Anyone want to join me? I'm likely jumping the gun as I have a history of reoccurring loss but it always helps me to chat as if it really will work out this time 🤞🏼❤️

@bringmearainbow That's what I thought - GP does keep commenting that it's all very American to test HCG and not the done think in the UK, but she is quite old school so 🤷‍♀️
I'm 5 weeks 5 days today & I've got a lovely bout of heartburn and bloating 😅but my upset stomach has settled down now at least!
Thanks for the advice I will definitely go for bloods and try to math the math when I get results. Interesting to hear doubling rate could slow down after 6 weeks - didn't know this, so will try to bear this in mind for next week.

bringmearainbow · 10/11/2023 10:19

@Ewbo2024 yes it's not a very uk thing though weirdly my EPU like to do it before they offer to do anything else 🤷🏼‍♀️ I can't remember are you going for a early scan? Oh the heartburn and bloating I feel your pain! I thought I was getting away with not much bloating but last night it just popped 😩 prob doesn't help that I've been so constipated 🤦🏼‍♀️

I'm 5 weeks today so I bit the bullet and called to register with the midwife. 8 week appointment on 7th December. I'll be 8+6 but it was the first appointment they could give me, hopefully that won't delay the 12 week scan!

Ewbo2024 · 10/11/2023 10:31

@bringmearainbow I've got a real hankering vegetables at the minute so I think I'm going ott on the fibre and suffering as a result! Totally agree with you on the jumper season being a good thing for us!
Re early scan - I'm going to talk it over with my OH tonight and make a decision, I'm tempted to go for one at 8 weeks because of my long cycles I don't ovulate until CD 20/21, I worry if I go sooner there wouldn't be much to see and I'd start a cycle of anxiety iykwim?

ellieolivia · 10/11/2023 10:45

Can I jump on?
Congratulations to everyone with a bfp !
I have had positive test i am only 11 dpo so still very early but I have quite a short luteal phase so my period would have started yesterday usually.
We started trying 3 months ago- this would be our first ! I'm 29. No major symptoms yet I've not been sleeping great and mild waves of feeling a bit sick.
So nervous something is going to go wrong! I have been taking supplements pre-conception do I need to take any different ones now ?

It depends on the supplements, but Pregnacare for example say you can finish your 'conception' pack before transitioning onto their 'pregnancy' ones.

Hi everyone, morning sickness has kicked in for me now over the last 2 days at 6 weeks. Have had to take today and yesterday off work because I've been throwing up 5-6 times and up during the night because of how nauseous I feel. I work in a secondary school so don't want to throwing up while teaching. I teach 3 hours in a row in the morning without a break and then same again in the afternoon most days or going between sites in my break so don't have time to pee let alone run to the toilet when I'm about to be sick. Anyone got any tips or advice? Tried lots of natural remedies for sickness but nothing is helping so far x

Forest1234 · 10/11/2023 12:50

Congratulations all ☺️🎉
6.3weeks pregnant here with baby numero 2.
Came as a bit of a surprise as had talked about trying again but had not yet ‘started’. Was the first time doing the deed in a whileeeee 🙄 (I blame the sleep adverse toddler). Very happy though as was fully expecting year + of trying as was the case first time around.
Not too many symptoms but I can’t stop eating 😩 if I don’t I feel light-headed and generally just a bit blergh, which I just can’t be dealing with at work. So.many.carbs.

Forest1234 · 10/11/2023 12:52

:)

Forest1234 · 10/11/2023 12:54

Eeek acupressure bands perhaps? Sneaky ginger biscuits in your desk drawer? Fingers crossed it passes in a few weeks.

FigandHoney · 10/11/2023 14:46

Congratulations to everyone who just found out / joined!!

@NphysT I am trying to remember what helped me last time. I think it was eating a little frequently. Especially breakfast bars. Anything ginger or lemon is also supposed to help.

@ellieolivia I had the same query about multivitamins and was told that I could finish my pack of proceive max. I will then switch to smthg more pregnancy specific

FigandHoney · 10/11/2023 14:48

When is everyone planning to tell their work. Last time I just had started the job and was still in probation, so left it as long as I could.
But I am worried this time about morning sickness and it affecting my work. Don't want people to think I am slacking.
Already feeling nauseous today and haven't even yet missed my period

bringmearainbow · 10/11/2023 14:56

@Ewbo2024 yes totally get it I ovulate 20/21 too. from lmp I'm 6+2 but I know it's incorrect and I'm about a week behind. 8 weeks is a good time to go if I was paying for a private scan I would go between 7.5-8 weeks.

