Couldn't see another and the old one is full. Will copy the list from the last one, the tags are really temperamental though and it definitely has quite a few people missing sorry 🙈

Half joking, half serious...Is it possible to eat so much you send yourself into labour? Having period pain cramps in waves after a huge 3 course lunch.

Lou98x · 29/11/2023 16:53

Hi all - this may have been discussed but when are you all starting your maternity leave/when did you start? I’m due Jan 20th and finishing on the 12th but I’m suddenly thinking “why am I even going back after Christmas?!”

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/11/2023 16:57

@Lou98x it depends. I worked up to going into hospital last time, but baby was three weeks early. But I have no mat cover and December/jan is busy season so that's why I did it. Due early feb this time and planning to do the same, if I can. However they'll let me work from home for the month before I'm due, so it's not physically hard for me to keep going really

suz2285 · 29/11/2023 17:04

@Lou98x working up till 18th dec, taking hols, not going back after Xmas, mat leave from 3rd and due on the 13th

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 I'm working at home 90% of the time and still struggling 😂 so uncomfy sitting anywhere, on my ball, at my desk, working on laptop on the sofa is ok but not great for actual jobs that require concentration as I prefer having the bigger screen/mouse etc! But if it wasn't Christmas I'd work up till a few weeks before! I'm glad Christmas is in the way so I get a longer break tbh! I'm over it with work now!

I've got 2 more busy weeks to go then I'm outta there!!

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/11/2023 17:09

@suz2285 not saying I'm not over work also! I'm struggling to focus and things are taking me longer. But I take a shorter leave (shared parental leave) and this makes me feel like I'm maximising it! But yeah if I wasn't going to be leaving small team in the lurch for busy period, I'd prob think Christmas was a nice break off point too 😂 Toddler in nursery, lots of time to chill and nap and watch box sets sounds perfect to me

Mummyme87 · 29/11/2023 17:38

I’m finishing next week at 35weeks, will have two weeks annual leave then mat leave kicks in on Christmas Day at 37weeks. I’ll be induced at 39weeks. I just could not work any longer, I’m so ready for mat leave now, I’m in agony after work yesterday, really sore under my bump.

MrsJ6921 · 29/11/2023 17:40

I’m working till I’m 37 weeks on the 15th December then having a mix of AL and rest days before my official mat leave starts on the 30th December. I am due to be induced at 39 weeks though on 29th December.

Flossiepot · 29/11/2023 17:41

@Lou98x - Due 9th Jan here, was planning to work as close to due date as I could but this week has changed my mind 🙈 Will be finishing 22/12 now!

buckingmad · 29/11/2023 17:43

Due date 09/01, last day 14/12 (37 weeks), 2 weeks holiday then mat leave starting 03/01.

1992H · 29/11/2023 17:46

@buckingmad not had that-if I eat too much I just throw up. Hope you are alright!

re maternity leave, I’m starting maternity leave on 18th December, due on 14th Jan. I take 10 unpaid weeks a year and use those to work term time only so would have finished on Friday 22nd anyway, but thought I’d have a week to get sorted first for Christmas and the kids birthdays before they are off.

My leave year runs sept-aug so this year instead of taking them in school holidays I’m having them after my full pay maternity leave finishes in June, before then using up holiday so will be off for 10.5 months without pay being affected which is amazing, as I went back after 6 months with the first two.

it’s a really difficult call as to when to finish, my first was due New Year’s Eve, and I finished on December 21st ish at 38.5 weeks. He was 11 days overdue and I expected my husband to be on paternity leave off the back of his Christmas leave. The second weeks Monday he went back to work I was so fed up and grumpy and it felt like I was off a lifetime!

whereas with ds 2-also due New Year’s Eve a couple years later, I finished at 36 weeks and those last few weeks flew! He wasn’t as late though, and I basically got Christmas/new year out the way and he was born on the Friday as DS1 went back to nursery on the Tuesday, so we had a nice long weekend all together before he went back to normal after the Christmas break.

buckingmad · 29/11/2023 17:48

@1992H it has eased but still niggly little pain! But bump feels really hard and tight. On way home from work and going to have a bath and see how I feel.

