@chuppachups12 was jw as they’ve put me on meta forming and that’s given me similar symptoms. I’d say it could just be hormones when you have sickness/upset tummy like that but tell the gp and/or midwife I’m sure they may be able to advise hope you feel better soon x

Shrillwaffle · 26/12/2023 21:49

I’m being induced at 38 weeks (4 weeks away 😱) I’m a bit scared now as the midwife mentioned about c sections being more likely when induced and I really don’t want a c section if I can avoid it. Has any been induced and had a natural birth? And what is the likelihood of being induced and having a c section?

FTMCHD · 26/12/2023 23:22

I took ibuprofen and paracetamol together half an hour before having the Mirena coil fitted and it was uncomfortable but fine. The cramping for a few days afterwards was the worst bit!

Cheetocat · 26/12/2023 23:49

We just chanced it for years, avoiding the fertile window and it worked for us, I got pregnant immediately when we decided it was time to have a baby but sadly I had a MMC and we tried for a year for this current little one. I have struggled with my mental health in the past which makes me worry about hormonal birth control but I really don't want to have a coil either, no idea what to do. We definitely do not want another baby any time soon but who knows if we'll change our mind in a couple of years, wouldn't want my fella to get the snip and then us regret it.

My pelvic pain is so bad now.. and I’ve also discovered lightening crotch!! I am waddling so much and I feel like my whole vagina constantly aches.. like someone has kicked me right in the feels!

so bit of a random question but has anyone discussed contraception after birth? When I saw my consultant last he said about putting the coil in but everyone I know says it absolutely KILLS!! I’ve tried the depo injection & implant and neither work for me so it’s a case of going back on the pill or the coil… any recommendations/advice gratefully received!

Why only the pill or coil? We’ll be using good ole fashioned condoms - I don’t want to mess around with hormonal contraceptives after side effects previously and we may want a second, so they’re the easiest thing for preventing pregnancy.

PeeBeee · 27/12/2023 08:09

@CharXo my consultant who booked in my c cection date last week mentioned if i wanted sterilised or the minera (think that’s what it’s called) whilst they were doing the c section and I am not sure what to do. I’ve never been on any contraception apart from the pill and I know I will be in pain for a while with the cesarian alone so not sure if i wanna chance that. Sex will be the last thing on my mind with 2 under 2 so I might decline! I don’t want to go back on the pill so good old fashioned condoms till DH gets the snip i reckon!

@Shrillwaffle my personal experience of being induced early, it did lead to a cesarian. That was at 39+2 after starting induction at 39 weeks. My experience of ‘forced’ labour was so awful that I have opted for an elcs this time at 39 weeks. That is just my experience though and it depends if your body was ready to go into labour, mine definitely did wasn’t at 39 weeks! Why are you being induced at 38 weeks if you dont mind me asking?

LavenderSweetPea · 27/12/2023 08:49

@Shrillwaffle I think the thing to do if you're worried is to ask your consultant what the stats are for your hospital for how likely it is you end up having a csec. It'll vary by induction method used, and by hospital so they'll be able to give you the best answer for your circumstances. But you can also ask them about what percent of women who go into labour naturally end up with a section as well, because they might not be so different.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/12/2023 08:57

@Shrillwaffle I had a positive induction at 37 weeks. Had the gel, pessary and drip (and waters broken) and it was fine. The only real negative was the amount of time waiting for a labour ward bed.

Mine had no interventions and I didn't tear. Was discharged in the morning and was out walking my dog that day. Both my sisters had similar with their early inductions, as did a couple of friends. There were some tears but I'm not sure any more than my friends that went naturally.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 27/12/2023 08:59

I would say get yourself ready for it though. Personally I had induction acupuncture and was contracting on the monitor when I went in (I didn't realise). I also used perineal massage and the Aniball to practice the feeling and muscles of labour

anony1111 · 27/12/2023 12:15

@CharXo how are you coping with the pelvic pain? I'm really struggling with it too, getting out of bed is so painful it actually makes me want to cry! It's making me even more anxious for labour/birth!

redxlondon · 27/12/2023 15:45

Is anyone else planning a section? I’m wondering what date I’ll be given and when I’ll find out. Now that family have left using the time to start prepping the house…

Nemo145 · 27/12/2023 15:55

@redxlondon My due date is 11th Feb but I’m having a section between weeks 37-38 which is 22nd - 29th Jan. This is because I have a stitch in so I’ve known for a while when it will be.

@anony1111 I have awful pelvic pain too, particularly at night. Once I’ve been up and moved about a bit it tends to go.

PeeBeee · 27/12/2023 17:11

@redxlondon im due 27th Feb and c section is booked for the 20th at exactly 39 weeks. If there are no medical reasons for section, i don’t think they take you any earlier than 39 weeks x

Clueless13 · 27/12/2023 19:09

Hi everyone, I wanted a little advice as we approach our due dates!