@ellieolivia most pre conception vits are ok to carry on taking once you've conceived

@NphysT I found the sickness bands helpful in the past. If not ring the gp there are lots of medication options these days

6 weeks today and not feeling many symptoms at all. The cramping I had during weeks 4 and 5 are easing up. Breast are still a bit sore but no morning sickness or nausea at all. I am actually a bit worried to be honest

bringmearainbow · 10/11/2023 15:38

@Laylamoxx I know totally easier said than done but try not to panic about symptoms sometimes symptoms really don't start properly until week 6 or 7. I have had a varying degree of symptoms in all mine some I've hardly had any others have been crappy

OP posts:
KM8 · 10/11/2023 15:43

@Laylamoxx I'm almost 5 weeks and I'm not feeling many symptoms at all - no sore boobs, the cramping has eased and not much nausea.....it's reassuring to read you are the same! I keep taking tests and the lines are much darker just to keep checking 🥰❤️

chilliflakesmum · 10/11/2023 17:01

@FigandHoney I told my manager at 8 weeks last time, after I had an early scan. I was very nauseous and tired so needed to have little naps.

Not sure when I will tell this time round. Got a new job last year. I am thinking, since i wfh, of telling them after the Christmas break, if all goes ok I will be around 14 weeks! 🤞🤞🤞

Samszie · 10/11/2023 17:32

@Laylamoxx I am around 4w+3 (from last period) and although I had some symptoms (headache, lower back pain, plenty of cramps, hot flashes, and shortness of breath), today I feel pretty much nothing.

I received a low HCG yesterday (71) - although my midwife said "your hcg levels are at a normal level for early pregnancy". Still, I'm feeling quite nervous today and slightly gloomy. Guess we will see what my Hcg levels are tomorrow. Fingers crossed 🤞

ELJ1502 · 10/11/2023 17:57

@Cookiemonster19 I'm tending to find, I’m waking up with the nausea and it lasts until lunch time. My bloating is unreal though. From what I can remember this is similar to my last pregnancy. I looked more pregnant at 4 weeks than 10. 😂

I was fortunate to have a normal pregnancy but my DD was born in the December before lockdown so I basically completely lost most of my maternity leave.

ELJ1502 · 10/11/2023 18:02

@NphysT I try to eat little and often. Dismiss a class, eat a biscuit before bringing the next class in. Ginger tea in a flask or ginger biscuits in your drawers.

Savvy21 · 10/11/2023 18:52

Hiya, gosh this thread moves fast. Had my early scan today and the bean is in the right place so that's a tick after previous ectopic. Countdown to next scan on viability in 2 weeks. It's all out of my control so can't worry too much.
@ELJ1502 snap - also had no maternity leave due to lockdown. That was rubbish!
@NphysT feel your pain - I've already told my work but only because of these early scans.

Savvy21 · 10/11/2023 18:53

@Samszie fingers crossed for you that your hcg levels are ok tomorrow!

NphysT · 10/11/2023 18:54

Thank you for the suggestions, I can't stand ginger unfortunately, the smell makes me throw up immediately. Will try the sickness bands and see how I do with those.

Those of you who have had previous pregnancies, when did you tell work if your morning sickness was bad? Xx

ELJ1502 · 10/11/2023 19:05

@NphysT I told my HoD around 5 weeks but I just kept running out of classes. It wasn’t ideal but I wasn’t being sick every lesson.

I then told my head teacher after my booking appointment

I think if it’s bad to the point you can’t be in school, then you probably need to tell them sooner rather later.

MummyBear2519 · 10/11/2023 19:26

Congratulations and welcome to all the newcomers.
A teacher in my school is around 4 weeks ahead of me and had to tell people almost instantly after her positive test due to sickness. Thankfully I’ve not had any sickness in previous pregnancies, hoping this one follows suit.
I don’t plan on telling my business manager until January at the earliest. I want to leave it as long as possible as she tends to flap when she is stressed, another colleague in our team of 4 is retiring a few months before my due date.
