils of having a kid in nursery I guess. I can't even keep water down at the moment, which is a bit of a worry. It's only been a few hours so hopefully it'll ease off enough to let me drink soon. Anyone else had this in pregnancy?

15rainbow · 23/01/2024 08:42

@Wheeeeee
I have no advice sorry but wanted to say get well soon! Stomach bugs are my worst nightmare!

Suchardchoccy · 23/01/2024 09:21

@Wheeeeee I'm so sorry, they're horrible.

I had one at 35 weeks with DD2 and I've actually had one already in this pregnancy. The doctor just told me to keep sipping water until it passes. I rested in bed and I was by the evening. Flat full fat coke and dry toast if you can manage it too they said. I've got both girls in nursery too, and our immune systems aren't at their strongest while pregnant.

I hope you get well soon!

Suchardchoccy · 23/01/2024 09:21

*I was better by the evening, sorry!

MsNeis · 23/01/2024 10:45

Hello everyone :)

I've had my 20week scan (last Friday) and it went well: doctor said everything she could see was correct and normal. But she said she would feel better if she saw me again in 4 weeks, to check again. She explained to me that it was because of the low quality of the ultrasound, and she insisted that everything looked fine but that she preferred to be over-cautious. I read the report she gave us and certainly everything looks fine.

Has this happened to anyone else? Having problems with the ultrasound quality? Should I book a private scan or just wait until my next appointment (in 3 weeks)?

I'm a little bit worried, as you can see 😅(My husband has ZERO concerns, and he usually has a much clearer headspace than me, so maybe I am overthinking it)

DanisEndo · 23/01/2024 11:13

@MsNeis i think I would be exactly the same as you worrying! But with clarity of being a step removed I think there’s nothing to worry about, the report is fine and they’ve reassured you as much they can. Lean on your husband in this time but also don’t beat yourself up for being nervous.

oop · 23/01/2024 11:31

@Wheeeeee I had one last week it was rough. Lots going around at the moment! I felt better after about 24 hours though. Hope you feel better soon!

NorthernDaisy · 23/01/2024 13:51

Hi MsNeis, I haven't had the same scenario but at my 12 week scan we started on one machine and then had to go to a second one afterwards. I have no medical expertise but even I could tell that we could see more clearly on the second one. Maybe they want to try you on a different machine for completeness?

Alternatively when I was in the waiting room for my 20 week scan (also last Friday!)! there was a poster explaining that sometimes ultrasound images don't work well, eg if you have a gassy tummy. So that could be another reason. I suspect that if they had a real concern they would rescan you more quickly than four weeks hence.

Having said that, could you phone your midwife for reassurance? There's a 24 hour helpline no I was given for mine which I called once and they were really lovely and constructive. Hope this helps xx

Wheeeeee · 23/01/2024 20:51

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! After about 14 hours of vomiting I've finally started being able to keep some liquid down, which is a relief. Next step, attempt a digestive biscuit 😅

Suchardchoccy · 24/01/2024 09:29

@Wheeeeee that's good! Good luck with the biscuit!

MsNeis · 24/01/2024 09:46

Hello and thanks for your support and reassurance 😊

@DanisEndo I think I'm just going to wait because, as you say, looking at it with perspective, I feel there's nothing to worry and 3 weeks is not so far away anyway... 🙏
@NorthernDaisy (same scan dates, that's a lovely coincidence: I hope all was well 🤗) Yes, I thought about that: being overweight (which I am) also tends to cause problems with the ultrasound quality, but as the doctor didn't mention that specifically, I guess I just ran with my worries! But they really didn't seem worried at all.

Hope all is well with everybody!

(@Wheeeeee I hope you're feeling better today 💐)

Oncologymum34 · 24/01/2024 13:28

Hi ya.
thought I’d join the group and say hello 👋🏻
Im currently 18 weeks +1 with my 3rd baby.
due date is 25/6/2024 and having a boy.
I have some trauma regarding my kids and being pregnant if I’m honest and although happy I’m absolutely terrified.
i have a beautiful 10 year old daughter and an amazing 6 year old son.
i lost a baby before I had my son Jackson and had a few scary moments while pregnant with him also.
my son was then diagnosed with Leukaemia at 2.5 years old and finished 3.5 years of chemotherapy treatment last April.
so to then fall pregnant (not planned) has really scared me although as time goes on I’m coming around to it all.
I’ve been put at a risk for pre eclampsia so on aspirin daily and also have extra scans because of my underactive thyroid condition that I’ve suffered with from birth.

sorry to offload there just feels good to tell people who don’t know me.
🧡

VJ88 · 24/01/2024 15:59

Hi @Oncologymum34 and welcome! Pregnancy is scary enough, without adding in everything else it sounds like you've been through.