I'm quite a petite lady (5ft 1 and weighed around 45kg pre pregnancy) my husband isn’t huge either. Baby has measured small throughout my entire pregnancy bouncing around the 10th centile but in my most recent growth scan they found baby had dropped to the 3rd centile and they are considering inducing me early at 36 weeks.l as it’s their hospital policy. I’ve done a little research and different hospitals suggest 37 weeks.

Do you think if I requested to continue until at least 37 weeks it’s something they would consider or will they strictly induce me at 36 weeks? Anyone have any similar experience? 🙏🏽

Cheetocat · 27/12/2023 19:12

Turns out little baby is bum down with his head in the left and legs on the right if my belly and the hospital has a policy to not allow natural birth in that position for first time mams so if he doesn't flip I'll have to get a c-section at 39 weeks. Thankfully I'm only 32w4d so we have time for him to turn but I had no clue what position he was in before today.

anony1111 · 27/12/2023 19:52

@Nemo145 it's awful isn't it? It depends for me sometimes it eases after moving but sometimes I'm walking like I've had an accident 🙈

@Clueless13 did they say why baby might have dropped centiiles? I know my sister was induced as her baby stopped growing/gaining weight towards the end and they said there was no positives of baby being kept in as she wasn't growing anymore.

CharXo · 27/12/2023 20:30

@anony1111 I’m not really! I constantly moan how uncomfortable I am. Some nights I sleep better than others but i find it worse when I’m sat at my desk and then get up after I’ve been sat for a few hours.. I’m like a cripple! I’m trying to remember to get up once an hour just to have a quick walk/move about just to ease it a bit. I also struggle getting out of bed.. again I think it’s because I’ve been in one position for a long time that I kind of get stiff?

@redxlondon im also still waiting for my date.. I’m having an elective section and both consultant and midwife have said I’ll get the date at about 37 weeks.. but the section will be at some point in my 39th week.. which I’m really really nervous about as my last baby was born at 39 weeks!

Clueless13 · 27/12/2023 20:54

@anony1111 they haven’t said much other than wanting to monitor weekly and potentially inducing early, although the blood supply is fine when they checked via ultrasound. They think it could just be because I’m quite petite

Sunshineclouds11 · 28/12/2023 16:25

Whilst I love being preg, apart from the worries, the one thing I am most looking forward to, other than wine. Is going to the toilet and not checking if there's any blood every single time 🫠

Ebonythoughts · 28/12/2023 17:09

Anyone else really struggling to find any comfortable position to sit or lie down. Feels like the baby’s head is in my bum. Dull period like back and thigh pain for the last couple of days too. I don’t think this cold is helping either, struggling to breathe properly and every sneeze hurts.

I was worried last night that I was getting early contractions and all I could think about was please let me get over this cold first so I have energy to breathe and push lol.

Those who have had babies before, is this level of discomfort at 34+ 2 normal?

Cheetocat · 28/12/2023 17:14

I also check every time and I try to remind myself that everything is okay but the worry never stops.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 28/12/2023 18:04

I really hope I'm not the only 1 with this....
Is anyone feeling like movement in their back? 🤣
I know that sounds so crazy but cos I know he is head down facing in to me not back to back I honestly felt like his hands tapping me on the back 🫢

Hankthehonk · 28/12/2023 22:33

@Shrillwaffle I was induced with my daughter, I did have a vaginal delivery but needed ventouse and an episiotomy. Can't say induction was a positive experience for me, I wish I'd known more about what to expect.

Sorry there are others here with pelvic pain, I'm suffering too! To the extent I went into the maternity unit about it a week ago, I've been given codeine and referred to physio. It's making it difficult to do anything with my toddler or around the house. I've got 4 weeks of work left after the Xmas break and currently no idea how I'll manage it.
I had a growth scan today and while baby is doing fine, he's currently breech, not sure if that might be making pelvic pain worse. 32 weeks now so hoping he turns very soon

Hankthehonk · 28/12/2023 22:37

@Shrillwaffle sorry I also meant to say - I think induction experiences can vary as much as birth experiences in general!! So I think all you can do is learn as much as you can about the possibilities, that's what I wish I had done better

Kelb79 · 28/12/2023 23:05

Had my 32 week scan today and so relieved that everything is looking perfect - baby in 73rd centile measuring 4lb 10oz 😍😍 pregnancy after infertility and loss is just never relaxing 🫣🫣
a little bit panicky now as baby still breach (same as you @Cheetocat) but have been told plenty of time to move still and to get on my birthday ball a lot more and look at the Spinning Babies website 🤔 anyone had success with that??
im trying to do everything I can to avoid interventions but its a battle! Consultant pushing for c-section because of my age, midwife pushing for induction because of my age aswell as IVF, baby stubbornly breach…. 🙄🫣🤷🏼‍♀️