1992H · 29/11/2023 17:49

@buckingmad fingers crossed it settles but if you aren’t happy go and get checked out

RG9895 · 29/11/2023 17:53

My last day in the office is Monday and then I get to work from home until the 22nd which is my last day. I get bank holidays off anyway so taking 3 days of holiday until the 2nd and then my mat leave kicks in from 2nd Jan and I will be 39 weeks ☺️ I am definitely mentally clocking out now though, counting down the days for sure!

TunnocksTCake · 29/11/2023 17:53

I'm finishing 12th dec at 36 weeks and using holiday this side of New year then mat leave kicks in January 1st, due 7th Jan and tbh wishing I was finishing earlier but this is my second baby and it's so much harder this time round which I wasn't expecting (ha!)

sashastuck · 29/11/2023 17:56

@buckingmad you okay now?!

my last day at work is 21st Dec, bang on 38 weeks. But because of Christmas hols, my mat leave will officially start either when he’s born (due 4th Jan) or 8th Jan when school starts again - whatever comes first!

Hummusanddipdip · 29/11/2023 17:58

My last day is end of term, so 19th December then we've got Christmas holidays and mat leave starts on the 3rd January so 38 weeks. Baby is due 16th January.

However, I'm sure he'll be here in about 2 and a half weeks, otherwise if they decide to induce after my 36 week scan (they said 37 weeks) he'll be here day after boxing day

buckingmad · 29/11/2023 18:06

@sashastuck they were quite bad waves of pain, to the point where I took paracetamol but they’ve eased now. I just feel like I can’t move my bump is so hard and tight. Baby is moving (maybe more than usual) but I’m also squished on a packed bus next to a dickhead man manspreading across both the chairs so I’m half hanging on for dear life.

I’ll have a bath when I get home and see how I feel once a bit more relaxed. My bowels have really ramped up the last few days which was an early sign with DD which does add to my worries slightly 👀

Lilothblos · 29/11/2023 18:24

Similar to a lot of others here, my last day is 22nd December, due 12th Jan. Will be nice finishing and having Christmas to keep us occupied whilst we wait for our babies to arrive I think (aside from any early arrivals)!

Luhou · 29/11/2023 18:34

@Lou98x I'm working until the 22ndt then over Christmas/New year using remaining holiday plus bank hols then Mat leave starts 2nd Jan. I'm due the 18th.

FirstT1meMum · 29/11/2023 18:58

Working until 22nd Dec, due Jan 7th so will be 37+5. MAT leave officially starts on the 8th I think, the day the children go back. Finding it hard thinking I'll make it another three weeks! Not finding the actual teaching side a problem like I thought I would, its all the admin and to-do lists that keep getting added to!

Matildahoney · 29/11/2023 18:59

I was planning to work til' 22nd Dec, which would have been 38+1, but they've said it's highly likely they'll induce me 38/39 weeks so I'm now finishing the 15th, which is also the night of my Xmas party. So will round it all off nicely

HopeAndStrength · 29/11/2023 19:07

It's exciting to see people finishing in December. Not long now at all!
I'm due end of Jan so I'll be back in for a couple of weeks after Christmas, but will be working from home.

TunnocksTCake · 29/11/2023 19:36

Just had midwives 34 weeks and baby is head down with back along my right side. I was convinced he was still sideways so I'm glad he's behaving himself. There was a student in the room and both she and the midwife did fundal height and student said I was bang on 34 weeks and midwife said 37... last time I was 4 weeks ahead so god knows. Also apparently they should have given me gtt but can't do it now so they are going to seek consultant opinion and I might have to do finger pricks which is annoying. I was happy to do gtt but they just recommended growth scan off the bat. Hopefully the consultant won't push for the finger prick test.
Got them to confirm a strep b swab at 36 weeks too - had it before I fell pregnant and want it confirmed so I know how quick I need to get to hospital!

Mummyme87 · 29/11/2023 20:17

@TunnocksTCake you've just reminded me
actually to order a GBS swab for 36weeks. I didn’t privately last time and will this time also

Onedayatatime24 · 29/11/2023 21:09

I'm due 14th Jan, mat leave starting on 8th Jan so finishing at 39 weeks. Only back for four days after Christmas and will work from home those days so hoping I won't have much to do, just tie up loose ends. My mat pay is pants so trying to get as much in as I can before he comes!