I had a very traumatic loss in my last pregnancy, and my daughter was very premature and died a few days later, so I have also been facing up to a lot of fear and trauma around pregnancy/birth. It sounds like you're being well looked after, though, which is great! Our hospital has been brilliant so far, which has made things a tiny bit easier.

Wishing you all the best for this pregnancy, and to your son post-chemo xx

Wheeeeee · 24/01/2024 19:15

Welcome to the thread @Oncologymum34 gosh, you've been through a lot, so glad to hear your son is through his chemo now. No wonder you're finding this an emotional time. There's usually some lovely person on this thread who'll listen and be there with a virtual Brew

Oncologymum34 · 24/01/2024 19:33

Thank you so much @VJ88 🧡
Im so sorry to hear about your daughter. It really is very hard to be positive when you’ve been through trauma.
just trying to take each day as it comes. I also wish you all the best too.

thank you also @Wheeeeee 🧡
it does feel nice to talk to others and I really appreciate it.
aww yes he’s doing great since ringing the bell but still isn’t classed as cancer free for another 4 years and 3 months. Xx

Mountainview8 · 25/01/2024 08:04

@Oncologymum34 welcome! Sorry to hear what you've been through. We're here to listen and support each other xx

VJ88 · 25/01/2024 08:33

@Oncologymum34 it definitely is tough to he positive, but I'm trying to enjoy and notice those moments when they do happen as well! It'd be sad to look back on this pregnancy in the future and feel like I never enjoyed a moment of it because I was too scared and guarded. That said I've already marched myself off to a&e twice in a tizz when I've got myself worked up over the tiniest thing which of course turned out to be absolutely nothing! Thankfully my hospital have been really patient and understanding of my anxiety.

15rainbow · 25/01/2024 14:59

I know I'm quite possibly overthinking but wondered if anyone had a similar experience and things were ok? Ive been thinking I could few little flutters for the past couple weeks but now the last 2 days I can't feel anything. I know in first pregnancies you often don't feel anything until 20+ weeks (I'm 18+5) but the fact that I thought I could and now I can't is worrying me. 12 week scan was fine and heard HB at 16 weeks.

CBM40 · 25/01/2024 15:53

I'm 21 weeks and haven't felt much and some days nothing at all. Had my 20 week scan on Tuesday and my placenta is anterior so that's why I've not felt much. Baby absolutely fine. I also read that at this stage movements can irregular. And would be more 24-28 weeks for regular movement/patterns.

CBM40 · 25/01/2024 15:58

Hi all. 21+1 weeks. This is my 3rd baby but big age gaps with my eldest being 24 and youngest 14. Anyone else with big age gaps like this ? Feel like a first timer haha

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/01/2024 20:20

I'm almost 22 weeks and some days don't really feel anything (at least not that I notice when I'm busy or moving around) but other days I can both feel and see him or her moving, but only if I'm lying still.

I'm similar, 21+6 today. I usually feel baby daily but some days more than others. I haven't seen any movement yet though. The only pattern so far is that he seems to be moving as soon as I get into bed and try and sleep.

I had my 20 week scan earlier this week and he was nice and active, I just couldn't feel most of it.

May5th · 26/01/2024 14:35

I’m 19+5 and I had my 20 week scan today, all is well and found out we’re having a boy ❤️I could see plenty of movement on the scan but I haven’t really felt anything so far apart from maybe a few flutters, this is not my first as have an 11 year old. I was so nervous about the scan leading up to it (4 miscarriages in the past) and feel relieved it was fine but I’m hoping to start feeling movement soon to make it more real. I’m getting quite a few consultant appointments this time and they always do a quick scan too which is great but after miscarriage I feel the worry is always there regardless.
Hope everyone is having a good Friday 😊

QueSyrahSyrah · 26/01/2024 14:54

@DemelzaRobins I was lying on the couch the other day and both DH and I could see a sort of rolling motion across my stomach, and then my belly button was kind of sucked inwards and then out again 😂
